Deirdre waves to Sebastian gleefully! Deirdre waves to JJ! Then she tries to hug both JJ and Sebastian!
Janneke comes up to the dock, waving one-handed. The other hand carries a large box that probably holds baked goods of some sort. She hugs Deirdre one-handed and smiles. "I come bearing Bailey's Irish Creme cupcakes!"
Sark has arrived. Sebastian doesn't do perky - news flash - but he does arch a brow at Janneke. "Not for long you don't," he murmurs.
Kieran comes in from Prospect Docks and Shipyard - Docks Kieran has arrived . "Oh, I could kiss you!" Deirdre exclaims to JJ, then decides she will, and tries to kiss JJ's cheek. However, her attention is easily distracted. Much like the sea doggy that see's a clownfish "Sark!" the red-head exclaims happily and then makes a beeline to give him a welcoming hug. Sark hops off of one of the other island ferries and wanders the docks for a bit before finally catching sight of familiar faces. Dressed in his rather typical tshirt and jeans and walking around barefoot, he approaches the little group and offers a bright smile and a wave of one hand. When Deirdre runs his way he chuckles and stops, bracing for the attack hug to return it, "I figured I would just listen for the loud celebration and home in on that." Kieran wanders out onto the commercial docks, singing to herself, "I'd rather be/ SHI-NAY! / Like a treasure from a sunken pirate wreck / scrub the deck! and make it look / SHI-NAY! / I will sparkle like a wealthy woman's neck / Just a sec..." Erin comes in from Prospect Docks and Shipyard - Docks Erin has arrived.
Janneke just giggles at the declaration from Sebastian. "Well, we're going to have to share, at least until next week when I open the new place... but you can have extra because you're my favorite." She looks amused as the selkie chases the dragon -- not in the sinister sense, but in the 'running across the dock to say hello' sense. She spots Kieran and waves with her free hand, the other holding a large bakery style box of some sort. "Kee! Boozecakes!" Mini booze cupcakes, gotta love it!
Clementine comes in from Prospect Docks and Shipyard - Docks
Clementine has arrived.
"Oh, you know me. Shy and retiring is not in my nature. If you're going to party, PAR-TAY!" Then it's Kee's turn for the hug assault. "Welcome, welcome! Great to see you again. It's been too long. At least 20 hours, I think?" Deirdre has spent much of the intervening time a sea lion. And, she's just such a friendly ocean pupper. Sark smiles a little more at the greetings goign around, waving a hand at Kee as the attack hugs move on to her. He lifts his voice to address Sebastian and JJ with a soft, "Hello again! I heard there was a celebration about a boat going on and there might be drinks and snacks and wonderful people."
Erin arrives, surprise no baby is strapped to her this evening. She looks around and gives a little wave as she notices all the people. Following her is a house size black cat.
Sebastian inclines his head to Janneke. "One of a few, I expect?" Then, blinking, he turns to regard Kieran. "Shiny! But in the morning I'll be a wreck..."
Kieran is /completely/ unprepared to be suddenly accosted by an armful of affectionate semi-pinniped. "ACK! Oh! Uhhhh... hey, there, Cap'n D.. oh my god..." She barely even seems to have stopped for a breath before her brain's jumping tracks, "You know, it just hit me... you're always so goddamned cheerful and happy. You're Cap'n /SUNNY/ D!"
"Well, maybe, but I'll never tell," JJ tells Sebastian, her smile impish. Everyone else is joining in on the song, even the quiet figure beside her, and she giggles at the sight of all the guest approaching -- and the 'Sunny D' comment just brings another gale of giggles from her.
Erin gives a little wave to everyone "Sup!" she smiles brightly to Sark and then waits for her turn for the hug because well someone said they are a hugger and she made a big deal out of it. She looks around "Lots of people"
Deirdre laughs at the nickname. "How can I not be happy all the time? Do you realize how awesome my life is? I mean, look at this boat and the ocean, and everything amazing." She lets go of Kee and then skips over to hug Erin. "And Erin, welcome back. A proper party this time." Then Deirdre sees someone she doesn't know. With a happy skip and a jump, she makes her way to Clem. Deirdre mimes removing her tri-corner hat (that to be clear, do not exist in any seeming) and flourishes it with a bow. "Allow me to introduce myself, madam. I am Captain Deirdre O'Brien. Skipper of Siren's Song. At your service, ma'am."
