Summary

The Kingdom of Pacifica borders the ancient, terrifying and majestic world of the Pacific Ocean. The high seas have never been higher, and the spoils of adventure never without as much bounty as the world's largest ocean. Join us in a story of intrigue, drama, wonder and terror as we tell the stories of Privateers - those who would put their money in their weapons and ply their trade for coin and bounty.

This plot is a series of one and two-shots, tied together in an overarching narrative. The story will touch upon Kithain life on the High Seas outside of the protection and domains of Concordia. It will explore that life through the various plots of a group of privateers, hired to do odd jobs that will take them, at some times, far from Concordia's shores, and into the deepest depths of the Dreaming.

A Hop and a Skip

The Journeyman, writ in hand from a Boggan named Roger Almsley, sail for Panama City, Panama to make a drop at La Playita de Amador, a Marina near the Panama Canal. While en route to the drop site the crew discover that the cannons supplied by their client have been sabotaged! Clouded by suspicion, they take a peek into the crates being delivered by talking to the crates. A person, and tubes with wood and eggs with rings. The crew decides to leave the boxes be, and deliver the crates to their intended recipients.

(Side Job) The crew of the Journeyman attempt to investigate and perhaps save the person in the crate. While the recipients of the packages seem confused and terrified as they realize that they both have a person and who it is in the crates, Wick restores the sleeping woman to vitality. And she attacks Wick! And freezes the others! And makes off with the other crates! Realizing his grave error, Wick, Cicada and Kringer get rescued by Timand and the others of the Journeyman making a daring race back toward Prospect and away from the anger of the Gwydion Sidhe.

Returning to Prospect the crew run afoul PIRATES! The Creeping Star lays seige to the crew but are no match for the cunning of the Journeyman crew. Attempting to flee, the Journeyman boarded the Creeping Star with the intent of taking prisoners and bounty. After a vicious battle of axes and gunfire, the crew of the Creeping Star gave up their hold, and their captain, Tamar Salazar, in exchange for freedom. Taking Tamar back to Emerald Dale, the Journeyman received their payment for a task completed.

A Spear in the Deep

Under writ by the Duchy of Golden Gate, the Journeyman was dispatched to bring down the Invictus, a rebel ship sinking Concordian ships that crossed from the Dreaming into the Autumn World. Heading to Hawaii, they learned that it was in fact the legendary ship of Accordance War renown, with it's famous captain, Goggen Ironfoot, at the helm taking vengeance for the killing of his Nocker wife, Ronnie, who was shot dead by a patrol skiff while fishing. Trading diplomacy for valor, they tracked the Invictus to the Phoenix Islands in the central Pacific, where they parlayed with the Commoner commander. They learned that it was not just a patrol skiff, but the Shadowfyre, a Sidhe warship of Prince Yraltien ap Ailil of Hawaii. Swearing an oath to avenge his wife in exchange for Goggen beaching the Invictus for good, the Privateers returned to hawaii to attend the Fae Court of Royal Governor Menehiron ap Fiona.

Intrigue was the name of the game as Roger Almsley, revealed as Queen Aeron ap Fiona's Parliamentary Representative, revealed the passage of the Seward Acts by the Parliament of Dreams that proclaimed almost all the Pacific Ocean, apart from certain bits, the domain of Concordia and all within must swear fealty. This outraged the Menehune present, whose only supporter, the Baron Reeve Lennidd ap Eilunid, was run off by Cicada as she supported the Menehune. The Menehune delegation leaving, and Court resuming, the Privateers discovered the culprit! Simion, a monkey Pooka, was played for a sucker. Love letters sent by his infatuation 'Dame Awais ap Fiona', he stole the Shadowfyre and killed Ronnie who was cited as a traitor and a dangerous threat to Hawaii. Following Timand's suggestion, Proclaiming his heroism in open court and revealing himself as the killer only added to the obvious naivity of the Pooka. The Court imprisoned him for crimes against the Escheat with the entire Court levelling everything from the controversy of the Seward Acts to the ships destroyed by the Invictus at Simion's feet.

War was coming to the Pacific. And it would need a good few Privateers.

Application

This plot will follow the Core/Guest system in terms of plot movement and activity.

Core
Being a part of the core group means you are an active participant in the plot and plot dynamics will effect your character. Depending on PC actions, this could amount to all sorts of shenanigans.
Guest
Rather than being part of the core group, you can instead ask if you can be a guest. Guest PCs can participate in Side Jobs, but participation in plot events will be limited. Not every run can support yet another mouth to feed.
This plot follows an open-ended plot system, meaning that the plot is not restricted to planned +events. They are organized as Plot Events and Side Jobs
Plot Events:
These events will chronicle the overall movement of the story. They will be run on Thursday evenings, roughly every 2-3 weeks, and should be planned for about 3-4 hours of your RL time. These often dictate official 'runs' of the Privateers, performing the jobs that put them on the high-seas.
Side Jobs:
The stories don't end when the sails go down. Wanna double-back behind everyone else and engage in some witty banter with that rogue pirate? Wanna strike a shadier bargain with that evil ne'er-do-well you met in the shadowy corner? Wanna go kill that rogue that got the better of you? These are Side Jobs, plot events that help flesh out the world of the High Seas Kithain of the Pacific. Guests can join a side job. Simply @mail Tabin with your ideas or wants, and we can plan something out for you.

Side Jobs

  • The Stowaway
    • The crew of the Journeyman learned that a person was inside one of the shipments delivered to Panama City! To discern, and possibly save the person, some of the crew follow the client while the ship is in port in Panama City.
  • The Prisoner
    • Tamar Salazar imprisoned for piracy and violations of the Escheat, Timand and Conn interview the Prisoner and learn that he had little part in the scheme shadowing their venture. Merely looking for a high value'd target. He did however point them to where he heard the rumor of their trip - Haven, a 'liberated city' in the Cook Islands.
  • A Lover's Tale
    • Following their parlay with Goggen Ironfoot, a few of the Privateers wished to learn Goggen's story with his missus. After a few drinks Goggen tells them the story of how he met Ronnie and got sucked into the Accordance War because of it.
  • The Old One
    • Landing in Ensenada, Mexico - Wick and others of the Journeyman follow a Trod that leads them to the aztec holding of Ipsha, revealed to be a Priestess (and freeholder) engaging in ritual sacrifice of a captured Gwydion Knight. As the Privateers contemplate how, or if, to save the Knight, the group come to the realization that Ipsha - and her plans - are grander than they. The Old One's feud with Duke Topaz would color anything they wish to do, and rather than go off half-cocked in the freehold of a people they do not understand, the Privateers return with a heavy heart to the Journeyman.
