Johnathan shakes his head "I mostly been working on costumes so not had to much time to expand any of the lines. I have a student that made a line, but its more in the pink gothic lolita kind of style, don't think it is something you would enjoy love". Johnathan is standing behind the counter as Caressa is wandering the store
Caressa shakes her head, then winks back at Johnathan, "Not looking for myself." She turns to browse the racks in the menswear and fetish sections.
Decked out in shades of black from head to toe (translucent black blouse over a strapless black bra, black miniskirt over black crushed velvet tights and black Doc Martin boots with a splash of color in the form of purple laces, even her nails are black with glossy polish), Parker steps into Velvet Dreams and glances around the shop while remaining standing near the door.
Johnathan smiles to Caressa "I see" looking to the chime "Welcome to Velvet Dreams, if you need any assistance do not hesitate to ask" offering a nod to Parker
Caressa smirks and makes a point out of examining a very racy little number. A giggle escapes, and she places the item back on the rack.
Parker smiles and walks over to the counter where Johnathan stands. "Are you the proprietor of this shop, sir?" she asks of him.
Johnathan nods to Parker "I am indeed, I am the owner, designer and tailor of this store. Why do you ask?" tilting his head. A small grin as Caressa goes through the mens sections.
Caressa peeks around a rack while something in her hands makes soft snapping sounds. Either like a metal snap being opened and closed, or leather slapping on itself.
Parker says, "I'm new to the city and was looking for boutiques like this one." She glances around, "Not specifically this deomgraphic but its quite appealing." Returning her gaze to the owner she adds, "Your's is the most easily found and well known apparently."
Johnathan smiles "I take great pride in my work and quality, and glad to hear that the store is known. So how can I help you then miss?" looking to her curiously
Caressa puts whatever she was playing with away and keeps browsing.
"I want to help," Parker says, "I'm a clothier myself, even make fabric in addition to clothing. Will you take on a junior partner, sir?"
Johnathan smiles "Oh really? Well I do have a program where I let young students produce a line of clothing under their own mark and under the Velvet Dream brand. Do you have a portfolio?"
Caressa returns to the stool at the end of the counter. Once settled she retrieves a sketchpad, and is content to let the two talk shop.
"Sure do, outside on my bike," Parker says. "I'll get it if you'd like," she further offers, continuing to keep her attention focusedon Johnathan.
Johnathan nods "Go get it, I would love to look it over" he looks to Caressa with a smile then back to Parker letting her go and get it.
Caressa smiles over at Johnathan, then goes back to sketching. She's not hiding it, it appears to be pieces of jewelry she's sketching.
Returning the nod as if she didn't expect anything less, Parker turns quickly and heads back outside only to return a moment later carrying a sketchpad herself. Unlike a pure art sketchpad this has fabric swatches and thread tips visible among the leaves of the book. She walks back up to the counter and lays the book down upon it.
Flipping it open to the first page there is a rough sketch of a woman in a suit that is such a dark green that it is nearly black, one half is drawn as pants the other as a knee-length skirt with a dividing line clearly indicating that these are alternatives. The suit jacket has a flaired collar design and there's a pale mint cream shirt depicted beneath it. Affixed to the page is a fine yellow strand of string, a swatch of dark green fabric in a tweel pattern that still managers to feel as soft and light as silk and a similar swatch of nearly white, mint cream silk fabric. Both swatches have a hem on one end sewn tightly with the same pale yellow thread.
"Examples of my designs and materials," Parker says, as if it isn't self explanatory.
Johnathan looks it over with a nod touching the fabrics and studies the diffrent designs "Do you have your own equipment?" looking to the silk and feeling it "You make these?"
"Its still being shipped to the city," Parker says with a nod, "But yes, I wove the fabrics myself and did the work." She frowns at the art and admits, "My skecthing is fairly simple, my talent is more for the making of clothing rather than drawing it, but its an ability I am working on improving."
Caressa looks up to glance towards the book but doesn't strain to get a glimpse either. She's rather content watching the transaction.
