Updates
I will be mailing people on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week who have signed up for the event through +events to see how they want to be involved. That is, are they exploring one aspect or another of the fog, looking into the murders, etc.
Any discoveries will be posted here (OOCLY) of course.
What is Known
The following information could be cleaned from local sources without too much difficulty.
- Five people have been 'murdered'.
- Victim #1: Man: Walking home from friend's house on campus.
- Victim #2: Man
- Victim #3: Woman: Walking dog. Dog untouched by fog.
- Victim #4: Man
- Victim #5: Woman
- Police are still waiting dental recognition from the piles of bones
- Several eye witness have described seeing the victim walking on the street, consumed by the fog and only the bones and clothes remain.
- The victims are seemingly random, having no commonality to them.
- The 'fog' moves about the city, never appearing in the same place twice.
Investigations
(Any information that is uncovered through investigation will go here. Since I don't want to break anyone's OOC Masquerade, I won't post -who- got he information but I will post how so that others can learn of the stuff OOCLY. If you want to learn the stuff ICLY, page me. This just saves me from having to type the same information over and over again to three people who all found the same info 3 different ways.)
11-5-13
- Investigations with the police reveal that the bones have been sent off to a forensic lab to see if a dental match can be found.
- The clothing of the victims remains local to the police's evidence room.
- There were only four piles of clothes recovered for 5 victims.
- Spirit Touch on clothing Results:
- #1: John Roberts: College Student. Didn't see what came for him. One minute it was just incredibly black around him and the next he was gone.
- #2: Greg Bevel: Landlord. Coming home from his grandson's game. He got out of the car as the fog surrounded him. The lights went out of the street light, the air grew cold and everything went quiet. He felt a pain on his ankle, then on his hand and then a great wind seemed to swirl around him before he fell to the ground and everything went blurry. Before he died, he saw this: Image
- #3: Millica Meadows: Secretary. Out walking her dog when everything went her pet started to freak out and bark at...nothing. Then the whole street corner went black except for a small pool of light under a street lamp, the air grew so cold she could almost see her breath before she noticed the eyes. Image
- #4: Evan Hudson: Engineer. No clothing. Only a towel near by when found. Towel shows only an image of a hot shower and that he was not alone. There was someone -else- with him in the shower who also used the towel. Difficult to tell which image is the dead man and which isn't. The room went black, the shower's heat was stolen away and a fierce wind -sucked- Evan out of the shower onto the floor. He was dead in seconds.
- #5: Tonya Maynard: Antique's Dealer: Walking home from the parking garage she uses near her apartment. The attack happened when she was in the stairwell. Similar circumstances with the sudden loss of light, cold temperature and strong breeze but this time there was something different. This time she did not 'just' fall dead. She spoke words. She drove them back, for a time, at least. She -killed- some of the...somethings. She would not fall so easily. In the end there was a pain in her back. Not the sting felt by the others but something sharp and long; a blade. She was stabbed. When she turned she recognized the face though it was blurry in this vision and her last word was simply, "You!" Image
- The spirits of the dead around Location #4 report that they felt a stir as though someone was about to cross over but there were no new arrivals - as if the spirit was somehow caught before it crossed.
11-7-13
- #1 was a residential college student (not from the area) who seemingly has no connection to anyone -BUT- the place he was coming home from was owned by #2.
- #2 was a crooked as an Appalachian Highway. He was gouging people for rent all the time - had low-end properties all over town and was sort of an 'up and comer' in property development. He lived fairly modestly (to keep his wealth hidden) but if he were to sell everything off he was worth millions.
- #3, the Secretary, worked in the City Development Commission. She was a data processor who handled all of their GIS (Geographic Information Systems) work concerning the plotting out of subway lines, Sewer lines, etc. No enemies, no drama. Not even a parking ticket.'
- #4 was secretly gay. Though married and had a house, wife, 2.5 kids out in the 'burbs, he also maintained a small apartment in the city. And wouldn't ya know it - the apartment was owned by #2. He was a civic engineer and was one of the consulting engineers on a project to create a new metro line under the city.'
