Does one nervous little need some assistance in getting proper Court attire? Certainly! Luckily for them, after their previous meeting, Azel inivted them up to their suite in the building to help "fix" this problem. They were vague, only saying that they had someone who could help them get what they needed. But, sure enough, when Eddie arrives at the hotel room, a certain brown-haired man wearing a very nice suit would answer. "Greetings. Eddie, I presume? You may come in, Azel is getting their stone polished currently."
Eddie enters the room, looking around the suite with visable surprise. Taking a hand up and down the side of his head, he gives the man the cloest thing he can to a smile. "I am Eddie. You are...?" He asks, looking for a place to set his jacket. Something did cross his mind, visable. "Polished? Like--" He makes a gesture, like polishing a car.
The man gestures to the coat rack by the entrance of the fancy hotel room. "You may place it there. I am Drake, one of Azel's Ghouls. And yes, of course. You do not think their marble flesh takes care of itself, do you?"
Eddie nods, hanging up his jacket. "Nice to meet you Drake." He turned, giving his best andric smile to the ghoul. "I didn't mean that as a slight, I thought- actually, giving it more thought, that makes a perfect amount of sense." He takes a quick, break.
Drake turns away, letting out a deep breath before walking over to the door to the bathroom. "Azel. Would you like to come out? You know I work better when I can focus." Eddie can hear him say. `Very well. Get his measurements and get to work, then I'll come greet him.` Drake turns back, pulling a smile back onto his face before pulling a tape measure from a bag on a nearby table. "Hold up your arms. This won't take long, hopefully...."
Eddie extends his arms. "I'm going to have to apologize about the uh, tag-alongs." He watches Drake carefully. "Did you make Azel their clothes?" He asks, trying it keep still, despite the irritances crawling up and down his back and neck.
"It's fine, it's fine..." Drake says, pulling the tape up to hover near the Nosie's arms and legs, though making clear effort not to touch. He jots a few notes down on his pad along the way. "I did, yes. I learned how to make such specialized attire first with their sire, but he has others, so I came here with Azel. Yours will not take long at all since I can simply modify an existing suit. What is your preferred color palette? I think a hat would do you some good too... I'll have to see what I have, but is there any there you like as well?"
Eddie rubs his chin for a minute, thinking. "I'm gonna say, I think I'd look good with something maroon. I think." He nods at the hat suggestion. "That's a good idea. Maybe a bowler hat? At those in style or is that a bit tacky? I...never got into fancy dress events."
"Maroon. I have a red suit that should be close enough, yes. But a bowler hat... hm, I think I may have one similar." He begins to pick up the bag, walking to the next room. "And I have seen many kindred with many different senses of styles... the most important thing is showing you care about yourself, if you ask me. Now if you will excuse me...."
Then, just like that, he's gone. There's a tad bit of still silence before the clack clack of giant talons against tile can be heard and Azel emerges from the bathroom, ducking under the doorframe. Unlike before in their snazzy purple suit, now they are... naked? They seem to not care about this, however, eyes glancing between Eddie and the room the tailor has left into. `Greetings again, Eddie~`
Eddie looks up at Azel, his eyebrow raised. "Good evening, Azel. I'd like to thank you for this." He scratches his neck, face twitching in delight from getting a itch of particually annoying quality. "I'm excited to look my best for court. To make sure the Hidden Clan is represented well." He seems a little puffed up with pride.
Azel looks him over, their own body shining with the texture of polished granite from the tip of their horns all the way down to their tail tip. `Yes, it is especially important in this praxis, I have seen it. And I do enjoy seeing how your "hidden clan" members all look unique, much like my own do. Are those... things on you... friends? I know your kind has a particular affinity for creatures.`
Eddie shakes his head. "Not friends. I fell asleep in a sewer of...ill=repute, and woke up with them feeding on me. They're even resistant to animalism, so I kind of put up with it." He sighs, shrugging. "They make my thirst worst, but at least I'm never alone. I uh, try to look on the night side, y'know?"
`So they are pests. Why do you not berid of them? You crave company that much?` Azel asks bluntly. `I would not suffer something feeding on me such, not that they could....`
Eddie shakes his head. "It's me accepting I can't get rid of them. They always come back." He looks up. "But, you know what is one good thing about them? If someone really pisses me off, I know what to leave on their bed." He scratches his neck, sighing.
Azel lets out an ambiguous gravely, growly noise at that. Maybe it's a laugh? Who knows. `An interesting curse. At least it has a use, yes... but tell me then, what is your preferred method of finding prey and feeding?`
Eddie looks a little ashamed. "I look for lone people on the street. I obfuscate to get close to them, then feed. Sometimes I take on different forms so I'm not so obvious...Then I feed once I know we're safe from prying eyes. I'm working up the courage to hunt in nightclubs, but I just can't find the right...I don't know." He shrugs.
Azel nods some. `Hiding yourself from sight and ambushing is the most efficient if you ask me. Sure, I could craft a perception of myself to lure, but why do such when you can simply take them? Nightclubs are overrated, you do not need anything from there.` Azel rrrrrms for a moment. `But how do you avoid your true self being seen by cameras around?`
Eddie taps his head. "That's something me and my ghoul worked out. While I'm resting during the day, he looks for traffic cameras, private cameras, and notes down which streets have them, and where. So far, I've marked out a few that I'm careful enough to avoid." He seems pretty proud of himself, actually. "Plus, to be safe, I usually have the hood up on my jacket when I hunt, which helps just a little bit I hope.."
