Catch a Little Dinner[1]
A number of people meet randomly on the clothing optional beach at Surfer's Cove
IC Date November 25, 2020
Players Jaycob, Parker, River, Sacha Veritosky and Thorn (also Conn briefly)
Location Surfer's Cove

Despite this being a clothing optional beach, the temperature really, really doesn't call for being in anything less than the woman - this is a woman - is wearing. Dark yoga pants, dark long-sleeved compression shirt, running shoes and a bright T-shirt with the image of a badly drawn Kermit the Frog holding a handgun make up her outfit, and near the fire is her messenger bag, a collapsible camp stool, and a couple of bottles of water. A flat stone scavenged from somewhere on the beach has been set near the fire and, it seems, is being used as a makeshift heater, judging from the pastries sitting there, warming from the heat of the fire.

The spirits, on either side of the trail that the woman has been making with her running across the beach, seem to be keeping well out of her way, but watching. Curious more than anything. Imagine a child that REALLY REALLY Wants to meet Santa Claus, but is too afraid to approach. That's the spirits watching the woman run.

Also wearing clothes, plus the jacket and courier bag, is Jaycob. Spying the unfamiliar woman there, in her dope ass shirt, he approaches quietly, his lips curling into a soft smile for her and the scene as a whole. His gaze does lift up, sweeping across the scene nearby, and then back down towards Thorn. "Pardon me." He starts, speaking softly so as not to startle the woman. "I don't mean to intrude on your... Practice, but I do want to let you know that I'm going to be painting the beach scene here, behind you."

The beach, this time of morning, is mostly bereft of anyone, with the sun slowly starting to come in over the hills and dunes to the east, leaving this place in almost a twilight sort of state for a bit longer than usual. The greeting from Jaycob gets Thorn to slow from her sprint to a jog and then to a stopping point, breathing heavily, looking at the man for a moment or two.

Straightening, she sighs. "Listen, we'll talk when I'm done running, okay?" she says softly, straightening, shaking her head back and forth, blinking, before seeming to focus on Jaycob for the first time and not the beach around him. "Oh! Um...you're not bothering me. I'm just getting a little exercise." She grabs one bicep with her opposite hand, across her chest, glancing at something near the fire, then back to the man. "Go ahead and paint. As long as you're not in the middle of where I've been running, things should be just fine."

Having decided to go to the beach, Parker rides up to it on her motorcycle wearing her biker's leathers. After parking she removes her boots and then strips her leather jacket and chaps off revealing a one piece swimsuit consisting of a "black" sheer front panel and strings in the back with which the torc around her neck matches expertly. The boots, leathers and her phone go into one of her motorcycle's saddlebags, which she locks with a combination padlock, after which she extracts a dark gray towel and sunglasses which become the only other thing she is wearing as she walks out onto the beach not yet seeing anyone she recognizes among the beach goers - most likely because she isn't actually looking to pick out individuals yet.

Coolly moving to a position behind the fire, and a little ways off, Jaycob lays his courier bag down into the sand with his lips curling into a soft smile for Thorn, bearing a sort of natural pout to their delighted curl. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your activity." He mentions softly, sweeping his gaze through the empty space towards those spirits that linger near Thorn, following after her and watching her, it seems. Meanwhile, he kneels down and unzips his bag, seemingly to begin arranging his belongings.

"A nice, quiet place to come visit, so early in the morning. I'm sure it generally allows for a calm work out, when you aren't being accosted by a stranger, of course." He mentions with a hint of amusement in his tone towards Thorn. At the sound of a motorcycle nearby, he peeks over his shoulder towards Parker and her arrival as well, his lips curling into a brighter, more naturally pouty smile for her.

