Wyrm Onboarding
Welcome to the Wyrm Sphere!
Welcome to the dark side! Yes, we have cookies! Made from real girl scouts even.
This wiki page was created specifically to help ease the transition into the Wyrm sphere on City of Hope Mush, as this is a long running game that has been translated from the few books available for Wyrm into a living, breathing, ongoing saga where the Bad Guys get to come out and play! You may have played on other MU*’s, LARP’s, or Table Top, but those are different in some practices than what we have developed here since 2012.
If you have any questions not answered on this page, or about information given, here are some people that are good to speak with:

Getting Started
Congratulations! You're PC is approved. But now what? You should start here:
- Join Channels: But which ones should you join? Here is a short list!
- Wyrm - All who serve the Wyrm
- BSD - BSD shifters and kinfolk
- Pentex - For employees of Pentex companies
- KingBreweries - For employees of King Breweries and Distilleries
- Magadon - For employees of Magadon Pharmaceuticals
The best way to see what you can join is with the command +comlist as it will populate all the channels you can possibly join at the moment. You can also see @clist to see every channel, but that is spammy.
How do you join a channel? The command is:
- addcom bsd=BSD
Keep in mind that whatever you put before the equal sign will be your alias for that channel. It is case sensitive. Similarly, to join a channel, you must use the correct spelling and case, as it is also case sensitive. More questions? Check out help addcom
- Bulletin Boards are also something to read over. +bbread will should you all the ones you have access to read. Some boards have years worth of posts. To quickly catchup, use +bbcatchup all and it will mark them all as read.
- Meet the Leaders! Depending on what type of PC you made will depend on who you want to meet first. Generally, chatting on one of the channels will point you in the right direction. These channels are OOC channels, not IC channels. The following is a short list of currently active PCs to meet with:
- Hive: Hive of Shattered Souls - Kurt, Eris
- Pentex:
Shifting
Garou and other types of shifters can take other forms. Garou have Homid, Lupus, Hispo, Glabro, and Crinos. When you do shift to one of these, the +shift command will adjust your +sheet because ICly you have changed. Some things work better than others (especially considering some forms you lack thumbs!). With that, normally, you would expect your description to change, as well as your name to become your Rite Name. You can check out +help +shift for more details, and check out the wiki: Shift. Here is my recommendations:
IMPORTANT - Be sure to use: @lock me=me, @lock/use me=me, and @lock/enter me=me&!me FIRST
A. Use '+desc' for all descriptions. This is the multi-desc'er that allows you to save your descriptions all on an object it creates for you. It makes it very simple for the '+shift' code to be called to do this. '+help +desc' will give you more details. For this primer, here is how to do that, if you have not used it before:
- +id/init
- +desc/quick hispo=A large dire wolf with silvery white fur, and sharp teeth.
- Note: The example description is just an example. If you go for a more intricate description, and want line breaks, or indenting (%r or %t), then be sure you put in 2 (%%r) so it will function when you actually the way you intended when you use it.
B. Here is the example of the code I set for hispo:
- &data_ashift_garou-hispo me=+desc/load hispo;@emit With a crunch of bones and stretch of muscles, fur flies and wind swirls. %n becomes a dire wolf;@name me=Starchaser;@alias me=Johanna
- As you can see - there is multiple parts to this code. When you would use: '+shift garou-hispo', then your description will change to what you set with '+desc' for hispo. The '@emit' portion alerts those around you that you have shifted - I use the '%n' because maybe I am shifting from Crinos to Hispo - and that would keep me the same rite name. If I am shifting from homid - then it will use that name that is set. Finally, you have that '@name' portion that does the change to the Rite Name, unless you choose another descriptive word. You can have these in any order you wish, just keep to having a semicolon ';' between each section - be aware that if you are setting an alias to save your Homid Name, it needs to go AFTER you set your form name with @name. You may also want to just have a short alias instead that you always keep.
- You can then repeat this process with each shifter form - customize it for each one.
C. Remember to shift back to Homid before you log off (so you can log back in!) - or walk around town breaking the Veil (yes, even BSDs mind the Veil).
Renown
Shifters only: This is how to rank up, and is a reflection of the deeds we do - both good and bad. You receive it in the form of Temp Power, Infamy, or Cunning. Once you have 10 Temp of one of those, then you earn 1 'Permanent' of that type. Check out on game: +help +renown, +help +renownreq, +bboard 6, as well as Renown
Renown Requests: There are two ways to get renown. Either you are nommed by someone (usually the ST of whatever scene you were in), or you put it in for yourself.
