"I am not a destroyer of companies, I am a liberator of them!

The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed in all of its forms. Greed for life, money, love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind, and greed – you mark my words – will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the U.S.A.

Thank you very much."

Setting

Pentex has their tentacles in many Businesses, aka Subsidiaries around the world. Within Prospect, there are divisions of King Breweries and Distilleries, Magadon Pharmaceuticals, and O'Tolley's Family Restaurant. They all are part of Pentex, but with their own goals, means, and funding.

New players should reach out to one of the players listed on the main Pentex page for one of the on grid Subsidiaries prior to character generation, should you be interested in joining with them for their stories. If you wish to follow storyline and get recruited, that can happen too!

Character Generation

If you are starting from cgen as a member of Pentex, you should set the following with your +sheet with these commands:

  • +selfstat Affiliation=Pentex
  • +selfstat Pentex Subsidiary= (Pick one of the following: King Breweries, Magadon, or O'Tolley's )
    • Other subsidiaries are currently run by NPCs. Discuss with staff if you want to join one of those.
    • Working directly for Pentex (not for a subsidiary) is reserved for NPCs.
  • +selfstat Pentex Department= (set according to your subsidiary's standards - see their pages linked above)
  • Players are allowed to start with Pentex Rank (a Background) at 1, to differentiate them from NPCs.
    • Advancement opportunities beyond 1 are determined by your subsidiary.
    • Players are encouraged to contact their future department head(s) during chargen or before recruitment to discuss concept, placement in the organization, and advancement opportunity.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions by players outside of the Pentex organization

Q: What if I don't like dark themes in my RP?
A: Pentex may not be for you.

Q: What if I don't like specific dark themes in my RP?
A: In general, players should respect your specific RP preferences. We're all here to have fun, and if your RP isn't fun, it defeats the purpose. However, bad things happen to antagonist characters, and bad things will probably happen to your character as well. If those bad things are something you don't want to play out on screen, usage of +policy Hand Waving is encouraged.

Q: What if someone doesn't want to Fade to Black, or otherwise doesn't respect my RP preferences regarding adult themes?
A: If the problem is bad enough, contact staff. Otherwise, the usage of Fade to Black does not require the consent of both parties, and if you would like to make use of it, your RP partner should respect the choice and work out what happens OOCly.

Q: Should I tell people outside of Wyrm that I work for Pentex?
A: Generally this is a terrible idea. Players are encouraged to say that you work for (name of your Subsidiary) instead.

Q: Can I play a Pentex character that isn't in the IC Pentex structure (report to someone off screen)?
A: PCs leading a subsidiary/department may report directly to NPCs (run by staff) if there are no other PCs above them. All other PCs working for a subsidiary report to at least one PC leader at some point in their chain of command. Working directly for Pentex (not for a subsidiary) is reserved for NPCs.

Q: Will I have to be implanted with a bomb of some type?
A: No. Implanted bombs are generally only utilized for potential flight risks.

Q: Will my RP be restricted in some way? (Imprisoned, only allowed to RP with other Pentex members, etc)
A: No. Pentex also has to obey the Risk policy. The only time RP may be restricted is when your RP threatens the Faction in some form or fashion (Veil breach, outing personnel to other Factions, etc.), or if it makes IC sense and you agree to it.

Q: What if I don't like, or have a falling out with, my supervisor or Division Head?
A: Pentex has multiple subsidiaries/departments. If for some reason you have an OOC issue or incompatibility with one of your PC leaders, you're allowed to transfer to another.
