Winter Wonderland in Carlsbad
Seasonal Party with decoration, performances, and socializing.
IC Date December 19th, 2020
Players Angelica, Carter, Colombe, Daphnne, Flavien, Gregory, Hailee, Katharina, Madeline, Paige, Stan
Location Edgewater Beach Resort Elysium
Spheres Vampire Camarilla Ghoul

Edgewater Beach Resort - Antechamber

A short corridor eventually leads to this small room where the first thing one notices is an armed male and female ghoul security guard seated at their own desk. The walls, floor and ceiling are white and made of reinforced concrete. The two kevlar-lined, bullet-resistant doors use electromagnetic locks but only one has additional security measures set up on it. Two security cameras monitor the room and, after being searched by one of the guards, one will need to pass a biometric recognition test as well as provide a unique, individualized passcode before being allowed to proceed further.
Once access is granted, the doors immediately open onto a vast white marble staircase which eventually splits off to the right as it descends down to an arched doorway with a set of ornate double doors.

While security is still observed the room is not as cold and sterile looking as it normally is. A Christmas tree of white poinsettias sits in the corner dressed in white tinsel and bows with gently twinkling blue and white lights.

Being piped through the music system is Bing Crosby's "White Christmas". There are LED Icicle 'Fairy Lights' hanging down from the railings of the marble staircase, with white poinsettias in golden pots sitting on each step. One will start to notice flakes of what looks like snow on the steps as well, growing in volume as you go downward to the double doors, giving you a hint of the magical sights to come.

Edgewater Beach Resort - Elysium Great Hall

The Great Hall is lavish and sophisticated but there is also a welcoming atmosphere about it. The two-tiered circular room is large and beautifully appointed, with graceful arches lining the lower perimeter to create small alcoves where an ornate sconce fixed to the wall within creates a warm glow. The dramatic 18-foot ceiling is umbrella-shaped and painted to resemble the look of stained-glass, vibrant hues that are discolored and distorted yet exquisite. From the center hangs a large crystal chandelier which reaches the base curvature where hundreds of small, evenly spaced, lights provide just the right amount of additional illumination when turned on. The walls are composed of elaborately carved crown molding and custom silvery-white wall panels which shimmer softly beneath the lights. The floor is made from richly designed marble tiles that match the rest of the decor and makes for a lovely dance floor should one be needed. An ornate balcony lines the upper tier - accessible by a set of small narrow staircases - but is designed with just one large seating area that is slightly elevated to provide an unobstructed view of the room below.
Set at a fair depth into a large archway at the end opposite the main entrance, and flanked by marble columns and another door on one side, is a wide stage area with a set of four steps leading up to it. The interior stands out from the rest of the room as it is a deep crimson with intricate gilded molding and illuminated by a single chandelier which is only lit when the area is in use. The cushioned seats there are evenly spaced and staggered, five in front and five in back, so that when all seats are occupied everyone may be seen. Artfully scattered around the floor is an array of comfortable chairs and couches, many easily able to be tucked into the lower alcoves or pushed off to the side to clear the floor if needed, but all facing the stage in some manner.

As you step through the double doors, snow flakes flutter about your feet. (Artificial so they are not wet) The Elysium Great Hall has been transformed into an incredible ~*~ Winter Wonderland ~*~. The first thing you notice is the huge tree at the bottom of the staircase which rises up almost to the 18 foot ceiling. It is made completely of exquisite Swarovski crystal and the soft lights shimmer off of it. Underneath it are gifts wrapped in gold foil with ivory white and blue ribbons and bows. The guests are encouraged to take one. When opened each box holds a beautiful unique crystal snow globe ornament of a winter woodland with the year inscribed on the bottom.

The lower level walls are lined with trees of various heights sitting in front of 3D winter forest displays that give incredible depth to the room and create the illusion that you are in a wintery snow-covered woodland clearing. The trees themselves are a light show along with the music. At some times white, gold, blue or a combination.
At the center of the 'clearing' is an elevated two level stage area with an enormous backdrop screen. The lights on the stage are dim when not in use and the eye goes to the lights around the bluish white dance floor. It's highly reflective surface appears like ice with snowflakes on it but it is solid as you step on it.
The crystal chandelier has been turned off, and instead a fiber optic projector hidden somewhere among the trees is directed on the high umbrella shaped ceiling and upper level displaying a twinkling star studded night sky and it appears to be snowing over your head. It is an extravagant but stunning atmosphere for the eyes and the guests' enjoyment.

Madeline smiles as she arrives to assist with greeting guests, her red and white gown echoing her festive mood

Daphnne is standing near the carolers at the doorway next to Gregory, greeting everyone with a gracious smile. Tonight this stunning woman’s gown serves to accent her beauty and the theme of the Christmas Event she is hosting. The exquisite gown of white silk charmeuse is perfectly tailored to her form, the fabric reflecting the light slightly as she moves. Her bodice takes the shape of a hand-crafted shirt with collar and a slight plunge to the neckline, darts placed perfectly to accentuate her figure in an elegant fashion. The 3 quarter sleeves end with several pearl buttons that glow warmly in the light. The skirts of the graceful gown are full, hand tailored to drape just so and brush along the floor with a whisper of silk as she moves. About the lady’s waist is an embroidered belt of golden thread, expertly crafted with delicate blossoms and leaves, adding the perfect accent to this captivating gown. Anyone can easily recognize one of Madeline's original designs.

Gregory looks sharp, with his gold vest and bow tie, humming along with the Christmas tunes between the greetings, and in general enjoying the evening.

Angelica steps into the Great Hall, her old fashioned boots clicking lightly. She smiles and hums to the song that plays overhead as her sparkling gaze sweeps over the area. Once she spots Madeline she makes her way over to her

Katharina arrives at the Elysium tonight alone. A lovely smile on her face, her body wrapped in blue silks, obviously another design of Madeline's. Her eyes sparkling with excitement to see the transformation of this place for the party tonight. She is looking all around as she enters and looks to find the hostess'. Coming first upon Daphnne, she offers her gloves hands to her before that oh so european kisses to the cheek. "My dearest friend, you have outdone yourself tonight!"

Madeline smiles brightly and holds out a hand to Angelica "bon soir mon treasure" kissing the girl's temple "thank you for coming." turning she watches two of her oldest friends greet one another, each wearing a gown of her design. The Toreador seems very happy at the sight

A group of Carolers have taken the stage for the moment, they are singing Christmas carols and their voices are pure and sweet.

Hailee is nearby, watching, listening too, wearing a glittery ice blue dress.

Daphnne does a formal graceful curtsy to Katharina but her smile is warm and she reaches out to take Katharina's hand, brushing a light kiss to her cheek, "Oh, you are so beautiful tonight Duchess, my Dear Katharina. Thank you so much for coming." She glances around. "You remember that I just can not seem to stop once I start when there is a party!" She smiles and motions to the enormous white tree. "Do pick a present, you shall give first choice."

Colombe walks in through the main archway to the Great Hall. She greets Daphnne warmly, giving the Ventrue Keeper a deep nod, turning to also offer Gregory a bright smile. She likewise nods to Katharina, regarding the Duchess with a warm gaze. "I have been so looking forward to this event, Daphnee, and can't wait to see everyone in their holiday cheer. You look stunning, of course." Colombe, herself, is beautiful tonight; she is wearing a formal gown of ice blue silk; the top is sheer, exposing shoulders, verging on disclosure of soft breasts, allowing scant modesty with additions of sparkling applique. The flowing skirt is divided on left and right, revealing perfect skin, long supple legs, and sparkling ice blue heels with a ballet ankle strap. Her make-up is understated, allowing her gown to shine. Her long blonde hair is straight, flowing over her shoulders. Her look is further refined by the addition of a charming jewelled headband that sparkles in the light, and the faint scent of lavender and bergamot.