Up in the parking area, near where Parker parked, is another motorcycle - a small dirt bike locked to one of the posts separating the parking lot from the rest of the beach. "I've found that very few people tend to accost me so early in the morning. but this?" She gestures to Jaycob. "This isn't being accosted. This is two people in the same area. You're fine." The lack of people was probably why she chose to run just as the sun was coming up. She grins and starts jogging again, coming to the ending point of her run, turning and catching sight of Parker in her outfit that could charitably called a swimsuit, as well as the smile from Jaycob. Wearing something like that, and with her fire being the only fire on the beach, chances are she's going to have company. Here's hoping she's as friendly as the guy.

Parker, seeing a figure she recognizes (Jaycob) as potentially someone who she's working on clothing for (Jaycob again), heads towards the pair at the fire. Getting closer she recognizes both of the pair and greets them with a quick, "Hey guys," as she looks for a place to set her towel down near them.

Admittedly, with Parker's chosen outfit, Jaycob seems to be finding it hard...

To keep his attention away from her, as she makes her way towards the pair of them. Still, he does arrange a portable easel, positioning it in the sand for a moment until he is sure it is stable and secure, and then he positions paint and a small canvas on the easel. "Well, I'm glad for the company, personally." He offers softly, peeking back at Thorn with his lips curling into that smile of his again. "And I'm further glad to not cause anyone any trouble in the meantime." He assures softly.

As Parker arrives closer to the pair of them, he seems to already be at work, weting his brush with waterbased paint, and applying it in soft, slow strokes along the canvas. "Hey Parker." He offers softly, not looking towards the incredibly distracting view as he works.

Luckily, Thorn's running back and forth has pretty much come to a close. Six transitions of the beach judging from the amount of footsteps going back and forth, which means sitting down and taking a break and enjoying the scenery is the order of the day. Whether or not the scenery being referenced means the actual scenery or the show Parker's putting on with that barely there swimsuit remains to be seen but the woman seems to be very good with her sight lines. Sitting down on her little camping stool, Thorn rummages around in her bag for a paper-wrapped package and transfers the croissants to sit on top of her messenger bag. The crinkling of paper follows and the stone is turned with her foot, the side facing the fire now sitting up and sizzling hot. Which explains why she lays three strips of bacon across to start sizzling. "It's nice to have conversation." she says with a smile, looking from Jaycob to Parker and then back again. "I'm Thorn. You two..." a pointed finger moves between the pair. "Know each other?"

Parker nods to Thorn with a slight incline of her head. "We do," she says and, apparently noticing that her attire attracted some attention from Thorn, explains, "He's seen me in less and sketched me in more." She then asks Thorn, "We've met before, correct? Wasn't it at Tattooed Party Gal's anniversary party?" while trying to maneuver herself to see what Jaycob is working on at this time.

There is a blink from Jaycob at the hint that he has seen her in less, and then a moment of recognition as his lips curl into a more pleasant smile, content for the memory, it seems. "To be fair, you've seen me half naked on more than one occasion as well." He adds towards Parker as his hand continues to stroke slowly, softly along, bring the brush in easy motions along the canvas. He doesn't protest as Parker moves to look over his shoulder, towards the barely started painting, with a few blue lines here and there, growing in the still minimal detail. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Thorn." He offers softly. "I am Jaycob, and yes, we know each other." He adds, gesturing towards Parker with his free hand.

That explains the familiarity, but doesn't really explain how Parker's not cold wearing almost nothing. Still, it is a nice view to go with the beach scene that's going on and her mode of dress does let both Thorn and Jaycob have visible representation of how cold Parker might be. She giggles and nods. "Well, you were wearing a lot more at Bobbi's party. I was wondering where I saw you before. Small world, huh? Nice to meet you again."

Taking a knife from the bag, she uses it to poke the bacon, the scent starting to pick up on the wind. She grins at Jaycob, then back to her cooking. "Very cool, Jaycob. Treat her like you want to be treated and it'll all work out for everyone involved."

