A Samhain Wild Hunt
Eirlys learns about an Unseelie holiday tradition.
IC Date October 31, 2023
IC Time Night
Players Dasia, Eirlys, Taph, Sark
Location The Dreaming, near Lost in Time Market
Spheres Bygone, Changeling

Dasia promised Eirlys a first Wild Hunt to remember, and golly does she intend to deliver. Especially since the Satyr is being fostered by some stuck-up BORINGS of the Seelie variety, refusing to let her have all the fun she could ever want (and then some). She took a quick little jaunt out if the near-dreaming of the Meadows back to the Autumn World to make a quick phone call, and to find Prey for the festivities. Preferably someone who won't be missed if things get too rough, or if something untoward occurs while they are fleeing.

She settles on some DudeBro that is a known Problem on and around campus. Enchanting him is easy! Just some dross found here and there, it is Samhain, after all. SpookyDross is common enough! Convincing them to follow is tricksier... but there is a reason the DudeBro is a Problem. And Dasia, dressed as Princess Jasmine, plays into that reason.

DudeBro clearly doesn't have issues with hallucinations, because the Meadow that Dasia leads him to totally isnt there under normal circumstances. Plus who knows if Taph and Sark plan to play along with disguises.

She looks to the others when DudeBro has finally calmed down. "Is everything in order? Did you have any final questions, Eil?"

--- --- --- --- ---

Eil, staying nearby with her giant gryphon companion, lounged back on the sloped side of one of the rolling hills. The grass, sprouting orange and purple flowers for the occasion, caresses her sides as she waits. `I really hope that thing about you being able to catch me if I fall is true... I might get wayyyy too into this.` Indeed, all of this is a lie. She cannot relax at all on this night. But, she doesn't have to for -too- long before Dasia shows back up again with the prize! A mortal, here, seeing it is something else... but clearly much more something else for him. Grinning, she would trot over to the man with a naturally seductive sway of her hips--she has Cupid's Gift, after all--and give a big toothy grin. `Welcome, welcome, you find yourself in your own personal heaven with your own personal angels. Why don't you tell me your name before we show you a divine time, hmmm?`

--- --- --- --- ---

Considering they are in the meadow and not closer to the Market where people would likely be staring at Taph and Sark...Sark is DEFINITELY being more casual, all curled up with his head resting in the grass while he waits. When Dasia returns with the Mark, he lazily lumbers back to his feet and yaaaaaawns, smacking his lips, "Well, he at least looks like he will be fun...", tilting his head to listen to how Mark reacts to Eirlys' approach and address.

--- --- --- --- ---

"It's... feasible. Though it would definitely teach the value of a good saddle..." The Gryphon responded to the remark about catching falling satyrs, carefully not promising anything. It sat by where Eil was, until she stood anyway, wings unfolded just enough to stay limber and otherwise relatively tacit, keeping its gaze fixed on the 'lucky' guest.

"... holy shit, what was in those shrooms?" inquires the DudeBro, eyes going from Dragon to Gryphon to the Skeletal Satyr claiming to be an Angel and back again. Why, Dasia is the most mundane of them all, if you count the fact that her clothes are made out of silk spun from whispered proclamations of devotion between a pair of lovers on an early spring morning as being *normal*.

Look, Faeries are weird.

"In the mushrooms? Poison of course," she says with a strait face. He begins to protest, but she cuts him off. "Poison is all about dosage. Alcohol is poison. If you drink enough water, you can die from water toxicity." Is isn't the most reassuring of answers, but it's the answer she gives him.

He turns his attention elsewhere, the swaying hips like a target for his hungry gaze to lock in on. "Oh, uh... name's Derr-"

Again, Dasia cuts him off before he can finish speaking. "Wilbur," she declares. He looks at her, confusion on his face. "What're you-"

"What's once a man, but now no more, a pig lies in his stead; with wings and things to help him fly, he'll keep his head, or wind up dead, his fate lies in the sky."

Just... between the intense look on Dasia's face, the way she mentions 'pig', the way his snout starts extending from his face.

... no, that can't be right. Derr-Wilbur tries to speak, but all that comes out are squeals. The winged pig struggles to escape the mess of clothes left behind as the transformation occurs. "You have until Dawn, Wilbur. And to make this sporting, we will give you a head start." The corners of her lips curl up into a smile, and for the first time that any of the people present have seen, actually reaches her eyes. (Oh god, oh god, think of the wrinkles!)

"Don't waste it."