Madeline squeezes Angelica's hand then if the girl wishes, leads her over to greet Columbe "So kind of you to come tonight Mademoiselle, you look beautiful" the Elder Toreador smiles

Daphnne looks over Colombe and her eyes sparkle, "You look stunning, my Dear. I am so happy that you were able to come. Please choose one of the gifts." Her eyes glance towards the stage and she seems satisfied as she sees the set up for the start of the actual show.

Gregory offers each of the ladies a warm smile. "Good evening, and merry Christmas. Such a lovely array of dresses. It always seems the ladies have so much more variety and pizaz than us men."

Angelica beams as Madeline holds her hand out. She takes it and nods "Of course. These events are always amazing!" She looks over to Katharina and Daphnne, her black skirt swishing lightly. When Maddie leads her to Colombe she smiles to the other woman with a small bow

Katharina bows her head, "I shall, thank you so much." She picks out a gift, and then walks toward Madeline, "My dear friend, it is so lovely of you to host us all tonight." She offers another kiss to the cheek for her. "An you Gregory, so rare to see you about, at least for me." She smiles to Angie, "Happy Holiday, Ms. Angelica." She does not quite know Colombe yet, and will wait a moment to hopefully meet her.

Colombe smiles to Daphnne and laughs at Gregory. "I think you managed quite well, Gregory, that colour is unusual and divine. Thank-you Daphnne, I will be sure to choose carefully --- are they ok to shake?" Madeline and Angelica are greeted warmly, as well. "Duchess Blanchard, I did not realize that you took commissions for personal designs; and I did not take your gift last week, only so as not to deprive another person of the privilege. That is, if you do take commissions, or did I miss out entirely?" She admires the other women's clothing, giving Angelica a quick grin. "Your costume is wonderful. I would never miss this, I believe, we need to do this more often."

Madeline turns to Katharina and touches her hand, returning the kiss to her Fellow Duchess' cheek "My dear Lady thank you for coming the evening is perfected by your presence" she winks and nods "Gregory, I do hope we shall see more of you now that your Lady is Keeper here non?" turning to Colombe she smiles "oui Mademoiselle, Herald Amelie and I own a fashion house together. I am always happy to design for the praxis"

Daphnne gives a gentle nod of her head to Katharina, seeming pleased/ She gives Colombe a smile and looks to Gregory with pride, her eyes flickering for a moment to Madeline, "The Duchess also did the design for Gregory's. All of her work, for either gender, is incredible. You really need to order one." She glances to Madeline, "I am certain that she would be more than happy to help you since this will be your first one."

Colombe's eyes light up; she looks from Daphnne to Madeline and replies, "The first of many, I think. If it pleases you, Duchess Blanchard, I shall visit at the earliest opportunity." She, likewise, gives Katharina a warm glance, but waits for an introduction, to avoid the appearance of impertinence et al.

The darkened stage comes to life as the backdrop screen lights up to show a night time snowy woods scene behind the silhouettes of a violinist with eight woman posed motionless around her. It looks like a framed picture or a postcard. As the female violinist begins to play the women around her start to move gracefully into various ballet stances as the lights slowly come up and they all begin to dance to the music the violinist plays. They move in perfect unison as several Christmas favorites are played with a striking Celtic take.
This is where the eloquent costumes, incredible set designs and displays, huge screen and the instrumental dance performance comes together in an amazing and captivating way. As they move to the lower section of the stage the background screen begins to stretch out behind them until it takes up the entire back of the stage. The dancing violinist glides through the classic ballet movements in such a natural and effortless seeming manner that it is beautiful even by itself without adding the deftly skilled musical performance. She and her backup dancers are like Renaissance Faire ballerinas or perhaps in truth they are fairies come to life to perform on the stage. At the end of their performance they are back up on the top section of the stage, the screen back framing them in exactly the same position that they started in. (start at 0:25)

Madeline smiles gently as Angelica makes her polite introductions, nodding her approval before she smiles to Columbe "Certainly Mademoiselle, we shall arrange a time to speak soon" then turnst ot he stage and gives the dancers and violinist her full attention

Gregory steps back to enjoy the show, but making sure to not obstruct the ladies' view

The Grinch comes stomping into the Elysium with his heavy Santa boots clacking on the floor of the lavish Great Hall. Once inside his red cat's eyes look around to see who might be present, and he scratches the side of his head when he sees the more formally dressed crowd that make up those in attendance. Of course then the spectacle on the stage begins, and as the dancers begin to move, the Grinch does his best to walk a bit more quietly so as not to distract from the performance, moving off to one side to be closer to one of the walls.

Daphnne watches the introductions, "You shall be welcome at any time." She turns as the performance starts and motions to the various seating. "Please make yourself comfortable. This young woman is quite spectacular to watch."

Madeline sighs happily as she watches teh dancers move to the music then winks at Angie "Shall i teach you to do that cheri?"

Colombe nods decisively to Angelica before her attention is on the stage and she is swept away by the beauty of the dance, so entwined with the fervent and mournful strains of the violin. This can only be broken by the appearance of such a uniquely maligned and beloved figure, the Grinch in full Santa suit. She watches him curiously, with her shoulders and chin remaining poised by the grace of her long line of noble ancestors.

Angelica grins and nods "I would love to learn!" She then leans towarsds Gregory "Good evening Gregory, very nice suit" She winks and smiles. The smile then twitches when she catches sight of the Grinch "Oh my..." She whispers softly

Gregory raises an eyebrow as the Grinch comes in.... "I hear he's a mean one.." he responds to Angelica, in similarly hushed tones.

Daphnne applauds as the performance ends and then turns her head towards the door and appears alarmed for just a moment. But then she smiles warmly and moves to welcome him, "Good evening, so pleased that you could join us. Please, choise a gift. Only one mind you!" She teases.

Madeline applauds brightly for the musician and her entourage then kisse Angelica's cheek and excuses herself, stepping away from the gathering and into the back

Hannah arrives fashionably late -- but without imposition. She looks nothing like her usual self, with her hair left a natural shade of blonde and styled into romantic, tousled curls down her back. She wears a Marchesa gown, held aloft by thin straps with a sheer black bodice embroidered with nude florals. A belted bow, and then a tumbling fall of sheer black layers and delicate black heels to match. She arrives in time for the performance, however, and stands toward the black with a gentle clap of her black evening gloves.

The lights go out on the stage and there is a furry of movement as a different set is quickly put into place. The carolers take this opporunity to sing another song.

Katharina for now takes a seat to watch the performances.

Hannah sits on the Silvery-grey velvet couch.

The Grinch doesn't look to be as enamored of the exquisite display of ballet being exhibited as some, and instead looks down at himself and then at the rest of the well dressed crowd. Perhaps he is self conscious about how much he sticks out like a sore thumb? It's hard to tell given how well his costume is made and the makeup applied, though instead of staying put the green fellow moves closer to the stage for a better look at what's going on.

