Status
What is it? Why should I care?
(For factions/races other than Camarilla vampires, see the bottom of this page.)
Status is a measure of your social standing within the local Camarilla pecking order. High standing means the community tends to work with you, low standing means it tends to work against you. Elders still look down on you, but if you have high standing, they look down on you a little less. As physical violence against fellow Camarilla is generally proscribed, social violence becomes more important.
How does it work?
Status Rating is calculated based on:
- Holding a position (Prince/Imperator, Duke/Duchess = 25; Seneschal, Primogen, Keeper, Court Harpy = 20; Scourge, Sheriff = 15; Assistant Harpy, Assistant Keeper, Deputy, Whip = 10; Emeritus = 7)
- Some relevant merits/flaws (e.g. Prestigious Sire)
- Status can be penalized for scandalous behavior, or rewarded for good behavior or compensating for past scandalous behavior (+help +harpyreq)
- Caitiff/14th Generation begins at (-1); 15th Generation begins at (-5).
Credit Rating can be loaned for favors (+help +boon)
- This doesn't directly affect Status Rating, but indicates how the use of Status Rating may be affected in practice (if someone feels strongly enough about an issue to call in boons over it).
- For simplicity, boons involving NPCs OOCly go through +harpyreq instead, and do directly affect Status Rating.
Suggested scale for boons and scandal: +5 for saving another Kindred's life, -5 for getting another Kindred killed. Minor events are worth fewer points in either direction. See Prestation for more examples.
The Camarilla also tracks Status Traits which grant specific privileges or penalties.
Scandal
Scandal for Camarilla is like renown for shifters, but in reverse: it reduces their status. This can be offset by good behavior that benefits the Camarilla in some significant fashion.
Scandal is judged by the harpies. PCs can become a harpy with suitable support from other PCs. (See Guide to the Camarilla page 30.) Staff, see '+shelp +harpy' for notes on how to process requests.

Other factions/races

- Changelings have Title.
- Demons have Eminence.
- Wraiths also have the Status background.
- Other races not listed above (e.g. mages) may also have Status.
