It is probably best not to ask where Harvey got the vespa moped from, that he comes driving down the sidewalk late at night. Or the large cardboard box that is secure on the back of it, appearing to be full of .. things. The box is nonedescript, like the sort you use when you pack up your apartment and move. This one is marked, however, with what looks like a little rat running. A sort of logo, almost. The man driving the moped does not look very friendly. Far from it. He has a somewhat manic look in his eyes, a dreadful sneer to his lips. Getting of the vespa, he unsecures the box and begins to walk with it towards a group of homeless people living here in the alley.

The alley, being... an alley, is an ideal place for the homeless to congregate, but what sets this place apart is that there are several grates in the ground that warm air comes up from during the night time. Smelly, but warm, which lead to at least close to a dozen people to gather here, families, kids included, naturally. Up in front is a man, a wizened old man with a gray beard and sunglasses, even at night, sitting on two upturned milk crates that are strapped together and modified to have a padded seating surface. Clearly, this is his throne. "Well well well!" He says, tapping his gnarled tree branch he uses as a cane, "That is a mighty fine ride you got there, friend. Heh! What brings you round these parts?" He raises an eyebrow, looking over at the box with that rat logo on it, a soft noise of wonder escapes the mans lips, "Hmmm?"

Will these particular homeless know? They might. They might not. Harvey has been feeding the homeless for months, close to a year even. Always the same method. Coming in with a box, marked with the rat running on its hind legs. Always with food in the box. Drink, none perishables. Food that might last a bit. Even occasionally vitamin supplements. No alcohol, but sometimes there are smokes. Then there is the man himself. Harvey does not exatly look like someone who lives in a home. He most likely does not smell like it either. Oil, metal and rust. And could probably use a good shower. He is careful to not get too close to the man with the sunglasses, instead stopping a bit away. He then drops his head forward, tilting it to the side a bit as he puts the box down. Once it is on the ground, he gives it a nudge with his foot, forward to then step away from the box twice, "For your group." leaves the man, a nasal and somewhat uncharismatic voice.

"Now, I'm just an old man who has seen his fair share of days come by..." The older man says, turning his head, motioning some younger guys to come by. They quickly come up, a pair of strapping young lads, twins form the looks, long faces but solidly built. Gesturing with his cane to the box, the two pick it up and haul it deeper into the encampment, towards where they communally store stuff. "And every time a blessing like this comes by, I thank my lucky stars that there is still kindness in the world." Back behind him, there is the giggling of children as something makes itself known. The sound of heavy panting, the laughter of children, and a fake scream of terror comes from a boy running up and past the man. "Hey! Careful now!" He says to the boy, but the boy just points and says "But its coming to eat me!!"
And, to what he was pointing to was.... Just, quite possibly the BIGGEST mound of flesh, fur, and slobber Harvey has seen. He's seen this form once before, some time ago, but this time on its back rides one of the children who quickly hop off to go chasing after the boy. Nova comes walking up to the older man, giving him a few sniffs of the face before giving him a couple good licks! "Gah! Ahahah! Down girl! Down!" And, at once, she stops, but her attention quickly turns to the stranger fren! The sneer on his face is registered and ignored, her big brown eyes looking him over from top to bottom. Slowly lowering her head, she sniffs along the ground, getting up and as close as she can, should he start backing up at the sight of a dog that utterly ignores any amount of predatory vibes that he may be putting off.

There is that word, that some use, where people have resting *-faces. B-word faces, a-word faces. In Harveys case, he suffers from a case of terminal resting Ratkin-face, mixed up with a hint of inherent Rage. It really is not easy for the poor man. But anyone studying his face, would perhaps take note that his general evil looking demeanor seems to be a natural thing. Some people just have such a face! To the old mans word, the friendly psycho that is Harvey lowers his head a bit and mutters out a few words, "Momma bless you and feed you." Not loud enough for the old man to ear, but the dog would for sure. Off to the side, there is a little ruckus among some garbage. A great big rat pokes its head out, looking over at Harvey. A little *taptaptap* sound can he heard above, and up on a windowsill sits another rat. There is a squeak coming from one of the grates not spewing out smelly warmth. These rats were not around before, and seems to have popped out with the arrival of Harvey. With the emergence of the dog, the man lifts his head a bit, turning his eyes upon the creature, "Big dog." comes that nasally voice again.