Azel considers this, walking past Eddie, towards the door. `Careful work, this is good. Locks you down quite a bit, though, I could never be so... limited. I have my own trick for avoiding such... I render myself both physicall and mentally invisible at once.` The great wings on Azel's back stretch out for a bit as they lift their claws above their head and -snap- their neck from side to side. `Speaking of, would you like to vcome to the roof with me while Drake works? You can come back down and retrive your items afterwards.`
Eddie follows Azel, watching the Gargoyle with curiosity. "And I'd like to come to the roof with you. Hopefully there's a rail up there." He gives a soft chuckle, hoping his joke lands, as he cracks his back.
Azel leads Eddie to the scure elevator, which thankfully is big enouugh to where they don't have to slouch -too- much as they make their way up to the rooftop access. `There is... not quite a rail. But do not worry, you are not that clumsy, are you?~` They trill, leading them out like they know the way well by now once the elevator's arrived. The night greets them with a chilly wind blowing, stars mueddled under the light pollution of the city, but many blinking lights of building spires and planes serving in their place. Azel's body demeanor seems to change almost immediately, growing less up-tight, showing off the full extend of their huge gait and lashing tail. `A lovely night, isn't it?`
Eddie closes his eyes, soaking in the breeze. "It's a very lovely night out." After a few long moments, he looks up at Azel. "It's funny. I spend all night skulking in the sewers, I kinda forget what it's like to see the city from above."
Azel steps from the center of the building's roof, tipped with all sorts of utilities and metal structures sticking up, slowly, deliberately, more towards the edge. At the sewer comment, their tail lashes a bit more... violently... to one side in the air, making a whistling noise. `Sewer... I do not envy you there. My talons were not meant to be on the filth of the human streets and understreets.`
Eddie watches their tail lash. "It's a living. Better in a sewer than in an ash-tray." He looks at their stony-skin, holding for a second before asking something. "Do you feel pain? Or does your skin kind of deaden it? I'm just curious." He looks back over the city, trying to spot landmarks from the ground he can reconize from so high up.
Azel turns their head, glancing at Eddie with those crimson eyes which glow against the blackness of the night. `I feel pain. Rarely. The more my kind embrace our nature, the harder our flesh grows... mine is not yet to the strength my sire has, nowhere near. Perhaps if you felt it, you would understand....`
Eddie nods. He looks at the glowing eyes, scratching his neck. "I know you probably get this a lot, but you're cool." He makes a gesture with his hands, like bat wings spreading out. "Scary. But cool." He seems to want to ask something, but it's unclear what.
`Cool. Yes. My flesh is as cool as wind-blown stone. How did you know?` They inquire, eyes trailing the gesture. The wings tiwtch a bit before creaking... then expanding out as he gestures. The top and bottom of the edges have points that look like they could cause serious damage even alone. `I am scary to you, yes? Many feel such, more multiple reasons... but I embrace it.`
Eddie looks at them, thinking. "A little scary. I mean, I could make a glass of milk curdle by sneaking up on it, so I'm used to scary. But I like your outlook. We can't change what we are, so w...I, need to accept it." He looks up at her. "May I touch your wing? I'm curious about your skin now, if you don't mind."
Azel stares at them after they make that first statement for a long while. `Good. That is the first step.` Then, they stand up a bit straighter, letting hteir wings come to a resting, yet still open, position at their sides. `Go ahead. Let it be a lesson....`
Eddie extends his hand, stroking their wing. "If you ever get a computer, and need someone to set it up? I'll do it for free. Anything I can help you with, just let me know." He gives her one of his half smiles, trying to twist his leechlike orifice into a grin.
The flesh is smooth, with a fine grit to it, almost like a whetstone. It is ice-cold, even moreso than normal for a vampire. No sign of life at all, like a proper walking statue. With how heavy they seem, it begs the question how they can fly at all. All the while, Azel stares down at Eddie, unblinking. `Computer person... yes, I presumed. My Ghouls handle the communications, mainly, as my claws do not work on screens and tend to break keyboards. They are too small, too frail... but yes, I may call upon you sometime. When I extend kindness, it is with purpose. The same goes for ruthlessnesses. Whatever you are doing, do it with no doubts in your mind.`
Eddie nods. "i won't bother you with questions." He nods, pulling his hands back. "If you don't mind me bringing back up an earlier topic though, you hunt by turning completely invisable?" He tilts his head to the side slightly.
Azel doesn't answer this, merely turning, then leaning right over onto all fours. They walk forwards in this stance very naturally, further invoking the image of some unnatural, horrifying beast. When reaching near the edge, they turn, standing up once more to face Eddie. `Drake will be done with your suit and hat. I advise you go collect it immediately so that he does not have to wait. As for me, I will be getting a snack before court...` Then, right as they say this, their skin starts to -change-... going from light grey, to darker, yet darker, until it seems there's nothing but the night... and a vague silhouette of wings opening up in mimickry of it. `One night, I will show you how to hunt properly....` Then, just like that, the silhouetted falls backwards off the edge, no trace of anything left but the black sky.
Eddie watches them take off, before turning and going back to the elevator. Shaking their head in visable amazement, they return to Azel's suite. They open the door, and look for Drake.