Dasia comes in from Prospect Docks and Shipyard - Docks Dasia has arrived
Janneke waves gaily at the recent arrivals, and approaches the lot of them, making an effort to lead Sebastian with the dangling huge bakery box in one hand. "Good evening! It's good to see you all," she says, collecting every-damn-one in her greeting so she doesn't miss anyone.
Kieran calls over, "Hey, Clem! Welcome to the SS Sunny D!"
Speaking of jumping tracks? Sebastian's attention wanders back the other way (he doesn't actually know that song, he was just making stuff up) and regards JJ afresh. "So do you have any plans for Ostara this year?" And yes, he's paying attention to the baked goods as well, peering in and reaching for the one in the near corner.
Sark cranes his neck forward to peer at the baked goods being carried around, gingerly snagging one when JJ gets close, while murmuring an upbeat thank you to her. He bounces on the balls of his feet for a moment while inhaling the scent of the newfound goodies before taking a little nibble off of it. He pads his way over closer to Erin and CLementine, smiling brightly at the little one before wiggling his fingers in hello at Erin.
Erin smiles at Dee "Thanks. I apoligize I didn't bring the cookies the girls made for the party.. I was in a hurry and left them behind I am sorry" she blushes "Running out before he cries was odd" she giggles then smiles over to Sark and gives him a hug "hey you, when we going flying again??"
The house cat makes himself comfortable somewhere to watch.
Janneke huhs at Sebastian's question and says, "Not yet, though I did hear about a party being thrown by Caressa for the kids in the area, and I thought I'd come and bring some baked goods, at least. Did you have something else planned?" She lifts the lid a little to let the long-fingered hands find a cupcake more readily, and makes a similar offer to Sark before holding it open before the others. "You're welcome!"
Clementine is happy to be here amongst all thse friends. She opens the lid of the picnic basket, "Since this is a party so to speak.. for the SS Sunny D.." not that she gets the joke here "..I brought muffins and cookies, and scones, and a few croissants - both with chocolate and without."
"Oh, that's good. I gave up chocolate for lent." Deirdre smiles. "Also, I do hugs," she says to Clementine. The, the Selkie tries to give Clementine a warm, welcoming hug!
Dasia ARRIVES! Her Voile is Heartspun as ever, and the same rich greens and blacks as expected, but the cut is something new. A sundress. I mean, she's got the gaudy, giant-rimmed hat, and the big 'maybe I'm hiding a black eye, you don't know me' sized sunglasses. Even if it's dark out. She's also got a decently-sized box in her hands, that's she's careful to not drop while trying to keep her balance on the docks. she mostly succeeds, with just the one close call!
Sark grins at Erin, "Wellll, since I can get to that lovely place now, it would be much easier. Plus I think some people were asking for language lessons so I can try to help out there as well and see how well it works. Havent really had anyone ask before, so that's all new. But send me a text when you're free and I bet I can make it out?" When he catches sight of Dasia floating in, he lifts a hand to wave at her over the crowd, still holding that cupcake close to his chest.
Erin looks curiously "Language lessons? What are you teaching?" she asks curiously as sh rocks a little bit on her feet after shoving her hands into her pocket. She smiles "Well It will be a day that my husband can watch the kids" she nodsnods "Don't think i want to take Eric up just yet."
Clementine will take that hug and make it a big warm hug as she welcomes the new gal. "So do I!" The boggan is certainly a kind hearted one here. As Sark mentioned languages and Erin asks more, her ears perk a bit. "Oh that sounds fun! I can also offer to anyone that wishes lessons on tea making and crocheting and knitting." Because why not?
Sebastian nibbles at the cupcake, taking his time with it, and arches a brow as Clementine arrives and adds to the list. "Oh, if I knew it was gonna be a pot luck, I would've brought some chocolate frogs."
