The lighting inside the tank turns a deep, blood red as the rage filled war machine speeds into the storm, disco-lit inside when there's flashes from lightning elementals up above that are so large they must be Incarna. Their randomly stabbing bolts leave deep craters in the ground, though they don't seem to be trying to hit anyone, just scare the shit out of them and make them squirm. They're just playing with the little ants, that's all, and if someone just happens to run into a giant fork of electricity or crash into a crater, that's their own damned fault.
Being inside doesn't cut down the noise outside very much, the wind is still wicked loud and there's the metallic static of the sand hitting the tank's body, and drifting in from the missing hatch. The strains of heavy metal music still drift from up ahead as the DO group draws nearer, and starts to get very, very uncomfortably close to one of the enormous tornadoes out there. A few of the smaller, weaker spirits are picked up as though they weigh nothing, and are torn apart in a ghastly display of flames, lightning, and devoured Gnosis. Those spirits wont be re-materializing.
Theron isnt driving, he leaves that for someone more apt to do so, but he stands at the ready trying to watch what is going on around them, "I dont think we want to linger longer than necessary...full steam ahead?" he asks.
Inside a tank. A WW2 era tank. That was not ever on any of Hrafns bucket lists, if Corax now have bucket lists. They are small, noisy and not built to accomodate ravens. There are no perches! What is worse is that there are other people in here, making space a premium. So, the raven does what he can to find a spot where he will not end up being sat upon by some really big brutish Garou. While the tank hurtles forward, there might be a tiny voice asking, "Are we there yet?"
Sten looks over the loading mechanism and the gun trying to see if he could figure out how to load the thing... firing a canon would be a cool thing to do and probably would suprise the people ahead of them if they managed a shot.
Micah slips into the tank behind Sten, dropping the hatch and scooting to whatever space is available. "Can you see up there Ryn? Is there a periscope in this thing?" He goes searching for anything he can use as a view port. Along the way he scoops up Hrafn, "Come on, let's find you a place where you can be Ryn's eyes."
Aldric is as useful as teats on a bull right now, concentrating on hanging on and holding himself together while they race after the other pack. It's clear he does *not* care for being inside the steel can, there's a lot of eye closing involved.
Did someone say, 'Fullsteam Ahead?' Aaryn nods. "Roger That," Aaryn says, to no one in particular. She's just always wanted to say that. She plops down in the driver's seat and gives a kick at the 'steel' can (spirit) "Let's get a move on, you sonofabitch" she says, with all the rage her smurfette self can muster.
Sensing his apha, Theron glances over and offers some reassurance, "Im with you, Id rather be in the melee than in a tank...we will be out of this soon Im sure." he tries and then watches Aaryn drive.
Through the gloom of the sand storm, crinosed Garou can be seen making leaps from one vehicle to the next in an effort to get to the big machine in the lead, but their progress is slowed by a near constant stream of random battles with spirits. The spirits don't care WHO they're attacking, really, just as long as they do their damndest to keep anyone from making it through the storm, it seems. Waaaaaaay up in the front is a tiny little dude stuck to the front of this vehicle with just one arm free, flailing in his own efforts to get free, and right above his position on the grill is the mysterious Other Get Pack's galliard, just pumping a guitar fetish for all its worth as amazing Norwegian heavy metal through a small mountain of fetish "speakers". Giving up all his actions through this entire thing, he's effectively bard-buffing his group with some Hootenany.
To this, Hrafn suddenly says .. as he is scooped up by Micah .. "I saw this movie once. Through the window of some human. It was a war movie and.. it was good! And they played this song as they rode into battle! And I think it would be highly appropriate in this moment and it will take my mind of being inside!" and he desperately wants to take his mind of being inside and carried around by a Garou. So.. as the tank hurtles forward, the raven suddenly begins to emit the RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES song! In perfect detail, as it was heard from that one movie!
Sten looks to Micah "Get in the gunners seat, see if you can figure it out and if you can fire at them fuckers" he motions for micah to get into the seat before him. Grabbing a round and shoving it into the pipe before closing it. Looked like how it would be doing. Though making damn sure it was closed properly.
