This evening Maple Park is rather quiet. It's been quiet with the murders that have happened recently. The police have increased their presence some but it hasn't stopped the killing, at least not yet. Four young men have died in the last two weeks, killed in the middle of the night and their bodies discovered in the morning with no witnesses to the attack. Some think it's animal attacks as two of the men were found with bite marks on them but the other two appeared to have been pummeled to death. As of yet nothing conclusive has been discovered.
There's a light layer of mist in the air as the warmer temperature of the day gives way to the chill of the evening, Maple Park as well lit as always with the various walking paths lacing through the park.
Hannelore is waiting alone in Hyde park under a park light, having kept a steady stream of texts going with Rian and or Chayse until they arrive.
Naturally, Rian has texted Chayse while getting himself on the way, making sure he's looped in incase he needs to pick the guy up or anything like that. He's got a backpack on, and a drink carrier with Starbucks coffees of different types filling the voids.
Chayse rode along with Rian, texting Hanne along the way. His cup is the Peppermint Mocha, cause tis the season. "So... What 'exactly' is going on?" He muses to Rian along the way. As they pull up, and he sees Hannelore, he purses his lips and steps out to runa hand through his brown locks. He's determined not to make this a 'Thing'... Until it becomes a Thing...
"Dunno!" Rian says, smiling anyways because he's just happy to do stuff in general. "I hope it's not sad though, I'm manstrating like crazy, I swear to god." he says with a laugh. "Hey, there she is." he spins the carrier around to aim one of the beverages at her, and asks, "Alright, mate?" in greeting, although aside from it just being a British 'heya', he actually *is* concerned that she's alright. Especially if he came prepared to bury a body. A small body, any how.
Hannelore scurries over in her heels and holds her arms out.... for the coffee. She scoops up her drink and take a long gulp and makes a satisfied sound. "That makes tonight so much better. Did you bring vapo rub? You might want vapo rub." She begins to walk further into the park, along the path but into an area that isn't as well lit. That is when you can begin to smell decomp and cooked meat. Hannelore turns her phone's flashlight on and waves it in the dark where two dogs are stiffing around something on the ground. "Nein!" She shouts at the dogs, "Get!"
Wait. No one said anything about a body... Chayse furrows his brows at the Vapo-Run comments and lofts his brow at Rian, but shrugs. I mean, he's smelt worse. In the last 48 hours, in fact. He edges over the area where the dogs are rooting and shines his own flash light over the scene as he tugs the front of his shirt up over his nose. "The fuck, Hanne?"
Rian makes a frumpy 'uh!' sound at Hannelore and says, "Then why didn't you *say* 'bring Vaporub'!" he complains at the woman, and follows her along down the path. "Holy- What did you *do*!" he says when an unexpected whiff jumps up his nose, making him back up a step so he can tug his shirt up also and proceed with olfactory caution.
Hannelore looks over the rim of her coffee cup, letting the sweet smell of ground goodness hold the smell at bay. "It wasn't my fault! I was just walking through the park and...." Where does she even begin. "Do you want the full explanation now, or would it be better to clean up the mess before anyone else finds it?"
Hannelore says, "And I told you to bring the shovel and trash bags. Do I have to think of everything?"
"So... Why aren't we just letting the authorities handle the random body in the park?" Chayse asks, skeptically, as he turns to face Hanne. "It's not 'random' is it?" He asks.
"Eine minuten, bitte," Rian says with a shrewd look at the Lady-Lord, "We all know full well it's gonna be him and me cleaning up messes and you're just gonna stand up wind and drink coffee." he says while setting stuff down to get into the backpack, and not sounding accusitory! Juuuuuust sayin, "So you tell us, and we'll do this." At the follow up from her he pffft's, "You're a dainty little personal shopper that kills with fashion sense and particularly vicious looks, why would my first thought *definitely* be 'oh she's got a dead body'. Unless you like... Hit a cat while driving or sommat." He's got a couple camp shovels in his backpack, smaller than a normal one but less conspicuous than just walking around with bigass shovels. Also trash bags! He pulls out a roll and pulls some off. He's also got laytex gloves! Chayse gets some of both things. "Okay, what is it we're looking at here... Yeah he's got a point." He notes about the brains of their operation: Chayse, while attempting to see what's what.
Hannelore sighs. "As if the two of you haven't gotten me into mischief every time I go out with you." She gives her best school marm scolding look. "Very well. We can't call the authorities because the dead body was already dead when it died. That is, this creature was a woman who was murdered here in the park. She came back looking for revenge on the man who killed her but instead settled for any brown haired young man she found alone in the park. It was in the papers and everything apparently. The dead men that is."
