Community Garden - Underground Tech Haven

A stairwell located behind the counters in the building shell above leads down into a subterranean sea of tech and creation hidden under the vibrant gardens of the old factory property. The stairs let out into a large, wide open space filled with shelves, cabinets and cubbies stocked with any number of tools and supplies for electronic and mechanical work, with several large and well lit work benches set against the walls for anyone to use. Energy efficient bulbs cast a pleasant glow over faux hardwood floors and white painted walls dotted with living planters that spill bursts of greenery amidst the steel and plastics. The hum of computers and electricity sneak through the ozone scented air alongside whiffs of flower scent and the occasional chirp of a cricket that's found its way down here, and there are vents above 3D printers and autolathes to send fumes outside. A few small, fairly spartan rooms set off to one side are equipped with beds for short term stays or just for napping between projects. There's also a large closet housing cleaning products and solar batteries.

Through a set of doors is another large room, it's floor sunken down by several steps to create a very high ceilinged space fit for Crinos forms. This entire area has been given extra sound proofing beyond the natural earth surrounding it, protecting even the workshop from its noise levels, and visa versa. The floors here are stone and scored with scratches, with stone columns supporting the ceiling above. The walls and ceiling are covered in what amounts to massive plasma television screens creating a false view of lush forest, green fields and sky, or whatever is selected from the central controls. Elaborate and experimental sound and lighting systems have been installed throughout and a few small tables and chairs are placed near the walls. The room can be used for experimentation, bot battles, target practice, or even as an unusually high tech space for reveling or meditating city Garou. It has been known to break out some comfy chairs, controllers, and putting up a table with snacks and drinks so those who chose can play video games on those massive screens, including 'Untitled Goose Game'.

Evan got a ride over from Jack and shown the way in but Jack had to stop and take care of something so Evan comes down the stairs by himself with his guitar in a soft travel case hanging from him on a strap. Looking around wide eyed he says "Oh my god. This is so COOL."

Brooke has been working away in the Tech Haven, like she does most days. A new shipment of phones came in, and she is carefully taking each out of the box, opening it up, and hooking them up to the computer. As she finishing typing commands into the computer, she turns her head and sees Evan. "Hey there. I do not think we've met yet." Looking him over a bit, she grins, "Are you the new Galliard?"

Evan nods and does a bow with a flourish, left hand to his chest and right arm out to the side "That I am Elder Spencer. I am Evan Osian Davies, Rited Collector-of-Tales, Human born Galliard of the Fianna of late from the Sept of the White Water. I'm A newly minted Cliath on my Bardic Journeyman's walk come to see what tales there are here both to collect and to forge. I have been getting settled and making some new friends and working my way through a list of local notables I should meet. And this time deep into the city to find you."

Brooke turns her whole self and stands up - all 5'4" of her and presents herself them to Evan, "I am Brooke Spencer, rited Hushed Blaze, Elder Galliard Glass Walker born on two legs, packed with Zephyr's Hand, member of the Random Interrupts, Master of the Howl for the Sept of the Enduring Spirit. Although you probably already knew at least half of that. Welcome to the Sept of the Enduring Spirit! Oh my, there are so many great tales you can learn here. I certainly have my favorites, but I'm excited for you to be learning them yourself. There is just someing so awe inspiring to hear the tales. Although some may make you want to smack either yourself or someone else upside the head in being dumbfounded by stupidity or just plain awesomeness."

Evan chuckles and nods at Brooke "I've actually heard some of them before I ever came here, and holy moley have ya all got some top shelf cautionary tales in the local chronicle. I also heard about the three Rites that are regarded as essential knowledge for everyone here and sort of nudged my cubhood training that way. I've now been a Cliath for...just over a week and feel like I'm doing alright. The first member of the sept was Elder Tiganites when she and some of her friends showed up to the Sept of the White Water. Hoo boy has that been quite the ride."

Trey has a bag over one shoulder as he enters, like always, smiling an apology. "Sorry about that," he says as he descends the stairs, "I got asked for a TPS report and a stapler, I'm not sure why." He might be joking.