Colombe's attention had been momentarily diverted to the big green meanie, and then is diverted again by the other fashionably late monster. She applauds for the act, but her gaze is on Hannah, her eyes sparkling and her smile wide when she sees the Marchesa gown on the habitually casual Tremere. She is standing near Daphnne, Gregory, Madeline, and Angelica, watching the show. She beckons for Hannah to come and join them. And looking to the Grinch, she offers the mysterious person a warm gaze, and beckons them to join them, as well.

Daphnne gives Gregory a soft kiss on the cheek and smiles to the others before she steps up on the stage and announces, "Tonight we are blessed and highly forunate to have two of this Praxis Duchesses here with us." A light comes down first on Katharina and then shifts to Madeline. "And it is my pleasure to introduce the Duchess of Carlsbad as she gives us a rare performance." She turns and applauds as she looks to Madeline.

Katharina sits on the Plush sofa.

The lights slowly come up to reveal that beautiful winter setting Daphnne has arranged. And as the music begins, a classic song that most will recognize. Madeline appears, the true ballerina that she is. In elegant white costume with a starched tutu and flowers atop her perfectly coifed golden hair. She smiles and rises to the very tips of her toes, beginning to move to the music. From mincing steps to lovely spins, this is what ballet was when it began centuries ago, and still is in many places.

Daphnne steps over to Gregory to take his arm and her eyes brighten as she watches Madeline's beautifully perform the classic.

Hannah lowers herself to sit with /some/ poise upon one of the velvet loungers, but espying Colombe's welcoming smile and gesture, the Tremere once more rises to her feet -- and only with the slightest of wobbles in her heels -- and begins to move across the room towards the assembled group. The Grinch is eye-balled in passing, her glossed lips caught in a laugh, and as she passes him by she murmurs something with an amicable look on her face. She hardly pauses, though, coming to arrive at Colombe's side with a smug grin and wiggle of her eyebrows. For once, she does not talk and interrupt, instead standing in serene silence with a slim smile on her face and eyes fixed on Madeline.

Colombe watches Madeline quietly, following the refined and measured feats of the dancer's body with undivided attention.

The Grinch's attention is caught by the spotlight as it focuses its beam on Katharina, but then it switches to Madeline who is on the stage and the Green Meanie's expression brightens up almost as much as the stage's lighting. Our Christmas villain appears to be quite taken with the beautiful ballerina on the stage as she begins her interpretation of this dance, and when it's possible he cuts across to the center walkway and is drawn straight toward the front of the house for one of the best views there is.

The ballerina makes each move look effortless as she floats across the floor. Sweet arms add to the beauty of each precise motion as she dances and rises again to the very tips of her toes, spinning with a graceful ease that could make ones heart ache. Suddenly the music quickens and the dancer, with a bright smile, begins to spin all across the floor, again and again until she stops in the final pose of the dance, the music coming to an end.

Angelica stands there and shifts her gaze to Madeline, watching in awe as she dances. Flawless and beautiful as she moves fluidly across the stage, Angie watches on

Daphnne applauds, her face lite up with a beaming smile, "Breathtaking, my Dear!"

The Grinch applauds quite vigorously for Madeline when her performance is finished, his baggy Santa sleeve cuffs slightly muting the sound, as the hang half way past the palms and get caught up in the clapping.

Colombe claps warmly for Madeline, regarding her intently as the performance comes to an end. She murmurs something quietly to Hannah.

Flavien hotfoots it into the Edgewater Elysium a bit late, wearing the same outfit he’d worn the other night to his Court introduction - velvet suit jacket, bow tie, tuxedo shirt, and tailored dress pants, with road-worn Doc Martens. “Sorry I’m late,” he mutters to whoever’s listening. “Making tamales for the homeless.” He spots Hannah almost immediately and settles in near her, predictably enough, giving a polite nod to Colombe as well as he passes and peering curiously at the Grinch.

The stage darkens again and a different set is hastily set up. A light comes on at the side of the stage where a small setting is displayed that looks like a dressin groom of some kind and a beautiful young blonde woman steps out and sits down in a chair. Several other women join her and glance over at the Grinch and points. "You're a mean one!"
Madeline sinks into a deep curtsey as the music ends then rises with a smile and slips out of the light as the next act begins

Gregory looks over as the Grinch gets singles out, with an 'I told you so.' wink to Angelica

Angelica applauds Madeline's performance and then she catches Gregory's wink with a grin "Now where is Max?"

Colombe thinks she knows who the Grinch is. Her expression is subdued, though she smiles faintly at the audience participation.

The Grinch looks rather surprised and a bit confused when the lights come back up and the blonde woman points at him as he stands there at the front of the stage. Both hands up and the tips of his fingers stab into the top of his chest, the very epitome of a 'who me?' gesture.
Meanwhile on the stage the lights come back up and the female dancing violinst has returned but the backdrop now is an ole time bar, and she does a comical but perfectly choreographed musical dance routine as the beautiful woman in the chair sings the classic song.

Madeline returns quietly, having changed back into her festive gown and smiles to see the next performance

Hannah stands somewhere off to the side of the stage with Colombe, though her attention remains on the performance up ahead. She stands remarkably poised for once -- so long as she isn't walking in these shoes, anyway -- with her hands clasped in front of her waist. That same small smile remains curled on her lips, that unblinking stare following the ballerina. The young woman in the evening dress claps her hands when Madeline concludes her dance, before turning herself to watch with more visible amusement as the Grinch is singled out by the lights.

Daphnne smiles brightly to Madeline, "You were perfect." Her attention returns then to the Grinch as the next show starts and she whispers something to Madeline.

Madeline smiles as she watches, tipping her ear to Daphnne, the Duchess nods

The Grinch puts his hands on the edge of the stage and uses them to catapult himself up onto it when the song about him breaks out. As the music and lyrics progress the Green Meanie does his best to dance along, though he isn't of the same caliber as the ballerinas, Madeline, or those he now shares the same stage with. Indeed he stumbles to and fro in a clumsy manner, and yet it somehow comes to resemble something of a dance as he even manages to keep time to the rhythm of the song. As the last words are sung and the last notes hang in the air, the Grinch side skitters across the stage and comes to a halt next to the blonde who pointed him out in the first place.

Carter steps into the room, dressed in his normal, campus-ready attire and pauses by the entrance - his eyes transfixed upon the images that are revealed before him upon the stage. This is not exactly what he was expecting to see. His eyes look to the others to see how they're reacting and if any look either confused or uncomfortable by his presence.

Gregory applauds the singer, and the Grinch, as the show comes to a stop.

Daphnne notices some new faces and steps to the door to greet Flavien and then Carter, "Good evening to you both and welcome. I am the Keeper, Lady Daphnne Cunningham. We can get acquainted in a little while. For now choose a present from under the tree and make yourselves comfortable and enjoy the show."

Colombe shakes her head, still looking somewhat subdued, but can't keep her eyes from sparkling, as the Grinch joins in with all the charisma of a natural performer disguised as an adorable green Santasuit-wearing puppy. When Carter walks in, however, her gaze turns and remains riveted on the young man. She speaks quietly to Hannah and Flavien.

Madeline laughs and applauds the Grinch "Bravo"

As the song ends and he approaches the beautiful blonde laughs but rises and moves to The Grinch, giving him a wink and a kiss and the stage light go out.