Deirdre leaves Clementine to talk to the other Boggan. As Deirdre just saw Dasia come in, there's one last guest that needs a welcome hug. Playfully, Deirdre jogs over to Dasia to give her a welcoming hug. "Lovely to see you. And fashionably late, just so that all of us can watch you enter!"
Janneke offers to trade Clem a cupcake for a scone, then smiles warmly, adding Erin into the mix as well. "I should take you up on that, Clementine, someday I will actually learn to knit. I can sew, but I've never learned to knit." She tilts her head at Sebastian and says, "Actual frogs, or...?" Because she will pass on eating an actual frog, most likely. "I think any time you invite folks like us," she tells Sebastian, motioning between herself and Clem, "You get a pot luck whether you meant to or not. But she's an actual professional at it." Sark nods quickly at Erin's question, "It will be kinda hard to get people to speak it, but I think it is still useful to maybe recognize when its being used, perhaps. I mean, you'd want to know if you're being insulted or pleaded with, right?" He scrunches his nose in amusement and adds, "We'll see how it goes. I've...never tried before. I dont know how good of a teacher I am." The mention of chocolate frogs gets Sebastian a curious look, probably wondering the same thing Deirdre is, he just doesn't ask it.
"Hopefully Draconic, once I figure out how to do the growl properly," Dasia replies to Erin, once she's near enough to overhear the question and answer without shouting. Then she starts to glance around. "Anyone seen... ah," Deirdre approaches. She shifts the box to one hand, so she can give a side hug, with the chaste cheek kisses and everything, in greeting. "Yes, but hopefully not so late that I've missed the other house warming... boat warming... whatever. GIFT-GIVING spectacle." She wobbles the box in her other hand, to indicate yes, this is for the Selkie.
Kieran says, “Course it's real frogs." She shakes her head slowly, then gestures toward Sebastian. "Lookit him... he's clearly /French/...”
Erin takes the offered cupcake and smiles to JJ "thanks" she nodsnods. She looks thoughtful at Sark as is expecting for him to tell her what he is teaching but then looks to Dasia as she answers "Oh cool. I would like to at least understand it. Maybe learn it for whenn.." she leaves that there and smiles softly. She also takes a cookie from Clem and thanks both JJ and Clem "Thank you"
Clementine raises her arms from her sides on out, and gives a curtsy, "The Hostess with the Mostest. Here for all your needs, especially if it involves sugar and tea." She is quite proud of that, and then makes sure everyone whoe would like a treat will get one from her.
"Well, I /am/ wearing a black turtleneck." Sebastian is, in fact, wearing no such thing. Well, it's black, so there's that, at least. "It does explain why we get along so well, though, you being so /very/ British and all."
Sark chuckles under his breath at the comments and nods, "Like I said, we'll try a few lessons out and see how it goes? Im happy to help where I can." With that said, he takes a few steps closer to Clementine and bobs his head at her, "We didnt get much chance to speak when the group got together for the visit, but it is wonderful to finally meet you. Laoise did not say much, but what she said was very complimentary about you and Persy."
Siren Song's engines start to rumble, huge marine diesels putting out enough torque and horsepower to get the ship moving at a quick pace—when they are not idling, that is. The sound is unmistakable. "We can do that aboard ship. I really didn't expect presents!" Deirdre exclaims. She's just so happy to show off her pride and joy. "Okay, so, we should board. I plan to shove off and move us out about 15 nautical miles out to sea and then come back. Life jackets are just to the right of the gangplank if you think you will need it." She pauses to make sure that bit of safety sinks in. "Once we're on ship, the only other person there will be my cousin Molly. And she knows /everything/ about me, so feel free to be yourselves and talk openly. The rest of the ship is open to you to explore and view as you wish, just no sleeping in my bed—unless you're intending to proposition me!" She giggles. "That said, everyone, welcome aboard Siren's Song." Deirdre practically RUNS up the gangplank to get on the ship.
Kieran eyes Sebastian. "British, huh?" She considers for a moment, then says, "You're very lucky you didn't get the /other/ one of us in town."
