Several bodies were transported from the Tamerlane to the offices of Dr. Kinsey Jackson. Following a routine autopsy, she uncovered that two of the bodies recovered were long since dead. Others were fresh, killed at point blank range with a pistol. The shot victims all had the same tattoo - an eye with a skull as it's pupil, with the numeral 5 on it's forehead.

Ann, DeadPixel, Sin-Eater and Madame Zara sneak aboard the Tamerlane at night to investigate. Much of the Tamerlane has been surveyed by investigators, but they have found some clues that the investigation team has missed. DeadPixel found a young adolescent's shoe stuck between a stairwell leading down into the hull of the ship and the command module, Ann has found a pair of missing preservers and lifejacket and also a pre-teen's Minnie Mouse jacket in a rusted hole in the hull of the ship. They have found ghost activity, and a cargo container that seems to have contained an essence of Oblivion that has ripped it's way out and into the real world. The Shroud is disturbingly thin here as they continue their exploration.

Ann, Madame Zara and Sin-Eater continue their investigation of the Tamerlane. They find MURDER! Lots of MUUURRDDDERR. And bodies. They also discover that there were two stowaways, a father and daughter, on board. The girl, appears to have escaped. The father was not so lucky, beheaded and left for dead in the woods as he attempted to make for the Highway. They found a cargo container on the lowest deck, blood pouring into it from the dead bodies above whose contents were a broken box and some obsidian. Lastly, they learned that the father and the bridge captain had crossed the shroud and were reaped by Slavers. They had a brief conservation with the Slavers, before they let them go.

New investigators appear! Ann and Sin-Eater meet back at the Tamerlane to continue hunting a few days after the Slavers left. They are joined by Evan Goethe, Graym, Harmony, Li Bong and Silvana. They muse over the knowledge Ann receives from visions and Li Bong has collected as he hunts for the monster who seems to have left the ship and is hunting for something. Perhaps the girl! They discern the monster is making it's way toward Prospect and at the Harbor, somewhere, is the missing girl. The chase is on!

With the girl tracked to a private shipyard, DeadPixel, Daisy, Silvana, Li Bong and Sin-Eater make their way to the under-construction ship where she is hiding. There, they encounter jaguar warriors who accost them from the tempest shadows as they find the girl. The monster, called the Shambler by Li Bong, makes it's move by crushing through under the hull and taking the girl by the throat. Forced between the decision of saving the girl or saving Silvana from oblivion, Daisy protects Silvana, the Shambler ripping the girl through the hull to the dark depths below bending her in half on the way down. The fight ends with pacification skills by DeadPixel, Sin-Eater and defensive techniques by Daisy and Li Bong's weapon skill. The hole left behind begins to sink the ship and the investigators make it out of the sinking ship, failing to defend their quarry.

Time has passed, and the Shambler has vanished. There have been no signs of it's presence since the murder of the sole survivor. With little recourse, investigators turn to the only other clue remaining: The mysterious symbol borne by the victims of the Tamerlane. Finding the occult group's location in southern prospect, Beckett, Bobo, Conn, Lochlan and Silvana investigate the remains of the group's hidden residence. There they find nothing but corpses, a primeval force, and a source of the mysterious symbol - a Legion who decimated the native dead, hundreds of years ago. At the conclusion of their investigation they receive startling news. Smallpox has hit Prospect.

The Shambler is discovered! With little recourse to keep the scourge in check, the investigators trap him in Prospect Metro Subway. There, Beckett, Bobo, Li Bong, Conn, Gus and Sigvard put him to task. The Fog causes mass hysteria in the subway as Bobo unleashes Pandemonium while the investigators take the fight to the Shambler, stopping the scourge of Smallpox he carries with him by destroying him both in the world of the living as well as the world of the dead.
Conclusion
The Shambler was defeated. The spread of Smallpox, while ticking a death toll, is within weeks once more quarantined. Medical experts have no clue how the strain managed to re-emerge, and doctors across the world are coming up with theories.
Subway Tram #3, infected with Spanish Flu, fled the subway tram contrary to the Investigator's intervention. More die as a result before once more medical personnel manage to quarantine and eradicate the spread of the flu.
Subway Tram #1, infected with Mnemonic Plague, was halted. Few were infected and quickly this disease was closed from spreading.
Many died from the bioterrorism of the Shambler. And Death always claims it's due.