Hannah gives a hearty clap for the Grinch and the ballerina, and her gloved hand lifts as though to give her signature crass whistle -- but then she thinks better of it, and sticks to a less exuberatnt applause. She dips her head toward Colombe, listening to something, and then turns to look over her shoulder toward Carter. She likewise looks the man over with curiosity, though the inquiring look is paired with a friendly smile before she turns around to murmur a reply.

Flavien’s head turns to give Carter an appraising look as well as Carter steps in, his dark eyes intense with curiosity. His hand sneaks onto Hannah’s waist, and he turns back to listen to what she has to say. The three of them make a pretty picture, almost like an impressionist painting if one were to blur their vision enough. Light, color, and shadow.

Angelica applauds the Grinchy performance then looks to the door. She notes the new faces then she looks back to the stage, her eyes resting on the gifts making a mental note

The lights come back up to show just the Grinch now on stage, and the Christmas villain walks past the carolers to the front of it so he can give a deep bow to the audience. Rather unexpectedly he turns around so he can wriggle his bum back and forth at the crowd for a few seconds before he turns, bows again and then quickly exits stage right!

Paige arrives with the click of her heels and the brushing of the skirts of her dress, and not much more. Her violin case dangling from the fingers of her left hand as she slips in quietly. Head straight ahead, quiet. Indeed it is only when her eyes slide over to Flavien that she breaks her silence with her soft voice, no greeting, just a simple. "Be careful, you will get the clap."

Katharina claps for the performance. This Grinch being new to her, but she appreciates the performance much.

Carter wanders over to the tree and bends down to select one of the unmarked, square boxes and walks back towards a corner to unwrap it. Refusing the gift of a host would be considered bad manners - even in his short version of an unlife. The present revealed is one of those high end snowglobe ornaments and for a moment the guy is stunned into reflective silence. Maybe he's struck by some memory of his former existence, or of a life he won't have again. Either way, he slides the gift back into his box, tries to track the eyes of the hostess, Daphnne, and offers her a nod of appreciative thanks.

Daphnne laughs softly and applauds as she makes her way back up to the stage microphone. "Well, that was a bit of an unexpected visit but..." she glances around the room and then continues, "I am proud to introduce one of my oldest and dearest friends, the Duchess of Idyllwild Katharina von Starhemberg who is going to grace us tonight with a performance." She gives a graceful wave of her arm towards Katharina.

Katharina stands up from the Plush sofa.

Having arranged ahead of time with the orchestra here, Katharina walks up to the stage and stands at the front in a spotlight. The violins begin very softly with a tremelo of the first chord. Her clear enchanting voice soft and smooth as she sings..
"Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute hochheilige Paar.
Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,
Hirten erst kundgemacht
Durch der Engel Halleluja,
Tönt es laut von fern und nah:
Christ, der Retter ist da!
Christ, der Retter ist da!
Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,
Gottes Sohn, o wie lacht
Lieb’ aus deinem göttlichen Mund,
Da uns schlägt die rettende Stund’.
Christ, in deiner Geburt!
Christ, in deiner Geburt!

Unlike one might think, her voice even in German gives a grandieur to the song, even with the language that is usually so hard with consonants. The sweeping melody of the orchestra rises with her voice, as she lifts the well known melody to a beauty few have probably heard before. She ends the song with a deference to the subject, crosses herself as she has so often in her life from her deep faith, and then curtsies to those here before stepping off the stage.

Hannah smiles up at Flavien as her friend wraps his arm about her waist, and she leans her head to the side to gently tap her temple against the side of his shoulder. Glancing once more to Carter, she offers a quiet murmur to Colombe and Flavien, then the gentleman is given a friendly wave given the fact they are all so blatantly talking about him; but then Paige arrives, speaking of the clap, and though the shade was no doubt meant to be playful, there is something about it that strips Hannah of some of her lightness. A quirk of her mouth, and she says, "Ha. Hi, Paige. You look nice as well." She turns around to resume watching the stage, her expression level and gaze distantly fixed on the perfomance.

Angelica stands off to the side and watches those around her. She notes Paige and then she hears her comment to Flavien. She blinks a moment and her lips twitch but she says nothing

Madeline smiles warmly and gives Katharina her full attention, clearly appreciating the skill and artistry of the woman

“The clap?” Flavien’s face twists into an expression of confused indignance, and he shakes his head at the remark. His hand doesn’t move; if anything, he draws closer to Hannah. “Did I get the dates wrong? Are we actually in the 1820s, not the 2020s?” he mutters, schooling his expression back into neutrality and focusing on the stage.

While the Duchess is on stage singing her song, the Grinch slinks back into the Great Hall after leaving the stage. This time he stays close to one of the walls and in the shadows so as to cut down on drawing too much attention to himself.

Daphnne reaches up to touch her chest as she listens with rapt attention to Katharina's enchanting voice. Even after all this time she seems to never tire of listening to her incredible singing.

Colombe regards the Sheriff with a wan expression as the violin-carrying Caitiff breezes past with characteristic aplomb. Her spirit is re-invigorated as Katharina sings this unforgettable and haunting Christmas classic so beautifully. Her eyes linger on the duchess, noting the religious gesticulation at the end. She smiles at Hannah, and says something quietly to her.

Katharina makes her way from the stage toward Madeline and Daphnne, "Thank you both for the opportunity to share something close to my heart, and my home." As the song is from Vienna and all.

"I always look nice Hannah." Paige notes, her eyes drifting once more, around the room for long moments before she speaks again. "It is my redeeming quality." A slow nod there, and a soft wiggle of her fingers towards Colombe.

Carter sits down at the Bar.

Madeline applauds for Katharina and when the Elder comes over, embraces her gently with a kiss to her cheek "My dearest friend you are a wonder"

Daphnne gives a gentle nod of her head to what Madeline says, "She is indeed a wonder, rather it is fighting demons or singing in a cathedral."

As Katharina takes her bow the carolers return to do another song as the darkened stage behind them is set up for the final performance of the night.

Angelica applauds loudly for Katharina's performance after she is done. Once she is done she glances around the room before finding a seat Angelica sits down at the Rose Covered Lounger.

Carter steps over to the bar if only to have something to lean against while he plays with the wrapping of the present. By looking at him, those astute with observing behavior might deduce that his memories are rambling around behind his eyes as his fingers play with the decorative ribbon. In a word, the young man looks somewhat lost; in thought or in body.

As the performance concludes, he snaps himself out of the snow-focused reverie and looks out to the crowd. A nod here, an eyebrow raised there, he tries to take note of who's sitting with whom, who's not sitting with anyone. Who's smiling, who's nodding in an attempt to digest the political landscape of the room; and probably failing.

Once the Duchess has finished her song the Grinch pushes himself away from the wall and saunters on over to Flavien and Hannah, giving the two a nod when he gets close enough, "Hey dude, dudette." His red eyes then turn to focus on Paige with her violin, and his weird looking mouth splits into a huge grin, "Law-lady. How's it goin'?"

Colombe offers Paige a faint smile and a gentle nod, intrigued at the mention of fighting demons. At the end of the performance, her gaze rests again on the watchful Carter, even as the Grinch joins the group.

Hannah applauds the performance with another applause, although the elbow-length black gloves dampen the sound. Flavien speaks, and though she smiles up at him, there is a soft shake of her head as though to ward off any further mention of venereal diseases or the like. "I've yet to claim my present," she informs the trio, "And to thank the hosts. Will you excuse me for a moment?" So said, she turns with a swish of her gown's layered black netting to walk with shoulders-back confidence toward Madeline and Katharina. With a grace she is /not/ usually known for, she sinks into a deep, full-bodied curtsy. "Madames," she offers in greeting.