Chayse just looks up at Rian. For a good solid minute. Then, he just shakes his head. "So. A zombie? He makes his best guess. Are we sure that simply 'burying' it again will do the trick, then?"
"That's awful." Rian says when the why comes out, getting some gloves on and setting about shaking out some bags. They're those bigass 50 gallon kinds for construction. "Did you find out who she was? ...And we certainly shouldn't bury her off the side of a path in a place where she was murdered. She's probably *got* a grave somewhere, yeah? I mean... If she's a zombie or some such, then she had to come from somewhere. ...Or DID she??" He knows literally nothing about things that are dead, so he has literally no idea but he agrees with Chayse that it's gotta be a zombie, and he's also smart enough to think of 'does it get back up' again! "Brov I really need to speak with you after this. Both of you, really." he says with a grin, then asks, "What?" at Chayse when he gets stared at. HE'S dense, but his player is laughing.
"It has been burned, so I don't think THIS body will come back," Hannelore adds helpfully. "I don't know if another one will be created the next time a pretty brown haired boy walks through the park." She just LOOKS at Chayse. "I did find out part of the name and the image of the man who killed her. The plan is to find the man who killed her and find justice for her so she can rest." Sure. Cause that is what you do.
Something is still rotten in the state of Prospect, but Chayse sighs and takes some gloves from Rian. He continues to give the man a bit of side-eye because it's pretty apparent he came prepared, and likely 'knew' how they'd be spending their evening before they got here. He just returns the STARE at Hanne. Yes! It HAS crossed his mind that he's a good-looking brunette guy. THANK YOU! He just sighs and runs his fingers through that stylish mop of brown hair. "Let's just... Get this over with," he decides, sliding closer to the body and grabbing a shovel. And then, something Hanne says grabs his attention again, "you will not be seeking out a murderer, Miss Darleen."
"I *swear*! I thought it was going to be a cat at worst, or probably just Stuff." Rian insists at Chayse! "She said shovel and trashbags! ...and I happen to have gloves in my car. Cars are gross!" He starts working one half of the poor lady into a bag, it's not much of a body bag or a coffin but once she's enveloped in a pair of them it wont be that bad! "Yeah, you listen to the alpha, young lady." he says after Chayse's oh-nuh-uh at Hannelore.
Hannelore steps more onto the path to watch for anyone that might be coming by. She takes out her phone and makes a few texts messages. "I never said I was going to seek out a murderer. I just have to help identify him. Someone with more offensive power can seek him out. I plan on keeping my hands and clothes clean of any mess." She indicates that somehow, despite there being a dead and burnt body, she has no stains on her clothes.
There's a sickening *PoP* and some viscous sprays out of a broiled boil and over chayse's button-down. A look of numb horor criss-crosses Chayse's features and he pauses a sec to sort of shoot Hannelore a withering glance as she goes on about keeping her clothes clean while firing iff texts. He sighs, long sufferingly and shakes his head as he finally gets the other half of the woman's body in a garbage bag. "You got the duct tape?" He asks Rian.
"Yep, right over there in the rape and or murder kit that I didn't realize I'd constructed until *just* now." Rian says with a point over there, trying desperately not to laugh or vomit at poor Chayse. Laumit. He's feeling it though, OH GOD gag reflex, just keep it under control! "I got spare clothes in the trunk." he tells the poor bastard.
Hannelore's phone makes a swish noise as she sends an email. "Speaking on investigations, when are we going shopping again? There is a mask shop at the mall I've been meaning to check out."
Chayse mutters something about Hannelore now also being their Activities Director as he fetches the duct tape. He makes his way back and helps Rian duct tape the bags up, "soon as we can. Better get a move on that before it, too, becomes a 'Thing'..." As they finish, Chayse steps back and gives their handiwork the longview before inquiring, "anyone consider what we do with the body now?" he asks.
Well, now that dead persons are neatly wrapped up (TEAMWORK!), Rian stands up again and asks, "Well, now what? The park is a bad idea, this poor lady'll be found. We should take her out somewhere else. Hanne gets the car real close to the entrance and you and I try not to be obvious creepy fucks?" he asks of Chayse. As for the other thing, "As soon as possible. My sisters were kind enough to do a little bit of legwork for me to help out, I've got the details at home."