- #5 ran an antique store which is now closed. The store is small, open only by appointment and seemingly successful enough to keep the bills paid. No one of her business neighbors can ever remember talking to her for any length of time but she seemed 'nice but preoccupied'. #5 was also known to be at the shop at all hours and was rumored to live up on the second floor. She had no website, no 'modern' advertising. She opened the business about a year ago (according to the business license) and moved into the building that was previously a travel agency and before that an insurance agency and previous to that was a...wait...a doctor's office. A doctor's office at the turn of the century where four children died of the Spanish Influenza - five years -after- it was gone from the country.
- About 60 years ago, the owner of #5's building married into #2's family.
- #5: Prior to one year ago, she does not exist. Not so much as a previous address. She's not done anything. Not gone to college, not from this area, etc. It's as though she appeared out of thin air for the 'assumed name' the business is under. The name you found was not the owner of the business (officiallY).

Last Minute Investigations
- A large map was recovered from #5's place of business.
- An old, leather journal was also recovered from #5's place of business.
- A name was discovered for the Fog; an ancient and dread name that even the Wraith fear.
- The journal, once spirit-touched, sent fear into a nearby vampire as though he were standing next to a bonfire and a strange sound into the head of the woman who -dared- make contact with it. The sound: http://tinyurl.com/lywu6se
SCENE LOG
<OOC> Never says, "Ok. So... Silvana has emerged onto the street (belvedere?) and is heading for her car when the street-lights dim at her approach. Her car, oddly enough, will not start and seemingly all electronics around her refuse to operate. Aeric has been 'called' to the location by another. He will arrive (conveniently) when Silvana is outside in her bubble of non-electric-ness. Ok?"
<ooc> Immediately upon arriving you notice something is wrong. There is a bubble surrounding Silvana that extends to about 50 yards in every direction where technology refuses to operate. So, no power, no electronics, etc.'
<OOC> As the others begin to gather around Silvana a disembodies voice calls for the return of 'the map': http://tinyurl.com/l6wwkwl
<OOC> Well, there are two kinds of magic going on. A) the anti-tech bubble and B) the voice. The bubble is local to the book in Silvana's hand. The voice is from a distance away. The magic of the book appears to be pre-rebellion angelic in nature.
<OOC> Never says, "SO - Jax and Aeric are 'at a safe distance' away from Silvana who has Caim and Wyatt with her. The voice echoed once and is gone. For 50 yards around Silvana no electronic technology will work. Your call."
<OOC> Jax returns to his office to collect the sewer/metro map and secure it.
<<SCENE>> (now that Silvana is back with us) The ambient darkness of the street where the small crowd has gathered seems to fall quiet, disturbingly quiet. Though there were no lights overhead, no eletronicially fueled sounds around them there was still the sounds of the city proper. Car horns and idiots screetching their tires trying to look cool. But here, here and now, it has fallen quiet. The darkness about a block to the east seems to intensify - the gray black of the absence of eletronic light now seems to become a black-on-black patch of midnight that has never been cleared by a dawn. At Wyatt's challenge, the bubble wrap surrounding the leather journal starts to heat up in his hand - to the point of becoming a mushy paste that starts to drip to the asphalt at his feet leaving only the leather cover in its place.
It is at this point that the silence is broken.

<<SCENE>> With the cover revealed, Wyatt spies a symbol on the cover. It is the angelic symbol for Auriel - Bringer of the Dawn. http://tinyurl.com/kx32uwd
<<SCENE INFO>>Auriel isn't exactly Uriel - more like a Lieutenant. (for our purposes tonight). If Silvana told you what she got with her first touch - the 5th victim was able to hold the darkness back by 'muttering words'. Where do you think she learned them?'
<<SCENE>> The winds called up by Caim seem to buffet and disturb the swarm around the edge - keeping them from tightening the circle around the group at least for a time.
<<SCENE>> As Silvana holds the book and is presumably ready to speak, the sound of the fluttering creatures is dimmed by their voices. http://tinyurl.com/pucxee5
<<SCENE>> The Chanting has driven the swarm into a frenzy. Half don't know if they should flea or attack. Some begin smashing aginst the wind barrier created by Caim, others fly off in a dozen tiny trails of smoke. Two manage to break through and make for Wyatt and the Wraith with him.
