2020.12.05: Tainted Kinfolk

Tainted Kinfolk
In the continuing saga of the tainted Pungent Pegg, now there are issues at Heidi's brewery with the kinfolk there.

Theron drives his jeep up and pulls it to stop, the kin looks a little under the weather compared to his normal, a tired visage as he mutters to Heidi, "Here we are...

Taika is up working on Evonna's cabin (or if that one is done, then whatever else is up on the honey do list). Kora is seated and making more cookies because she can and because she has a sweet tooth.

Heidi hops out of the jeep once unbuckling her seatbelt. She's in her work clothes before hitting the office today. She's wearing a cream colored simple dress with a pair of strappy shoes and a light scarf around her neck. Her hair is knotted up in the back, swedish style with a push pin of pearl. She also looks rather tired today as if she hasn't been sleeping well. "I need to get a few things from the kitchen and check on the morning kin working the fire and oven. Then... I'll be, ready.. to go." She scratches along her left arm idly.

Detlef has been quite often out just patrolling around the borders of the Creek lands.. learning them and exploring them, as well as just watching for anyone that might come that way that shouldnt. This morning isnt really an exception, his boots damp from the morning dew and his ever-present back pack worn firmly over his shoulders.. He does use these times to 'find things' for Heidi and the kitchen, so he has a burlap sack on hand as well with things for the kitchen

Kora looks up as Heidi and Theron pull up. "Kia Ora.". She ticks, "The early bird catches the Wyrm.". Pop. Taika is too busy to notice Theron and Heidi, but he does spot Detlef coming into the open and calls out, "All silent out there?"

Stomp. Stomp. Stomp. Leif comes along, carrying a very large deer over his shoulder. It's already been dressed out and little Freya is trotting alongside, carrying a bunny in her mouth. It's gross, but goddamn, she's so fucking happy. The bunny is still quite alive and freaked out because it's in a wolf's mouth, but ALSO because Leif is fucking scary. "Drop it or kill it, Freya." Leif looks down at the little wolf and the wolf looks up at Leif. Leif grumbles and balances the deer just right and starts to reach down and the wolf cub lunges away, heading right for someone with boobs. Because they seem to be the nicest and give best scritches. So probably Heidi, with the bunny making hysterical squealy noises.

The sound of the classic motorcycle of Karmen can be heard in the distance, and in due course, it appears some way away. She parks up, and then shoulders her pack, and walks the rest of the way - getting the vehicle any closer would be a risk given the nature of the trail. She waves heartily to the gathered ensemble, her usual good mood clearly in evidence. However, in a rather bizarre development, she appears to have a very large cigar in her mouth - not smoking, but cigar it most assuredly is. "G'day, friends, two legged an' four!"

Theron nods to Heidi, he climbs out of the jeep and just leans on it, "Sure let me know." he replies then to the others as they gather, "Hey everyone." he says with a tired wave.

Heidi lifts a hand to wave over to Kora and then her brother working on Ev's roof. Det gets a wave too. She's in her work clothes before hitting the office today. She's wearing a cream colored simple dress with a pair of strappy shoes and a light scarf around her neck. Her hair is knotted up in the back, swedish style with a push pin of pearl.

As the Swedish kin is walking along to the main lodge she pauses when Freya comes running right at her. She nearly trips and suddenly squats down to see what the wolf pup has. There's a sigh she makes as she looks to the wolf with tired eyes. Another scratch is given to her left arm which looks like she's been doing it all morning since her forearm is pink from her own scritching. "Heya Freya. Good morning, Leif." She holds a hand out to see if the wolf will share the squealing bunny. "She gunna bite me if I wring its neck in her mouth?"

Shakeshakeshake!! LOOK WHAT I BROUGHT YOU, HEIDI!!!! SHAKESHAKE *SQUEAL!* The approach of Heidi is finally just too much for the bunny and it.. expires. Leif wrinkles his nose and shrugs. "I don't think she would. I'm not sure that she even knows HOW to kill it. She just picked it up. I think it's dead now." Another nose crinkle and Leif moves over to wherever the meat is generally stored to start putting the dressed out deer away

Karmen blanches a little at the fate of the poor bunny, but regains her composure after a moment. It is hard to keep her down for long. But she's not yet used to some of the more visceral aspects of garou life. "Little Freya seems... enthusiastic." She toys with her cigar, then bites the end off. And starts chewing. "Some people do have the most unusual habits."