Clementine is /very/ British, that is evident in many ways. "Not all brits get along, but do not come at me with a French accent. The French can bugger off. Even though I do like their pastries." Erin smiles at Sark "Well just let me know when your doing lessons and i'll come along" she nodsnods then looks around "so many people" she somewhat whispers.
Once aboard, Deirdre and Molly start to pull in the mooring lines as a dock worker on the pier undoes them. They move quickly, until there's just one left, at which time, Deirdre goes to the bridge to get set up to leave the docks.
Janneke chuckles and offers Clem a hand putting all the goodies on an available table for people to get. She touches Erin's shoulder lightly and says, "But all friends," she murmurs comfortingly. She then laughs heartily at the comment from the other Boggan. She asks Sebastian, "Are you *trying* to get Kee to thwap you?"
Sebastian glances over to Kee for a moment, then smirks. "Have you /met/ us? I don't have to try, it's just our natural state of being. Like peas and a honey-covered knife."
Erin smiles at JJ and nods "True" she does stay a little to the side as she eats her cupcake and mmms "this is really good"
The water behind the ship starts to churn as the propellers move the water. The ship's horn sounds in two blasts—that would certainly have made a baby unhappy with the volume—letting other vessels know that she's getting underway. Slowly, they move away from the dock out into open waters. The running lights turn on, along with the deck lights, bathing the ship in illumination for the night voyage. The radar mast above the bridge starts to turn as displays light up. The ship stays at a low speed while in controlled waters, limiting her wake. Janneke recites, "I eat my peas with honey, I've done it all my life. It makes the peas taste funny, but it keeps them on the knife." She oops as the ship begins to move, and looks out onto the ocean as the lights come up, asking, "Is this the point where I do the yo-ho-ho, or do we leave off the last 'ho' because that's disrespectful?"
Erin can't help but laugh at JJ "No no i'll sing with you" she starts to sing "Yo-Ho-Ho A pirate's life for me" she snickers.
Kieran sighs, shaking her head a bit, "Y'know...sometimes it just ain't worth it..." What, exactly, she's talking about, she leaves unsaid.
"If anyone wishes to join me on the bridge, feel free! There's enough room!" Deirdre shouts out to her friends on the deck as Molly finishes storing the mooring lines.
Sark wobbles a little when the boat gets underway, a soft 'woo' escaping him as he gets his balance back with a shuffled footing, but manages not to drop the nibbled on cupcake. Cant lose the baked goods! He grins a little at the pirating comments, but doesn't add to them.
Dasia follows along onto the boat and up to the bridge, finding a convenient place to ditch the gift (which might be in Deirdre's hands) before they pull away from the docks. "Aren't the lyrics 'Yar har, deedle-dee Dee?' she asks... Clem. She seems near-ish.
Clementine has not met Dasia, but she does like her style! "I thought they just sang about rum?" She shrugs not knowing for sure. "I did not realize we were on a pirate ship? I thought it was a pleasure cruise? Oh wait - this isn't a 3-hour cruise where we end up shipwrecked and using coconuts for phones?"
On the bridge, Deirdre says "Welcome to the bridge, Dasia, Sebastian!" Deirdre greets those joining her. "And Kee!" There's some chatter on the radio, but Deirdre pays it no attention."
Erin can't help but giggle over to Dasia and Clem "God i hope not" she surprisingly has pretty good sea legs, probably not her first time on a ship. She looks around taking a breath as she feels the sea air on her face.
Janneke sings a line or two with Erin, merrily, but when there's not much buy-in to the idea, she looks at Erin, shrugs, and says, "Well, we tried!" She sighs happily at the smell of the ocean and the faint spray from the wake. "All I know is, I am *not* Gilligan!"
"I think that may fall on my head," Sebastian muses, as he glances out across the water's surface. "Wait, so who's Ginger and who's Mary-Ann in this scenario?" Asking the hard-hitting questions, this one.
"I think there's quite a competition as to who would be Ginger in this case. I mean, look at all the red heads!" Deurdre says, turning a bit to keep on the right track, as she glances at the navigation display. She's got a romantic view of the sea, but she also has a deep desire to keep her ship-mates safe and no compunction against using the latest technology.