Brooke cannot help but laugh at that, nearly doubling over. "Oh boy, you have /no/ idea. Until you have seen her fly off with the leg of a t-rex and cook it up in the kitchen of a Curry restaurant, you have seen or heard /nothing/." She sits back down. "Talk about an auspicious start. ANYTHING involving Iris is going to be something else, I tell you what." She just looks overall delighted. "Well, I'm glad to hear that you have started off your training so well. I'd be happy to help you with your galliard-fu now that you are here. Not too many of us, but I'm /always/ willing to advise and teach and share. I do take time at the Caern too, so if you ever want to meet there and not within the city, just let me know. Bring cheese fries from smoke, and I may just float like toucan sam." As Trey is entering, she waves. "Is it red?" The stapler of course.

In the distance, back back of the room, the sound of gears and treads on the floor can be heard.

Evan nods at Brooke and at this point just accepts that at some point Iris has cooked and eaten a t-rex. Because why not? Trey gets a chuckle and a wave before Evan adds to Brooke "She has a fuckin Space Boat and flew me and some others to Tasmania yesterday. And an angry winter spirit about knocked her for a loop with a snowball the size of a city bus. It was a sucker punch though and Irsa Theurged it with a gift and made it gtfo. Then we scarpered back to the rowboat and back to orbit. But I got to see a forest that's just endless duplicates of the same tree. Its been cloning itself naturally for like...ten thousand years. It was...quite a lot."

Trey huhs and says, "Yes, I think it was, actually." He flashes a bright kitty grin and notes, "I've only known Iris a short time but already... well, stories like her becoming a flying, flaming Crinos of death was one of the more fun memories, doing a wrestling jump onto a Spiral and basically snapping him in half." He laughs softly and adds, "I'm sorry, I know we haven't met in person before, Elder. I'm Trey Treads-on-Thin-Ice, born on four paws to the Qualmi tribe, ranked Akaa, or Truthcatcher." He dips into a low bow and adds to Evan's remarks, "That was one pissed off spirit. And the Southern Lights are beautiful this time of year, and I am seriously thinking about learning how to do better photography with my phone so we can keep them."

Brooke nods like that was totally just a normal Thursday. "Sounds like quite the adventure. I do hope you will help to tell that at a future moot?" Because who wouldn't want to hear more. There is a ding behind her, and she unplugs the phone that she had started as Evan came in, and repackages it back up and puts it away before getting out the next one in line, hooks it up and sets the command again to do whatever the system is doing to it. Turning back to them both, she nods to Trey, "It is good to meet you Treads-on-Thin-Ice. I would /love/ to hear the story of how you earned that name. It is a pleasure to meet a cat like yourself, it is rare for me to come across any fera, bred true or kin, that seems so put together as yourself." Stories - always stories.

Evan grins and shrugs at Brooke "That's basically all of it, not sure if its moot worthy. I am working on a song though. Did it up from the story of my Rite of Passage. I need to rehearse it some more but its pretty much set. Just needs practice and polish. You uh...want to hear what I got so far?"

Trey smiles and says, "Oh, it's pretty straightforward, probably disappointingly so. It involved my Kuasha teaching me to ice-fish, and me shifting into lynx to try and get a fat one out from under thinner ice to impress said teacher, and... well, I wound up face-first in freezing water and I looked like a drowned kitten. Never did live it down, so I decided to embrace it as a mark of my curiosity." He grins good-naturedly, though, so it clearly doesn't bother him. "And the welcome I've had here is wonderful, more than anyplace else I've encountered." At Evan's question, the cat nods eagerly, "I'd love to hear how it's come along!" He may be more mystic than tale-teller, but clearly, he loves the stories too.

Brooke shakes her head to Evan, "Believe me, I'll tell you if something is not worthy of a moot. We used to have some smaller gatherings as well, but those have fallen by the way side. hmmm." She is thinking a bit now. "I would love to hear your song so far. I'm not as much a singer as I am a storyteller, so that would be a treat!" Giving a moment to Trey, she says to him, "Much like mine. I talked too much, and they would always tell me to hush." She turns to Evan again. "In your own time."

Evan nods at Brooke and picks a stool from one of the work counters to set himself up on and he does a quick check of the tuning on his guitar after getting it out. While doing this he explains "I'm still working on the spoken presentation part but the song should tell the important bits." And he starts to play.

Trey smiles at Brooke's assertion. "I talk about six times too much for a Bastet, but so far, people seem to like me anyway, so..." Then he finds a spot to sit as Evan brings out the guitar, and he awaits the song eagerly, a happy cat indeed; new people to meet, and new things to learn, and stories, and more on Evan's new song. At this point, Trey's in Bastet Heaven with all the things he's been able to witness in his short years, and the lynx-dude is abiding, as they say. The song... wow, the song honestly blows him away, the young Galliard's voice making his eyes widen with awe -- genuine awe. Only when Evan is done does he speak, and the first words? "Sweet Mother Nala, your voice is a treasure."

