Its October 12th and sometime during the day Vic sent Rufus a text that read "Got info you may want, can I come over?" and, after getting an agreeable response, she got a ride out to his place, arranging it so that she arrives at the proscribed time in his response.
Rufus got the text and shot back 'sure, come on onver'. The last time Vic came over this late, she ended up crashing here. So he made sure on the off chance she didn't feel like making the return trip, the pillows and blankets were stashed under the nightstand next to the couch. Rufus is playing a RPG on Super Nintendo when Vic finally makes it, and coming in will notice a few key changes to the living room. The first, is that there is plants. Not many, but a few to add their deep green color to the stark modern furnishings and style. Next, while the fuzzy motor of Schrodinger is curled up near Rufus's head is a mainstay of course, there is also a small kitten who sleeps next to the slubering beast. Third, the Kitchen actually has food. Like, real food so if Vic wants something from the kitchen, she wont feel like she is playing a survival apocalypse sim if she is hungry or thirsty. Rufus looks over at you when you come in and waves. "Hey Vic, come on in." He says, finishing some fight with some monsters. "Kick off your shoes." Rufus is in socks, so it must obviously be okay.
Vic is, as she almost always seems to be, wearing hiking boots so when suggested kicking them off she just looks at them for a moment and laughs. "Thanks for having me over," she says as she drops her bag onto the couch and then sits down next to it. Untying her boots and removing them one at a time as she speaks, cutting to the chase by asking, "You aware of the corrupt sectors and link dead people, Arr?"
Rufus continues playing and doesn't respond when she says thanks for having her over. Rufus doesn't feel the need to, and redundancy is silly. When you bring up the topic of the corrupted sectors he nods. "Yeah." He says. "What about them?"
"I feel like I've become a central hub for information," Vic says. "Also I recently helped a Shen ruin a crook's life... he was working at the source of the VR-Headsets that the five victims in the hospital may all have been linked to."
Rufus frowns, looking at you. "Shen?"
Vic cocks an eyebrow and literally looks like she is making a mental note before answering. "Eastern mage... I... well, I heard the term first back home. They're ... there's not like Western mages and I can't even really explain well, but ... yeah, he's a mage but not like us. Not exactly."
Rufus slowly nods. "Cosmic Racism." He says looking back to the TV. "Well. Maybe your crook can explain why he embedded a code-virus into the servers." He says scratching his chin. "Though that does raise an interesting question." He pauses the game and drops the controller, getting up to get something to drink. "Was there anything wrong with the headsets?"
"Mister J-... let's call him Jay," Vic cuts herself off from saying the full name quite obviously and then continues, "We'll have to look into that actually." She pauses, "I tried to get us some but ... yeah, that didn't work. But I can get Jay's, should ask him to drop it off at the gym. Oh, and have you heard from Evie and/or Hector about the corrupted sectors they investigated?"
Rufus looks over at Vic and arches a brow. "I don't talk to Evie, and I haven't heard anything from Hector." He says returning to the couch and sitting down. "Just the one I investigated. Some Eastern Europe Frankensteinian knockoff."
Vic nods. "Heard about that one. And one that you have to let your Icon die to get out of," she says. "Also, I'm going to shoot you a list of the victim's names and info that I have," she adds pulling out her phone and swipes a file into Rufus' direction (assuming his phone isn't silenced it makes the appropriate noise for receiving a message).
Rufus nods, pulling out his phone and looks at the file Vic sends him. "...Huh." He mulls over the names. "Curiouser and curiouser." He mulls over the information in his head. "So it sounds so far like the corruption code is embedded in the server. Changing the stipulations of the game or worldscape and self-repliating. It certainly moves like a virus." He says. After which they commisserate for a few on the info and then eat and play games.