Parker's body is reacting to the cold, the fabric does nothing to conceal that, but she isn't showing any concern about the cool temperatures this mid-morning. "Thorn is an unusual name isn't it miss?" she asks the other woman at the fire the trio are around while continuing to watch Jaycob sketching from over his shoulder. "We're just acquaintances really," she says about Jaycob because of the inference she's taking from Thorn's comment.

"For clarity's sake, my view of her was entirely platonic. Just as we both share a view of her now." Jaycob offers in a cool explanation towards Thorn, his lips still curled with the traces of the fond memory he has of the encounter. With, perhaps a shudder. Which is probably just the cold. Probably. Still, his hand works slowly and gently with the brush against the canvas. Then there is an agreeing nod towards Parker, and his gaze drifts towards her for half a moment, likely taking in the sight of her reaction to the cold. He blinks for a moment, his work slowing for the view and then he clears his throat and continues to paint. "And, to be fair, that's my general plan with anyone I meet."

"A good plan." Thorn concedes, looking to Parker again and nodding towards the fire, inviting her a little closer to keep from freezing her shapely tits off in the cool from the wind from the sea. Thorn is dressed in workout clothes and apparently is having her breakfast by a fire she's built on the beach. A flat rock is being used as an impromptu cook top where three slices of bacon sizzle in their own fat, dripping into the fire with a hiss. She sits back a little, her gaze going distant, focusing on something on the edge of her perception as she relaxes, listening to the combined sounds of wind, waves, and fire. Just get Heart in here and Captain Planet could make a cameo appearance.

"It is unusual. It's a nickname, basically, that I took for myself. A translation of my middle name, Spinia. Spine. The full name, if you /must/ know, is Herminia Espina Montoya." She rolls her eyes. "Madre thought she was being cute about how difficult it was to get me out."

The weather never really seems to touch Conn. Even on a balmy day like today, here he is, wearing his leather jacket. One of the surfers gives him a friendly wave and asks if he's going to join them today, but he shakes his head and mentions other plans. He takes his shoes and socks off and walks to the shoreline where he fills a small ornate bottle with water from the morning ocean. He mutters a prayer of gratitude to the ocean and seals the bottle with a nod and then pours a similar amount of whiskey back from his hip flask.

Parker nods and steps closer to the fire to accept the invitation. "If we are giving full names and discussing unusual ones I believe mine qualifies most people think Parker is a last name when I tell them that's my name," she says, adding, "Parker Drew Morales specifically." She then actually takes a half step back from the fire, saying, "That's actually too hot radiating directly against my skin. I'm okay with the slight chill, actually."

The smile on Jaycob's lips grow more, brighter for Thorn's appraisal of his social plans. He includes a soft nod, though generally keeps his attention locked between the landscape canvas he has in front of him, and the beach out before the party. While Parker shares her full name, he grins a bit and adds. "Jaycob Hamilton, though Jaycob is spelled with a Y. Because why not?"

Why not indeed? Thorn turns her bacon, using the back of her knife to flick some of the grease into the fire, letting it sizzle and smoke as it finishes cooking, sitting back on her seat, content with her place in the world. "The Mickey Mouse Club, on a beach." Thorn observes with a grin, cutting her croissants in half, layering the cooked bacon and some cheese on it, then placing it close to the fire to heat through while adding a few more strips of bacon because...bacon. "Nice little gathering. So...." she looks to Parker, then to Jaycob. "Either of you hungry?

Conn makes his polite goodbyes to the surfers he recognizes and heads back towards the road where his bike is. Before he leaves the beach proper, he leans down and fulls another small container with a handful of sand.

Apparently touched by the cold a bit more than she was willing to admit, Parker grabs her towel from where she had set it down and wraps it around her shoulders to cover her back but leaves it hanging open. "Seems more like a why yes rather than a why not," she says about Jaycob's name and nods to Thorn's question. However, her next words are more about the behavior she observed from another person on the beach: "Is the gathering of sand from a beach typical behavior here in California?"

