Space Boat - Low Earth Orbit

Space. The final frontier. Hanging in low earth orbit within the Aetherial realm is this patchwork ship. It looks like a gigantic child smashed several kinds of earthly ships together and forced them to be a single object. Many floored and wrapped in balconies like a paddle boat, spiked with massive masts like a galley, it could hold a small village worth of folk aboard it comfortably. The ship is outfitted for long voyages away from home, and crewed almost entirely by spirits. There's a glass enclosed garden to produce food that's overseen by Sun and Water and tended by plant Naturae. A Lounge is available for drinks and food, with tables, beanbag chairs, and of course a karaoke machine that is jealously guarded and powered by an Electricity elemental. A section of the lounge has been built entirely of glass, so that one can sing and dance amongst the stars without getting lost in them. The bridge is dominated by bizarre devices of umbral exploration, from a bejeweled armillary sphere for steering to consoles of mounted maps and strange navigational devices. There aren't intercoms on the ship, but there are large mouthed lizards that yell the captain's orders across the ship when needed. A pennon waves at the highest point of the ship, and it's sails are huge, marvelous things of red and gold, black and silver. A small row boat kept at the stern provides a quick and automated way to get to a planet's surface and back again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iris is in the office just off the bridge where she keeps most of her notebooks and stuff for... everything, really. But Trey knows that because he's tethered to Iris still while in the umbra. Possibly until this moment he's been trying to struggle through some homework related to piloting the ship. Like how to read cheat sheets and triangulate a few things so that he knows his position relative to the orbital arc he's trying to intercept or... something. You gotta learn how to not slam the ship into a planet because you didn't carry the 1, basically.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey has indeed been perusing the notebooks. He tends to use the post-its he's put in there most of the time, with occasional forays into The Pile just for shiggles to grab one he hasn't seen before. He has a few of them open in his lap along with a couple of star charts and his own notebook to try and take notes. "Times like this, I think I should learn how to do more with a computer than look at sexy lynxes on Instagram."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"If it makes you feel any better, I think that sort of thing all the time." Iris admits while using a ruler to make sure a line is nice and straight before she goes at it with ink. "I can google, and that's... it, pretty much. Sometimes I even fail at THAT!" NONE dots in Computers! "You know, your chart isn't being nearly as difficult Irsa's was, but I'll be damned if you don't really test my abilities to make super long lines without missing the mark and sending them off in weird directions."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey blinks. "You look at sexy lynxes on Instagram? I'm hurt." He grins at that and watches her drawing the line, curious as always. "I manage to do the things Casey showed me how to do. She made me shortcut thingies on the worktop and I just click on them. I like to put my data from my notebooks into the computer so I can put all the things from one topic together. Or at least, I do that in theory. I don't know how to make a database or whatever, but... I should try and see if Jack or Mike can do that for me." Also zero dots! "My chart is bad? Am I going to be discovering that my ass is in the ninth house and my brain is in the first?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Look, man. Lynxes are the Corgies of the cat world, they got fluffy butt chaps and are made to twerk it, what do you *want* from me?? I'm only human! Ish." Iris says, though in an overly dramatic tone as if trying to explain to her wife that yes, YES, she looked at another woman, but only because she's a man! ... WOMAN! You know what I mean. "Oh no, your chart isn't bad, not at all, you've just got a lot of influence here from distant bodies, so they take longass lones to connect instead of shortass lines from the inner planets. That's what Irsa's was doing, her inner planets were just going bonkers and like everyone had something to say about the whole thing. She refused to believe me when I told her Venus has declared her a sexy bitch. Yours is, so far any way, really interesting and as far as I can tell toooootally accurate to the cat I've gotten to know."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey laughs at that, and says, "Okay, I can't say I blame you for that. We *are* kind of adorable. Only ones I think I like more are the manul, because they're eeny weeny but have so much attitude." He tilts his head to one side as she says this, and says, "A lot of distant influence. Like from Pluto?" He ohs and then says, "Irsa *is* a sexy bitch. I mean, as far as wolf women go, yeah. She's fierce and badass and loyal and loving. And very, very tough. What's not to love? Human men are mostly stupid if they can't see that." He mmms again and says, "So it does seem like me? That's really cool. I was worried it would come out with something about me needing to, I dunno, try and run a used car lot or something."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Exactly. Her sexy qualities aren't often the kind homids look for, but she's gonna end up causing a fight between some lupus kin boys one of these days." Iris says with a snicker of amusement over her apprentice. "You *do* acctually have some influence from Pluto directly, but I haven't written that part down just yet. Here, um... Okay seeeeee...." she searches the chart for a good example of stuff. "Ah ha, okay here, this is Neptune here, and the moon here, and you see how they're connectable with this line here, because they're in complimenting sectors of the chart? ...That was a stupid way to phrase things. They're direct neighbors that mirror each other regardless of distance, so I can connect them with a line and there's nothing interrupting them. That was a bit better. ANYhoo..."