Micah does as ordered by his Beta. On the way he sits the now, very loud, Hrafn down in front of a view port where he can give Aaryn extra eyes. "Tell us what you see Hrafn." He plops down in one of the seat, grabs the gun and hopes that this thing works anything like a rifle. "I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than two meters." He takes aim at anything harassing a garou and fires.
Aaryn leans into the steering mechanism and, maybe it's the birdbox inspiring her, or maybe it's just that, damnit! The DO Pack saved her life and now it's time to get their backs! She pushes the tank for all she's got.
Micah swings the gun back and forth, aiming for the biggest mass of enemy targets he can find, muttering to himself, "Use the Force, Luke..." and then presses the fire button. "Holy shit," he calls to the others, "These guns use the Force, I mean Gnosis. Anyone that has gnosis and can fire a gun, grab one. Everyone else keep us loaded. Make every shot count."
The kinfolk may have gnosis but Theron just nods, "I can help reload!" he calls out, trying to make himself as useful as possible, but its all outside his wheel house.
Frostbite hasn't seen the Devil's Own in crinos I think, so it's probably fair to say it's hard to tell who's who out there, and besides which everyone keeps getting their fur and skin ripped off so you cant just say 'oh look, Fianna pelt'. Not to mention the red tint everything has and the inability to just look at something because glancing away from the road or the battle too long is a good way to get stapped. It's also fair to say that the tank has finally made it to a safe point where people could exit and go on a rampage, if they so desired. Everyone's gonna need a lot of Bactine after this though.
Oh, Hrafn's got the Wagner DOWN. It goes on repeat, proud and strong in the way Wagner intended it to be. Ride of the Fricken Valkyries! The raven then tilts his head to the side, "I see eyes that need plucking!" he yells through trying to keep the music up as well, "Let me out! I have to FLY!" he calls. Well, he may be a Corax. Normally, timid creatures. But he -is- on a planet of War. With a bunch of Get of Fenris. It is difficult for the little bird to be a normal Corax in such an instance!
Sten loads up another round if it was needed looking to the corax wanting to get out. "Has the storm cleared?" looking to see if he could see out himself.
Micah seems to be finally getting the hang of this thing. He swings the gun around again, taking a more solid aim and trying to clear an enemy away from the garou holding the giant dick. That HAS to be Jes, surely. He fires and shouts to Ryn, "If we get close enough you may be able to ram a few of them from behind. At least give them something else to attack."
Aldric growls in frustration and bursts up from his seat, shifting as he does so. He explodes out of the roof of the tank in his Hispo form and scrambling up to the top tank to get his Mad Max on. He attacks and then...
Aaryn narrows her eyes and verges closer to the raging vehicles ahead. She hears her comrade's plea and reaches over, nodding to Hrafn. "Pluck one for me," she says and lofts him up, skyward, after Aldric. As soon as her attention is fully returned to the task at hand, she guns it. There's a lotta power in a weapon this big, and she's gonna make it count. She looks up at the crinos with the large dick and, even though she sees no Nat Sherman, she's sure it's there. "Hang on, Jes," she says, adding, "and Branton. /Ryn's/ got /your/ back this time!"
To one side is a tornado large enough to swallow a town whole, to the other side lightning is stabbing the ground like it owes it money.
Behind are war machines covered in spirits hurling things at the tank, but Aaryn's got its steering on lock and they just cant quite hit.
Ahead, the main vehicle, surrounded by smaller ones and crawling with violent spirits engaged in battle, driving helbent through a swirling forest of cyclones.
Micah's blast is amazing, and it blows the shit out of a machine that's basically just a large ball of spikes and cutty thingies. It detonates into a fireball that's swept up by a tornado, however a single survivor of that explosion manages to catch on to the main vehicle. Badly wounded and with a massive hole in it, it's clearly half dead. Before it can expire though, it throws what's left of itself into a suicide attack. Other war spirits notice this and all fighting, literally ALL fighting that is not in immediate hand-to-hand with a garou, stops as the spirits of war shout to witness the glorious death of one of their own. They point, scream and howl their encouragement as the wounded spirit straightens up as best it can, screams "WITNESS MEEEEEEEE!" and throws himself at the speeding tank to explode on... What amounts to its windshield, I guess you'd say.