With things to hold onto, Dasia is doing... passably well on the boat, at least. Eshu feet... legs... whatever. "Well, wherever we end up, I'm sure we will get a good story out of it, at least," she says, making a little frowny face. Little, because TOO MUCH will lead to wrinkles, and that simply will not do. "I don't have an unlimited number of outfit changes with me like Ginger, though, so best not." A pause. "Unless we can find some Balefire embers on this supposed island. Then, I'll allow it."
Erin gives a shrug to JJ as they did try. She smiles as she looks around and takes a breath "I forgot how great it was to go out on a ship"
Sark looks a little confused at the asking who's Ginger and Mary-Ann (the three hour tour comment sailed MILES over the young man's head), so instead finishes stuffing the rest of the little boozy cupcake into his mouth and making a few obscenely appreciative noises as he devours it. He shoots Kieran a curious look before flashing another smile at her then checking the other faces out. With Dasia's comment, he bounces a little on the balls of his feet, "It would be fun at least?"
Janneke busies herself with swiping another scone from the picnic basket. Om nom nom. She'll regret it tomorrow... or not. She tells Erin, "Oh, likewise, it's been a while since I was out on the water. It's wonderful." Poor Sark -- or maybe not, because he's the only one *not* stuck remembering Gilligan's Island.
"All I have to say, is that if we get shipwrecked for years, we deserve it for our stupidity. I know I can swim for at least 12 hours straight, and we have a dragon. We're going to be fine." Now out of controlled waters, Deirdre pushes the throttles all the way forwards. The engines roar as they are fed fuel and the ship starts to leave a wake with her speed. The rooster tail has to be at least 10 feet high. Deirdre spins the wheel to port, just enough that the ship leans a bit, but not enough that she's going to make anyone fall. She's not that mean. "So, you all up here with me, any questions about anything?"
Kieran snorts, "If we get shipwrecked, I'm just gonna ride the flappyguy home. I know he's not staying stranded... his estate manager'd kill him."
Clementine laughs as she moves to look over the side of the ship out onto the ocean. "I have not been out sailing like this... oh wait, never. This is fantastic!" She is enjoying herself it seems. "I just wish Persy had made it. That girl has just been too busy lately." She looks at Kieran and has to laugh further. "Never want to upset the estate manager."
"And I trust that Kee will save me, somehow," Sebastian adds. "After all, I am her favorite sparring partner, right?" Uh huh. "How far out are we? Into international waters yet?"
Sark grins up at Deirdre's comment and murmurs, "Well, sure. With....seven of you to eat, I should be perfectly fine getting back home." He scrunches his nose in amusement at Kee and clears his throat, "She'd call me and get all 'angry mom' on me not getting home on time. Might even try to ground me."
Erin smiles at Sark "I'll explain later or show you later" she tells him before looking to JJ and nodsnods "It is rather wonderful, we had a crew once adventured out" she let's out a sigh as if this was soooo long ago. She looks over at the tilt and looks to make sure the table is still good.
Janneke chuckles softly. "I call dibs on being the last one eaten," she tells Sark, and then ohs as Erin talks about past adventure. "You did? Oh, I'll bet you've got some great stories! I've been... less adventurous than I probably should have been, but..." She shrugs and smiles. "It's never too late!"
"The benefit of sailing the SandSeas is that you can walk back to wherever the ship makes port," Dasia explains, when swimming and flying are brought up. An effort to lighten the mood. A poor one, but an effort! "Wait, someone here understands at least the basics of Wayfar cantrips... right?" She looks around. "You know. To be safe?"
Deirdre's cousin, Molly shows up with a tray of small plates. "For those of you who have not had a chance to try anything exotic, on each plate we have swordfish, stingray—both cooked—then there's Uni—that's fresh, raw sea urchin, and then Mantis Shrimp—cooked, then chilled, with cocktail sauce if you wish." She will happily pass out the small plates with bites of each fish to anyone that wants one. It's also perfectly acceptable to use one's fingers.
Erin laughs at Sark "Don't eat me, that would be so bad" she giggles "i'm spicy" she looks over to JJ and smiles "I have some stories of course, because who doesn't have some story" she laughs "Yes we won't be stranded don't worry"
Deirdre smiles comforting to Dasia. "We're perfectly safe on my ship." She believe it too, with all her soul.
