MMA vs MMay I?
Raise and Vic spar, Caressa watches
IC Date November 20th, 2020
IC Time Late afternoon/early evening
Players Caressa, Raise and Vic
Location New Hope MMA

Raise is in the far back you are guessing because at the moment you can see fire blazing behind the plexiglass in the back room. It fades as quickly and a moment later another purt of fire can be seen but this time it seem to be in a line rather than just a flash but it fades just as quickly. Raise steps out of the back room covered in sweat his arm over his eyes as he takes a step or too more. Still not looking yet he says louder than he probably intended, "Whoo hooo I need to figure something out about the heat. Now that was an over sight of my own." he then straightens and starts to head for the fridge.

Vic, who is stretching in preparation for a practice and/or workout session, was aware of the blazing flames so asks Raise, "What exactly were you doing back there, grilling dinner or something?"

Raise looks over with a smile, "I thought I might practice a bit. Try to get the size and shape aspects more familiar. I really have only used the back rooms a couple times until now and then really to just cast once but after my fourth today the room could have roasted a turkey I swear." he glances over his shoulder and then looks back to Vic with a grin, "Up for a real workout?" he nods with his head to the octagon without actually looking at it.

Frowning, Vic asks, "Are you a pyromancer or something?" because she obviously isn't familiar with Raise's magic despite the weeks, near months, of training and sparing together. "Sure," she says, "I've prepared for it since today's not a class day."

Raise smiles wide and walks with you over to the ring. As the two of you walk hee explains, "I am a master of Ki, most call it Mana. I first learned to only effect my own body but a WIse man took me in and taught me that I could expand that control outwards. That is where I learned to manipulate Ki in the world around me." he waves his hand at the air around you, "I did it here for the entire gym. When you get hit in this gym you have a much better chance to shrug it off without effect than when you are not in the gym. After that quite by accident I discovered I could ignite things by manipulating the Ki in a certain way. I admit after I realized that learning to do it well was not that hard, it actually came to me quite quickly. A while later I wanted to help someone who was hurt and could not help them so I worked on figuring out how to use my control of Ki to Heal people and that was a struggle. It took me much longer to learn to do that than it did to catch things on fire. I have been trying to work out a way to replicate some magic I encountered. It has to do with luck but so far I have still drawn a blank but I think it is right there if I just turn over the right leaf." he chuckles and as you arrive to the octagon he steps up and holds the ropes open for you.

Vic listens and follows along to the octagon and then ducks under the ropes and stretches one last time. "Ah, that's awesome," she says in reply, adding, "I've used some technomantic techniques to artificially increase some of my combat proficiency based on the class we're currently doing. I'm still no master combattant but I hope to be able to do better in this session than you're seeing in class, but I swear I only hypercram for non-lesson days!" Once she's joined in the ring she bows with the proper respect taught in class and stands ready to enter her actual ready stance at the start of the fight.

Raise smiles and bows back and takes a proper stance before his slow circle begins.

Caressa comes in from New Hope - Apartment (thus the mini-set from Raise below)

Raise and Vic are both up in the ring with MMA gloves on. THey seem to have just begun to circle.

Caressa wanders in. It has been awhile since she visited and tonight seemed good. Spotting Raise and Vic in the ring, she makes some popcorn and takes a seat to watch.

Knowing she's outclassed and looking vaguely glad this is a friendly fight, Vic holds her guard stance and slowly moves in a circle counter to Raise, she's waiting for him to make the first move... not that she has a chance to beat him to it anyway with his degree of combat training.

Raise steps forward and throws a very straight forward punch, telegraphing it the whole time.

Vic deftly steps under and aside avoiding the punch. "You telegraphed that one," she comments as she moves, almost sounding like she's annoyed that he's going light on you.

Raise chuckles and circles again, "Ohh you saw that one coming then?"

Caressa smiles, "Don't go easy on him! He can take it!" She chimes from the peanut gallery.