The explosion cracks the windows of the view ports and leaves a smoking hole in the front end, the tank itself roars with pain, but it ain't stopped yet! The essence of that 'dead' spirit is whipped away in the wind to be rematerialized somewhere else, at some other time.
And then out goes Aldric like a boss, out into the storm to be flayed by sand and fueled by rage, and possibly enter into a slap fight with a spirit outside. As for the Raven, the hatch's open if he wants out there!
A blink as Aldric rages and goes to fight on his terms. "He shouldnt be out there alone!" he calls out, "I got his back!" he calls out as he grabs his sword and scrambles out to at least ensurse that Aldric isnt on his own.
Its clear, though. He has to do something to try to slow down the enemy. He has to save the man with the Helios Stamp on his Forehead! Or, at least, do something.
And that speed. That grace! Higher up he goes until he sees his chance. His wings fold up and down he goes and, as he does, he screams out, "WITNESS THIS, YOU UGLY PIECE OF..." and the rest is a series of insults KRA'd out in the Corax tongue. A huge mess of black feathers and muscle slams into the general head area of the Battle Galliard. Beak goes first, gouging a huge hole into the cheek of the Warform. Claws of his hands and feet dig into the creature, ripping into its flesh before he then lets go and just spreads his wings, allowing the wind to take him like a parachute, to hopefully carry him to safety.
Sten gets out of the tank and charges after Aldric shifting into Hispos as he runs, howling at the top of his lungs as he goes after the first guy that seems to be opposing DO or just in general not be on his side, trying to use Branton (since he does not shift) as a general guideline to what is foe. Deciding to chomp down on a bike following them pretty much ripping it in half, starting to tear through what opposition he could find. Sten was getting into the whole mars thing.
Hunts the Shadow shouts as he heads to the hatch, "Keep 'er steady sis, I'm going up." Then to himself, "I hope I don't regret this." Thinking back to a recent pakour class he was in he bounds up to the hatch, trying to make allowances for his poor upper body strength. He bursts out into the air all rage and anger from shifting into his Crinos form, but unfortunately, the gusting wind turns him into a big hairy parasail and he flies off the side of the tank to his death.
Except that Aldric is a badass motherfucker and isn't going to his packmate die on Mars so ignominiously. He whips around in his Hispo form and grabs Micah by the arm with his jaws and slams him back against the tank. He can't afford to be gentle, Hispo isn't made for catching people but it's better than the unknown alternative.
Aaryn jams her foot on the gas pedal spirit, making it squeal uncle! She narrows her eyes and leans forward, jutting her tongue out the side of her mouth. "Hang on, party puppies!" She yells up to Micah, "Mamma's gonna get you into firing range!"
Aldric's helpful save narrowly avoids Micah meeting the same fate, although the lightning incarna above blast the nearby ground in threat. You get back up there young man, don't make me fry you! ...Is sorta what that blast was all about.
Theron, meanwhile, has his hands full with some asshole with a penchant for trying to fling sharp shards of ice at the kinfolk, and Micah is bleeding but totally not quite dead yet! And then Aaryn, of course, her hellbent for leather attitude is really endearing this tank to her. ~We're finally going to make it!~ Yeah, the tank can talk, it's just generally not a chatty sort. But it is a spirit, and spirits have voices, so. There ya go.
Alright, so now where are we...?
The tank speeds up alongside the main vehicle, splattered lightly on its cracked windshield by blood drops flying out of the face of the heavy metal Galliard pumping sweet tunes into the storm. Two crinosed garou are inside the cab, Branton's strapped to the grill and working on getting a second arm free while desperately blasting things flying at him from the storm swept road. One of the Garou in the cab is just now starting to lean out of a window with a Bigass Gun, and eyes set on the... Wait, where'd that damned bird go? He was gonna shoot that thing. :(
On the tank, Theron is fighting valiantly at his packs side. His enchanted longsword in hand he swings it with precision, his attacks aggressive but controlled, practiced as it tears through the war spirit made of ice shards, on impact it cries out, a suicide death curse explosing shards of ice at the kinfolk attacker, the armor of the kinfolk absorbing the dagger-like ice.