Taika stretches as he notes more activity below from the squealing rabbit noises. He climbs down and gives everyone a nod. Up to now they meat has been stored in individual cabins most likely, but having a store house for all is probably not a bad idea. He takes note.

Kora grins as she sees Karmen and stops working on the cookies to maneuver her chair back to her cabin, She comes out with the catalog and a huge smile. With a tick of contorted face muscles, she says, "Santa baby, I want a ring," Pop. She smirks and offers the catalog to Karmen, which has earmarks and circles inside. "I've selected a few things if that is ok?"

Heidi looks at the Freya pup with much excitement and gives her praise. "Loook how good you did! Yesh you did... you beautiful pup youuuu." Woofy talk from the Swedish kin who offers Freya scritches now that she doesn't have to snap the bunny's neck for her. "And now you have to eat that you know."

Looking up at Leif, Heidi smiles tiredly and slowly stands up to get on her feet again. She wobbles as if that whole mix of sit to stand just didn't go so well. A look goes to Theron and one might think the kinfolk were up all night partying or doing whatever it is they do at Ravenscar drinking after a Friday night. They both look hungover. The Swede kin scratches again at her left arm and takes a few steps over back to the campfire and begins to walk a bit off-key, few steps to the left, not in a straight line, then straightens back to bee-line, then she gives a big pause and starts to sway.

Theron takes a few steps from his jeep, you dont want to make a mess of your jeep, then Theron bends down like he is about to puke but its more of a cough/dry heave, "Ugh...Heidi, I think you got me sick." he complains.

Leif wanders over to Freya and Heidi once he has the deer down and put away. Freya's just playing with the bunny, tossing it up in the air and running around in circles. Leif sighs. "Freya...." he comes up next to Heidi and shakes his head. "Poor little bunbun." He watches Heidi wander off and takes a deep breath and then sort of gags a little. His eyes widen and he snags Heidi by the arm and hauls her not very nicely back to him, sticks his whole face in her hair and SNIIIIIIIFFS. "The fuck you do?" He has a good grip on her arm and he might be a little rought, but he isn't going to hurt her. And then his attention turns toward Theron and he points. "You come here too."

Karmen receives the catalog and grins. "I was coming out to talk to you about it. Let's take a look at what you have selected." She stuffs the cigar into her mouth, and then produces one to hand to Kora. "Get your laughing tackle round that, chicky." She leafs through the booklet and nods thoughtfully. "That's a pretty solid choice. Robust. I can probably add some fancy things, as well. I suck a corkscrew into a thumb joint yesterday. Not likely to ever be made commercially - but I wanted to prove I could do it!"

Taika spots Heidi swaying too, but Leif is luckily closer. His senses kick into overdrive looking for something and he spots tell tale signs, "You are tainted. You should have called us before coming back here and possibly tainting the lands.". He looks to Theron, "I trust you were safe, but use protection next time and ask to be cleansed just in case. Does anyone else know Rite of cleansing and want to help me cleanse these two and their truck?"

Kora looks at Karmen and holds a finger up to wait as Heidi nearly falls, "Come sit her over at the table."

Detlef drops off the sack of goods he brought in the cooler and waves to all of the people arriving. "Hey.. So far its quiet.. One hiker out just for a walk last night, but he didnt come too close.. Seemed ordinary." he then walks over closer to Theron "Whats the matter?" he shows a little concern over the ill seeming kin.

Kinfolk meets giant pulling her over to get all snuffly faced by Leif. Heidi turns her head to scrunch her nose a bit and ends up leaning into that hold. Her own eyes widen to look back at him but they look more rimmed like she's got the edge of a cold, and her eyes are itchy red from an allergy. Her blonde hair smells like the most disgusting taint to someone who can sense she's accidentally gotten into something she shouldn't have. Her body reacts like she has the flu and she appears to be under the weather of some kind of bug. "Leif..." being yanked is like vertigo. She's not planning going anywhere. "I think I'm going to throw up. Or pass out. Maybe both."

"Tainted? How? I havent had any action...Ive just been here and home, and had dinner with Heidi..." Theron grumps a complaint but he complies heading over to be cleansed. "If something has caused taint, when well Im going to hunt it down..." he grunts.

