Smoke and Barley - Main Room

The smell of spices, fire and broiling meat assails one's nose upon entering into the bar and grill. The soft murmurs of patrons seem a non-ending drone as the door shuts, blocking off the sounds of the city. Wood paneled walls are adorned with hanging plants and pictures of forests, bringing the feel of wild places indoors. Full spectrum lighting keeps the outdoor daylight feel of the restaurant by shining on the plants and pictures.
In the center of the room is a large curved grill, a specialty built item that allows guests to watch their meats cooking and the chef at work. Thick oaken tables are laid around the grill for those that would enjoy the dance of the flames as it sears the meat. The tables have large leather seats and are set for the barbecue feast to come, with a bucket that holds bottles of spicy sauces and piles of napkins.
To the right of the front door, taking up half the room, is the bar. The bar is a deep mahogany, a gorgeous piece with slightly dulled brass poles running along to provide foot rests, and an armrest, with comfortable stools lining it to allow others to sit. A mirrored shelf rests behind the bar, with light shining up through the drinks to allow them to be seen clearly. A chalkboard on a wall lists out the micro brews of the month. Beyond the bar a section is marked off and three cork dartboards hang on the wall.
A small hallway leads the way to a set of stairs, a private area, bathrooms and kitchen. The door to the private room is marked "Members Only" and locked.
There are waiters and waitress roaming around constantly with meat on large skewers to be given out to those who want them.

Smoke and Barley - Private Dining(#9526RAM)

Wood paneling shines in warm tones from the walls, the large stairway leading downwards into a large expanse. Glyphs are etched railing, giving texture as one's fingers graze over the wood. Full spectrum lighting brightens the room and keeps the plants that fill the corners lush and full.
In the center of the room is a large, round fireplace that burns merrily and bright. The flames leap high, and are tended regularly by staff. Thick oaken tables are laid around the fire pit for those that would enjoy the dance of the flames. The tables have large leather seats and are set for the barbecue feast to come, with a bucket that holds bottles of spicy sauces and piles of napkins.
Dark green walls add color to the lounge area, with a red throw rug in the middle of it, and a smattering of furniture including two couches, and four recliners, with occasional end tables for drinks about. The couches are both beige in color, and rather comfortable, while the recliners are green leather, and the end tables dark stained oak.
Opposite this wall is the bar, a rich and dark stained wood set low with red and beige colored chairs seated in front of it. Behind the bar are three large kegs on their sides each holding 4 taps. The reddish wood of the bar's counter is inlayed with glyphs, carved with care and polished to a shine.

Erin just comes down the steps funny she didn't come in from the main room. She has a baby strapped to her who is making some noises. She heads to the counter and puts her order in before she heads to sit down at a table.

Trey saunters down with an air of 'honest, I belong here,' chuckling as he looks around, noting the carvings etched into the railing. He can feel the press of something covering his Rage like a blanket; it's not a wholly comfortable feeling, but he also knows it's there for a reason. Fewer fights equal fewer dead shifters, and Ragemonsters gotta Rage. He watches as the young woman and her baby come downstairs... weird, he didn't see her come in... and he pauses to put in his own order -- ribs, which he orders with teeth showing and a happy expression. Then he looks around, pausing at the young woman who just entered, and saunters to her table. "May I join you?"

A tiny elemental dances in the eternal flames of the large fire pit. It seems to be merry, bright and high, and within somewhere one can almost see the joy of it as it dances and sings as it eats the logs it it fed.

Erin looks up and smiles "Of course" she adjusts the baby. She looks curiously at him "are you new to town?" she asks curiously as her drink is brought to her. "I'm Erin" she gestures "And this is Eric" she has the baby wave who is pretty awake right now.

There is a house size black cat that comes down the steps as if he totally belongs here and begins to make his way over to Erin. He jumps up on the seat and meows.

Erin looks over to him "It's coming and sit down don't be a butt" she tells the cat.

Trey nods, "I am, yes. I'm Steven Trevelyan, but people call me Trey." He smiles and joins her, seeming to be more friendly than anything else -- probably because it's not hard to scent that there's a mate along with that baby. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Erin, and Eric." He pauses, and says, "Is this a safe place for more formal introductions?" When the black cat approaches, he looks over, and quirks a brow. "Hello, small cousin," he murmurs. Little does he know.