"The moon and Neptune are in conjunction, so they're having a twin influence rather than just a side influence. Neptune is water and weaving, the celestine there is a spirit of order, a weaver of skeins, someone that understands the tapestry of reality. The moon is passion and emotion. With these two together, taking into account your breed as the Eyes of Selene, what this tells me is that you're exceptionally good at reading people and reading situations, or at least you have the capacity to be extremely good at it. You're the sort that can get very accurate hunches and intuitions, and you have a self confidence that, like, when you tell yourself that something is, then you're not generally wrong. You've got a strong lean towards understanding the skein of things, filtered through emotion. You *feel* it, in your gut, your heart, you know what's up. The down side is that you can fall into a depressed brooding, get to looking so deep into the weave of things that you can get lost and tangled up in your own emotions about the state of things."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey agrees, "Hell yeah she will. Maybe a couple a' smart homid kin, I hope, too. If she wants that, that is." He hrms and neatly folds a few of the journals closed, putting them -- neatly-ish -- back where they were, listening with interest. "Conjunct," he offers, smiling. "I mean, I can sorta read a conventional astrology thing, but it's not exactly the same. Similar, but." He peers over it, and murmurs, "Good at reading people... I mean, I'd like to think so? I'm pretty good at recognizing when someone's looking for something from me rather than being a friend, yeah..."

The confidence note makes him nod. "It's... I can be wrong and still be worthy of self-respect, y'know. I honor myself, the Kaloush demands it. It's one of the ways Bastet are different, we're so individual. It was a long time before I realized how Garou can be that way, too."

The last part makes him purse his lips, and nod reluctantly. "That's how I wound up here. Denver was great but... I was on the outside there, as much as my friends there tried to include me. It wasn't their fault -- they were married by then, and strongly bonded, so..." He shrugs. "It took a couple of months of wandering and ending up here to get out of that." He inhales and notes, "I joke away a lot of what I feel," with that weirdly soothing voice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You're very good at reading things." Iris confirms with her own opinion and a sagely nod of her head while she pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "What else can I sum up real quick... Oh, here, the sun and Jupiter. Both of these celestines are kings, and both identify as male. These two also have a twin influence on you which basically boils down to you are brave and full of vitality, and you're afforded a certain boost to luck in your life that generally shields you from the worst things that can happen in life. It also says that you're very generous and charitable, and that being that way makes you happy. You wear honor naturally, but you can also take this sort of thing for granted because, again, loooots of self confidence, a natural pride and self assurance. It tells me that you channel a lot of your energy in an artistic direction, Jupiter is quite an artist himself. You'll see when we go visit some time, but he's big into arts, and the sun tends to appreciate that quite a bit as well. It also tells of good heredity from your father's side, where you may have the best of his qualities, and the passing of a legacy from father to child, which could possibly be Bastet blood, or who knows, something else."

Branton has arrived. Irsa has arrived.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Merosian Muskrat Miners are currently in the office off the bridge where Iris keeps all her notebooks and stuff, currently yammering over a star chart that Iris is in the middle of penning on a big scroll

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey is fascinated by this; what vain cat wouldn't be? But deeper than that, he finds himself tucking away the significances of each point, to pick over and mull about afterward. He mms, "Sun and Jupiter is very auspicious," he agrees, and listens, smiling. "Vital. Lucky... I think I'm lucky, yeah. My life's been good so far. Bad moments, but overall? Good."

He nods and says, "Honor is part of the Karoush, as well. Honor your word. Judge someone by their word, but more by their deed. Better still if they are the same." He grins. "Jupiter is also an artist? This, I definitely want to see. It makes sense, though, with large gestures and generosity can come beauty as well."