Madeline rests a gentle hand upon Katharina's arm and turns as Hannah approaches both of them. Sapphire eyes consider the curtesy as if judging a dance move but she smiles gently "Bon Soir Hannah, how kind of you to join us"

Daphnne turns to look at Hannah with a curious expression is her emerald green eyes.

"I am here, which means I have free time, an unusual enough situation to make me uncomfortable with it." Paige notes to the Grinch, before slowly her shoulders move into a shrug. "But the elders are out of Idyllwild, and that draws attention."

"The pleasure is mine," Hannah returns with a smile, her body remaining in that graceful state of poised supplication until she is addressed. Only then does she rise with a crinkle of her skirts, and draw both hands forward to clasp in front of her waist. "And you all look beautiful. I will not take much of your time, but I did want to thank you for putting your remarkable skills together to create such a memorable evening." She smiles then -- broad and warm -- looking between the two elders with polite interest.

Katharina smiles to Hannah. "Hello, dear. I do not think we have had the pleasure of meeting formally. I am Katharina von Starhemberg, Duchess of Idyllwild, Pine Cove, and the Fern Valley. You are of the Tremere, correct?" She thinks a moment, "Ms Coventry?"

Colombe's gaze does not move even an inch to the introductions taking place, instead she looks to the Sheriff. "Always a pleasure to see you in a formal setting, Sheriff. Whatever the reason."

Madeline smiles gently and waits until her peer is finished then turns her wrist to gesture to Daphnne "Actually Mademoiselle, the Keeper of Elyisum put together this wonderful evening with but a little assistance from Toreador, she is the one you should thank actually."

At the mention of 'Elders', Carter's ears perk up and his eyes do a quick scan of the room as though someone just whispered the word 'cops' in the back room at a club. Though nothing may be going on, technically, at that moment, there's a near-instinctual apprehension that fills the room and Carter can't seem to help but feel the flood of uncertainty wash over and through him with little effort as the small woman who spoke the word.

...And then someone throws out the 'other' word.../Tremere/.

Like creatures that come out of storybooks to grab young vampires and haul them away to their mysterious rituals of blood and fire, the newly arrived kindred finds himself as nervous as a cat with only a few lives left. His eyes track for the nearest exist as though he might consider escape rather than entertainment. Old habits and all that.

Flavien watches Hannah speak to Madeline, Daphnne, and Katharina for a moment with keen interest, before turning back to Paige and Colombe. A large part of him feels like there’s very little use in even trying to pretend to be anything other than the uncivilized piece of garbage dragged in on someone’s shoe that certain people here clearly consider him to be. “Excuse me,” he says, and wanders over to Carter. “Hey,” he says. “How’s it going? I’m Flavien.”

Daphnne notices Paige as Hannah is getting introduced to Katharina and gives her a smile, "How wonderful to see you Sheriff Sands. Thank you for taking the time to attend the party this evening."

The Grinch keeps on grinning at Paige and he bobs his head up and down at her answer, "Free time's always good especially 'round Christmas, you gonna play us sumthin'?" As he asks he points a gloved finger at her violin and then red, slit eyes turn to take in Colombe, "Evenin' ma'am, that a nice dress. Ya make the night worthwhile. I don't think we've met all propa like." He sticks out a hand to the lady and graces her with his weird looking grin this time, "Name's Stan, how you doin'?"

Having somehow missed Katharina in the moment, Hannah dips herself into another deep curtsy in the woman's direction, although the poise on this one does waver /just/ a hint with a wobble in her high heels -- but she's trying. The contained clumsiness lends a certain honesty to the act, however, and the Tremere rises once more with a smile. A pleasure to meet you, Duchess. I am glad to finally put a face to the name. The castle here is beautiful -- thank you for your hospitality." A nod then. "Yes, Hannah Coventry of Tremere." For the time being, her gaze is fixed on the three women, her expression a friendly one.

The lights go down again at the start of the next number

Katharina smiles to Hannah, "I do hope my Keeper from Idyllwild has been a help to your clan, as well as our dearest friend, Vilmos. As he told you any of our tales of adventure involving your clan?" She hushes as the next number is getting setup.

Madeline touches Katharina's arm again and nods to she and Hanna "pardon moi"

"Somehow I doubt they have an orchestra stashed in the wings dear." Paige notes to the Grinch. "I do hope you have settled in well with the others of the hidden clan, I find them to be some of the best we have around here." A small nod of her head before she turns it softly to Colombe. "And miss that dress? There are more reasons than one I showed up." Her free hand does raise, giving Daph a small wave.

Daphnne excuses herself with a smile and a gentle nod of her head as Madeline steps away. She makes her way over to Carter. "Good evening again. I hope you are enjoying the evening Mister...? I did not get a chance to get your name..."

Hannah whispers “Thank you, Duchess. I'm afraid that I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Vilmos, aside from two very brief clan meetings." She looks like she might reflect on the meeting further, but she's trying out this whole gracious thing and concludes her words with a small, dimpled smile. "Perhaps one day you might tell me of said adventures." She then falls quiet, looking toward the stage and being mindful not to interrupt.

Colombe offers Grinch-Stan a warm smile as she takes his furry green paw in both of her soft white hands. "You are too kind, Stan. I believe you were at the White Elephant Gift exchange?" She tries not to follow Flavien with her eyes, for whatever reason. And she gives Paige a look, punctuated by a warm smile.

Madeline and Hailee slip out of sight for a short time as the next scene is set – and when they are called forth “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Haines Sisters”

The pair step into the spotlight, clad in matching blue dresses from a bygone era. They carry large blue feather fans and smile at one another as they begin to sing – their voices perfectly matched.
They both sing: Sisters – Sisters, there were never such devoted sisters.
Hailee sings “Never had to have a chaperone, no sir!”
Madeline sings “I’m here to keep my eye on her”
Together they sing, “Caring, Sharing, every little thing that we are wearing”
Hailee – “when a certain gentleman arrived from Rome..”
Madeline – “she wore the dress, and I stayed home” (the song continues)

The approach of Flavien draws Carter's attention and he tries to calm his own nerves as he answers the guy's introduction. "Oh...uh, Carter. Though I could have just as easily answered John Snow if you get the reference. Kinda feeling out of place here, ya know?" The bookish young man is currently wearing his 'everything is denim' collection that looks to be old enough that it might come back into style soon.

With a quick, if somewhat appraising glance at the fashionable guy beside him he brushes some imagined bit of dust off his pants and offers the guy a polite nod of his head. "You new around here too?" he asks with a pleasant tone to his east coast voice.

At Daphnne's arrival, the young 'Snow' introduces himself once more but seems to just use his first or last name. "Carter..." not bothering to indicate which it is. Maybe that's the only name he answers to these nights. "Thank you for the gift, by the way. Its been a while since I've seen snow like back home."

The Grinch beams and his expression perks up when Paige compliments his clan, "Yer too kind Sheriff, and yeah I am thanks. Everyone's been real nice, though I stll ain't managed'ta get down underground yet. Lookin' forward'ta that." The Grinch looks overjoyed when the pretty lady takes his hand and he returns her handshake as if it's one of the best Christmas presents someone could ever give him, "I woz, and I jus' wanna say it weren't nuthin' personal wif me stealin' that Lapras. It was jus' too perfect'ta not try an' get."

