The Eyes in the Sky
Oi, birdbrain! Where in the eternal skies are you flying off to in such a hurry! Oi! You get back own here, right now, hatchling! You come down here and perch right here on this ol' branch. I see where you're getting to. Yer heading straight for Prospect, aren't ya? Well, fine. Good. Plenty to see there. Ye got the Mexicanas to the south, and not far north you have the whole coastline of the western Americas to gawk at. It's a crazy stretch of coastline, let me tell ye! Be careful, though. Our kind have had a bit of a mixed reception in ol' Prospect. Not entirely undeserved. So you put on your best behavior and remember the Code. Know why you got those wings, featherbrain. Now get going, and remember! Fly!
The Corax are, well, the Corax. There is no real cohesion among them, as there are among the other Fera species although there certainly are examples of Corax forming little groups to tackle a particularly nasty issue. They certainly try to play well with all the Fera and the Garou while also trying to not play favourites. After all, for the Corax, ferreting out secrets and discovering the truth.. and then telling it to everyone they can find.. is what they are about. They are certainly not Gaias warriors. That they leave to the Garou and some of the other Fera. They are, however, Gaias little spies. And they do it very well.
Making a Corax for Prospect is as easy as 1, 2 and 3. Not annoying everyone to the point where you will get hounded out, however, is a lot more tricky. Keeping that constant balance in mind is the biggest trick. The Corax may seem like endless bundles of happy joy, but they certaily are not clowns. There is a seriousness to them that few spot and mistake for annoying levity. Be prepared for a Fera species that enjoy a surprising amount of freedom from strict Honor codes and restrictive Litanies, but certainly take the Corax Laws to heart.
Bird Things & General Overview
The Corax do not have Tribes or Auspices like the Garou do. Nor do they have Aspects like the Ratkin. The Corax have just one mode, and that is being Corax. You can be Homid or Corvid born, but in the end that only plays into certain psycological aspects, as it does for all the Shifters.
Some Corax trace their heritage to certain bloodlines and areas, claiming to be of something that could almost be linked to a Tribe. There is no special bonus to such a thing, however, more a cultural thing.
As a Corax, you get access to some interesting traits.
- You are not vulnerable to Silver, like most of the other Shifters. Instead, it is Gold that will harm you. This is thanks to the Corax strong connection to Helios.
- The Delerium is lessened in humans for the Corax, linking to the fact that the Corax never really partook in the Impergium.
- You can fly! All Corax have a raven form. Greatest perk there is!
- Corax have excellent vision. In raven form, they get a great bonus to all sightbased perception checks.
- You have hollow bones, meaning you get a bonus to most Athletics checks. However, you also get knocked around much easier.
- You have an intense curiosity towards all things shiny. You can't really help but reach out and grab 'em.
- You also tend to talk a lot. Ravens way to make sure you never keep secrets for too long, eh?
Perches and Sanctuaries
There are not many places where the Corax are not welcome among the Shifters in Prospect. For one, all Corax are welcome at the Garou Sept of Enduring Spirit. This is, provided, they do not screw up by being clowns and getting told to leave. Apart from that, checking out +hideouts/all will give you a good list of places. There are also some player owned places not on the list, that offer safe havens for Corax.
- Sept of Enduring Spirit - The Forest. +hangouts/jump Enduring (take note, you will have to get wetted by the Warder. There is automation for this.)
- Ravenscar Estates - The Forest. There is no +hangouts for this. The Ravenscar Estates is owned by Kinfolk to Swing Wing upon the High Wind and is ICly open for all Corax. To go there, enter the southern forest, then go to room #895 on the +map.