The fire dances about, finally taking shape into that of the mighty Stag.

Erin smiles at Trey "It's a pleasure to meet you and oh yes" she nodsnods. She hmms "Erin Blixt, Deedname Tough cookie, nicknamed Troublemaker, mated to Sten Blixt, Rite named Stormhowler, Athro Skald of Fenrir. I was born Kinfolk to Mother Ananasa, and I am also of the Fae." she does a proper introduction "And Eric's title is longer but we won't worry till he can do it himself" she giggles before pointing to the cat "And that's Kringer"

Kringer just meows.

The clinking of glasses and the sound of beer being poured comes from the bar. Ah. More is needed, he sees. "Trey Treads-on-Thin-Ice, born on four feet to the Tribe of Riddlers of the Bastet, ranked Tekhmet. Just a kitten, alas," he adds with an amused air. "And kin to the Pooka, somewhere back in my family line, Gaia only knows where. A deed name of your own... that's impressive," he says sincerely. "I don't know of many kin who can boast that, but... you're a lot more than just kin." He turns his head to look at Kringer, and says, "Dreamforged, yes?" He pauses and adds, "Eric has a title already? He was Sained this young? Wow!" The fire swirls again, into the shape of a wise, blinking Owl.

Erin blushes "I meant introduction is longer" she shakes her head as something catchers her she's slow sometimes "Your Pooka Kinain!?" she grins "That's awesome. I am a Nocker" she nods and then guestures to Kringer "No Golem" she takes a breath.

Her food arrives as she order some wings and Pulled pork nachos.

Trey ohs and chuckles softly. "Well, the longer the introduction, the more important you are, right? I should add a few things to mine just to puff myself up a little -- once people know I'm Pooka kin, they'll assume it's all BS anyway," he offers with amusement. "I don't know as many Fae here as I would like. I'm careful about it... some of the ones in charge like to have exotic pets. I don't want to be an exotic pet." He might be kidding. His own order is ribs, a full rack, and he actually tucks a napkin into the neck of his shirt. "A Golem! That's an accomplishment too."

The fire trembles and then Uktena appears in the flames.

Sten would come down the stairs looking around heading over towards Erin once he does.

Erin is sitting at one of the tables with Eric on her chest and talking with Trey. Kringer is sitting at the table waiting for food. Erin nodsnods "Do be careful who you tell your of the Fae, When you tell the shifters side of the family about you, just tell them you are related to the Fae, you don't have to tell them what fae. Now if they are the higher ups maybe but it's safe to say related. Like I did" she smiles. When Sten arrives she waves him over.

Trey is seated beside, but not too close to, Erin, chatting amiably in a perfectly respectful way. He looks up as the new person arrives, and says, "Almost everyone in this town is taller than me. I'm gonna get a complex." He nods at that and says, "I don't mention it, usually, but you could easily see it on me even if I didn't, so I felt, better to be upfront." He smiles at the new arrival and rises, extending a hand to Sten in greeting. "I'm called Trey Treads-on-Thin-Ice," he says respectfully, "Four-foot-born Bastet of the Qualmi. Also distant kin to your mate on her Dreaming side."

A waiter roams around with huge skewers of meat, slicing off a bit for anyone who wants it.

Sten nods to Trey and bows his head "Sten Blixt, Stormhowler, Adren Skald of The Fenrir. I will spare you the the longer introduction unless you insist" grinning moving over and sitting down even giving Kringer a bit of a pat on the head as he does. "Pleasure to meet you Trey"

A kinfolk wanders by with huge skewers of meat, slicing some off for whoever wants them.

Erin gives Kringer a chicken wing as she smiles at Sten then looks to Trey "Oh that's good.. So how long you been in town?" she asks curiously.

Kringer rubs against Sten befoe he takes his wing and heads off to eat it somewhere else.

Eric on the other hand squeals in excitement when he sees his dad.

Trey waves a hand. "I don't insist. And likewise. I'm a recent arrival, but I did my equivalent of a howl at the local spot." He doesn't say specifics, obviously, even in a safe place. He returns to sitting and looks down at the full rack of ribs, offering some to the other two with a gesture. It's just polite! "Only a few weeks, though I hooked up a decent job at the local cat sanctuary already and met some great people. More, now."