`Derrick. Now Wilbur. Perfect. Nice to meet you, fellow university student... and yes, it did hurt when I fell.` Eil would say, her own smile on her half-animal face growing wickedly as she watches him go through that equally horrifying and humiliating transformation. But, even if he currently wasn't much paying -attention- to Dasia's words... Eil would make sure he would pay attention in another way. `But fair warning. I have been waiting for this for a long, long time... so I'm going to make sure you flap those wings hard. Hard. HARDER. RUN BEFORE I FREEZE AN ICE STAKE THROUGH YOUR HEART AND FEED MY BEASTS FLYING PIG CEVICHE!`

Subsequently, the wintery glamour mixed with Eil's own colors would spark up around her as she hops up onto Taph's back in preparation... and close in on the poor man-pig's mind like icy claws wrenching into trigger his every flight instinct. Pure terror of the long night!

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark shuffles a little on his feet, what COULD be construed as an excited dance, "Ooo. I love bacon. And he looks like he has a lot of it on him." He listens to Dasia explaining the situation, then lowers his head closer to Wilbur. He SOUNDS like he's about to hock a disgusting loogey on the poor man, but instead 'spits' a puff of sulfuring smoke that hits him and dissipates into the air around him - honestly stinking like someone lit a fart on the man - just don't tell Sark that. The dragon just rumbles, "Best get moving. If she doesn't freeze you...I get to make roasted pork chops out of you."

With that threat made, he bops Dasia's side with his head and rumbles, "You gonna get on, Princess?"

--- --- --- --- ---

Beasts? Plural? Taph made a note of that. the Gryphon otherwise pre-emptively stood, lowering its front half in preparation for Eil to board. "Keep your head above the surface, Eil." it offered cryptically, glancing down to Dasia. "How much of a head start does he get?" it asked, instinctively dropping into flight-ready mode; long feathery wings unfolded upwards, rear legs bent just a little, talons gouging the grass beneath them.

--- --- --- --- ---

Dasia flutters her eyelashes at the Dragon, and puts a hand to her chest with the fingers wide. In a 'what? *Me?!?*' sort of fashion, but the feigned shock can only last so long before the corners of her lips quirk up in one of her smol smiles. "Of course, Sarkesian," she says, giving the dragon a little curtsey before moving closer and taking whatever assistance might be offered to mount him.

For flying. Mount him for flying.

She glances to the Gryphon. "Ordinarily a quarter hour, but since he's got wings and we started a little late, I think 5 minutes is reasonable," she replies.

--- --- --- --- ---

Eil, still locked in a manic grin, would almost pout at the idea of having to wait 5 WHOLE MINUTES now that she's all worked up. She would, though, take the opportunity to climb up over Taph's lowered body and adjust both their goggles into proper position. `Hopefully somethin doesn't get in your eyes, pretty princess~` Eil would tease, crossing her legs and just sitting balanced on Taph's back while they wait.

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark dips his shoulder a bit to make it easier for Dasia to clamber up on his back, seeing as how he doesn't have feathers to hang onto like the gryphon does, just overlapping scales that were not really designed to be handholds, but can work in a pinch. Once she's settled, he stands up a little more and stretches his wings out, leering at Wilbur. Turning his head all the way around to look at Dasia, he quirks one scaly brow and rumbles, "Five minutes? Boars can get going at a pretty good clip. This should be interesting. And sorry, Erin's working on a riding harness to make it easier for folks to hold on. If you slip, just scream. I gotcha."

With that said, he glances over at Taph and Eirlys and smiles at them, "Always a happy thing to see someone else in action..."

--- --- --- --- ---

"As for you, you've done pretty good at not falling so far, keep that up." the gryphon nodded its own sentiment up at its rider as she adjusted its goggles, glancing over at the others. "Indeed. A rare day us 'bygones' get together. Should be a memorable one, though."

Dasia gets some of her Princess Jasmine costume silks to work as a sort of makeshift set of reins... not to guide Sark or command him where to go, really, but more as an 'oh shit' rope that totally won't choke him if she ends up needing to pull it super tight. Nothing can go wrong here. Surely!

"Nothing that's worse than storm-blown desert sands," she replies, shifting a bit on Sark now that she's got the most basic of safety measures in place. "And though boars may run fast... or fly fast, in this case... we have the Dan on our side."

Mysterious.

She takes the reins in one hand, gaze looking off into the dreaming and away from the market so close behind... the other hand is brought to her lips so she can let out a shrill whistle in a peculiar pattern. A faint light appears and floats over to the hunting party. "Wisp, lead us to our quarry, before the morning comes." The little light bobs in the affirmative, and then darts off that-a-way. Not a straight shot the same way the boar ran, perhaps it is trying to hide or attempting to outsmart the hunting party.

