• Kinmagi: There is currently a moratorium on Kinfolk who are also Awakened Mages. Always intended to be a rarity, this obviously-popular combination of the Mage and Werewolf spheres has historically lead to more inter-sphere conflicts than any other single concept and has perhaps the highest body count of on-screen PVP kills in City of Hope history, and has thus been disallowed for the foreseeable future. Shifters do not generally do "divided loyalties" well, and Mages are always viewed as a threat to what Gaians hold sacred.

• KinFae: There is currently a moratorium on Kinfolk who are also Changelings.

• Kinfolk-Kinain: This is available only at staff discretion. See +rules Multiclassing (e.g. kinain + kinfolk).

• Kinfolk-Kami: Kami are not created by chance. Its not like a child born between Garou / Kinfolk or Kinfolk / Kinfolk might turn out to be Garou. Gaia creates the Kami, choses them for a mission. If she choses a Kinfolk (and so often, Pure Bred ones), it would actually be a cause to hinder the Kami's true mission. They would have a split alliegance. Their mission or the Garou.

BEFORE STARTING YOUR PC: ALL KINFOLK APPS (Either subrace or from the merit) MUST HAVE A CONCEPT SENT IN A +REQUEST TO STAFF BEFORE YOU CAN BEGIN YOUR +SHEET. WITHOUT PRIOR STAFF APPROVAL OF YOUR CONCEPT, ALL APPS SUBMITTED WILL BE DENIED.

Kinfolk need to do more than just hangout, being breeding stock. They are the face of the Garou Nation with the general public. They need to be useful in some way, contributing to the the Nation. Please do not app a PC just to be someone's mate (or mistress) and NOTHING MORE.

Kinfolk and the Umbra

Questions have come up, and staff would like to reiterate for everyone about the perils of Kinfolk entering the Umbra. While we know some are prepared, most are by far /not/ prepared. Even if a Kinfolk has Gnosis, and thus the ability to sidestep into the penumbra, there are many risks that a squishy human is not ready for. Those include the following: Getting stuck Mental Breakdowns Physical danger from inhabitants of the umbra Death Being Tainted Possession Some players have argued 'but MORE RPZ!' - to which staff replies, you better be RP'ing the danger and understand it becomes risk 3 for the Kinfolk. Anyone running plots where this is just like entering any other room is not doing theme justice. Kinfolk are playable as they are to be the face for the Garou with the rest of the world. Garou should not be out holding regular jobs, meeting the public, etc, as Rage would put people off. That is what Kinfolk are for. So if you want 'MORE RPZ!' then there needs to be a balance in scenes between what the Garou do, and what the Kinfolk do for your PRPs. As a reminder, Kinfolk apps are not approved any longer without Kinfolk being capable of doing something other than reproducing, or being the town bicycle. That does not mean they should try to do the Garou's job and be a monster hunter in the umbra and other realms. Are there ways that they can participate? Certainly! But most Kinfolk are not going to be able to, not without a LOT of build up. Want examples? Talk to staff.

• All Kinfolk receive Lore for their type at 2 dots. This will not count toward your total spent in Primary Knowledge Abilities. As we do not allow Lost Kinfolk concepts, do not lower that stat.

Tribe:

• If you side with the Wyrm, then set Faction = Wyrm and Tribe = Black Spiral Dancer. (If you ICly belonged to a different tribe in the past, then put that in a +note.)
• All others, set Faction = Gaian. (If you're multiclassing and ICly consider your kinfolk-ness secondary, then use your race or subrace's chargen rules instead.)

Black Spiral Dancer Kinfolk with Pure Breed are not allowed as PCs:

• Pure Breed kinfolk's children are more likely to be shifters.
• Pure Breed kinfolk can be auto-identified as such by all Garou shifters (Gaian or BSD) on sight.
• Black Spiral Dancers lack Gaian ethics/morals.
• Thus, the likely fate of Black Spiral Dancer kinfolk with Pure Breed ranges from 'kept on a tight leash away from all mortal society, lest they be seen by Gaian Garou shifters', to 'kept as breeding stock in a deep, dark underground tunnel'.
• We consider this unsuitable for PCs, as their RP would either be too limited, or require too much suspension of disbelief to explain why they weren't so limited.
