Just before 3am on a Tuesday finds the Nexus nearly vacant. One room that is occupied is the Computer Room where Vic is sitting in the near dark - candle light levels due to all but a few of the lights in the room being off, only those that would remain on in an 'emergency mode' plus the glow of her laptop (screen and its T in a circle symbol that doesn't match any known manufacture's logo of this world). Next to her laptop on the left is a stack of books against which her smartphone leans from which the dulcet tones of Weird Al - currently Spam - is playing. To her and its right is another book laying flat open on the table. Her attention shifts back and forth from the laptop - upon which she occasionally types or swipes the touch pad - and the book - which she occasionally turns a page of.
Merek arrives on the train, he does like it. The man wears that dark attire he often does, from cargo pants to cargo shirt along with the belt-cape about the waist, to the hood which he wears about his features, a few hilites of neon-blue within the tips of the hair, along with thick stubble. The man carries a revolver on the hip. On the next looks to be a Badge of Office, a legend amidst Hermetic Orders, a full Sword of Mars.
There's a ring upon a finger, black tungsten metal with what looks to be a signet of wings. The Mage comes upon Vic, while he nods a bit. "You were looking to find a few teachers?"
Looking up from the book as she is spoken to, Vic blinks as she shifts her attention from the research to the man who addressed her. "Hi," she says. From the phone Word Crimes begins (OOC: https://youtu.be/8Gv0H-vPoDc). "Have we met," she asks without addressing the question asked of her.
Behind Vic, her shadow which is cast by the bright glow of her laptop's high definition screen, begins to flicker like electronic snow on an old CRT television that is on a channel with no broadcast signal.
Merek seems to think about that question, "I don't think we have met, I'm Merek," he offers, a simple introduction. No titles added, as none were asked for. He smiles from up beneath the hood a little bit to the woman, elongated canines notable.
Noticing what look like fangs, Vic's eyes narrow in suspicion. She leans to her left and pulls a vintage medical mirror out of the bag on the floor next to her chair. "I... hold still please... I want to check you out, neither of us need to move," she says as she puts the mirror on and pulls it in front of her face and focuses her will into allowing her to see his aura and feel out whether he is a living being or a walking corpse...
Merek seems to be thinking about it, while he nods. Knowing what the woman is doing, he would wait while he watches. The man lifts up a brow when she manages to take Paradox, though he doesn't really comment about it. His aura when actually noted would be golden wings along with black trim upon them, with a halo in the same tone. There's an ancient power with him. That sense would note he was actually a person, though there seems to be life energy that is well above what many people, even Magi, might keep.
Vic winces in pain as the paradox leeches its way into her being though her pores and then she grits though it and again focuses her will on Merek. As she does Handy (OOC: https://youtu.be/eXiwYUCe_bY) starts on her phone. This time his aura appears for her and she nods. "Worth it," she says with a soft sound of pain coloring her words. "I'm called Vic," she adds to identify herself.
Merek nods a bit to Vic, while he seems to think about it, the canines shifted a bit with his smile becoming just a little look to the place, "Well, it's nice to meet you, I can assist with teaching you if you ever like."
"I've been looking to unlock the Mind sphere," Vic says openly using a gamer's term and then asks, "Are you proficient with it yourself, Merek?" innocent of any knowledge of who the Council-member actually is.
"Ya, I know a bit," Merek mentions, nodding a bit to Vic. The man takes a look to the woman, "I am willing to teach, although I would probably ask you to learn from different people, first within the Tradition you are then to the viewpoint of different folk."
Smells Like Nirvana starts on the phone.
Vic laughs. "I know two V-Depts, have actually met one, and have no clue if he knows Mind," she says, still chuckling. "I'll ask him but I'm an odd duck so I am not counting on any help from that sector to be honest," she explains and then asks, "Have you heard about me from Arumi, Bobbi or anyone else already, Merek?"
"You know, I don't know, I just like to keep to myself," Merek mentions, with a nod along to Vic in thought.
Vic nods and says, "Well, to put is simply Merek, I'm an extradimentional alien who hasn't even had a month on this world. So my resources and contacts are primarily unavailable in the most fundamental way."
Merek nods a bit to Vic, "Well, we can assist in making you settled in," he mentions, while he offers a look to the place, "If you need anything, you can ask," he states.
Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" begins to play, but unseen by either the actual video is a bit different.
Vic nods. "The community's been awesome. Astra put me up for a bit, I'm staying at Raise's gym now. Been to Bobbi's meetings the last two weeks also." She pauses and thinks before adding, "I've even made a friend who can take care of my miscalculation a few minutes ago. They call paradox nettles however."
Merek nods a bit then, while he thinks about it, "I think I know who you mean, anyway. We can begin on the basics if you like and afterwards always schedule another meeting."
The scene faded to black at this point as Vic's player had to go to work, however the following was also provided by Merek's player to cover the continued 'handwaved' conversation.
Merek would note the basics of mind being recognizing the way mental processes work, often a lot of psychological profiling along with a little assistance in knowing neural pathways.