"Let's fly!"

--- --- --- --- ---

`I mean... I can think of many things worse than storm blown desert sands.` Eil comments, stretching for a moment before pulling herself back into a ready position. When that whistle blows and the wisp starts to fly, Eil's smile returns fiercely as her dark eyes shine in the night. `BLOW EM AWAY TAPH! I CAN TAKE IT!` Can she take it? Maybe. Maybe not.

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark watches the little light approach and dance to Dasia's request, tilting his head at it curiously. He glances back at Dasia and her 'reins' for a moment with a dubious expression, but when she says its time to fly, the dragon chuckles, "Hold on to your butts." Muscles bunch up in his legs as he leaps up into the air and brings those wings down, fighting to get his fat, scaly butt off of the ground with his (albeit slight) extra cargo. Dasia herself is probably close enough to hear him lightly grunting with the effort and feel the muscles and scales shift underneath her in the process. Its only after he's a good 20-30 feet up in the air before he refocuses on where that little dot of light went, making sure he hasn't lost the girl on his back first before giving chase.

--- --- --- --- ---

At the whistle, the Gryphon watched the wisp long enough to get a bead, then put down some tracks as it pounded along its running start, then threw itself into the air; smaller than a dragon only meant lighter, after all. With the added go-ahead from Eil, its wings burst open and pushed it forward at a speed it had, alas, never carried a rider at. A quick backwards glance ensured that wasn't still the case.

The wisp doesn't move FAR ahead, but it does start moving faster as the flyers take to the sky and their speed picks up, moving a bit further forward so there's reaction time to any of it's maneuvers or change in the path (such as it is) that it leads them down.

It also conveniently slows when the party needs to slow down for whatever reason. Like, say... if some of Sark's wing-flapping unbalances the Elegbara on his back and she starts to tumble backwards, towards the tail. Sure, she's got those reins in her hand so she can catch herself before falling back too far... but so soon in the flight? This does not bode well for the hunt.

Not that the trademark recklessness of her Kith will make her think this is a bad thing.

"LET'S FUCKIN' GOOOOO" she cackles, wrapping both ends of the silk/reins around one arm while she crawls back to her maybe-safe seating position, the other arm outstretched in a 'that-a-way!' style gesture of just WHERE to fuckin' go.

Eil leansss down, as she's learned to do to keep her center of mass more closely aligned with the Gryphon, hands clinging on to his long neck down as she flexes her muscles to keep herself still. The speed DOES surprise her, causing her eyes to go wide for a moment, but whatever mood she's in now just has her LAUGHING as the wind whips past her face and sends her fur-hair flickering in the wind. She holds on gracefully through it... off to a good start! `LET'S GET THAT DAMN BACOOOONNNNN! SHOW EM UP!`

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark gives Dasia a glance back that...someone more familiar with him might recognize as 'this is gonna end in a Three Stooges-worthy moment, isn't it?' BUT. He does focus in on that fleeing dot and *launches* himself forward. Dragons are not designed for high speed or nimble darting around. Oh hell no. They are lumbering three ton beasts that breathe fire and expect things to be running FROM them, so the gryphon almost assuredly takes the lead right away with him having to kick in a little effort to keep up with the lead, while glancing back to make sure he has not lost his enthusiastic companion.

--- --- --- --- ---

Eil's enthusiasm was definitely normal Satyr stuff, and expressly reassured the gryphon with no side-effects of concern.

Slowly approaching its cruising velocity of 'fast enough to turn you inside out according to people from the 19th century', it watched with one eye the antics of those without Taph and Eil's cavalier bond. Less judging, more ready to help if things went south; a competition was fair game perhaps, but not finding out how bouncy the local fae were was important too.

Dasia leans forwards, too... not because of lowering her center of gravity or anything like that. No, it's so she can shout and be heard more easily by the dragon. Like that 4 inches will make a difference. She can also give the scales some scritches with her nails, so that's nice. "Watch the wisp... wait for it to update and show the path..." Update? Like a waypoint in a damn video game?

It'd be funny if it didn't literally spin in a circle as the party gets closer, and then shifts it's direction once more. Video Game Logic, indeed.

The nails rake the scales before she snap-points at where it's shifted to. "SEE? THERE!" And then she gives Sark an encouraging pat. She certainly didn't just smack him like a horse to 'go on, get' faster. Nope.