Sten nods "The cat sanctuary I believe is ran by some of your people. From my understanding they are good folk" he looks to Eric and gives him some attention giving him a finger and a broad smile then looks up to Trey.

The fire dances about, finally taking shape into that of the mighty Stag.

Erin gives a nod as she also offers some of the wings and nachos as she looks at Sten to see if he wants to hold Eric or not. Well finger seems to work and she smiles. She nodsnods "Oh so you must of met Lyric then.. Did you meet Natalie yet? She asks curiously "And Miguel?" she looks like she is thinking about the other cat "But that's super cool that you got a job, so settling in nicely then.. Cool cool. if you ever need anything fixed or if your well just looking for me come to the shop.. it's just across the street from the Mall"

Trey agrees with Sten, "It is, one of them is the one who got me set up there. I'm hoping to help them do some actual rescue work, too. But it's also a good place to live, better than the apartment I was renting by the week." He shakes his head, "I've heard of Lyric, but I haven't met him yet. I keep visiting his store hoping to catch him. I haven't met Natalie, but Miguel, I know. He's great! Oh, that's good to know. At some point I may try and get a motorcycle, but I keep getting steered toward electric bikes because I can't drive yet." He picks up a rib and gnaws happily,

The bus boy throws another log on the fire, sending fresh sparks up into the air.

Sten would take Eric and holds him letting him be entertained by his hand and fingers while he does. "Miguel and Natalie are good folk" he would agree "Not seen them in a while though personally but I been rather busy at the sept so... mostly on me I am afraid" shaking his head "I am glad to hear you are getting settled in well"

A waiter roams around with huge skewers of meat, slicing off a bit for anyone who wants it.

Erin let's Sten take Eric and she smiles now she can eat her NAcho's without fear of little hands trying to get them. She looks thoughtful "Well if you want to learn to drive we can work on that if you like" she nodsnods looking thoughtful "And when your ready for a motorcycle well we can also work on that..

Trey smiles at the play with Eric; he softens a bit. Maybe he likes babies. "It seems like it's a busy place, but that's a good thing. I need to get set up with patrol duty -- I volunteered but I need to find out where and when I'm needed. I'm a decent scout in my birth form, especially." He nods, "Oh, I'm settling in great -- everyone here has been welcoming, so far. And so helpful. I've been learning a lot... and oh, wow, that would be helpful. I can provide basic labor in exchange if you need someone to lug boxes or whatever."

The fire dances about, finally taking shape into that of the mighty Stag.

Sten certainly does not seem like most people imagine Fenrir as he pays attention to his young son. He smiles to Trey. "She will make sure you get what you need, she is a wiz with engines. Even taught me how to drive" grinning broadly to her. "And I never driven in my life before either, never needed a car before I came to America."

The fire swirls briefly and finally takes shape into the wise Pegasus.

Erin looks at Trey and smiles "So you have met the Warden so he can give you the ok?" she asks curiously "you could come on patrol with us?" she looks to Sten curiously "Well when I go back I think soon i'll be able to be on the rotation once more" she nodsnods "And you tell me when and we can try it out" she looks to Sten and nudges him "Well you never asked, you just have too you know" she giggles softly then feeds him a nacho.

Trey says, “Yeah, I do a lot of walking, myself, so I wanted to get something to make it easier to get around." Trey's noticed that the Fenrir is definitely calm, and well at ease -- the presence of a much-loved mate certainly helps, but it seems the Garou is also just not typical. "Oh, I came from the other side of the country, near Canada, but... where did you come from? Was it hard to be in a plane?" Something he's never done, it seems. He looks to Erin and says, "If you taught a Garou, then I'll be easy peasy." He nods eagerly. "I've met the Warder, he okayed me. I'd be happy to do patrol. I like to contribute my share, too.”

Erin smiles as Sten is keeping Eric entertained and smiles. She looks back to Trey "Oh good good.. Sure I mean Sten I am sure would be willing to take you on a patrol with him" she offers looking at him before she grins "I also build Skully a doom buggy and he didn't know how to drive I gave him power wheel controls.. Do you know what that is?" she does take a rib it was offered and it looks good.