Flavien chuckles. “Yeah, I know what you mean,” he says. “I am new here, yeah. I used to live in Mexico for a while. It’s been a while since I’ve seen snow too - until last night, anyway. They have a castle up in Idyllwild, you know?” He makes an ‘ok’ gesture with one hand to indicate its impressiveness. “Very spot-on. Looks just like the real deal.”

He nods in response to the Game of Thrones reference. “I liked the dragons. The last season sucked, though. In my ...humble opinion, obviously.”

The song goes on as the pair move in perfect sync, singing together “Those who’ve seen us, know that not a thing could come between us. Many men have tried to split us up but no one can” as they dance with the fans
“Lord help the mister, who comes between me and my sister – and LORD help the sister, who comes between me and my man!” they sing together until the final pose as the song ends, both smiling brightly at one another

Hannah offers a murmured reply to Katharina, although she allows herself to fall silent once more when another show begins. She watches, hands clasped, her attention diverted only upon seeing Flavien stroll past on his way to the bar and Carter. Her glance is curious but unconcerned, before drifting back to watch the two vampire sing on stage. The song continues.

Daphnne smiles as she listens to Madeline's and Hailee's song and she gives Carter a gentle nod of her head. "Back home? Where is that? What has brought you to our Praxis?"

Katharina hears the mention of her castle and looks over a moment, before looking back to Hannah. She pats Hannah's hand, and gives it a squeeze if she can. "Of course. I enjoy sharing the tales. Life lessons, or how to keep it that is. Especially when you face Tremere. Contact me and we can setup some time either in Idyllwild, or Prospect. I come to see my husband some times, but leaving Idyllwild is not an easy thing for me to do, as I love it so much."

Colombe nods warmly to Stan. "All is fair, I ended up with something equally majestic that fits nicely in my pocket. I must say, the ways of the Hidden are largely a mystery to me, is there a reason why you haven't been underground, yet?"

"Because you die if you are not welcome Coco." Paige tilts her head over to Colombe, though her eyes are mostly watching Flavien and Carter as Daph interacts. "I don't even go into the sewers, though that is mostly a show of respect to Nino."

Katharina claps for the performance on the stage. "Well done! Bravo!"

Madeline and Hailee take their bows, waving with the feather fans before they hurry off the stage

Daphnne applauds as Madeline and Hailee finish up and her face lights up with her smile. "Wonderfully done, my Dear Duchess. The two of you sing so well together." Her attention slowly returns to Carter then for his response.

Holding up a finger to pause Flavien's comments - though he's too late and the guy goes on to add his thoughts about dragons and the last *cough* season - to ask, "Wait...did you say, 'castle'. Like battlements, drawbridge, cool towers and creepy dungeons.../castle/?" His mind can't really take that image in all at once so it sort of leans heavily on his processing side for a bit. Like a gang of curios gaming nerds all clustering around a big-screen tv for one of the BIG moments on their favorite show, the collective weight of his thoughts tilts the man's head to one side in consideration. "Might have to go check that out...from like...a considerable distance or something."

Turning to Daphnne so as not to be considered a guest with bad manners, he tries to explain his situation in the least most complicated fashion he can. "My sire and I were abushed on the road heading to L.A. I headed south to here per our original plan should anything go weird - and it did. I only popped in for like a night or two a while back cause I was hurt. But I've not been able to pick up my sire's trail or any sign of the attackers. So...I might have to stay here a while until llI get picked up." Because brevity is the heart of all good stories as is leaving enough on the table to encourage them to want to hear more. "I hope that it's ok that I'm back in town again. I didn't want to make it weird but after weeks searching - I'm kind of having to fall back to our previous plan."

Once Stan has finished shaking hands with Colombe, he turns and applauds for Hailee and Madeline, his attention more on the latter than the former and then he returns his eyes to the two ladies he is talking to, "Mista Caravelli's jus' been busy is all, and I ain't managed'ta meet Nino yet neither. I gotta do everythin' propa like, ya know? Wouldn't wanna piss anyone off, or anythin' like that, especially bein' new an' all."

Hannah claps for the performers, clap-clap-clap; it's too bad that cardio isn't a thing anymore, because these guns are getting a workout tonight. She smiles warmly to Katharina, nodding her head, and saying, "I would genuinely love that. I have visited just the once, but it was brief. I'm sure that it would be even more lovely with you as a hostess." She dips her head in a polite bow, adding, "Thank you for the invitation. I do not wish to jeopardize your time, but I did want to say hello." Glancing back to the stage, she allows her ongoing applause to end, adding, "Well done," toward the two performers on stage. She glances toward the tree, ensuring there are still gifts ripe for the plundering.

Daphnne blinks for a moment and then tells Carter, "Idyllwild castle... Yes, it is a real castle. Our coterie's castle in fact, and the Duchess Katharina's fief. It is high in the mountains there. I am sorry to hear that you were set upon in your travels. What was it that attacked you? Lupines?" Daphnne adds softly, "And I am the new Keeper here, I did not realize that you were of this city before."

Madeline returns, once again in her holiday gown

"How interesting." Colombe replies to Stan and Paige as she claps for Hailee and Madeline. "That is rather a lot more strict than I would have expected among clan members, but it does speak to the power present among the leadership of the underground.

Angelica flexes her feet in her boots and then sits back on the lounger. She watches the people as they converse, just happy to be in the atmosphere

“A real castle,” Flavien confirms. “Light on the creepy dungeons though.” He listens to the rest of Carter’s story with a slight head tilt and a small frown. “That’s...rough.” No further elaboration, though; it brings back memories of his own past, in a different context, but none that he’s willing to share in this setting.

Madeline smiles and rejoins Angelica with a fond kiss to the girl's temple "are you ejoying yourself ma cheri?

Katharina moves over toward Daphnne and Flavien and Carter. "Sir, if you wish to see the dungeon, I would be happy to give you a tour. It does exist, and my dear friend and Warmaster Milenka makes she it is kept creepy enough for everyone to enjoy." She smiles as she teases a bit. "In fact, some of us woke up there after torpor a few years back." She offers to Carter, and Flavien as she is yet to meet them both. "I heard you speaking of my domain, and wished to introduce myself to you both. I am Katharina von Starhemberg, Duchess of Idyllwild, Pine Cove, and the Fern Valley. Formerly of Balgrad, Transylvania. You are welcome to come check out my domain, as well as the Grand Library Elysium when you have a chance."

"My dear Coco, one of the reasons I like the Nosferatu is their absolute paranoia." Paige raises her brows softly, before she snorts. "Without a guide he will likely run into one of the deathtraps." Then she makes a vague motion of her hand. "If I may be excused however, it is time for me to annoy people with the stage."

Stan chuckles and nods his head in agreement with Colombe, "Yah, it ain't no joke. It's always smart'ta be welcome and know ya way around," he grins, "Ya never know what'll run into in the dark." Paige has the right of it, and again he nods, "That's right, and lots more. It was nice conversin' wif ya Sheriff. Merry Christmas."

The carolers continue to provide a bit of background music, moving through the room to keep the atmosphere going as the guests visit.

“Duchess,” Flavien says, folding his hands behind his back and bowing. “Pardon me for assuming it was less than creepy. The rest of the castle is so well-appointed I could only imagine the good taste extended to the dungeon, if there was one. Thank you for inviting us to your domain.” He pauses. “I remember Transylvania from long ago. My memories of it are of a beautiful city. Strong in faith. It would be a pleasure to visit again.”

