Description
The Halloween Party at Babylon has taken some time to prepare and coordinate. Normally with the floating club, they will set up in a vacant warehouse space for a week and gone the next. With Halloween and the larger crowds expected they had to find a warehouse with adequate space, power and facilities to accommodate their needs. The entire third floor of a warehouse in the downtown area has been renovated and decorated for tonight's event.
As you enter the room you see that they have the preserved the usual layout of tables along the wall opposite the entrance with a bar to your right, booths to the left and the stage along the far, right wall. Lighting rigs have been constructed to illuminate and cast shadows over various parts of the warehouse to create the proper mood for tonight and to differentiate the event from 'just another night' at Babylon. Each section has its corresponding color of lighting which mix and blur with the decorations.
The Bar area is lit by a series of cool blue lights and has a cool, skeletal and undead theme associated with it. The bartenders are dressed in black with skin-tight, skeletal t-shirts with skull-face makeup to complete their look. The drinks are served in a variety of containers and many have been tinted to glow with blue LEDs in the base or stem of the cup.
The stage area with the live band is lit by a vibrant, orange-yellow glow and has a pseudo jack-o-lantern theme to it. Though difficult to see through all of the intense lighting rigs, the stage is surrounded by small pumpkin lanterns that also emit a orange-yellow glow to illuminate the boundaries of the platform so the performers don't wander too close and accidentally fall.
The tables, where people can rest their dancing feet, enjoy their drinks and company is illuminated by a goblin-green series of soft lights that casts spooky shadows here and there. Several of the tables have small mounted to their tops with LED lights to simulate something bubbling inside.
The dance floor, center, is light directly by a series of blue-white LEDs mounted to a lighting grid hanging over head and to the side.
Nearby and in the corner between the stage and the bar is the DJ booth for when the live performers need a break. The booth has an arch of lighting rigs behind and over the stations so that he can see and be seen by others.
Setting
Read here what has happened so far if you come in late:
The party started, quite literally, after the sun went down. Once the city was officially bathed in darkness and the street lights turned on, the warehouse at the corner of Broadway and Second streets lit up with their projected light show to advertise their Halloween Party. The music is playing, the drinks are flowing, the costumes range from classical, 1920's flappers to the latest in latex-based creature makeup. A prize will be awarded later in the evening for funniest costume, scariest and sexiest.
The pale blue lights of the dance floor flash and pulse in time with the music while the soft, erie, green glow of the lights over the tables remain constant. People begin circulating in and around the floor - just getting the feel for the place. Not everyone has come in costume - some have come in normal 'street' clothes and in some cases, less. Guys and gals dressed in skimpy underwear wander around the floor enjoying the freedom that tonight brings.
The DJ-controlled music pauses for a moment as a live band, a local product that's been making the scene lately called 'Steel Snowflake', starts to play. The band's lead singer, a tall, willowy girl with fire for hair and porcelain for skin grabs the mic and stands center stage as the orange-yellow lights kick up as some god-aweful notes comes out of some strange horn-like instrument played by a guy in the back.

The crowd seems to respond well to the live band. Not that the DJ is bad but it's just fun to have a real band for big events like this. After the tall, willowy girl finishes her song, the band takes a moment to reorganize itself and now a young guy walks up to the front, center of the stage and takes the mic. With hair that's a bit too long for his face and pants that are tight enough that you could probably tell his religion, he starts to let his sultry, voice call out the first lyrics of their second song. "...Running up that Hill," the band echoes in chorus.

Once the band has played their three songs, the DJ takes back over so that they can have a rest. The music starts off with a spotlight hitting the corner of the room that's on the opposite side of the stage. Six women, all dressed as witches complete with their booms, start to walk - nay...STALK, towards the center of the dance floor in choreographed steps until they find the center. While the music plays from the surrounding speakers, the witches begin to entice the men (and some of the women) in the audience by flirting with their brooms as though they were a modified stripper pole.
The erotic-witches were quite a sight. Their costumes were skimpy and revealing but not overly so. How they used their 'brooms' as props still has several guys, and a few of the gals, wanting to go take a ride with a 'witchy woman' and see how high she flies. That being said, and not to let the guys be out matched, the six guys who were wandering around the room acting as Shot-Boys have set down their trays on the bar and stalked out into the center of the dance floor under the glow of the blue-white lights. The music, though not sung by a guy, is definitely high-tempo. The men, even the young one named 'Never', spin, girate and entice the woman, and a few men, to watch and enjoy themselves.

The men finish their song and the audience applauds. Several of the guys walk out to quickly score some tips from the men and women holding up folded bills. Pappa gotta get PAID. While the music is in a lull in between songs, the crowd's natural thrum of conversations, movement and the like is suddenly split by A blood-curdling scream. Not a hollywood scream but a real, 'Oh god, something's wrong and I'm going to die' scream. The audience isn't sure if its part of the performances or if it's something real. Another scream - and yes, it's a real one from a woman over by the bathrooms in the far corner. Eight beasts can be seen stalking through the audience with a near-feral gate. Standing easily over seven feet in height and with reverse-bending legs, the beasts look like some kind of human-like wolf with long claws, pointed ears and mouths that drip saliva as their maws snap at nearby patrons.

Music starts to kick up in the background - as though the DJ had a set already arranged and didn't think to hit stop when everthing began to go wrong and people panic. From the -ceiling-, five men, each dressed in leather trench coats with GLOWING blue eyes, drop down with a feline grace and without making a sound. As if they possessed some kind of supernatural grace, they each land in a line as if in opposition to the oncoming beasts. They look sleek, mean and ready for a fight. People scatter getting out of their way so that the center of the dance floor is open in case a fight breaks out.