He never left the area of the battle-wagon with the enemy Galliard and poor Branton. He just parasailed up a bit, veered sharply to the other side of the vehicle to then suddenly dive head long forward for speed. Before he hits the ground, he levels out. Vectoring to the side, he zooms in close in front of the vehicle, "Fight, Helios Stamped Man! FIGHT!" he calls out, to which his powers of Open Seal are directed at Brantons bonds. The spirit within them is shaken, screamed at and chased away to free the Kinfolk.
It happens quickly and the large Warformed raven zooms in view on the other side of the car. Sadly, its in the view of the Crinos with the Big Ass Gun. He'll have a hard time shooting the bird-man though, for his pattern of flying is quite weaving and bobbing!
Hunts the Shadow pulls himself up to his feet, willing his bow and quiver to form in his hands. Fueled by pain and embarrassment he gets to his feet as best he can and prepares to unload arrows at the maniac guitar galliard. TO himself he whispers, "Hildisvini be with me," and begins firing. The first shot goes wide but the other two strike true, but not with enough force to do more than decorate the creature up to look like a porcupine. But hey! At least he didn't hit Branton, so there's that.
Ironsides makes sure Micah is stable before he turns to engage the nearest foe by chewing on him/her profusely. There is much rending of flesh and fur, blood spraying out everywhere. Then they have the audacity to explode on him, burning off some fur and skin and generally souring his disposition further.
Aaryn's eyes narrow as she sees a war spirit to the left that's just too tempting to pass up. She swerves to the left just a little - Sorry, boys, Ryn's gotta get a little gore, too! - And catches their heel with the chain wheel of the tank, pulling them against the mighty Tank. As the chain rolls, a leg rips off and is chewed up with grisly emphasis. Aaryn reaches out and pats the tank on the console. "Good Boy!" she encourages.
Sten hurls himself onto a speeding vehicle, jams his entire front half in, and bits of spirit start flying out windows and holes in the thing. The back end of the garou hangs out in the storm, getting his fuzzy butt sandblasted into smoothness.
Aldric gets singed and burned a little, but he's fine!
Micah, meanwhile, plugs two arrows into the REALLY rather fucked up Galliard who totally must have drawn the short stick out of his pack or this wouldn't be happening. His music falters with the combined damage he's taken, and the sweet strains or Norwegian metal end, stopping the sound track and just leaving Ride of the Valkyries and the howling of the wind and spirits.
Meanwhile, Branton has been freed, the injured bald kin with his clothes in shredded tatters rips a piece of the grill off and starts getting his way up onto the hood. The passenger Garou starts to swing his Bigass Gun in Branton's direction, but the driver apparently stalls that notion, and the passenger instead leans his gun across the driver in an attempt to shoot Micah.
And Aaryn, meanwhile, pisses so many people off all at once, but makes friends with a tank. ~That was fun!~
Up ahead, there IS a break in the storm, that light at the end of the tunnel, clear skies if only you can survive to get TO them. A massive opening in the side of the volcano with barely discernable carvings and decor on the far side of a large, stone bridge.
And the Devil's Own pack is, of course, still fighting. One of the wheels of the main vehicle explodes and the whole thing tips wonky, slowing down.
He looks terrible, though. His feathers are almost no longer black, but ripped and shredded and grey in colouring.
The Berserker warrior growls an all too human growl, its no wonder the spirits were so fooled when he was born and mistoke him for garou to be. An event never to materialize. Instead trained in the berserker way he spins away from the last foe just in time to slash across another war spirit in devestating fashion. This time it survives. A true foe. A true test.
Hunts the Shadow steps over the open hatch, shouting down to Aaryn, "Head for the opening in the side of the volcano!" Then pulls his bow up again to fire two shots into the window of the battlemachine. Thhe first hits the driver square in the head... unfortunately the driver is wearing a horned viking style war helmet, preventing any damage and mocking the frustrated Get of Fenris in the process. The second shot ricochets off the side of the heavily plated door.
