5/24/2023 11:03:51 There's a light jingle of a bell as Aleysa steps into the Weeping Fern, taking a deep breath of the many smells: incense and herbs and fresh baked bread. Just for half a second before she's quickly stepping out of the way of the main door and beginning to inspect some of the dried herbs stocked up immediately to the left.

5/24/2023 11:07:12 Viktor follows in right behind Aleysa, one eyebrow arching as his eyes sweep around the inside of the shop. He hesitates, feeling for a moment like he stepped into a bakery or organic cooking supply shop instead of a drug store. "Uhhh, what supplies were you looking to get here, again?"

5/24/2023 11:08:35 Mary follows too. She has the opposite reaction. She grins happily and starts to move around the store with a lot of energy, checking things out. "This place is great!"

5/24/2023 11:13:46 "Well for one, I need some ginseng. And not like the sort that you buy in the little capsules at the supermarkets," Aleysa wrinkles her nose at the thought of the mass market supplements. "What sort were you needed?" She asks, though clear enough that she knows this wasn't the sort of pharmacy he was expecting. Mary however, gets a wink of greeting.

5/24/2023 11:20:08 Viktor looks around at the shelves in a bit more detail before answering. "I was planning to restock on hemostatic dressings and Narcan, actually. I'm guessing they won't carry that here..."
5/24/2023 11:20:08 He pauses and turns around to look at the other two and grins at their apparently euphoric reactions. "I can see why you two like it though. And it is a nice looking place. It smells great too. I think maybe I'll just change course and go with picking up some bread and jam, instead."

5/24/2023 11:21:57 Mary takes in a deep breath then grins at Viktor. "It does. This just ... feels great. This is the kinda stuff I NEED to learn." She fondles some of the plants and leans in frequently to smell things.

5/24/2023 11:29:30 "Not quite," Aleysa laughs a little as she looks around the place. "But disinfectants can be found. Think I heard before something about the phenolic compounds in fennel is both anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial."

5/24/2023 11:38:08 Viktor's cheek twitches and he has to consciously separate his teeth to keep them from gritting. He takes a breath, and gets his smile back under control as the pair have their fun. "Thanks, but I'll stick with my own tried and true methods. I'll just keep that in mind for emergencies, if I'm out of other supplies." He turns toward the foodie section of the store, old rants about alternative medicine waving at him as they run though his memory. He keeps them away from his mouth though, not wanting to offend present company.

5/24/2023 11:39:52 Mary moves over when Aleysa starts to talk, eyes wide as she soaks it in. "Hey do you need like any help here? I'd love to learn. Selene is going to teach me but I feel like I've got a tone of catching up to ... Vik? You OK?"

5/24/2023 11:46:02 Aleysa just rolls her eyes even as she inspects at a variety of roots. "Tried and true for what... a hundred and fifty years?" She wiggles the ginseng his way. "The Classic of the Materia Medica was written about 200 hundred AD. Over a millenia of use..." And then a whisper to Mary, "Have you done any reading on the older herbalries?"

5/24/2023 11:54:02 Viktor turns back and nods, getting his twitchiness under better control. He smiles good naturedly as he surrenders. "I'm fine, just a little out of my element. I will concede that point your point has validity. I'm going to give up now, especially since I'm outnumbered and this is your home field. I'm just glad you're both finding what you like."

5/24/2023 11:57:01 Mary looks back and forth at the two of you. She tries a little humor, pretending to adopt a boxing pose. If you know how to box it's clear she does not. "That's right. Out numbered and surrounded." She laughs at herself then winces a bit, confessing to Aleysa "I've only recently started reading them. That kinda stuff wasn't allowed in the house back home."

5/24/2023 12:01:22 Aleysa accepts the surrender with a pleasant laugh and a brighter smile. "Some of it is just silly. Like thieves oil won't cure absolutely everything. Anything being presented as a panacea is most likely horribly overselling what could possibly be effective at one specific thing." She gives a little shrug. "But there is a lot of things that do work. Things which share a basis with the more... conventional pharmacology. If you got questions as you're reading them, don't hesitate to ask. We all tend to work a little differently. pick up our own favorites for certain applications though others might work too..."

5/24/2023 12:05:27 Viktor looks over at Mary's reference to home. "You weren't even allowed books about plants? Did they really only allow the one book in the house?"

5/24/2023 12:07:56 Mary shuffles a little and toys with her fingers. "No. I mean not just that one. But it was a pretty, um, limited reading list." She clears her throat and gets some paper from her purse. "Can I get your contact info?" she asks Aleysa.

5/24/2023 12:11:31 "Surprised your not just buried away in a library or bookstore twenty four seven, trying to soak up all the reading you weren't able to do then," Aleysa offers gently towards Mary. "It's so easy to get lost in the world of books. And of course." She'll take the paper and write down her name and number, not quite cursive but very legible.

5/24/2023 12:15:12 Viktor nods at Aleysa's comment, thinking the same thing. "Hmmm, I suppose both of you probably prefer reading on physical books instead of electronic? One of those I can share more easily, no points for guessing which one."

5/24/2023 12:18:14 Mary looks at the paper then writes down her own to pass over. She shrugs, thinking. "I'm a regular at the Wyldmand library on campus. I'm there a lot." She can't help but laugh."But I've got lots of sins to catch up on so I'm not there ALL the time." She thinks about Viktor's command. "I'm not like against it. If you could help me get set up. He got my apartment connected to the Internet." She tells this to Aleysa with a 'he's my hero' sort of tone.