The fire swirls briefly and finally takes shape into the wise Pegasus. Trey grins, finishing a rib as Erin answers. "A doom buggy? I fear this. Is that like a dune buggy, only cooler?" He licks some of the sauce off his fingertips neatly, and then says, "Power wheel controls... no, I'm not sure what those do, I admit." He seems happy to share his food as she takes one, and he grabs another from the plate. The fire slinks down low and then shows Rat scampering across the flames.

Erin does offer some of her food to Trey and grins "yes it's like a Dune buggy only doom if you happen to get in his way" she giggles "So it's basically you control how it moves with a joystick up means forward, down means backwards. move it left or right and it goes in that direction."

Trey accepts a little of the nachos and tries them, making a happy noise at the taste. "Oh, those are *good*." He finishes his mouthful before answering, "Oh! Like a video game, only in a real vehicle. I didn't realize you could do that --" He stops. "I don't know how I didn't think of it, but yeah. That sounds like a lot of fun. You do much with electric motors?"

Erin smiles at Trey and grins "yup. What do need.. I have a motto. If it's broke I can fix it.. Just not relationships, that is out of my field" she giggles.5R

The fire swirls briefly and finally takes shape into the wise Pegasus.

Trey laughs at that brightly. "Well, I don't have any of those to worry about right now," he says with a grin, "So we're all good. Now that I've got a place I'm settling for a while, I'll think about that sort of thing when the right Kin comes along."

Erin laughs softly "When i use to say that i can fix anything.. Some smart ass tried to get me to fix their relationship.. So I make sure to mention it now" she winks "But yeah if you rather have a motorbike with that kind of controls we can also work on that" she nodsnods.

Kringer rubs against Trey's leg and meows at him.

Sten grins broadly "Not always just about the right... sometimes it not what you expect" he smiles to Erin and pulls her closer into a kiss. The crackling of a sizzling steak on a platter draws attention as the waitress passes by.

Trey smiles. "It figures, some smartass always comes along..." He grins at that idea and says, "I definitely would but I think I'll need to work on having the cash for something like that. Cool toys aren't cheap." He looks down as Kringer rubs against his leg, and offers the cat-golem a rib to gnaw. Why not? Sten's comments make him nod and for a moment, he looks thoughtful. "I figured... I have no idea what I would want aside from a good disposition. I don't really have a lot of dating experience." He smiles at the shared kiss and scritches the other cat so he's not just watching awkwardly.

Erin gets pulled closer and blushes rather brightly as Sten kisses her and she kisses him back. She pulls from the kiss and swoons nooding "He is right though, sometimes the right kin is not who you expect. I mean who would have thought that a Get and Ananasi Kin would ever be together but then here we are" she smiles "You will know, when the right person comes along" she nodsnods

Kringer is loving the attention from Trey and even loves him more that he got a rib ha he got a rib, he is one happy Kitty.

The fire dies down, almost seems to go out before it blazes to life again as the mighty Wendigo.

The sincerity of the love between these two gives Trey a moment's pause, thinking about what Erin says. "Oh, all I really care about is that everyone's happy about it. I wouldn't want to be involved with someone who wasn't happy with me. And... well, I'm born a cat. Finding a lynx would be easier, but not as fulfilling on a personal level." He uses one hand to scritch Kringer, and offers a little of the nachos to the cat, too, then uses the other hand to grab another rib to gnaw. "I'm told I'm pretty easy to get along with." Sten has disconnected.

Erin takes Eric back when Sten has to go on patrol. She carefully sits the baby on her lap as she smiles and nods "you do seem really easy going and very nice" she smiles "Let it happen don't go searching for it.. Sometimes when you search you miss the important stuff.. Trust me I learn that the hard way" she nodsnods "And yes you will need to be with someone that makes you happy and you make them happy" she grins "And for your bike don't worry about the price.. We can work it out" she nodsnods.

Trey nods at that and says, "Good advice. People aren't like game, you can't really hunt them." Well, you could, but that would be creepy. "I figure it will happen when it does, and until then, there's a whole world to explore, learn, and protect." He grins and says, "Well, if you're willing to work things out, I'm game to do that, too." The fire dances about, finally taking shape into that of the mighty Stag.

Kringer moves off again to eat his Rib.

Erin nodsnods "Exactly and explore it, get to know yourself and what you like and don't like and never settle " she smiles "Totally willing to work it out, we will need to figure out what kind of bike you want" she nodsnods.