"Aint she?" The old man says, chuckling and tapping the stick on the ground, "Appeared earlier today, the kids love her, but she's too damn clean to be a stray. See that fur? Been brushed good! Smells like cake too." This gets a smile from him, and a soft sigh. "Her name's Nova, cordin' to her Tags. Odd enough, aint got no address on that tag of hers. Eh, I forget what else it says. Good enough girl, listens to damn near everything you tell her to!" He reaches out and gives her flank a pat and a scratch.
Nova looks back to the man giving her some scratches that feel really nice! It causes her back leg to go up and kick at the air as if she wants to scratch herself. Once that stops, she perks up when she ears some sounds around her, the scurrying, the scratching, the tippy tapping of tiny tiny claws. She goes over to a nearby grate, near Harvey, peering down into the darkness, seeing the beady eyes of countless furry friends down in the shadows. Curious!! Her tail is wagging faster, looking up, seeing the rats above... They are everywhere? Why are there so many? She turns her head to the man who just arrived, and she tilts her head to the side, letting out a small wuff at him before sitting down near that grate...

Then *taptaptaptaptap* comes the sound of another set of little tiny paws on pavement, as another rat comes scurrying from one trash pile, heading across the alley, towards another pile! As it does, though, the rat comes just by Harvey and without any real fear of him, scurries over a foot, around an ankle, and then onwards. It seems to be such a normal thing for Harvey, though, as he does not even take note. Instead, he looks to the grate that the dog sits by, "Many rats in the sewers. Not a place for you." he tells the furry thing, then looks to the old man, "She does look like wholly like a Nova." he agrees. And just, g'dang, he can not sound friendly! His nasal voice has an almost whining tone to it, and his words have a somewhat harsh nature to them. Another product of his upbringing, perhaps? His voice, his expression. All so natural to him.

Nova, for her part, looks down into that grate again. Are... there more eyes than there were before? Looks like it! Or, maybe, they were always there!!! She wags her tail a bit, lowering her head to sniff at the grate, smelling the sewer and fuzzy frens. Unique! She stands up and turns around, looking at the SEEMINGLY unfriendly fellow and goes up to him and sits down in front of him, her tail waggin, kicking up dust and fanning along loose papers. "Well now, seems like she likes ya." The old man says, getting up carefully, with a bit of a groan as several bones pop into place. He is helped by one of the twins, "Right, Im going to get some sleep... Thanks for the stuff." HE offers a hand in waving to the man as he walks, escorted by the younger men. The children follow quickly, leaving the two of them pretty along as everyone huddles in for the night.

Harvey waits around, though, for some reason. Perhaps waiting to see if the homeless will ask anything more of him; he is here to help, even though he does not exactly openly voulenteer that information to them outside of giving them the box of food and supplies. His eyes goes to the dog as it comes up to sit in front of him, "I did not bring dog food." he tells the dog, his voice droning out in that tone of his. To a regular human, they might find a reason to not talk to him anymore. But a dog? A dog might very well not care what his voice sounds like, "All I brought for them." he motions to the little alleyway homeless village.

Nova tilts her head to the side, and to the other side, sniffing the air softly, smelling that rusty scent on the stranger in front of her! She bleps out her tongue, not making any sounds of protest or of want, but... a move of acceptance, looking back to the alleyway and back to the man. From one of the tents comes a little girl, about six years old? She is bundled up in a thick coat, but otherwise some normal clothes one might wear to bed, comfortable loose children's clothes. She is coughing softly, clearly suffering some form of illness. The noise gets the dogs attention, her ears flattening, the tail wagging stopping, her front paws doing a little tippy tap in place. This dog CLEARLY understands that this girl isnt well, but its just a dog! Might just be reacting to the sudden loud sounds the little girl is making. She, Nova, whines softly...

Does Harvey truly remember the dog from the food raid they did? It is entirely possible. He may be a burn-happy little psychotic rat with delusions, but he does have a good memory. He looks to the child as well, then looks to the dog. And like any creature that was once a human (even though Harvey might not fully remember what that was like), he talks to the dog as if it would understand, "Medicine in the supplies. She'll be good." he puts a hand on the head of the floof that is the dogs head.

Nova lifts her head up into the hand on her head! Huffing softly at the attention she gets when she is a bit worried for that girl. Her ears shoot up, and relax. Her tail wags quickly and she actually smiles a bit! She wouldnt remember Harvey given the fact that he didnt look like this before, aaand because the only rat that she interacted with was a pure white rat who rode on her head for a bit before they parted ways, so she really does see rats as her friends. Her headfluff is SO INCREDIBLY SOFT!! Like, fluffy, warm, and she really does smell like cake! That little girl goes deeper into the makeshift village, looking for some kind of help.

Harvey is, shall we say, the anti-healer. Or he might very well have gone in there to see to the kid; Ratkin may hate the general gathering of Mankind, but the downtrodden and those that live down where Momma Rat lives? Those are not hated. As much. But, he is no healer. He put in medicines in the box, so they will make do. He looks to the dog once more, giving the head of it a pat pat, with his grimy, stained hand, "My duty to Momma is done for tonight." he says, looking to the dog, "Streets are not safe for creatures like you. You should go home."