Madeline looks over and smiles at Stan "I had no idea you were so talented Monseiur, well done tonight"

Angelica looks over at Madeline with a smile "Oh yes of course Madeline. It was beautiful this evening"

Excused, Hannah meanders in the direction of the Christmas tree with its many gifts, and reaches down to claim a box. She holds it in the cradle of her bionic arm, while her good hand tugs at the ribbon and then peels off the lid. She peers inside to evaluate her new treasure, while her high-heeled feet move in a slow stroll past the various social niceties so that she may claim a seat on one of the room's many couches. She sinks down with a small bounce, her hand scooping out the recently revealed gift.

"Honestly I've tried to retrace the steps of the attack and all I can say is that it involved one of those barbed strips the police use to shred tired. My sire's car went off the road and me and the escourt came up behind him to provide cover while we figured out what was up." He tkes a moment to glance back to Flavien as the conversation about favorite shows has been momentarily derailed and shrugs as though appologizing for having to depart from more plesant topics.

"They were -wicked- fast, but not wearing any armor. Our guards popped at least two and I know my sire took out at least three more of them. But...they moved like...they weren't trained to do it. Uncoordinated ya know? And the first wave was like...I dunno, throw aways. Before more came he told me to get out of there so I took off. And yeah, but I was only in town like two nights. This would be the third - just like a month apart." His tone is definitely practiced - forcing his words to hopefully not make it sound like he's taking advantage of anyone's hospitality.

...and then the Duchess introduces herself and Carter needs to turn towards her without looking starstruck at her list of titles. Thankfully no telepath in the room could hear him think "...and breaker of chains..." when she finished the litany of her power. "Grand Library?" he can't help but ask. Oh, he's one of /those/ types. "I'm uh...Carter...of no where near here, " his east coast accent betrays him as something maybe Boston or there abouts.

Hannah sits on the Plush sofa.

Colombe grins warmly to Stan. "That seems wise." As Madeline approaches, she offers Stan a nod. "It was lovely to make your acquaintance, I look forward to seeing you again. Adieu, sir. Mademoiselles." She offers the last to Madeline and Angelica. She turns to walk to the tree, and randomly selects a white-papered gift.

Daphnne listens carefully and interjects, "Katharina is still a woman of strong faith. Of all of us she never wavering a moment." She blinks her eyes as Carter launches into his story and she listens politely.

Paige nods her head once to Stan, before she is stepping away, towards the stage. She sighs out a little, kneeling for a moment to unlock the clasps on her violin case, but her eyes are on Flavien. "Pay attention, I am only doing this once."

Madeline inclines her head to Columbe as she takes her leave then turns her attention to the conversations flowing around her

Stan brings up a hand to give Colombe a wave goodbye and then he turns his full attention to Madeline so he can give a low bow, "Good evenin' Duchess Blanchard." He slowly rises back up to his towering height and a huge, toothed grin splits his face, "Me neither me'lady, there's a first fer everythin'. You were amazin' o'course."

Katharina looks with much interest to this story from Carter. "Perhaps you should report this to the Sheriff, or the Scourge." She gestures toward Paige, but oh, she is walking up to the stage. "Perhaps after she performs tonight. Obviously, you see there is a party going on tonight. Considering past parties I have attended, you just never know who you will meet." She looks to Daphnne, "Remember that party where we met Vlad?"

Madeline smiles warmly at Stan "YOu are too kind mon ami. And how is your new houseguest doing?"

Colombe walks over to Daphnne, Katharina, and Carter, meanwhile. She offers the elder Ventrue a deep nod. "I must bid you adieu. Thank you for such a lovely evening, the entertainment was beautiful, and so merry." She inclines her head to Katharina. "I realize we haven't met. I am Colombe de Berenger of Clan Ventrue. As many have said, your castle is remarkable." To Carter, she smiles faintly.

Daphnne turns to watch Paige approach the stage and smiles, obviously pleased. She turns back at Katharina's question and laughs softly, giving her old friend an amused expression, "Of course I do, and I /very/ much recall his reaction to you, my dear Katharina."

Daphnne adds as she hears Colombe, "It was wonderful to have you here. We must all get together again soon, and you still need to come and see the Island."

Stan's grin widens even more if that's possible and he nods his head up and down so much he might pull a neck muscle, "Great! We've been real careful with her, and kept her safe, though we ain't taken her down under yet. Not until we find out everythin's kosher like. Wouldn't want nuthin'ta happen to her, ya know?"

“It was nice to see you again tonight, Colombe,” Flavien says pleasantly. “You look magnificent, as always.” He gives her a slight bow as well, before straightening and sticking a hand casually in his pocket, meeting Paige’s gaze as she stares from the stage.

Katharina's cheeks blush a bit. "Fate is something you just cannot help." She smiles to Colombe, "Ah, yes, Ms. de Berenger, oh I should say Whip de Berenger. It is a pleasure to meet you. Anyone of my dear friends clan, is most welcome in the Castle." She looks to Daphnne, "Perhaps we should hold another story night, to tell some of our tales together?"

Madeline chuckles warmly and nods to Stan "oui, make sure your Primogen and Nino approve" she smiles, clearly tickled about something.

Paige nods softly again, as she rises. An old yamaha violin, and her bow. She positions herself in a well practiced set, eyes drifting closed for a moment.

Where the /other/ instruments come from, perhaps no one will ever know. The magic of blood, or the fact that she had long ago backdoored herself into the sound systems of all the Elysiums and one castle. But it is there none the less, the music, and Paige, given her standing posistion, in the part of lead violin. Letting her fingers move, the bow sing, body twisting at the torso through it. Wordless and breathless through her song.

Upon her lonesome seat on the upholstered couch, Hannah draws out another snowglobe ornament. She tilts the delicate bauble and watches the tiny flakes of artificial snow swirl and fall toward the heavens -- only to flip it right-side-up again, allowing those sparkles to drift once more. There's a faint smile, almost nostalgic, which is probably why that smile gradually slips into a pained frown. The ornament is gingerly slipped back into the box, and the Tremere seems content to sit on the sidelines and watch the various interactions at play. The chatter at the bar. The back-and-forth with the resident Grinch. When Paige begins to play her violin, however, Hannah turns her complete attention forward and watches with obvious appreciation.

Daphnne shakes a slender finger at Katharina, seeming to love to tease her friend. Then she nods her head, "Oh yes, that would be wonderful. I have had some of the younger Kindred ask for stories. Perhaps we could even get Vilmos to come as well, and Milenka and we could all four tell stories that would make their dead hearts almost race."

Carter just swallows and nods to the Ventrue woman who swung by the bar to make her introduction to the Duchess lady with the castle. He's not cool enough to get that kind of attention. As people start to move around a bit, he -almost- missed the mention of a name; /the/ name. Though he doesn't voice his question, the look he gives the castle-owning Duchess basically asks "Did you just say you met capital-V-Vlad?" It's all in how he raised his eyes in disbelief, how the thoughts in his mind rushed from processing to detection and caused his head to tilt in the other direction. Nope, he's not going to ask. Ask a woman her age and you'd get slapped - as a vampire woman her age and they wall you up in their dungeon. He's heard stories.

"I will have to speak to them yes. I wasn't planning on invading your lands - well, I really wasn't even planning on /being/ in your lands but it looks like I might be a face in the crowd for a while."

