This is a (not necessarily exhaustive) list of backgrounds that provide your PC with one or more NPCs who can help them in some way.

General

• Allies: One NPC per dot, or fewer but more powerful NPCs
• Contacts: One major NPC per dot, plus some minor NPCs (need not be detailed in advance)
• Mentor: The more dots, the more powerful they are
• Retainers/Followers: One NPC per dot