Karmen looks alarmed at the tainty development, and takes a few paces back. The cigar dangles from her lips, somewhat neglected as a result. She has never seen this sort of thing before, and has no clue what to do. It's not all cakes and ale, she knows, but it is not the same thing to know it, as to see it.

NOT ON HIS WATCH!! Leif just scoops Heidi up like a teeny tiny little baby and carries her over to Taika, but now he's had a face full of Heidi hair and if she's oozing anything, he's probably got cooties too. SO he just holds onto her for now. Someone can yell at him later. "I can't heal shit." He's gotta work on that too. Heidi gets something at least resembliing an apologetic look. "Freya, COME HERE." He makes his voice stern enough that the little wolf drops her bunny and comes to heel at Leif's side.

Taika on the Phone: 'It's a man introducing himself as Sven Stephenson, CFO of International relations of the American division and finance officer of Vardanyan Breweries. Taika is listed as Heidi's immediate family contact for emergencies. He's kinfolk. Fenris. He states, "We have a problem at the Prospect office division. One of the staff called him. There's a lot of sick kinfolk in the office today. Two passed out in the brewery tasting room. Another throwing up in the back office, and four more in the kitchen have hives and rashes. It's not good. He's asking one of the garou to please come and help. They aren't calling ambulances. It's suspect for something ... else?'

Taika sighs and says, gather around the table them please. I need to draw a circle around the lot of you.". Taika heads inside his cabin and comes out with a few willow branches and a bowl full of pure water. He pauses as his phone rings and sets the ritualistic ingredients down near the fire pit. He answers the phone with a Kia Ora?

Detlef Looks a little surprised, he follows "I dont know how to cleanse.. but what can I do to help here?" he asks

Karmen reaches down to rest a hand on the poor spooked wolf, looking very spooked herself. "It's all right, little one, you will be fine. Hush now, hush. It's all right." She is fairly reassuring in tone, but it is an effort, given that she is a s spooked as the pup.

• • • Leif overhears the phone conversation.

Taika listens and pinches the bridge of his nose. To Theron, Taika frowns, "Sorry Theron. I just assumed with the both of you being tired and with Heidi training under you that you went hunting last night. Something else seems to have happened. Heidi, that was Sven Stephenson. He said many kinfolk at the brewery have the same symptoms you are portraying. As I do this ritual first, I expect an explanation so we know what we are walking into.". Looking to Detlef, "We will need many willow branches and a few gallons of the water from the waterfall. Can you gather that for me please. Circle up everyone. You too Karmen.". Taika uses a branch to start drawing a circle.

Heidi huffs out when picked up only because then everything starts to get swirly and blurry, and that vertigo is still there. "I'm okay." She's not. "Eh?" Once down she is aware Taika is moving around and getting stuff and the phone ringing. For a split second she dry heaves, trying hard not to yuke.

Leif doesn't seem terribly WORRIED. More annoyed and he's also carrying around someone else's girl, so that's an issue probably. With Taika's phone call, he frowns and looks around, then his brow slowly climbs higher. "Um... okay. We're gonna need an adult I think." He just stays right where he is. Puked on isn't the worst thing to ever happen to him. "You have an entire office full of tainted people, man."

Detlef Nods once at the instruction from Taika, He starts to move with some urgency, grabbing two of the water buckets, he will go get those filled at the waterfall first, As he is carrying those back he asks "How many people work there?"

Karmen tries to encourage little Freya to go with her to the circle. Karmen looks decidedly green about the gills. If she is right, does this mean she has somehow also been subjected to... taint? "What do I need to do? I am sorry, I've never even seen a rite before, this is all a bit much to take in. Hush now!" She bends and strokes along Freya's head. She is, at least, able to give reassurance. It is very hard to be stressed or annoyed with Karmen for some reason. She's just got an infectious sort of bonhomie. So they take their place, and she bites the end off her cigar and chews that nervously.

"Just come over here, miss," Leif says to Karmen. You're all goobered up now too. Just pick the pup up. She won't mind." He's being all serious now, ready to PROTEC! KINFOLK! PROTEC!!! Also, Heidi isn't getting down from where she is.