Johnathan nods "Well if you need I do have a fully functional workshop if you need something. Only seen silk like this once before." he smirks and offers a hand to her "Johnathan Oneiroi, so you would want to get a line under the Velvet Dream branch? The contract is pretty straight forward, a 10 cut of all sales, you retain 90 your name and the name of your line will be displayed along with the Velvet Dream brand, you retain copyrights, but extend a licence to sell your designs" he looks to Caressa "Come and have a look.. and feel these silks." motioning to Caressa "This is my wife Caressa"
Parker finally turns and looks at the other woman and nods to her. "Hi," she says and finally interoduces herself, "I'm Parker." She then adds, "Parker Morales," more as if remembering than a nod to double-oh seven's normal introduction method. "I actually don't have a brand name selected so far," she explains further.
Caressa puts down her sketch pad and moves closer. Silver-violet eyes looking to Parker then to the fabric which she reaches to touch. "Very nice. So finely woven. Must have taken forever." She smiles warmly, offering the woman a nod instead of a handshake.
Johnathan nods "That is not an issue, and its only for the line not your own personal brand. It will be a subbrand for the store, that way people know who it is from." he motions to a rack "There you have Sublime by Mary Thomsson, and there you have Rockabilly Slick by Zed Harmond" looking to her "They are lines at Velvet Dreams not their personal brand. Pleanty of time to develop that. And if you need pointers for design and techniques I can help you with that as well"
"Thank you, Caressa," Parker acknowledges the compimient and the suggestion with a nod. Addressing Johnathan she says, "Flip to the back page, I have a sample of my denim-silk. I've an idea of making slacks, skirts, jackets and the like out of it. Similar to common denim items but made out of this material rather than normal cotton-denim." She then asks, "Do you feel that would have a place here or should I reserve that for my own brand entirely?"
Johnathan nods slowly and looks in the back to feel the material "I can sell this, you can certainly make good profit from it. The question would be, do you wish to make something with heart out of it. To weave the dreams that others would wish to don... or aim towards profit." watching her as she answers. "How much of these silks can you produce?"
Caressa returns to her stool with a soft smile while watching.
"Depends on the specific fabric but in general I can produce a bolt of fabric about every two weeks," Parker says. "However, I have some personal stock of some of my favorite materials being shipped from Oklahoma." She touches the translucent shirt she's wearing and says, "This for example, I really like this material, especially in black and grays."
Johnathan nods "I would definatly be interested in purchasing a few bolts of you when you have stock for it for my own projects"
Parker smiles broadly and asks, "Which material? And do you have specific colors in mind?"
Johnathan chuckles "MMmmmm black, white and grey to start" motioning to some of the fabrics. "The rest I would have to order specially as I need them"
Caressa smirks as she look over to Johnathan and whisper a bit loudly, "Purple."
"I should have those by the end of the week," Parker says. "Oh, and these are cruelty free but they are one hundred percent non-veagan if any of your customer's care about such things." She grins at Caressa's 'stage whisper' and says, "I have that as well. Made a set of tights out of crushed silk-velvet in a royal purple." She has pride in her work, that's certainly clear.
Johnathan chuckles "Yes purple" smiles "I think I will make a vest or two out of it and see what else I can consider"
Caressa nods, looking back to her sketchpad briefly and making some notation for herself.
Parker looks for and finds a pen and one of the store's business cards. Using the former on the back of the latter, she scratches out her name and a phone number which she slides over to Johnathan. After putting the pen away she grabs and pockets another, pristine, copy of the business card herself. "Sounds good," she says and then asks, "What else would you like me to do? Bring in some items to start some stock of my work? Or focus on the fabrics for now?"
Johnathan smiles "You said you had stock of fabrics. Focus on your designs that you would want as a line here. Next time I can give you a copy of the contract so you can read it over in peace. As for the fabrics you just need to give me a estimation of how much they will cost and I will put in an order with you"
Parker gives a not unreasonable per bolt quote considering the fact that it is 'artisinal' fabric. "Again, won't have it until the end of the week though, its coming via moving truck from Okalhoma," she explains. "Had to get a place to live and store it at first."
Johnathan nods "Understandable took me a while to set up shop too. Feel free to look around if you want, see what is being sold. And if you have any questions just ask, you got my number" smiling warmly to her
"Yeah," Parker says, "And you've mine. I'll definately check out what you've got here." She waits to see if Johnathan has anything else to say and, if not, steps away from the couple and starts looking around the shop.
Caressa offers Parker a wave. "I look forward to seeing what you come up with." She grins then looks back to Johnathan.