Hannelore considers, "Does Black Stag Forge actually have a forge? Maybe they have somewhere we could finish burning it? I don't suppose you two know anyone with an incinerator."
CHayse just looks at Hanne as if she had sprouted another head. "Have you lost your /mind/? There's /no way/ I'm taking this anywhere /near/ Jake...." He sighs. "We can... Dump it in the water somewhere?"
"Well... I mean I know where we can get wood and set things on fire." Rian offers with a shrug while stripping off his gloves and digging around in his pack for a crumpled up shopping bag or something to put their trash - and Chayse's shirt - into. Dun nobody wanna smell that shit! "I don't think the Stag's forge is built for body disposal anyhow. And bodies get found in water. Hanne, go get the car, Chayse and I'll get her to it, and we'll just go out somewhere remote. There's a lot of THAT around here."
Hannelore takes the keys to whatever car they are taking and toddles off to find the vehicle and bring it around. "Surely you know someone who can get rid of it. I only knew you two." Eventually she brings the car around and texts when she is in position.
Chayse peels his shirt off and tosses it in the bag, nodding his thanks to Rian as a hand rakes through his hair again. "I'm pretty sure the combustion temperature for a body is pretty high," Chayse says. "Yeah we're better off heading out to the desert to bury it," even though Chayse's player is silently screaming about what a Very Bad Idea that plan is. He prepares to duck walk the body in the back of the car and then goes round to hop in with his broheim and Hanneheim.
Hoisting a dead chick and sneaking her out of a park isn't really one of those things Rian expected to be doing on a Wednesay, but hey, when in Prospect. Getting to the park's edge probably isn't too difficult, but there to the car, even with it close, Rian expects that to be tricky at best! I mean, who the hell moves rolled up rugs or whatever out of the park, it's so obviously a body duct taped up in bags getting put in a trunk! ACT CASUAL! Get the other stuff in there. Nothing to see here, everyone look away! "Alright, your car's near here, yeah?" he asks Hanne once they're in the car and relatively safe, "Let's go get it, we'll stop by a petrol station so you can buy a jug, then we'll go out and have a nice quiet, very thorough funeral, unless anyone can think of any reasons why that's a bad idea? My backup plan is 'Call George'. Elder Ragabash always know body disposal, don't they?"
Hannelore drives the car over to hers. "However you boys want to handle it. I figure the Garou have all kinds of ways to deal with this sort of thing. You can make sure it doesn't have worms, and that it is cleaned up all nice and clean for Gaia."
Chayse pauses and looks back at Rian for a second. "You know of an Elder who might can hep with this?" He asks. "Because... And just hear me out... I'm just a Claith and maybe it'd be helpful to check in with someone who /actually knows what they're doing when it comes to body destruction/?" He's not... Angry. Well, maybe a little 'hangry'... But mainly just done. And he can still smell it on him.
Rian takes a minute once they get to Hanne's car, swapping seats to the driver's and readjusting a couple things, and then whipping out his phone to text a bit as well before hooking it up to the dashboard. "Well, 'know an elder' would be pretty strong wording, I just figure that an elder ragabash WOULD know that sort of thing, right? And there was one at the gym earlier, George something, and he popped into my head just now as a possible option. Don't worry, I've texted!"
Hannelore starts her car and rolls down her window, "Ok, well, you boys let me know how it turns out ok. I really appreciate all your hard work tonight. You're life savers. I'll find you something nice to wear. Some nice accessory that you can make your signature piece. Ok? Ok. Good night!" She rolls up the window. Yep. She is totally just going to drive off and leave you both holding the body unless someone stops her.
A message comes back shortly and he gets their cars on conference call, "George said to come to the Jolly Dragon." and Rian starts that way! "So. Chayse. About that alpha comment I made earlier."
What.... Wait.. "Ohhhhhhh Nonononononononoo Noooo You Don't!" Chayse calls through his own open window. "Don't /make me/ get out of this car and chase you down in those ridiculous heels of yours!" He tries to open the door, but of course, it's auto-locked as Rian starts to head off. Chayse finally sits back in the seat, just shaking his head incredulously. "Can you believe... She was just going to /leave/ us.... Huh. Sneaky little Shadow Lord..." He almost smirks a bit, stroking an index finger beneath his chin. Finally, he returns to the here-and-now. "Alpha comment? About George?"