Taika uses the embers that are still lightly smoldering from the night before to set one of the branches on fire. It is out out so smoke wafts into the air. He begins walking counter clockwise with the smoke, invoking the spirits in Maori to help cleanse those gathered. The smoke starts to take on life of its own and swirls around the circle, washing over everyone and concentrating on those more affected. Taika dips another branch in the water and starts yelling and making Haka faces in a fierce display of dominance over the taint. The water is splashed over reverting with a few extra hearty shakes over Heidi and Theron. With one final hiiiiyeeeeee, the loud shot scares off the remaining taint and Taika sighs. He goes and performs the ritual around the truck and along their walking path too just to be cautious. To Detlef, "Sounds like 7 sick, but who knows how many more are tainted at home or what caused this.". To Leif, "Calling in back up would be good, but I'm not sure we have time to wait. Theron can drive."

Karmen picks up the pupper, and comes to stand close to the people she trusts. She holds Freya close, taking reassurance from the hugging of something soft, warm, and adorable. She doesn't speak, though she does seem to be shaking somewhat, and it is not from the temperature. She just soothes the babu awoo, and dangles her cigar from her teeth absently. So far, she has bitten off both ends and not even tried to light it. It's been one of those days.

Heidi's still awake but one of her hands moves up over her face and eyes to shield them when Taika begins his cleansing ritual. Her other arm goes around her stomach and she grimaces. "Ten. On a given day about half that with different shared shifts." She's still awake but feeling like complete crap. There's that pinkish red line on her left forearm where she's been scritching it. It looks like a rash spreading upward. Frowning deeply she looks somewhat releived beneath the work the others are doing now to get the taint off her and Theron. "Ev and Ulf cleansed us after the last fight with Pegg. Everything got burned, Leif. Everything. But the Bluebird pack hasn't gone after that Pizza place from the flier we saw yet... right? They getting into businesses down the street from the truck?! Maybe?"

Detlef Nods and follows the instructions that Taika gives.. He frowns a little "I dont know who I would call in.. other than the pack.. I can call them but i dont know how long it will take them to arrive. " he agrees. "Did you tell those that are sick out there to stay put, so they dont spread it any further.. make sure they dont spread this until we can get to them?"

Killigrew sleepily stumbles out of Aldric's cabin, tugging a sweatshirt on over her head and starting towards where there might be food and coffee. It takes about three steps for things to register and she blinks, shaking off the up-late sleepies and moving to join the gathered group of upset people. "Hey, what's going on?" Brows knotted up with worry.

Theron shudders a bit as the cleansing does his work, "Fuck." he swears, "That...I actually do feel alot better.." he coughs once more, clearing his throat. "Christ Heidi...." he mutters managing a smile, "Now we have to kill it..." he looks to the garou, "Tracking down and cleansing taint isnt in my wheel house, but killing the enemy is."

Karmen snuggles the Freya, although the little wolf is getting a little wriggly. Karmen's voice is a bit shaky. She's never been through anything like this. Unless you count gang initiation, and all she had to do then was drink tequila and get a tattoo. "Um... what do I do now? Am I all right? I'm sorry, what did I do to get this taint? Did I screw something up? I just came to see Kora..."

Now that all of the cleansing is done, Taika looks to Detlef, "Yeah nah, but that's a good idea.". He calls Sven back and not only tells them to gather everyone together, but to call in anyone that left and to bring in whoever was in contact (oh dear Gaia we have contact tracing here too aaaaahhhh. Cough. Ahem.).

Kora pats Karmen, "No, Heidi brought it here. We are safe again. You were probably ok, but better to be safe than sorry. Out apologies if we scared you.". She ticks, "Fuck the Garou." Pop. That's about right.

Detlef nods to the more knowldegable healer than he will ever be. "Okay.. " he agrees, then waits to see what else he needs to do to help here.. if anything.

Leif just stands there with Heidi and gives her a little reassuring smile. "It'll be okay. We're going to pizza hut... tonight if I have anything to say about it." When all the cleansing is done, he turns his head aside and spits, just for good measure and hangs onto Heidi until he's SURE that she's okay. He kinda likes being a personal hammock for kinfolk. Comfy.

Karmen sets the wriggly Freya back down, and ruffles the little one's fur gently. "There we go, there's a good little awoo. So darn adorable!" She kneels and retrieves the catalog she dropped, then bites another chink off her cigar. "Well, I am trying to do that Kora, but even I can only do one at a time. I think I need to have a talk with some people, though. I definitely need to learn a LOT more if it is going to be getting this dangerous around here."

Detlef looks over to Karmen and offers "Now that we are not in.. such a hurry.. Who are you?" he asks with a little bit of a smile.