A. +renownreq: This is for normally for nomming yourself. Typically this will be for when you learn something new like a new Rite, or for monthly guarding and chores. Yes, it is handwaved that every member of the Sept can earn 1 Honor for Guarding the Caern, and more 1 Honor for Chores. This is available ONCE a month, and if you forget one month, you can put in for the past TWO months. After that, you lose out. I recommend that every month, on the first, you submit it. Make it a habit. It may not seem like you get a lot, but consider how it adds up. There is nothing you really have to even do RPwise, and you get 2 Temp Honor a month. Over a year - that is 24 Temp Honor, or 2 Perm Honor, and almost halfway to the next one.
- For example: +renownreq Infamy=Ramon performed Monthly Chores and Guarding the Hive for the month of June 2023: 2 Infamy
B. +renown/nom: This gets more complicated. Use this page to help you with it: Renown/Guide
- IF this is part of a PRP (player run plot), usually the ST will submit this for the group. You do /NOT/ want each person to put in their own request as that takes much more time for staff, and things may be missed or confused. Best thing to do is to check with the ST that it is being done. If they are unsure, come find one of the Elders or myself or staff to help.
- Sometimes, someone does something for you, or around you that deserves renown. Whether that is teaching, or getting out of a sticky RP situation ICly. This is also the time to use this command. When you are new, and learning Rites especially, why not have another PC teach it to you? You can RP it out, but it is not required. Once you have your +xpreq approved for the new Rite, you can submit yourself for (1 Wisdom) for learning the Rite. Put in there that someone taught it to you. Then put in the +renown/nom for the PC that taught it to you - which can be (1 Honor, 3 Wisdom). Simple, and helpful for both of you in what would have been just another xpspend.
Getting into RP
There are several ways to get started with RP in the Gaian sphere. From joining our OOC channels, finding hangouts, meeting Elders, to making your board post to introduce yourself. It really depends some on what your character is (Shifter, Kinfolk), and what they do. Here are some of the basics below.
Channels
Channels can only be joined if your +sheet passes the locks to allow you. If you believe you should be on a channel and the code it isn’t letting you, +request to staff for assistance. See the list above for more details.
Joining these OOC channels will give you a direct line to many of the more active RPers around, as well as a chance to ask where to go meet some people.
Hangouts
Wyrm Hangouts will be someplace that is known in the area. Going to the Hive, or word of mouth even from NPCs will tell you that you are safe to go these places.
+hangouts will give you a listing on game of which ones you can see currently have players within it, and gives a count and short description.
+hideouts/all will show you a list of all the Wyrm only locations that your PC would get told exist by NPCs. You will see if anyone is currently in one of them when you check +hangouts and those with an * next to the # at the end of the line are a hideout.
For those newer to the game, please check +help meet implications, as the listed hangouts are for Wyrm's only. You may not know if another PC is able to pass the locks into one of these locations, so be sure to ask before you use +meet to bring someone in.
Theme
Wyrm is filled with dark stories, dark themes. There is going to be risky situations, and a lot of not politically correct actions and words used. This is Team Bad Evil (tm). There is no Wyrm Lite or being the Hero. You are a VILLIAN.
How dark, depraved, insane your stories will get? That is up to you. No one is forced to have to RP out on camera topics that make your personally uncomfortable. But if too many topics are something you cannot handle, then you may want to reconsider playing in Wyrm. Some of those topics may include, but not limited to: Rape, Murder, Torture, Incest, Mutilation, Kinky Sex, Domination, etc. Stories ran with these topics should have all participants agree to it OOCly before the RP happens, and it should be kept contained to the scene. See +policy ERP, +policy creepy, +policy antagonist, and +policy PRPs - in particular Containment.
A word on Sex. There is some misconceptions that sex/ERP/TS is the only thing to do in the Wyrm sphere. That cannot be further from the truth. It is something that can and will be a part of it, sometimes used as a tool. But that should not be the only story to be told here. That should not be the only reason you play on City of Hope.
More questions?
The Garou page has a lot of additional pages attached to it that may explain a lot to help you out. There is information on magical item creation, rituals, the litany, gifts, renown charts, and much much more!
Is something missing? Just let one of the people listed at the top of the page know, and we will look into it!