Madeline turns as the music catches her ear and tives her attention to Paige, a brow arching but the music causes a smile to play about her lips

Colombe's eyes light up at the idea proposed by Katharina. "I would be honoured. I was raised hearing stories of the olde times, the glorious battles and defeats." Her gaze shifts to Flavien, and she offers the Phaedymite Ravnos a slight nod. When Paige begins to perform, her attention is entirely consumed and she simply pauses to listen and watch.

Stan keeps on nodding and his heavily made up face manages to somehow convey an extreme amount of gratitude aimed toward the Toreador Elder, "Yes Ma'am, o'course Ma'am. It wouldn't be smart'ta do it any other way. Gotta follow the rules and do everythin' by the book. Don't want no trouble, trouble's bad." The tall man slowly stops his nodding and fawning and looks around before he returns his attention back to Madeline, his expression turning up into an almost apologetic look as he says, "But now if you will excuse me Duchess, I'm afraid I gotta get. It woz nice seein' ya again though."

Katharina responds as if it is nothing. "Yes, Vlad. Vlad Tepes. Dracula. We knew him. In fact, we were tasked to bring him, as a mortal, to the one that wished to Sire him. That... did not work out. The Cathedral of Flesh did not seem to like it or us." She shrugs as if it is nothing. "We were involved for awhile, he is much more than what the book said of him." Much more in good and very very evil ways. "I can tell you many stories about him, if you wish sometime. But do not worry, he is not around here these days. It's been now 2 years since he came for my wedding."

After giving his good nights, the Green Meanie quietly slinks out of the Great Hall.

Daphnne adores stringed instruments and Paige has her full attention then as her performance starts and she smiles in contentment. At least she has it until she hears Carter and the disbelief in his voice. Her eyebrows slight arch and her brow furrows together as she turns to say something but Katharina beat her to the punch. She instead turns her attention to Stan and smiles warmly to him, "Thank you for coming and for helping in the performance. It was wonderful to have met you."

A small smile plays about Flavien’s lips as he watches Paige play, recognition flashing over his features. He pays the keenest attention to Paige’s performance, his gaze never faltering away from her even as he listens to the conversation go on behind him.

Paige finishes her song softly, and without aplomb or really much of a reaction from herself, she kneels to set her violin back in its case. Her voice as soft as ever though as she hmms. "You are about three weeks short of two years Duchess. I would not have been recognized until the end of this coming week, and it was a court or two after that."

Somewhere, there's a cat being...oh wait. The Duchess just said that she knew of, met, was going to bring Capital-V, Vlad somewhere and he was at her /wedding/? Yeah, the violin playing is totally off his radar. Thankfully he's got enough self control to push the thoughts back to their respective cubicles so he can right his head. It's a bare miracle that he's not just standing slack-jawed in awe of the revelation that the V-man was, in the Kevin Bacon sense, this close to him.

Clearing his throat to break the mental loading screen, Carter nods to the Duchess and tries to take her up on the offer, "Oh, I would welcome hearing a few of the stories you had from back in the day - if you wouldn't mind a visitor up to your...castle." He sounds odd and somewhat uncomfortable in saying those words and trying to make them sound as common as 'I'll come by your apartment' but castle just isn't one of those things you throw around in conversations - at least not his.

Colombe smiles warmly to Paige, and also applauds. "Many thanks to you, Sheriff." She pauses, and looks around to those near her. "And all of you. It is a rare gift, to be surrounded by all of this beauty, in vision, sound, and motion. This evening has been most wonderful." She inclines her head, to the small group, before leaving. "Adieu." And as she passes, she gives Hannah a wink, and a quick grin.

The party starts to do that thing parties do when they wind down and begin to fade. All parties have the time when they are appointed to end naturally, and when they go pat that time, only crazy shit happens, and rarely is it good. Flavien makes an effort to catch Hannah’s eye where she’s spacing out with her snow globe; she got the Uber last night, he should get the Uber tonight.

Hannah rises from the couch to offer a loud whistle, safely reassured that /this/ performer would not take it poorly. She claps as well, smiling wide, and then tucks her gift-box under one arm so that she may saunter over to the exceptionally popular bar. Resting her matte black bionic arm onto the countertop, she leans in between Flavien and Carter so that she may address the former. "Hey. I have to head back to town soon, if you want a ride? I wouldn't be surprised if you biked all this way, and I'd hate for some cad to snatch you off the road at this hour." She offers him a /very/ serious look, that can only mean she is teasing.

Glancing over her shoulder, she adds to the socially-assaulted Carter only a simple smile and a salute against her pale brow. "Hey there, new guy. I'm Hannah. Clan Tremere. Sounds like you know how to make an entrance, all things considered." She rocks away from the bar, and offers a bent elbow toward Flavien in offering. To the assembly, she adds, "Thank you so much for hosting such a lovely evening. It was nice to see all of your individual talents." A smile, a wave, and she begins walking toward the doors.

Daphnne applauds Paige, but her attention keeps getting taken by Carter. This time though it is amusement at his reaction to Katharina, "It is not just Helen of Troy that could have coined the phrase 'Was this the face that launched a thousand ships and burnt the topless towers of Ilium?'"

Katharina did watch some and listened to Paige's performance. When she finishes, she claps for her. "Brava, Sheriff. Brava."

“My hero,” Flavien says, taking Hannah’s elbow with a grin. “Uber’d actually, but I was gonna ask if you wanted to split it. I was just at this charity thing, making tamales, and I didn’t wanna be later than I already was.” He offers a little bow to the assembled elders. “Thank you for the festivities this evening.” And he’s dragged away with Hannah. Onward and upward.

"Someone just said the C word." Paige notes, hopping down off the stage with a sigh. Her eyes drifting over towards Hannah. "You know Sandpiper is a thing right?"

Daphnne smiles at those leaving, "Thank you all for coming and be safe in the night. Do not forget to choose a gift if you have not already."

Carter tries to smile as the bionic arm slides between him and the guy he was trying to keep in the conversation - but then /that/ clan was mentioned again and he socially tries to press himself into and through the bar to avoid contact - all with a polite smile. "I uh..yeah..." is about all he can muster at this point. "I'm really just a boring guy," he offers as a means of down playing his relevance or importance in anything of note.

"But I should be heading out too. Thank you to you both for putting a candle in the window and all that. I appreciate it." Turning to both Daphnnee and the Duchess he tries to find a way to make an exist without seeming rude - if that's even possible.

Katharina waves to those leaving. "I hope to see you again sometime."

Hannah watches with some bemusement as Carter gets antsy and slips away from her arm -- or maybe her clan? But after a curious once-over, she resumes the slow retreat with Flavien. To Paige, she says, "Uhhhh you know my sweet as hell Lambo is a thing too, right?" She takes this opportunity to pop open her small clutch and slip out a pair of sunglasses. And just because she's a bad b, she has a second pair on hand too, which she offers to Flavien. "You were great, Paige," she says, "Let's talk soon."

Flavien, of course, puts on the sunglasses. Like a boss.

Daphnne watches as most of the guests make their way out and then turns to Katharina, "It was /so/ wonderful to have you here tonight. It was like old times again."

Katharina smiles and takes Daphnne's hand, "Yes, but better. Without all of the turmoil of our Sire's, or the Anarchs, or a demon, or... you know. All of that."

Daphnne adds softly then, "Well, old times without the danger element I should say." And then she laughs softly as Kat echoes her words.