"And I thought Theron was working me too hard with all his Mr. Miygai exercises." She blames Theron right back with an I feel bad right now, pout, 'I'm sorry! Yes, kill the bad guys. Please." She does start to look better now that the ritual is over. Color returns to her face and that red line of rash on her left forearm fades, like a magical tainted goo that never belonged there in the first place.

Heidi mock punches Leif over his heart with a tiny little tap. "Good sniffler action, Leif. I owe you like a mountain of whatever your favorite food is. And... I'm really glad I didn't throw up on you. Thanks" And then she looks to Det and Taika, "Fuck. Just so sorry guys. We have to go help my brewery staff now. Taika's got mad cleansing skills. Will it be enough though? My staff, my building?" She turns her head and sees Karmen now. Blinking, "Hi."

Catching the pieces, Killi oh's. "The fomori? Did you get tainted?" Shit. Tugging the hem of the sweatshirt down, she folds her arms under her chest and watches, listening.

Freya wanders back over to her dead bunny and horks a little. THAT is a nice sound. Leif's punched and he makes a little sad face at Heidi and very very very very very carefully sets her on her feet, still keeping a hand on her to make sure she's steady before he lets her go. "My pleasure," he tells Heidi, then gives Zoe a nod. "I think we're alright. Taika gave us a bath."

Maybe not a punch. Maybe a tap, but DRAMA! WOUNDED! Leif will never be the same

Karmen settles down on the grass, and crosses her legs, so she can watch Freya's antics in more comfort. "Oh, sorry, yes. Introductions. I am Pahkarmenavista Khan, mostly called Karmen. Except when people call me 'Stop stealing all the cookies.' I'm Kin to the Stargazers, and my sire was Buddhi se Dekho, Crescent moon." Which likely means nothing to anybody, unless they happen to be fluent in Hindi. "I came out to see Kora, but it's always good to see anybody!" She gives a sly look at Zoe. "How's things, Spike? Is your mom recovering well?"

Taika nods to Karmen, "We should all be okay, but the stronger we grow here, the more Wyrm activity we will find and the more danger we will be drawn into. Still, I would love everyone's help.". It may be Heidi's office, but as he said yesterday, you just do things for family. He finally spits Killi and smirks, "Just in time.".

With the drama on pause, Kora looks to Karmen and opens the first ear mark. There is a standard leg, another earmark has a running spring leg, and another has a beautiful carved tree trunk with branching roots as toes. Another page has a brave for her twisted leg. "Think these would get me back up and walking? I'm more worried about my twisted leg." To Detlef, "Need help with those supplies or you good? We can load them in the truck.

Detlef Considers what Karmen says and nods, "Karmen.. cool. Detlef" he answers "Rited Spectre of Winter, Claith Rotogar, born on two legs. Son of Elder Modi, Henrich Kummerow, Rited Bathes in Blood, son of Elder Godi, Helga Kummerow, rited Vision of Northern Lights." then he will shift up to glabro to help carry th esupplis, And he grunts "I got it.. " he smiles in a feral way, as he packs the stuff carefully Detlef expands to a huge manlike-form with a straining of flesh and bone.

Moving towards Karmen, Killi tries to sweep her up in a tight hug. "Mom's doing well. She's all healed up. Now she just needs some time and therapy, like the rest of my kin." She says, letting go the usually bouncy lass. "I've been staying out here to be closer to the kinhouse and the caern. The beach house might be on hold, at least on my end, for a bit."

"So what happened? I get taint, and upset and.. but everyone is -okay-? Not hurt?"

Heidi leans in and gives Leif the biggest squeeze ever that she can manage. He's bear hugged and then she steps back. She manges to straighten herself out after that, smoothing a few wrinkles out of her work clothes and dress. And then her hair she puts a few strands back into the bun where her pins are when she turns to hear Killi's voice. "I didn't see anything suspicious at work yesterday. But apparently they infected my office, Killi. I need to make some phone calls." She introduces herself to Karmen next, "I'm Heidi Vardanyan, kin to the Fenris here."

Heidi quickly steps aside to make some frantic calls to care for her kinfolk staff within the meadery.