Eil could take a breath as her and the gryph came to that smooth cruising state, giving her the opportunity to look over at the princess and the dragon as they... do whatever they're doing. She almost chuckles at that, though -still-, she isn't just going to sit there and be complacent. There's something they're still so utterly -lacking- and she's going to fix that -right now-.

Taph would feel the telltale wintery glamour begin to flow on and around him as Eil would dramatically lift up both her arms to work the magic--trusting Taph to stay as he is in the meantime. A giant white collar would grow around the Gryphons thick neck, chill seeping into the feathers, before a similar one would grow around his face just beyond his beak and midsection as well. These rings would then be connected by taught chains, each link small and smooth and flexible as a whole despite each individually being unchanging, forming a full set of bridling! The reigns would be the last to grow in, Eil wrapping one hand around one as she sets her hooves into footholds shaped for them over his sides. He could feel the cold, but she can't, and to say she is -giddy- would be an understatement.

And if you thought that was it? Nope! A spear of ice would grow from her other, free hand, a giant quiver fit with more of those ice javelins attaching to the ring just behind where Eil sits. Oh yeah, they are PRIMED for the chucking if she needs more than one!

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark finds himself pulling up a little when the wisp seems to pause, getting out a low, "...update?" before the thing takes off again. That's enough for Sark to blink and then DIVE after it, folding in his wings a bit to trade altitude for speed - not PRECISELY the smoothest ride for Dasia, since 'dropping light a stone' means he might be moving faster than Dasia would when also dropping like said stone.

--- --- --- --- ---

Despite the wind whipping past the whole troupe at this point, chimerical ice was a jolt to the system, but not enough to slow down the old gryphon. In fact, with its rider slightly more firmly attached, once the wisp decides it knows where it's going, its entire body rolled into a kind of inverse-immelman flip, bolting free of the maneuver like a bat out of hell, wintery rider astride and taking in directional inputs from the reigns in tandem with Eil. Just needed to get close enough for her to chuck one of the pointy things; if either pair got into melee range, the fae wouldn't exactly be doing the talking...

The Wyrd encircles Dasia and her Draconic mount, lending speed to their actions and -

Dasia's grip slips on the reins once more, rolling back a ways this time before she is able to succeed in catching the safety silks once more. "Sark we need a harness!" she yells, nails of the hand not clutching the reins digging into... one of the scales/plates/spines of his armored hide. So... more scritches for Sark! He's probably enjoying all of this. The mere possibility of that gets him a glare from the Elegbara.

Meanwhile, far ahead and down below, the quarry of the Wild Hunt has shaken free of the winter's terror long enough to attempt to hide among a secluded glade of some sort or another. It's got a little pond in it, too. Pretty fancy! The boar has lowered it's head to lap at the water, and seems to be unaware of the sudden, rapidly approaching danger.

Oh, but Eil never once stopped looking for her quarry. Nothing gets past those eyes of hers, nor the literal eagle eyes of her mount. If Taph hadn't notice, she'd tug him down slightly to orient him towards where the prey has gone. Only needing to go down means only needing to glide, and gliding means far less noise....

Though, Eil, ice spear ripping with winter's power in her hand, would not even wait until they were in melee range to -strike-. Letting gravity aid her, she would go for the HAIL MARY shot, trusting the memory of her Satyr muscles to guide her throw of the spear down into the trees.

-CRRZZZZCH- would come the second of ice crackling against and rapidly freezing blood, followed immediately by a loud SQUEAL as the thing STABS deeply into him. It would come to music to Eil's ears, the poor thing now crippled and prime for them to come in for the final MURDERLURDLERING! `AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH! COAT THE FOREST WITH RED SNOW!`

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark really was trying to focus on diving after the pig and maybe making up some the lead that Taph has on him, but the feel of Dasia slipping again has the huge lizard flaring his wings out to retard their decent and slow him down so she can FLUMP back against his back again and hold on tighter. She gripes at him about needing a harness and the lizard chirps at her, almost sounding amused, "I warned you!" He has enough time to resume his dive once she's settled, fast enough with her mystical assistance that they have more or less a ringside seat to Eil's murderrage and strike that knocks the piggy down.

Now came the tricky part. Guided in by Eil, the gryphon was on a beeline for the swine, but had to slow itself or break its legs against the ground at the speed it was going. Thus, having been severely impaled, the quarry's sight of a silent descending winged being might have led it to expect something a little different than what it got, which was eagle talons pinning it to the ground and cutting into soft flesh.

Fighting instincts to take off with its prize, the gryphon remained where it was, wings extended, casting a glance back to Eil. "Is it done? It's hunted?"