As if on cue, the Beasts charge into the dance floor's open spot to take down the vamps. The vamps charge in to kill the werewolves and....what happens can only be described as an affront to the senses.
(OOC Link: http://tinyurl.com/nxtpsha )
The beasts and the vamps all intermingle upon the dance floor and begin a choreographed version of Michael Jackson's Thriller. The audience loses their mind. Applause, curses and cheers rise up from the crowd as the last 'act' of the Halloween party kicks into full gear.
After the beasts and vampires have cleared the stage, the entertainment manager - a man named Frank - grabs the mic on the stage and tries to get everyone's attention. "Well, did everyone have a good time tonight?" He calls out to the cheers and hoops of the audience. "Tonight," Frank continues, "...we had a few contests. Our Backers have phoned in and told us who they have chosen for the three prizes of Sexiest, Most Scariest and Funiest." He pauses a bit to read off from some index cards on who has won what. Beside him, the stripper witches and dancing shot-boys fan out on the stage and hold cauldrons which appear to be the prizes. "And the Backers have decided, that for the Sexiest costume tonight...it's Miss Elvira...queen of the night! Come on up here!"
Elvira crosses her legs and sits back against the bar, then blinks when the wolves and the vampers start to... dance. Feeling the complete idiot for thinking they were real wolves, she's blushing pretty bad when they call out the winner of the sexiest costume. "Huh, I wonder who tha--" Wait. "Are you kidding me?" Looking down to make sure she's still really not falling out of the dress, she goes beet red. "Oh god." Maybe no one will notice her if she slumps down a bit, one hand raised to shield her face.
Frank, standing up on the stage, sends two of the shot-boys into the crowd to 'help' Elvira up out of her chair and up so that she can claim her prize. No doubt that she is exhausted from running through all the guys minds. "Come on folks, make her feel welcome."
Oh no! They found her! Looking left and right, she tries to find an escape route, but no. At least the pale face makeup helps hide some of that blush, right? Casting a 'save me!' look back towards the Knight, Elvia shuffles along between the two gents escorting her to the stage. Should have gone home to raid on the computer. Ventrilo would be less shameful.
After Elvira -finally- makes it onto the stage, one of the dancing shot-boys walks over to her and hands her the large, plastic cauldron as her prize. A quick photo is taken (which seems odd as Babylon usually frowns on people having cameras of any kind) of the winner and her hunk of a prize-holder and the man escorts her off the stage.%R%R"Now...," Frank continues, "...For Funniest Costume. The Backers have decided that Mister Pink Bunny Man," he reads off the cards, "is the winner!" The audience turns and searches for the person named and eventually spots Harvey with his pink fur and rabbit tail. "Come on up here man and claim your prize!"
Harvey blinks as he is singled out and directed to the stage. He hops over, apparently having springs in his legs.
Frank, standing up on the stage, sends two of the witches into the crowd to 'help' Harvey up out of his chair and up so that he can claim his prize. No doubt that he is exhausted from all that...well, you know what bunnys do. "Come on folks, make him feel welcome."
After Harvey spring-hops his way onto the stage, one of the dancing witches walks over to him and hands over the large, plastic cauldron as his prize and bends forward to plant a small kiss upon his little pink nose. Another quick photo is taken of the winner and his two beautiful prize-helpers escorts him off the stage.
"And lastly...," Frank continues, "...the Scariest Costume." He breathes a little heavy - as though this was worrying him. Pulling out a handkerchief he dabs his forehead a bit before finishing his thought. "The Backers have decided that," and he has to pause to lean in to read the words on the card because they don't exactly make sense. "Uh... creepy grandfather guy with the little girl puppet..." He looks around, "Who the hell is that?" Checking the card once more he reads off the last of the card again and adds, "is the winner!" The audience turns and searches for the person named and eventually spots Sebastion with his pink fur and rabbit tail. "Come on up here uh...'man' and claim your prize!"
"Yes Grace, we won." he says softly as he rises, "Tonight, I be Albert Fish my good man." as he chuckles and makes his way to the stage. Before reaching he violently pulls forth the puppet sowed onto his side and rips the head from it. He bites into the stuffing and pulls the cotton out maddening before reliquishining a smile to the Audience. "The name is Sebastion, Frank." as he approaches the stand.
This time there were no escorts that left the stage to help the winner up. Nope. Both the shot boys, including the younger one named 'Never' stand stock-still as though they weren't going to approach the scary winner with a ten-foot pole. Frank, nervously 'urges' the remaining cast members - the four witches and four shot-boys - to gather around Sebastion for the photo. Once complete, Never presents the man with the cauldron and helps walk him off stage since no one else seems willing.
The headless doll lies torn ripped from its body. Sebastion is led away by Never to recieve his prize. A sound comes from the dolls head, "I'll be back." with a chuckle at the end,.
Once the prizes are awarded, Frank vacates the stage and the DJ picks back up with the music to play for another hour to let people filter out and leave the party in their own time and in their own way. The 'stripper witches' circulate around the party now that their job is done. The shot boys are off the clock and are able to go flirt and hang out with whomever they'd like. The beasts and the vampires even make their own fun by posing with several people around the party for candid pictures.
Happy Halloween!
Prizes
The prize bucket from the Halloween Party at Babylon was, as you remember, given to you in a large, plastic cauldron. About the size of an average kid's candy bucket for Halloween, the cauldron is full of free samples of this and that from businesses around town. Gift certificates for restaurants, rent-a-car places and the like are strewn in the mixture of fun. Then - after you've been digging and digging, at the very bottom of the bucket - taped on the bottom is a golden envelope. Within it is an invitation to join Babylon's elite club. This is, essentially, a free pass to all of the exclusive parties and things thrown at Babylon that is not available or known to the public. All told - you probably made off with about a thousand dollars in prizes.