The last part about his father makes his expression go blank for a moment, but he then concludes, "I don't recall him. I know sketchy details, no more. Male cats... don't tend to stick around for a bunch of reasons. I think I want to, though. I want to see my kittens."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Irsa has rowed her ass up here in that handy-dandy rowboat, because who doesn't love an Umbral workout? If Branton's lucky he might have caught a ride when she set out, and saved himself the rowing. She hops onto the dock once the small craft is docked and heads towards the sound of the voices. "What up!" she greets the others when she spots them. She's coated with wood chips and sawdust, and spatters of drying paint.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Branton will have for sure ridden with Irsa and grins as he comes on board behind her "Hey hey, how's everyone doing? Any after effects from the mayhem that need to be seen to? I ask because I once wound up getting followed around by some sun-mice that I freed and they kept trying to worship me. It was weird."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mercy looks up and opens her mouth to question Branton's claim about the mice, buuuut.... she shuts her mouth and decides that she completely buys everything he just said word for word. "I'm not sure if I'd want sun mice worshiping me either. We're doin good! Come on in. We've just been chatting about the star chart I'm slooooooowly putting together for Trey here. In brief, everything I've done so far says that he's an artist, a genius, very perceptive, some hiden explosive depths and a vvery good lineage. THEORETICALLY there haven't been any side effects, I mean... Maybe there are and I haven't noticed them, but I'd say we're pretty good."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey is sitting crosslegged on the floor of the office right off the ship's bridge, with Iris, looking over a star chart she's working on -- the continuation of the one from last night, it seems. A hand comes up in greeting and he waves, calling, "Hey! How goes? Looks like you got some work done," he notes, motioning toward the sawdust and paint. He hrms at the comment about the worshipping mice. "None that I've seen. Were they throwing little pickles at you?" He grins. "Or am I the only one that happens to?" He does flush a bit at the praise from Iris, though, and chuckles.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Just a small project, y' know," Irsa says far too casually to Trey. She's quick to turn her attention to Mercy. "Hah! Nice, can't wait t' see what you came up with. So, he's totally a pirate ragabash, right? No wait, that's Branton." She offers a high five to the sorcerer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I dunno!" Mercy says, and gestures at the half finished scroll, "There's still a buncha shit to mark down and look up, so I cant speak to all the parts and pieces as of yet, but it talkls about quite a lot of talent. You know all that weirdly accurate and insightful junk he was saying when we were talking about the results of your visit with the oracles?" she asks Branton, then taps the scroll, "That's totally in here, yeah. Insightful kitty." And she adds to Irsa, "You two can complain about the romantic BS in your charts later, too. I told him yours said you're a seeeeexy lady to certain types of folk."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Branton grins broadly at Iris "It was after dealing with that umbral train mess one of the willworkers thought would be a good idea to short cut around the city with. And then they left at least one access point unsecured and mundane mortals wandered in. The sun-mice had been bound into service as the conductors for the train and my job was finessing the binding spell while the mages were busy keeping reality from tearing to pieces because someone left holes in it. You were off world at the time and eventually they all went home, which was fine. I didn't really need a priesthood of my own anyway." Then he shakes his head at Trey "No pickles. Too bad, I like pickles." Irsa's comment gets a snort of amusement. "That sounds about right really. Though I've been told I've got a fair bit of theurge in me."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey snorts. "Small project, I bet." Amazingly, he doesn't press. "Oh, I got the inflatable hot tub at Value Village, got them down to sixty bucks. The motor's a little loud but eh. If you want it for the packhouse, it should be fine." He laughs at the pirate ragabash thing, and says, "I'm convinced Branton is actually a Minor Incarna posing as a sorcerer." He blinks as Iris comments about his accuracy, and just gets that boyish pleased smile on his lips. But the B's next bit makes his eyes narrow in near-disbelief. "Umbral... train... around the city? Just... get an electric car, idiots. Or walk. Christ on a cracker." He ohs and notes, "I like pickles too. Next time I go to the farmer's market I'll grab some for the pantry up here." He hrms, considering B. "Definitely, but if you consider the Galliard moon as a crafter moon as well as an artist moon, it applies too. Some of Vulcan along with Mercury."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Irsa dusts herself off, just getting sawdust and woodchips everywhere. Hopefully the spirit crew won't hang her from the yardarm for it, you just never know. She picks up one of the larger wood chips, a big beefy thing, and hands it over to Trey. "Th' smallest," she agrees. She snorts at the attraction thing. "I'm tellin' ya, guns for days. Me, I'm always down for pickles of any kind. Dill from scratch? Those are bomb. And if you like Korean cuisine, there's so many diff'rent types of pickled things t' choose from."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iris grins at all this and shakes her head with a laugh, which happens with more gusty at Trey's 'or just walk!' comment. "Well, how about we go get some delicious pickles and give Irsa the Gift o' the Tiganites? It wouldn't be right to hand it to you *here*, cause it's, like... not attuned to *here*, so you wont get the full affect at all, and that's not a good way to start off gift giving! Plus... now I really want pickles and I'm not sure we have any here."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Branton nods at Iris and grins "I'll stop in the pantry of the House down below and meet ya all over? I got some Pickled things in barter for work I did for some of the other kinfolk. Its pretty amazing really."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trey takes the wood chip and looks it over, then tucks it in his pocket. Why? Who knows? "Hey, guns are hot. I mean the arm kind, not the boomy kind." He shrugs as if to say 'what?' and then says, "Oh, yeah, I like Korean food, but the Kimchee is... well, it does nasty things to my guts. Pickles are great." He chuckles. "Ooooh, raiding the pantry. Man, I gotta learn to cook one of these days. Well, more than 'roast thing over open fire'." Irsa pages: If you want to check that out later, let me know! You paged Irsa with ‘Oh, I definitely intend to; he tries to reuse *everything*’

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh shit, right now? Uh, sure. Dunno who's home yet, but we'll find out when we get there." Irsa doesn't bother checking her pack link this time, her sisters have been expecting visitors lately. "Kimchi's an acquired taste, and honestly, it's been kinda ruined by foodies. There's plenty a' good stuff though, like pickled radishes. I'll take ya out for grub some night and give you th' culinary tour."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Sounds good!" Iris says, setting down her quill, because she'd totally use quill and ink rather than a pen, PURELY because it's *cooler*. "Lemme collect the boy and the thing and we'll all pop down together, and then once Branton catches up, prezzie time!" And off she goes to find where Pink is hiding, dragging Trey along behind her on his tether. Let's be honest, it's a cat leash.