Leif returns Heidi's squeeze with a much more gentle one. But now he's in Work Mode and he's just ready to.. fix things. "What can I do?" he asks, turning actually in a full circle to see if there IS anything

"I really need more study, I am not so good at following all the terms yet." Karmen sits up and looks over the marked pages with Kora. "First one, definitely. And we can do the second easily, though I am working on a pneumatic system that is actually more efficient than the springs. The third... well. Yes, it will help, but you'll need some physiotherapy. But I can do that. I know I have a lot of strange feathers in my cap, but you can be sure, I can do the physio with you. I am training in that as part of the training for making the limbs. It's a holistic approach." THen she is swept into a hug, and returns it, while giving Heidi a thumbs up with her free hand. "Oof! Well, I'd love to talk more with your mom, when she is feeling up to it. And don't worry about the house. It'll take time to find one and do it up, so we've got plenty of time for you to do your thing."

Detlef Changes in a moment of crunching and shifting of flesh and bones, settling at a human form. Detlef shifts back down to normal form once the truckis loaded.. and jumps up into the back of the truck himself. He gives an open smile to everyone.

Heidi finishes up on the phone calling a few workers at the office and then Sven at corporate. "They'll be there shortly and on their way." She's already heading to the truck where Det is loading. "Theron and I can't go with you." She wishes they could! The phone is hung up and goes into the pocket of her dress. A set of keys is offered up to whomever is going on the run. "These are for the back loading door in the back of the shop. Another set for the kitchen, my office, and the front door." Whoever takes them she says, "I'll need those back when done. And I really do hope you find the source."

Taika gives Detlef a fist bump and a word of Churr (Kiwi thanks) and climbs into the truck too. He looks to Kora who nods, "Yeah yeah go do what you have to do. I'm just going to be sitting here twiddling my thumbs and dreaming about my new legs.". She ticks, "What do I need to do to get dick round here.". Pop. She blinks and looks down. To Karmen she stage whispers, "I would appreciate the physical therapy help.".

Killigrew breaks away to go grab her duffle from Aldric's cabin. The heavy one. Full of weapons. Hefting it towards the truck, she struggles to get it up and into the back, then crawls in after it, putting her socks and heavy boots on.

Leif will take the keys if no one else does. He tucks them into a pocket. The one on the left, on the top. "Freya, you stay here wtih Heidi." He turns toward everyone else. "Someone else needs to drive. I have a lead foot."

Karmen looks at Kora with a very wicked smile. "You know, if you want a dick, I can make one of those too..." OK, so she knows it's a tick, but she can hardly resist the gag. "Look, you all take care, everyone? I'd likely be in the way, so shall stay here. Just come back safe, whatever you get up to!"

Detlef will offer hand to help heft Zoe's bag up into the back of the truck. "You should be safe out here.. Hopefully we wont be too terribly long."

Taika stops, "Eh, let me go and drain the mongoose quickly while we wait.". He hops back down and runs into the woods, calling, "Anyone else have to take a bio break before we go? It is a long bumpy ride?".

Kora laughs to Karmen as she says she'll make her a sick and then Taika's comment makes her say, "That's what she said." Pop. Kora says, "You can wait here with me. There are always people around here so it's - eh it's boring, but there's internet so we can watch Netflix?"

"Any time in your company is well spent!" Karmen beams at Kora. "And sure, we have Netflix, but what about conversation? We got to get to know one another better. I bet you can tell me a load of stories, and I've got a fair few for you. And you can tell me all the embarrassing things your bro did, because that's what sisters do, right?"

Killigrew gets settled in, leaning back against the cab of the truck, opening the duffle to reveal two pistols, a rifle, a taser, pepperspray, trinkets and talens. Double checking magazines, she hums to herself, then zips the bag shut. "I have plenty of extra weapons if some are needed."

Taika is still going. He shakes twice (everyone knows that rule) and heads back to the cabin to wash his hands. Hygiene combats the Wyrm. Kora laughs, "I am a simple girl with zero storie- Taika heads inside -I'll tell you everything!"

Karmen grins wickedly. "This is going to be fun!"

"Yeah?" He looks around as all the alerts start to go off. He's phone free, however. "What's up?"

Ulf comes out of Heidi's cabin holding his phone, asking, "Anyone else getting some Amber alert about a blackout in the city? That's pretty weird, right? I wonder what's going... oh!" He stops when he's right in front of Heidi, giving her a grin and saying, "Yeah, did you see this, too? It is odd, yes?"