"Fuck this," Dasia mumbles. Sark is clearly moving too slow for her tastes. She *lets go of the safety silk reins*, crouching and walling to the Wyrd for Wayfare to just... get her closer to the prey because BACON.

She should, perhaps, have changed from her Halloween costume before starting the hunt, though, because her slipper'd foot... SLIPS across the Dragon Scales, and all the previous tumbling? That's nothing compared to this failed jump. Her foot slips out from underneath, and she starts spinning and tumbling and oh look, she's in free-fall.

"... Aiiiiieeeee!"

--- --- --- --- ---

With that icy spear still embeded in its side and now all but maimed by the mark of the Gryphon's claws, wound leaking dramatically on the winged pig, Eil LEAPS off the Gryphons back to trot up to the thing trying to crawl away. Any focus on what else was happening around her would melt into her single-minded manic bloodlust--it's still a kind of lust after all!

Bringing one hoof, she would -pin- the weak squealing thing to the ground, place two hands on that frosty spear shaft, and YANK it out. Too bad the wound being frozen shut means less spray... but she can fix that. With a final pull back, she goes to STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB, blood brought out too quickly to freeze splashing onto her as is the dramatic nature of chimerical wounds. `haHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH! WARM! HOT! WARM! HOT!`

Oh. She takes a bit to notice his already fading from this nightmare, leaving the realm of dreams he was pulled into. At this, her glee would turn to a toothy expression of anger as her quarry is taken from her... but it's not enough to tip past the RUSH and WARMTH of being coated in fresh bodily fluids. `Rest deeply, piggy man... but know you've born your heart to me, for all to see... hehehahahaheehahahahhhhhaahahah....` Then, laugh fading, she would collapse onto the ground, adrenaline wearing off.

Sark THOUGHT he had Dasia caught up again and then she freakin' goes tumbling right over his shoulder, screaming the whole way. The 'Double-u Tee Eff??' is clear on the big wyrm's snout as he goes pointy-side out, flaring out and flexing all four claws forward to just *grab* at her before she tumbles out of his grasp. Thoughts of the Hunt are out the window as all four legs grab onto the tumbling princess and clutch her to his chest while his wings put the brakes on their decent, fighting to get them to a hover before they make a crater in the ground. When he manages to pull this off maybe thirty or so feet up, Sark grumbles, breathing a LITTLE heavily for the moment at the sudden burst of actual effort he had to put out, "Yeah. Maybe we don't do this again without a harness."

--- --- --- --- ---

The gryphon was happy enough to let the satyr finish this - the event was for the fae, after all - and so stood by as the moment faded. Once it did, the beast arched its head down to affectionately lick her face as it did from time to time - also wiping most of the blood off one side of her upper body. "Well done. You did it." it offered steadily, glancing up to the other two. "Everything okay up there?" it called, seeing Dasia dangling. At least not in freefall, but... not where she should've been. "Need a hand, or have you got this?"

--- --- --- --- ---

The Ice Spear pins the dying dream of the boar in place, even as the mortal is severed from it and sent back to the Autumn World. He'll probably be found unconscious just off a hiking trail... or maybe in a coma in a bush on campus somewhere. Meanwhile, there is all this delicious meat that can be gifted to one holding or another. Or everyone can be greedy and it can be roasted right here!

Dasia, meanwhile, sure seems moody, pinned in place in the Dragon's arms... legs... whatever. Their glide path brings them down by the other pair. "Oh, we're doing just fine," she grumbles. "So what are we doing with the boar?" she asks the Satyr.

--- --- --- --- ---

The Satyr, panting, would grin as the Gryphon licked her in affectionate celebration. She wraps an arm around his head as it pokes down, giving him a squeeze in turn, though she quickly lets it flop back down as she looks to the... predicament... the other two have found themselves in. With a broad grin, she'd cock her head towards the chimerical meat husk left behind under her spear, gesturing to it. `It's getting cooked... by DRAGON fire. Go on, make us the BACON in CELEBRATION goldy!`

Oh yeah, she got her prize, now she's just gonna sit right there on her butt and be lazy while the prize is made ever sweeter. `Heheheheh... as it should be....`

--- --- --- --- ---

Sark grumbles at the call from Taph, "Yes, I have her. Just barely..." It only takes him a moment or so longer to gently set Dasia down on her feet, before landing with a 'whump' next to her on all fours, taking a moment to shake his wings out before folding them in close against his sides.

He didn't miss the invitation to set the thing on fire, though, just stepping up a few feet to lean his head down and give Eirlys time to step back before he spits a few seconds of that orange and yellow napalm at the husk, letting it roast for a bit to make dinner for everyone.