At the mention of food, Jaycob's gaze sweeps over to Thorn and the meal she is preparing, and he gives her a gentle nod. "Oh, I am. Yes, please." He offers softly, his lips curled into a delighted smile for her at that, and then he chuckles and peeks towards Parker and shrugs a shoulder loosely. "Ask my parents, I suppose." He observes, and then pauses for a moment. "Would either of you two care if I included you in the painting?" He asks, peeking towards the girls. "I like to capture beauty in my art." A pause. "I can't imagine why." He adds, for the sand gathering comment.

Glancing over, Thorn catches Conn ducking down to gather a handful of sand and narrows her eyes, focusing, before snapping back to her meal preparation. Bacon is turned, Croissant is prepared and offered over to Jaycob without a word. More like 'here, food.' And if he takes it, it's his. "Lots of reasons. Religious, personal, monetary. I know a lady that makes bottles filled with sand from around the world. He might have been making one of those." There are probably a dozen other reasons Thorn could think of, but sharing in public probably isn't the best idea.

Nodding at the reasonable explination as she takes a croissant from Thorn as well, Parker says, "Thanks," to the other woman and then, "I do not mind my friend," to Jaycob at which she asks him, "Unless my attire would be too scandalous for you?"

Sacha makes her way onto the beach from the dunes above. She got a beach bag slung over one shoulder. She looks around to see who is all around when she hits the beach itself.

"Thank you." Jaycob offers with appreciation towards Thorn as she provides him with food, and he dips his head politely towards her as he continues to slowly work at the painting. Then he chuckles softly back at Parker and shakes his head lightly. "Listen, I think you're getting confused. I would paint you in your entirety, regardless of what you are wearing, or how you are positioned or posed... Clothed, or otherwise." He explains softly, his lips curled into a delighted smile at the prospect. "Of course, I couldn't really sell the painting without your permission then, but..."

River is out on her board as she lazily paddles her way into shore. Seems she is not shy about taking the beach up on the clothing optional part as she eventually reaches shore and wades in with her board in tow. She makes her way to a towel and her back as she drops the surfboard and grabs a towel to dry off.

It's a little past morning here on the beach, with Thorn dressed in her exercise gear next to a fire built in one of the many fire pits scattered around the beach. Dressed in skintight workout gear with an awesome frog on it, the trail of footsteps running back and forth shows that she's been doing laps. She's busy cooking, it seems, on a flat rock, using it as a griddle to fry bacon, of all things, which probably is why Parker and Jaycob are around. Parker is dressed in a swimsuit that might as well not be, and Jaycob is busy painting. Both are eating croissants Thorn has passed over and, with two gone, she fishes a couple more out of her bag. She's tapped once these are done.

Parker mmms as she makes a quick finish of the croissant Thorn gave her. "Delicious, thank you," she says before asking the cook, "Are you a professional chef or is this just a hobby?"

Another distracting view approaches the gather, Jaycob peeking towards River and pausing to take in the sight of her nude body for a moment. His gaze then slowly returns to the painting in front of him, his hand resuming the slow strokes, brush in hand. His other hand holds the breakfast sandwich, which he coolly munches on. "This is very good." He adds in agreement, and his gaze sweeps towards Parker too, to see if she has a reaction to his comment. By now, the painting is slowly growing in detail, the view of the beach in front of him becoming apparent.

"You're very welcome, Parker. It's just a hobby." Thorn says from her spot near the fire, taking a chunk of driftwood to add it to the fire with a shower of sparks. Would be much cooler if it were night, both in temperature and awesomeness, but it works well here this morning, too. The sight of River is...well...nice, and Thorn can only giggle faintly. "I love the beach." she whispers, more to herself than anyone.

Sacha finally finds a place to settle down on the beach. She retrieves a towel from her beach bag and spreads it out on the sand and sits down. Slowly undressing to finally put on a one piece swimsuit, one of the descent ones today.