"I... have no idea. Electric, that much I know..." It's kind of cute how little Trey knows about all of this, really. The cat is at sea about that topic. "But yeah... someone asked me if I was gay yesterday. I was sort of surprised. To say the least." He finishes off the last rib and chuckles as he gets every last bit off it. "Not that it's a bad thing, just that... I'm not exactly human-relationship-experienced." The clinking of glasses and the sound of beer being poured comes from the bar.

Erin bounces the baby as they talk who gives a little giggle. She tilts her head and giggles "If you were gay? Do you know what that means exactly?" she looks thoughtful "Feline born?"

Trey smiles at the baby, but doesn't approach too close -- he's worried about the effect of the Rage on the little one. Which is silly, because Eric was fine with his father, who is way Ragier than Trey. "I do. It means oriented toward people of the same gender. And yeah... four-foot born. So... I'm... straight?... I guess, but I don't really react to women the way a man-born would. Sex is... well, to a four-foot, sex is for kittens."

The fire crackles and little flaming Cockroaches skitter across the embers

Erin titles her head "Do you want to hold him?" she asks suddenly then nods "Well that's why they asked if you were because you didn't like go after the girl.. You probably will know when you get comfortable in your human form. And hey what makes you happy.. But your right going after the girl is the only wayt your going to make kittens so there is that" she grins "I know some that only have sex with Feline's to make the kids but don't date outside of that. So i mean it is what it is" she grins.

The crackling of a sizzling steak on a platter draws attention as the waitress passes by.

Trey ohs and says, "Would that be all right?" He extends hands, offering to take Eric from her hands, careful as one should be with a baby. "Oh, I don't mind the form, I stay in it most of the time, but... yeah, I could just make kittens, but there aren't a lot of lynxes around this climate. Bobcats, maybe, but... I don't think we're crossfertile." He inhales, and settles the baby into his arms carefully. "I think you're right. It's a matter of when."

A waiter roams around with huge skewers of meat, slicing off a bit for anyone who wants it.

Erin very carefully passes Eric to Trey and smiles at him. She nodsnods "I know sometimes we want things but yes patience and thime and when you least expected there it is.. And sometimes it is like Sten said the least expected person" she nodsnods.

Eric turns his blue eyes to look at Trey and smiles.

Trey meets the gaze of the blue eyes and smiles, touching the tiny hands and seeming surprisingly comfortable. "I think what I want most is to feel like I've done good things, made myself useful. And learned all I can, of course." He offers Erin a grin and says, "I think that's true of everyone. I've made some very unexpected friends here -- which is great. This is the first time I've been welcomed to a caern."

A kinfolk wanders by with huge skewers of meat, slicing some off for whoever wants them.

The fire swirls briefly and finally takes shape into the wise Pegasus.

Erin smiles and nodsnods "They are very very welcoming here, but you will run into a few that well because you’re Fera might be hesitant with you.. Just go with it, can't change the past.. This is my first place so.." she takes a breath "I am sure you will get along great here" she nodsnods

Erin giggles as he holds Trey's finger with that baby vice grips littles tend to have.

"That's more what I'm used to," Trey explains, nodding. "I don't take it personally. Old habits and all that." He looks down at Eric again and laughs at the grab of tiny fingers. "You've got a good grip for a little one," he says, amused, "You're gonna be a strong one." Back to Erin: "So far, I've been doing great. I've even met a few Elders who were really friendly. One of them agreed to teach me spirit summoning." A waiter roams around with huge skewers of meat, slicing off a bit for anyone who wants it.

Erin smiles "Well that's awesome.. Who was that?" she looks curious as she grins as Eric seems all too happy to be with Trey then looks back at you "That is good that you don't take it personally" she nodsnods.

Trey bounces the baby a little just to keep him amused. "Mercy's-Messenger, I learned how to speak to spirits from her, and she's been teaching me the summoning rite. She's great. I also met Mocks-the-Dark, George, and I really like him, and I know Irsa Hammer-Tooth, she's awesome too."

The fire crackles, sparks fly upwards as another log is thrown on the fire in the middle of the room.

Erin gives a smile and nodsnods "yes they are really nice" she stuffs her face with nachos "I am glad that they have been welcoming to you."

The fire dips and swirls and then Unicorn appears in the flames.