Detlef isnt a phone bearer either, and looks over, from the back of the truck where he is making sure the needed things are packed away safely "Go ahead and change then heidi.. we will get things ready out here.. "

Killigrew pulls her phone out and frowns. "Power's out across the city." She says, tucking the device away and putting it on vibrate for now.

"This could get bad quick." Theron points out, "They may be emboldened by the black out. But it also gives us some cover of darkness in a fight." the kinfolk warrior points out.

Heidi pauses to turn and tell Leif, but then Ulf is walking right at her. They both pause and she looks at the Godi. "We have a problem." She looks rather serious. "Leif discovered Theron and I were infected with taint. It's fixed now, but then Taika got a call from my boss, that my staff at the Brewery are all infected too. There's kin passed out on the floor and those not too sick to pass out are puking in buckets, and in the bathroom. All other staff not at work were just instructed to meet us there. But now with the power out, no traffic lights, and cars aren't supposed to be on the road?' She looks worried. "Could the Fomori have done this? Are they making a move? What the fuck, Ulf. What are we going to do?!"

Katja has missed all the hub-bub. After a liesurely morning work-out and practice, she turns off her phone and grabs her trail bike, launching into the forest. After a brisk ride, she pedals her way down into the valley, standing in the saddle to absorb the shocks of her descent.

"Well, the first thing we are going to be doing is 'not panicking,'" Ulf replies to Heidi, holding up a calming hand before putting it on her shoulder. "We can be taking them to the Kinfolk House and letting them wash off this Taint, or cleansing them ourselves if this is too serious. And we will be cleansing the tasting room, and then figuring out how it was poisoned and by whom, and following that back to the source. We will be organized and meticulous, not scattered and upset, yes?"

Leif doesn't look like he's panicking. No technology? Good. He wanders over to take up a position next to Ulf. "We've all been cleansed. Sorry I manhandled your lady, though." He shrugs one shoulder and then takes a breath. "Someone who isn't going grab Freya, though."

"I like that response." Theron says of Ulf, "Measured and tactical. Hopefully ending with cold steel in a fomori and everything cleansed properly." he grunts approval

Detlef nods in agreement with Ulf, "We need to tend to the taint we know about, and make sure all of them are safe.. If we have to deal with anything else in the process.. we deal with it." he agrees.

Killigrew is already loaded up in the back of the truck, her big duffle bag of weapons already loaded up and between her feet.

Heidi feels the Godi's reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I'm not in a panic." Surrrre, she's not in a panic. Only a moderate one. She breathes out slowly even though she is a passionate, young woman that likes to leap before looking in order to solve everyones problems. "This is why I asked for your advice."

The swedish kinfolk glances back to Leif, 'His lady? I miss a rumor or two?' Eh, she gives a wink back at Ulf, "Clearly no one knows about your bro-date with Taika this week. Man jousting, feathers, toilet plungers, and now a movie. I'll just go change quick. Get my gear."

Katja coasts to a stop, making judicious use of her brakes. She drops her kickstand, stepping off and removing her helmet. "Happy Saturday," she declares, insensate of the tense atmosphere around the area.

Detlef looks over at the new arrival and gives a smile "hey.. Hows it going.. Exciting day isnt it."

"My father says panic makes more trouble than problems," Ulf replies to Theron with a nod and a shrug, easygoing as always. He sticks his phone in his pocket, then gives Leif a confused look, asking, "You manhandled my...? Oh. I'm... sure you had a good reason?" He gives Heidi a 'What is he talking about?" look and then shakes it off.

"But yes, Theron, this plan -- or pseudo-plan, I suppose -- should end with dead fomori, if they are the culprits. We have reason to believe some of them are hiding out in a closed Pizza Hut which is planning on reopening soon; I am not saying this is related, but only that I know them to be there." He shoots Detlef finger-guns of agreement, then focuses on Heidi again. He listens to what she's saying, nodding casually, then just leans in and kisses her full on the mouth in front of everyone. He doesn't make a huge scene about it, but he does /do/ it, after which he points to her and looks to the crowd before saying, "This one's mine."

A sharp whistle comes from the back of the truck, Zoe hollering, "Congrats, Ulf and Heidi." She might have a bunch of guns between her feet, but she'll cheer for hookups, yo.

Leif shrugs at Heidi. "You were playing with his python." Good enough for him, really. "I smelled the gross and grabbed her arm and sniffed her head and almost threw up, but then she almost fell over, so I picked her up until she was okay." See? Manhandled. He's ready for action. Also, "See? Called it."