Catching sight of Sacha, Thorn giggles again, shaking her head. Boy does she love the beach.

By now, with Sacha arriving and stripping naked in mostly plain view and changing... That makes for two nude women, one half nude woman, and one woman wearing tight fitting yoga clothes. Of course, his body is reacting in the expected way, which is plain to see as Jaycob bears his tented pants while still painting. He peeks towards Thorn though, still munching on his provided food. "I suddenly love the beach too. Though now I'm feeling... Over dressed."

River smiles as she sees people and recognizes at least Thorn as she walks over. Again covering up not a blip on her radar as she smiles "Thorn its good to see you again."

Sacha is still a little bit away from the others but not trying to hide either. She looks around again and sees that people is gathering around Jaycob and Thorn. She smiles a bit and reach into her bag again, retrieving a magazine that she start to flip through.

"It was very good," Parker reiterates about the breakfast sandwich. She then muses, "I think I chose the wrong day to come to the beach, next summer will be better I'm sure," at Thorn as River approaches and speaks to her which leads to her shifting her attention back to Jaycob's art.

Thorn grins at River as she comes close. "Good to see you." All of you. Thorn is /trying/ to sound nonchalant and is mostly succeeding. "Come hang out by the fire. You hungry?" She pats the towel she laid down on the sand early for sitting purposes, her own shapely butt taking up space in a folding camp chair. "I've got a croissant and some bacon and cheese left." Actually, she has two which means one is hers. Then, to Jaycob, she giggles and shrugs, nodding. "When I got here, it was chilly but with the running, I warmed up. I've already lost about two layers." She nods to the pile on the ground by her bag - a hoodie and some workout pants are there too. So... yeah. Thorn's kind of one step above Sacha, who's one step above Parker, who's positively chastely dressed compared to River.

River smiles as she sits and gives Thorn a hug. She then smiles to everyone else. "I'm River Salama, er Dr, but I prefer people don't use that moniker when I'm not at work."

As Parker's attention turns to him, Jaycob smiles warmly at her, in an attempt at being reassuring for her as he continues to paint. For anyone who might peek, he really has only included Parker in the painting, since she is the only one who has thus far consented. "It was chilly this morning." He agrees, peeking down at his jacket as he continues to nibble at his food. He finally sets his paint brush down and then takes a step back form his work. He wiggles some, letting his jacket slide off of a shoulder as he one arm strips it off, and then swaps hands on the food to fully pull it off. "Not so much any more."

Thorn gives River a wave as she comes over, glancing up and down the pixieish woman's brown-topped form when she does. "Hey there, River."

Sacha keeps to herself for now, but still close enough to the group to hear them over the sounds of the waves. She seems concentrated on her magazine for now. But now and then she looks up and towards the small gathering.

River grins and waves to Sacha as well she is not one to leave anyone left out. She then smiles and says "hello to her." She then looks back to Thorn and smiles as she says "Offering me food, its like you know me, I am always hungry. have a super high metabolism."

Sacha lifts her hand in a slight waves when she is greeted. "Hey there..." her magazine laid down on the towel while she converse with the group.

Thorn leans into the hug, squeezing the naked Doctor River with one arm and smiling to herself like the cat that got the cream. Releasing the hug, she shakes her head. "Well, yeah. But I mean, look at you? I'd be jealous to have a figure like that. I suppose it's why Bobbi has me running so much." Thorn squeezes her belly where there really isn't much flab to be found but, even with the yoga shirt, she manages to get a tiny fold of flab that could be taken care of before she starts making another one of the lovely greasy croissant bacon and cheese sandwiches, passing it over to River before starting on the fourth and last one. Sacha in her one piece gets a wave from Thorn's sitting position. "Hey there, good morning!"

Parker says, "Thank you again for the sandwich," to Thorn and, "I've an appointment to keep so it was nice to meet you all." She steps away from the fire, dresses in her biking leathers then departs on her motorcycle.
