- Under the Sea: Deirdre is not merely a Selkie, but a sailor. A US Navy veteran, and now a fishing boat captain, Deirdre spends a lot of her time out at sea. Her company Sothescura Seafood provides quality seafood to local restaurants and exports some to Japan.
- Why is the Rum Gone?: Spiced Rum in America sucks. A little vanilla and nutmeg does not make a good spiced rum. Deirdre intends to create her own brand of rum that actually has spice and taste.
- Corpsman: In her time in the Navy, Deirdre was a Corpsman (a medic to the non-naval types). She might not have all her equipment anymore, but if someone is hurt, she will know what to do.