Deirdre's hosting, so that means the fish are from her, and since Dasia has conveniently already provided her with a gift, well... AN EXCHANGE WERE MADE, THE WYRD IS SATISFIED, AND THE ESHU'S GEAS REMAINS UNTRIGGERED. So of course she accepts one of the little plates. "You've got one of those tiny forks somewhere?" she asks Molly. "The nails... such a hassle, but that's the price one pays, and all that," she says with the smallest of sheepish grins.
Sark waggles his brows at Erin and grins, his stance still a little unsteady as he walks across the deck. He pauses at the tray of seafood goodies and 'ooo's under his breath, taking a little plate and adding some of the fresh urchin and some stingray to it, then wanders closer to Kee as he tries some of it and rumbles his approval. He offers the plate to her to see if she wants to try anything when he slows to a stop, and licks his lips before offering, "Have things been going well with Miss Stella, incidentally?"
Janneke accepts one of the tiny plates with a happy expression, and says, to Erin, "Oh, I'm not worried, I have every faith in our Captain and her vessel." She tries a little of everything, each in turn -- yes, even after the scones. It's delicious, why not? She doesn't pester for stories, but does find herself a nice spot at the rail to enjoy the tasty fish and the night and the view.
ERin does go to get some of the seafood because you should try everything at least once. She smiles at Sark "Will get some popcorn" she nodsnods then giggles . She nodsnods to JJ "Me too" she agrees and then also finds a nice spot to lean to be able to eat a bit away from the mass of people. %TThe house cat comes to rub against her leg and she looks down at him "I hope you haven't been a nosy bugger" she does share some of the seafood to him.
Clementine is not big on seafood, but it's a party and it's rude not to at least try. The Uni looks strange, but considering some british food probably not so much. "Persy would love this." She is missing her twin sister and all. She thanks Molly when the plates are given out.
Kieran moves to start sampling the fish. "Mmm, this is pretty good." She nods a bit at Deirdre, "You should think about fishing for a living."
Once Molly has ensured that everyone has a taste of the sea's bounty, she makes her way up the ladder to the bridge. "Alright, Molly, you have the conn," Deirdre says to her cousin. Now that they are in open ocean, there's no real difficult seamanship left. "You know, Kieran, I've thought of it. I think you might be right." She giggles before turning and seeing a gift. "A gift? For me? You shouldn't have." Once she's sure that it is actually for her, Deirdre opens it, taking a look at it, unfolding the fabric. She cants her head to the side as she tries to make out the design. "Arf?" she says, mimicking the other half of her nature, confused.
"So, it's a snuggy," Dasia explains, poking at the sleeves where Deirdre can slip her arms. "To stay warm if you ever sail into waters colder than what we've got here in So-Cal. But that's not all!" And it isn't all. Because those sleeves look suspiciously like fins. "I found a crafty Boggan who spun a little Voile-work into it, so it doesn't just look like any old snuggy. This... is a Sandtrout." She grins a little, the smile coming DANGEROUSLY close to reaching her eyes this time! "You know... from the Sand-Seas I was telling you about the other day? It just looks like one of the babies of it's chimerical species, which I thought was appropriately fish-like for you."
Erin looks over to the present and smiles softly. She looks to the cat as they share the food so he doesn't go bug other people.
Clementine hears the explanation of the 'snuggy' but not a snuggy and looks very pleased. "That is some good work there." She tries out the food and isn't totally turned off by it. The Uni is odd, but she eats it. The mantis, that was different, but closer to what she might have eaten back in England.
Okay, the cupcakes aren't bad, but slightly weird fish? Sebastian could get used to this. Heaven help them all if he ever discovers cheap sushi. "So do we need to worry about landsharks?" he asks Deirdre.
Kieran moves to find someplace she can perch without accidentally sitting on the controls to flip the boat sideways or something, and watch the water as she munches. Turning back, she watches the gift-unveiling. "Oooh, that's handy."