The sounds get louder, and now the mechanized voice starts saying "Bacon... Bacon... Bacon..." It gets louder and the smell begins to waft toward them.

Brooke listens to the sound and sways a bit with it. When he finishes up the song she claps. "That is so wonderful! You are a treasure! What a fantastic voice! The Sept is just going to love you." She hears the sounds and says, "Who's hungry? The answer will be yes." Because you do not say no when bacon is served.

Evan grins broadly and gives a seated bow at the reactions to his song and then he chuckles at Booke "I am an eighteen year old werewolf. I'm pretty sure that hungry is a constant state. I can almost always find a corner to tuck a snack into."

Trey points toward the approaching bot and laughs brightly. "Bacon on demand," he tells Evan, "Tell it you're hungry, and it will cook and serve you some fresh bacon. Seriously." He laughs softly and looks back to Brooke, noting, "I was here with the Frog Brothers a couple of weeks back and was introduced to the bot then. I admit to being good with anything that brings me meat I didn't have to hunt."

Soon, they can all see the BaconBot approaching. "BACON...BACON...BACON..." It just keeps repeating until it stops in front of them all. The chest opens up and a tray with cups of bacon comes out with the soft whirrr of the gears inside. The arms of the bot take a cup into each and presents it, by shoving it in the direction of Evan and Trey's faces. They will see bacon wrapped up like roses within the cup. "EAT... BACON... EAT... BACON..." It just keeps repeating until they take it.

Brooke grins, "I get all my sodium here while working. This guy keeps me filled." She goes to the minifridge and offers, "Anyone want a drink? I still keep some warm generic beer in case Billy ever pops his head in again, but I have water, juices, and cold soda and beers."

Evan grins and takes the offered bacon and quickly sets to consuming before saying "Well I was going to let you get back to whatever I interrupted Elder. Trey and Jack were showing me around town and Unless you needed something I think we'll be about it? Its been nice meeting you for sure."

Trey :laughs at this and says, "See what I mean?" He accepts bacon happily, and notes, "Tasty bacon. One more form of proof that Gaia loves us all." He nibbles the strip with a pleased expression. "There's never a bad time for bacon. Oh, thanks, that would be great, if there's some kind of sweet tea maybe? Or a Coke? With the salt, you need sweet to go with it." He considers this and asks, "Warm beer? Who likes beer warm? It's best almost like ice." He looks to Evan for his opinion on the matter, out of curiosity, then ohs! "One thing, I wanted to ask. Mercy told me to check here about getting my laptop secured. I have it, I have everything on it saved to the little stick drive, I was just wondering if I could leave that with someone to do? I'm happy to pay for their time..."

Brooke replies, "Very Good Boy.. Billy... he's lupus born. And just has a few things that are just him. Warm generic beer is one. Steak knives mounted on roombas is another. Um.. yeah, so be careful if you come in here and you see a roomba around." Because that could be Stabby. "Oh you have a laptop? Totally leave it here, and I'll get it all set up. Do either of you need a phone, by the way? I just got a new shipment of the latest models in. We have a kinfolk that makes and installs hypertech chips for us that keep the phones safe from tracking. I can transfer all your data, pictures, apps to the new phone anytime for you. It's all free. So if anything happens, we can fix it. Or replace it. If the phone gets lost, we can remotely destroy it but save all your stuff." She smiles to Evan, "Good to have escorts to show you around. I hope to see more of you."

Evan will totally get one of the GW special phones before he bounces "That sounds perfect. Thanks!"

Trey smiles at Brooke, pulling out an older Samsung laptop -- it's lightweight, probably three years old or so (so, *ancient*), and well-loved. "Gift from a friend when she upgraded, but it does what I need it to do." He also takes Brooke up on the swap of phones, and says, "That's really helpful -- thank you. If you ever need help, please feel free to call on me. Number's on the phone." He grins and looks over. "Was Jack talking about surfing today? Have to figure out where I'm riding us."

Brooke will get Trey's laptop all settled, and then be sure Evan picks out whatever phone he wants, a case to go with it, and have it all setup and ready to go (with her number in it). "Go have fun! I'll be around here, or the Caern if you ever need me."
