Hashim Balawi (for all his exotic sounding name) is an American citizen, his family has been for generations. That didn't hardly matter after 9/11 and all of a sudden everyone acted like Hashim had something to prove. He wound up switching from pre-med to joining the army as a combat medic, he'd always been an athletic sort and no stranger to discipline so it wasn't any great hardship.
He proved to have a knack for it and even spec ops needs field medics. He wound up going a lot of places he never was and doing a lot of things he never did. When the time came to readjust to civilian life he didn't take it well. He got a job in the Prospect M.E.'s office but a lot of the strange and senseless deaths that'd come through the morgue coupled with the PTSD symptoms drove him to take his own life. This opened the window for the escape of Garuel, the Black Mercy, from the Abyss. Now they're both dealing with how much everything's changed but doing better together than either would alone.

- No offense intended, but if you consider yourself a 'Grey' or 'Black' Hat character that thinks reasonable consequences from another PC for your schemes and shenanigans mean I'm not playing the World of Darkness properly then I'm probably not super interested in RPing with you. I don't care if you think I'm a wet blanket but I am going to play my character that's just as in genre as yours, just a different part of genre than yours. Remember the IC rules of the Veil and the masqurade exist for a reason and on a game where all plots are player driven most of those reasons are going to be other PCs.