With a happy Squee! Deirdre engages in a hug assault against Dasia. "That is so wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're the best." the Selkie twirls with the snuggie. "I will cherish this." Deirdre gives Dasia one more hug before turning to Kieran and agreeing. "Very handy. One year I want to sail up to Alaska during king crab season. Then she heads down the ladder off the bridge to get some cupcakes and other pastries. "Landsharks are not found in the Pacific. Or Atlantic. They're confined to Studio 8H at Rockerfeller Center. Also, if you want some more fish, there's a whole lot more in the galley below decks."
Erin giggles as Dasia is going to get gugged and she smiles softly. She sits down on the floor with the cat as they watch.
"No... sharks are the least of your worries on the Sand-Seas," Dasia replies, her tone actually more serious than the jokes other people might be offering. "You need to worry about the Makers. Who can be avoided easily enough, once you know how. But the heat makes even that difficult." She shakes her head, taking a moment to pluck a finger-sized hunk of... something, and pop it into her mouth - CAREFUL to avoid her lips, lest she mess up the gloss. The horror of even the idea of that! "Still, it's a wonderful place to visit, maybe we can sail there some time."
Kieran pipes up, "What about the giant purple sandworms from Saturn?" She looks totally serious, "They're a lot sneakier than the ones from Dune..."
"Well, I am going to go below. You all really have to see the lounge. And the rec room has this pool table that self-adjusts to always stay level," Deirdre gestures to invite her friends to join her in exploring the ship
Clementine laughs with the talk about sandworms and sharks. "sounds like you all have seen too many horror moves. Next thing, it will be a cocaine bear."
Sebastian looks over to Kee and shakes his head. "Oh, the space ringworms? You just need to make sure the fresh water doesn't run out, that's all. Shouldn't be a problem on a rig like this one."
Kieran looks confused, "Horror movies? What? It's from a comedy with that Batbirdvulture guy..." She gives Sebastian an even /more/ confused look. "Space... ringwo-... you know what, don't explain."
Dasia gives a nod to Kee. "Walking without rhythm is easy once you know how, yes," she says.
"Dasia, I think you'll love the rec room. The pool table is a limited edition, Bugatti, carbon-fibre pool table with laser-gyro leveling. If you like Gucci, you'll love this one. 500 grand, but well worth it for the flex." She giggles and heads to the rec room.
Kieran follows behind, "Wait, the pool table's made by race cars?"
Clementine follows along as well. Big place to fit them all in here. She's admiring the craftsmanship of the table here trying to figure it out.
Erin follows quietly after everyone as they head into the Rec room. She wows as she looks around admiring the work.
The Captain nods quickly. "Yup, made by the same people. I kind of want a Chiron, but, it doesn't float. If I got it, it would just sit in a garage most of the time. Besides, I'd rather spend money on other things. Erin's making new toroidal screws for Siren's Song." Deirdre gestures to the boggan. Kieran knows this, but the rest don't! Sebastian scratches idly at the back of his neck. "A lot of companies do stuff that aren't as well known. Couple of the big video game companies started out making pinball machines, I think? And IBM used to be known for typewriters." Kieran says, “And, you know, tabulators to make sure they could count all the..." She stops herself, "You know what? Not appropriate. Forget I said anything.”
Dasia moves over to the rec room, not stepping terribly far inside. She would lean, but heartspun voile and all. "It's fancy looking, for sure," she says. "I can't say I'do much playing, though." She holds her PERFECTLY MANNICURED fingers up, with the almost claw-like nails, in a faux attack, semi-RAWR manner.
Clementine hmms, "Interesting. I had not heard that before." Right up until Kieran starts to say a thing and then takes it back. "I'd love to get deeper into this beautiful contraption, but I wouldn't want to disturb the artistry of the build. You have a gem here, Deirdre."
When her name is mention Erin looks over and smiles "Should be done by Sunday at the earliest" she gives a nodnod then hmms "Or Monday depends on Eric" she giggles "I know I know I should of stolen a less demanding baby" she giggles.
Too late, Sebastian is already riffing on what he imagines Kee /might/ have been thinking. "And where do the chocolate-covered Twinkies go? That's right, they go in the donut hole." Kieran blinks at Sebastian, once again clearly confused.
