SPACE!
The Infinite Horizon continues to float in the void while a skeleton crew tries desperately to get her space worthy again. After making contact with the Infinity AI, Nikolai and Finley have made their way to one of three communication hubs in the ship to try and get ship communications going so that they can coordinate restoring ship systems. Meanwhile, Zelazny's short cut to the engine room proved nearly fatal until he finally managed to crawl his way to safety. We now continue with our program, already in progress....
Nik and Fin still need to find a way to get that ice off the panel. Last suggestion was trying to find a way to divert the circuit just long enough to remove the ice and then restore power and get the system operation. Now... How to divert that circuit? Fin looks at Nik, "I could tell you how to make a tourniquet, but you're the master of things like this?"
Nikolai sighs "We can melt it... and do something or we can freeze it fully and work on it... or we can channel the power elsewhere.. I am not sure which is the best option... I think the melting might be an issue since the water is still dripping, freezing somewhat the same thing... so I guess the diverting power is the best shot we got since we do not know how to turn the water off"
Zelazny was not having a very good day. Sure, he was heading to the one place he really wanted to head to; the engine room! But the way there? Well, the way there proved to be a whole lot harder than he had expected. Crawling, dragging and pulling himself to the nearest door, he was going to make sure to get out of harms way to begin with. To get away from the evilness that is the broken down corridor without its atmosphere.
Fin nods to Nik and puts her hands on her hips, looking at the panel. After a few bits, she waves her hands towards the thing. "Well, I don't even know where to start here," she says. "You're gonna have to tell me what you need me to do here."
Zelazny makes it safely on the other side of the door. From where he is laying catching his breath he can see the main doors of the engine room, currently sealed by emergency containment doors.
Nikolai would revert the power and route it through a diffrent system. Frowning some "We need to replace this soon so we can get personal coms up. Infinity. What more repairs are needed?"
Fin scoots her head in all but too close to carefully and curiously watch Nik work on the panel. There's a few 'Hms' and "Ohs', but otherwise, she stays quiet and lets him work. When he's done, she rocks back on her heels and looks around, a smile growing on her face as the ship's communication systems begin to come online.
A light from the a nearby wall panel lets out a small chime and projects a hazy, jumpy image of a vaguely feminine but clearly robotic form. Imagine a racecar if it looked like a woman. "Current repair priorities include restoring power to primary engines. There is a hull breach in sector 15 that is no longer contained as Cadet Zelazny bypassed the emergency seals. Oxygen loss has been detected but is currently within acceptable parameters for a crew of your size. Navigation systems must also be restored.
Nearly simultaneously, a similar, but smaller image emerges from a panel near the sealed door near Zelazny. "Please provide proper authorization codes to proceed."
Fin elbows Nik a bit, "let's go rendez-vous with Zel. See if he knows how to get these Nav systems going," she suggests.
Zelazny, who was -this- close to taking the door apart, comes to a stop. He stares at the panel that spoke to him, then offers a HUGE grin, "Well! Since the entire crew seems to be dead or .. missing. Or incapacitated! Well, that means.. this is current Senior Engineer Isaac Zelazny! Authorisation code is, 'Let Me In Before We All Die'."
There is a pause, "Access denied. Please provide proper authorization codes to proceed." Nikolai nods "Zel opened a seal so we are leaking athmosphere right now... we have a hull breach in the area he is in.. and I think navigation is by the bridge.. where as he is near the engine bay"
Zelazny stares at the panel, then shakes his head, "Fine. Then lets do it like this.." he then offers his code, "I-1999-Omega. Junior Technician Isaac Zelazny. Currently the senior Technician onboard."
Fin nods, steps back and addresses the comm system --Communication System, this is Junior Biosphere Fox here. I need to relay a message to coordinates *whatever the location of the area Zel is*. Attention Engineer Zelazny, we're headed to Nav Systems. Do you need backup?--
In Engineering, a second image appears, similar to the first, but in a different color tone. While the first image closes its eyes and processes Zelazny's request, the second one speaks in Fin's voice, relaying the message.
There is a loud *CHA-CHUNK* and the seal on the containment door is released, although it does not open the entire way. "I-1999-Omega recognized. Proceed Senior Technician Zelazny." Someone has just gotten a field promotion.
Zelazny lets out a loud, "EUREKA!" in reply to what ever it was Finley just asked him. That reply would most likely be blasted through to her end, "I am through! Engineering is mine!" he then goes for the door, trying to get it open the rest of the way so he can get through. Its almost as if he did not even register that the comms were online!
Then... "Safety alert. Radiation levels rising and approaching level dangerous to human personnel. Proceed with caution."
Nikolai looks to Finley "how long will he manage that?" through comms "Are you certain you can manage before radiation takes over Zelazny?"
Fin just shakes her head at Nik, "We should go," she says and backs up a couple steps before jogging off to grab radioactive protective respirators.
Nikolai follows Fin to where she is heading
About to break in through the door, what the computer says actually has him stopping. Zelazny blinks, "Well, thats not good." he stops trying to open the door to instead try to seal it, "Uh.. computer? Same authorisation code. Seal this door for now!"
The locks try and snap back in place but now that the seal has been broken the door cannot seal without manually being pushed shut. "I'm sorry Technician Zelazny, without engines online, there is not significant power to comply."
Fin rushes back into the supply area and grabs down three respirators. The first one, she hangs about her next as she tosses the second to Nik. As she jogs down the hall, she affixes the mask securely on her and zips her suit up, hanging on to the third suit for Zel.
Nikolai follows her and graps the respirator and puts it on as he runs after her. Zelazny lets out a rather undignified curse word to that, "Well, thats -really- not good!" he exclaims, "Uh, how long before radiation level becomes lethal? And, uh, what is causing the leak? Is it repairable?"
"Calculating..."