Foothills Road - Old Hwy 58
Old Highway 58 is a fairly typical rural two lane highway winding its way through the foot hills. A variety of homes can be seen from the highway ranging from very nice homes to a trailer. A couple of locations show some promise perhaps for a small subdivision, zoning board willing. In addition there is a variety of small businesses along the road, mechanics, farmer's markets, and swap meets to name a few of the road side businesses that can be found. At times one might even pass the occasional small farm or even small ranch.
Out here unlike to the north, bill boards dot the landscape with most of them perched up on ridge lines for plenty of visibility. Low Mountains rise to the east to dominate the horizon and are dotted with patches of graze land or distant homes and barns. To the West, it is mostly woods but sometimes there are large meadows or cleared farm land that is being worked.
"No, dumbass, *you*." Rian tells Chayse while they're driving, smiling and laughing at the co-pilot. It's a fairly short drive to where they're goin, probably, so it's somewhere in the 5 to 10 minute range to get all up in the JD's parking lot and go for the back of the building.
George is standing in the parking lot of the Jolly Dragon, under a street lamp near the road. No vehicle or mode of transportation apparent.
Hannelore reluctantly follows Rian and Chayse to the Jolly Dragon. She did her part but a woman's work is never done apparently. She pulls up behind them and idles for a bit, rolling down her window to see if they truly need her for anything else. She gives a well manicured wave out the window to George.
Chayse screws up his face, "but I'm not an Alpha of anything," he explains to Rian. As they roll up at the Jolly Dragon the young man cranes his head to get a look-see and arches a brow at the man under the street lamp. "/He's/ a /Ragabash/?" Slowly, Chayse reaches over to unbuckle his seatbelt.
"You're fuckin adorable mate." Rian says, and punches Chayse in the shoulder while pulling around. "That's what they tell me!" he says, throwing it in park and hopping out the driver's door to lean on the roof. "You hoppin in or are we parking?" he asks of George. He looks to Hannelore and says, "Okay okay, you're probably fine to go on, I guess. I'll make sure Chayse doesn't cry too hard about it." he tells the lady with a grin.
George snorts at the groups banter and saunters over to Rian's car "Going elsewhere, eventually. What sort of package we have to deliver?"
Hannelore gives another wave and even gives a smile to George. In answer to Rian she says, "I can hang around for a little bit. Just letting my phone charge."
Chayse rolls his eyes a bit at Rian. Cry. Feh. And, of /course/ Hanne's up for sticking around now that there's Elder Eye Candy to oggle. Just /sayin'/. He steps out of the car along with Rian, but stays near the door. "Burned corpse of a woman that somehow... Reanimated..." He realizes somewhere in here that he might sound a bit... Off.
"Mighta been a zombie out for revenge." Rian agrees quietly with a nod to Chayse's summary. "But we realized we didn't know anyone with an incinerator or anything." He, for one, finds conversing about zombies and such to be totally normal! But, Rian's also probably been dropped on his head a few times as a young werewolf.
George is a Silent Strider. Zombies don't even rate on the wtfkery meter. "Most of the ways to make Zombies I know a lot about have to do with either unusual kinds of banes, willworkers, or vampires. And actually you do know someone with an incinerator. Or at least a blast furnace. But I don't know how Elder Miller feels about his facility getting used for corpse disposal. Yeah, this shouldn't be hard to handle though."
Hannelore sticks her head out of the window, "Did he say Elder Miller? See? We could have taken it to Jake after all." There is some more mumbling as she sticks her head back in her car.
Chayse is trying to be patient with his tribe's kin. He really is. "No," he corrects, "we could not have taken it to Defiant Storm. There's a big difference between 'has an incinerator' and 'totally willing to use it to burn bodies'. You get that, yeah?" He looks over his shoulder and sighs a bit. She didn't even hear a word he said. Typical. Not that it matters... He offers a bit of a smile to George. He sees relieved that Zombies are totally normal in these parts, but ay have to consider what that means, exactly, later. "That's great news, sir," Chayse nods, looking to Rian. "What do you need us to do from here?"
Rian grins a bit as poor Chayse lays it down, and does not attempt to put his hand in that wasp's nest! Not his tribe anyhoo. So instead he looks back at his Bro and then to George, awaiting instructions from the far, far more knowledgable.
George nods at Chayse and gestures towards the woods to the west "The Kinfolk house is a couple miles that way. We're not going there, just so you can orient yourself. We're going to get closer to the woods, someone is going to pick up the body and we're all going to cross with it into the umbra where My sun-falcon friend can..." George tilts his head as if listening "Cleanse it from the earth. With fire. He likes burning bad things."