"You steal the baby and send them off to someone to train them in the proper courtly ways and poke at them to try and get them to dreamdance their way into the chrysalis," Dasia replices to Erin. "Though I'm sure he will grow into a perfect little knight in his own right, it helps to try and stack the deck." She shakes her head at Kee, though. "It's still pretty dangerous. Air-hockey, or maybe skee-ball could be safe, but..." She has an unsure look on her face.
Erin giggles at Dee and nods "I just happen to really like the little bugger so I should work on that" she winks.
Maybe ping pong with pillows," Sebastian offers. "What about you, Kee? Say you got into Big Sisters, what age kid would you want to mess with the head of?"
"Okay, Dasia, I think that the lounge might be more your speed. Comfy couches and chairs, a killer sound system, 4k oled tv, and plenty of alcohol." Deirdre gesture for them to follow her to the lounge.
Deirdre smiles unabashedly proud as she shows off her lounge. "Let it never be said that I don't like to wallow in luxury on occasion."
Sebastian nods to Kieran. "Yeah, that does sound like a next-decade problem, come to think of it." Then he eyes Deirdre for a moment. "On /occasion/," he echoes. "Like 'it's Wednesday, that means it's two days before Friday'?"
Kieran looks impressed. "Wow... this is some serious swag, Sunny. You find these maps in the flea-market?" Because, yeah, that's where /she'd/ go looking for old stuff. Or old-looking stuff.
"But they're soooo easy to tease, being all gullible and trusting," Dasia counters Kee, about kids. "I mean, teach them how to keep their guard up and give strong, sassy comebacks to anyone who might fuck with them. Best defense against the autumn world is a good offence. What now with the booze?" Deirdre has mostly got her attention with that. "Who feels like mixing something delicious?" She looks around, almost like she's expecting someone to volunteer or something. The nerve.
Erin is lacking behind as she makes her way into the room. She looks around "Very nice"
"Christie's" Deirdre says to Kee. "And some other places. I had to get them insured separately from the ship" To Dasia, "Regretfully, there's no-one else to pilot the ship back to the dock, otherwise, I would love some rum. If you think drinking and driving is bad, drinking and piloting a ship is worse. Hazarding a vessel is a hanging offense in the Navy. And with all my friends aboard, there's triply more reason not to drink. But feel free to mix whatever you want. I only buy top-shelf booze." Deirdre beams to Erin. "Thank you. Hey, I know you have the screw to work on, but how do you like clocks? Old-school clocks, before quartz ruined their charm?"
Sebastian nods to Dasia. "Yeah, I'll give it a shot, not like I need to drive anywhere today. Or steer, even. Is it 'tie ourselves to the deck so we don't fall overboard' strong?" Kieran shrugs a bit as Dee talks about nobody being able to drive. "What about Molly?"
Erin smiles softly "I love clocks.. They are kinda my favorite.... The older the better. Do you have some that need fixing?"
"Molly is driving, so she can't come down to mix anything for us," Dasia replies with a sigh. "Okay, so the dirty girl scouts are out. Appletini is simple enough to make, so who feels like giving it a go?"
"She's good enough on the open sea, but the paths back into the dock are precise and something I wouldn't trust to anyone besides myself or a harbor pilot." She gestures to the bar and talks to Sebastian, "There's some naval-proof run over there. Naval proof, by the way, goes back to the original idea of proof. Run bit of history, if the alcohol is 50 ABV, then it's 100 proof. It's called that because when you mix black powder with 100 proof alcohol, the powder would still light! Naval proof rum is 100 proof or better. As long as you stay below decks, it will be pretty hard to fall overboard." Deirdre bounces on her feet. "Yes, there's a Drei-Pfeiler Werk Einheitschronometer from U-721 going up at auction at Harrod's in a month. It's going to need some serious love to restore it, but think of the history of that thing?! And yes, I know it's a stinking Nazi model, but . . . Der Kriegsmarine was one of the less horrible branches of the Wehrmacht. And, I think of it like a war trophy." She stops as she realizes she's been blabbering again. "I mean, when you defeat the enemy, you get to take their stuff."