Raise closes the distance quickly and snaps out a well timed punch to your torso landing it solidly.

Attempts to side step the punch again but instead turns the solid strike into a strong glancing blow... which still causes her to exhale strongly as the wind is partially knocked out of her. She follows though on her planned counter strike aiming towards Raise's own abdomen as an easy target and lands the blow.... to no apparent real effect.

Raise smiles and nods happily to Vic, "Atta girl!" he then goes back to circling. The blow seemed to have no effect but because of his genetic condition even if it did he still would not have felt it.

Humming Eye of the Tiger to herself, Vic focus her will on the sphere of Life and causes her personal pattern to no longer bear the effects of Raise's punch, she continues the circling watching him prepare for a defense and stays out of his reach while reality comes to accept the change she evoked into it.

Caressa happily munches on the popcorn as she watches the sparring match.

Raise continues to circle and asks, "Are we dancing or fighting?"

Raise closes the distance and then one of his those impossibly long legs sweeps out and takes Vic's legs out from under her.

At the mention of dancing, Vic includes some fancy dancing footwork which immediately turn into an attempt to leap over Raise's sweeping leg. Unfortunately she didn't get the clearance required to avoid him clipping her legs out from beneath her and she falls to the ground with an "Ooof" but she curls into a somersault and kips up into an unsteady version of her guard stance as she attempts to get her senses back together. Her intention to follow up the dodge with a counter strike is, naturally, no longer on her mind during this brief recovery non-action.

Caressa sets the popcorn down and moves to the edge of her chair in case Vic happens to be hurt worse than she appears to be.

Raise stands up and says, "Give it a moment Vic. This is just for fun I know that knocked the wind out of you, catch your breath." when Vic looks better he takes a stance again and starts to circle

Vic nods and breathes for a few moments. "Yeah, that was a good hit," she says and after a pause she grins and says, "A palpable hit," as she quotes Addams' Family. Then the circling is resumed and she is back in her guard position.

Raise lumbers forward with a slow left hook.

Vic, attempting to dodge the left hook, seems to weave the wrong way and leads her face right into the punch. With her light weight and Raise's strength she is knocked back half a step as she reels from the snap-back motion her head was sent on by the solid contact. She does, however, manage to stay on her feet. Were this a cartoon there would be birds or stars circling her head, as it is she blinks her eyes as she recovers her focus and takes another step back, her guard stance gone and her arms in L-shapes, forearms straight up and upper-arms something close to forty-five degrees out from her torso in a 'I give' position. "Okay, that.... wow... okay, I need to call it. I'd be a mess tonight if I'd not healed the bruises your first punch gave me," she says. "Damn.... that... yeah, glad you're on /my/ side, Raise."

Raise rushes over to steady Vic, "Here let me heal you at least. For me there is no threat of paradox and all." he smiles wide.

Caressa could even see things going wrong from where she sat. Instantly she's on her feet and moving to the edge of the ring, just in case.

Vic nods and accepts the healing. "Plus I already did a healing rote mid-combat... the humming wasn't /just/ to be ballsy after all," she says and then notices the approach of an audience.

Caressa gives Raise some time to work on Vic, "Both of you ok now?"

Raise finishes healing Vic and says, "Get some rest and you will be perfect in a bit."

"If he says I hurt him I'm going to be personally insulted by the gross condescension that statement would have in it," Vic says with a grin and a playful sticking out of her tongue at Raise in answer to Caressa's question. She nods to Raise and says, "Yeah, I'll grab a quick drink... some juice I think... and hit the hay for the night," before she heads in the direction of the apartments.

Raise holds the ropes again to make it easier to get out, "I had fun we should do it again."

Caressa nods and waves to Vic. "Rest well." Saying nothing beyond that which would cause the woman to linger. She looks back to Raise, "Keep thinking I should take you up on your lessons, but time...I can rarely squeeze more of it than I already do."

Vic says, "Definitely," to Raise as she leaves the training area.