Pizza Hut. Check. Plan in place. Check. Heidi was taking that step to her cabin to go change but then she's caught by Ulf in an unexpected kiss! A rather public one, and she grips her scarf and her cell phone in one hand as if she just might clobber him upside the head. Instinctively, that tight fist kinda melts after a second, as just maybe the Godi is a rather good kisser.

Heidi pulls back when he does and she stares at him a second as if breathless. He's already saying something to the group and she's not really paying attention because she's busy fanning herself with that scarf, as if suddenly really hot. Zoe whistles. Check. Heard that. The Swedish kin blinks at Ulf, "Did you just... I'm telling your Grandma Clara on you. You can't do it that way." She gasps, "I need air..." she looks to the group again, Ulf, then her cabin. She goes inside her cabin, for air! And changes because there's stuff to kill and clean. One last head check out the door peering at Leif, "I didn't play with his PYTHON!" Boys. Seriously. Boys.

Katja nods to Detlef, setting her helmet on the saddle of her back. "Super exciting," she confirms, again without having any idea what specifically is making it exciting, she just sees no difference between positivity and agreeability. She averts her eyes from the PDA between Ulf and Heidi, grinning self-consciously, "Hoo boy."

Theron arches a brow, looking between Ulf and Heidi, "Playing with his python?" he mouths amused perhaps. As Heidi seeks to escape to her cabin, he looks to the others and just shrugs his shoulders.

Detlef chuckles "We have some issues going on." he looks to Heidi and Ulf, "Did we want more help.. if sheis interested?" he indicates Katja "if your interested that is."

"I think I /just did it/ that way," Ulf replies to Heidi with a sweet smile, watching her go to her cabin before nodding back to Leif. "Right, so this doesn't affect the plan any. But thank you for the catcals; yes, I am very pretty. That played a role, for certain."

He walks over to his motorcycle, grabbing his helmet, and asks, "So we are heading to the tasting room, yes? It seems the smartest place to start, but if someone who did /not/ hear this story just thirty seconds ago has another suggestion, I am listening. And I am not turning down help."

"I have no plans. But you've got my abilities and skills. Even if it's just sit and hold the door." Hodor. Zodor! The cheeky Fury kin is SURE to get two butt whoopings, now. One form Einar for making him introduce himself all the time, and one from Heidi.

Leif snorts. That's all. He shrugs at Heidi. "Call it like I see it," he informs her, then turns to get back to business. "Wall, meatshield, hit hard, big claws. That's me. If we need to get to town, I suggest that anyone who has four legs, do so until we just can't get any closer and then walk in."

Heidi comes back outside rather quickly in some jeans and a faded tee. She is also toting a rifle she slings over one shoulder and another backpack she tosses in the bed of the truck. One big orange tacklebox gets loaded too. "First-aid kit for anything unexpected. We don't know what we're getting into yet." She taps on the side of the truck, "We ready?" Yeah Zo-Zoe gets a glance from the Heidster and she just shakes her head, kinda smirking. Truck or Motorcycle choices abound for her.

Heidi looks at Ulf on the bike and she lifts her chin, "I guess I know where I belong now, eh?" Hands free, she quickly binds back her hair in a loose ponytail as she walks to the Godi. "Once I learn to drive this bike better. You are absolutely riding bitch." She climbs on the back.

Detlef gives a nods to Katja and motions "hope in the back here" he looks then to Lief "I thought we were going to drive the truck here out, for speed."

Katja GRADUALLY becomes aware that events are in the offing. Perhaps it's Detlef clarifying that 'we have issues'. "Ohh. Sure, I'll come, if you need help." She glances warily at Heidi and the rifle, adding, "I'll try not to throw up this time." She heads for the pickup, smiling and waving at Zoe as she climbs up into it as well.

"Not that I mind riding while you drive, but we are getting you your own bike, too," Ulf replies as Heidi saddles up behind him, kicking over the bike's engine and NOT doing that annoying thing where he revs it up a bunch to try and make his penis seem huge or whatever. "All drivers know where the tasting room is, yes?" he checks, making sure nobody's going to get lost in the city during a blackout. "Then that is where we are meeting, to start."

Theron frowns about something. The kinfolk looks around to the others and then he heads over towards his jeep. "Huh." he is all he says before adding, "I'll drive in."
