The freehold itself, located within the County of Lion's Reach, is a lonely watchtower in the middle of a large meadow. It has gone through some renovations, and it's reasoning changed over time. While the Duke has left it in the stewardship of Baroness Liazaelyn Blackpool ni Fiona, it has recently been named as the Garrison of the Duchy's Army. The watchtower is located just south of the village of Farrow Glen, connected to the mundane world through a rath that leads to a downtown tavern called 'Steamed and Hammered'. It

Freehold Information

The freehold itself is found in the tall black tower that stands in the middle of a vast green meadow. It is said that the Watchtower was built over a volcanic opening and that within the basement, odd lava-steam-powered engines can be found that offer power to the tower and other contraptions.

Defenders

These huge black red-eyed hounds have come into being as defenders of the Watchtower. Despite resembling enormous dogs, they act very little like household pets; the hounds are completely silent and rarely tolerate 'doggie' behavior such as attention in the form of petting or treats. They have a job to do, and nothing deters them from dangers to the watchtower itself or a threat to its inhabitants. The hounds are known to go across the rath to the tavern adjacent where they keep a blazing red eye upon things, making sure no one who shouldn't stumble through the rath manages to do so. While they operate independently the majority of the time, they have been seen to take direct orders (of admittedly simple commands) from Ethan himself.

Attendants

Ebonwatchtower-attendents.png

An example of the various clockwork and earth golems that attend those around the Watchtower. Occasionally referred to as "clanks", as their metal-and-stone bodies do not move silently about, however they do not speak. They are known to clean, fetch, and even attend however they can. They all seem to run upon some sort of steam engine operating off the lava beneath the freehold, they travel as far as the stables but go no further and have yet to frequent the Autumn World via the rath.

Freehold Units

The units affiliated with the Ebon Watchtower are currently unknown.

Training Field

Spread out around the Ebon Watchtower is a large field where training areas have been set up to train in the use of various weapons; sword, archery, mounted. In a separate area, group formations can be taught and trained without worry that there is lack of room. It is said that future Pennons celebrations will be held for the County of Lion's Reach upon the grounds as well.

Steeds Crossing Stables

The Steeds Crossing Ranch began as the project of Countess Ionae, and was taken over by Baroness Liazaelyn when the Count and Countess left Prospect. Previously, the finest mounts produced were given to those members of the Ducal Army at Ebon Watchtower. However, even with the chimerical attendants, the stables have long since fallen into disarray, and the breeding stock has run wild for many months. As the current caretaker of the adjoining freehold, Ethan has been working to bring the chimera under control. It is put forth that going into the stables unaccompanied is strongly discouraged, the Watchtower will not be responsible for the health and well-being of trespassers.

With a nod of respect to those who worked it previously, the main building of the stables has been left unchanged. There are four wings to the stables, each marked with a specific stone sign. These are Feathers and Hooves (primarily equine and avian), Fangs and Fur (bears and wolves, oh my), Scales (reptiles abound), and Paws and Claws (feline and weasel). Within each, various Chimera have been caught to make up the breeding stock. Most are shades of white, the offspring often of different colors depending on the food fed to the mother while in gestation. Some truly amazing color variations have been seen.
