It isn't often that Phillipe comes to the caern's bawn anymore, and never has he done so with a request to speak to an Elder of the sept specifically. Still stranger, perhaps, is that while he waits with patient pacing around one of the fires, there is a strange (visibly Fianna) new kinfolk with him. He pauses every so often to make smalltalk with some of the other kin passing through, and once on Iron Flail's near pass he has a few minutes of conversation with one of his favorite people, but most of the time he just circles - slowly - with hands in the pockets of his suit. Because normal people rock up to caerns in suits all the damn time. Totally NormalTM.

George comes down the tunnel to the meeting cavern from the surface, having made remarkable time getting over from the Island. He comes over to talk to Phillipe "Whatever it is I'm pretty sure its not Viator's fault, he was with me most of the afternoon and he didn't smell guilty at all."

Well, at least Phillipe isn't alone in his suit-wearing escapades. Though Cash opts for a less sharp cut, and it's not nearly so fine as Rou's, he at least seems to know how to wear one. He does not pace, instead opting to lean against one of the nearby trees with his hands in his pockets. While he's been down here before, it is certainly not a practice he makes even remotely regular. George's approach is watched, but overhearing his opening comment, Cash can't help but laugh as he straightens up from leaning against the tree and approaches.

It's laughter Phillipe doesn't quite join in on, but that quip is enough to pull a crooked grin to his face. Pulling his hands from his pockets he turns and walks forward to meet George as he comes in, hand extended to shake in the way he has been taught homids often do during matters of Professionalism. "No, not Viator's fault," he agrees. "This time." There's a glance toward Cash as he comes closer and he shifts so as to include a space for the kin in this small group. "George, this is Cash. Cash, George." It's a friendly introduction, but he does not linger on formalities just at this moment. "I don't know how much you know about the fae, George, but there is a fire ettin who is displeased at the efforts undertaken by local law enforcement to combat forest fires in this region. She is convinced that this is incredibly unhealthy for the forest and means to prevent anyone from fighting the fire that is apparently to hit this forest around Midsummer."

George considers Phillipe "I assume this pending fire isn't one of the controlled burns the park service or DEC are arranging fairly regularly? And this..../thing/ wants something bigger?"

"Want is a strong term," Cash offers then, "She is a force of fire, she wants a wildfire as they 'ought' to be - And believes the suppression powder and helicopter dropped water are unnatural wars that humans wage against important processes of the forest." He sighs. "I tried to warn her that it would bring her nought but ire but she will not listen, it is not her way - So no, not one of the park service's fires, but also not a raging inferno fanned to unnatural heights." Yes, it was asked of Phillipe, but there's a shift of Cash's weight at the word 'thing' and he can't quite help himself. Not that he sounds like he /approves/ of her crazy plan, mind. Not one bit.

"I don't know what the fire's source will be," Phillipe admits frankly. "Only that Midsummer is coming and there will be a fire and the people who try to fight that fire are going to be met with... her and something she called the Empire of Flame?" That's the point where he glances toward Cash - possibly for a check on his memory being accurate (there was a bunch of talk about witches and curses and who knows what else in the middle there too) or perhaps for something like clarification on what that means (since he sure as shit doesn't know). He defers to Cash's explanation of 'want', lifting a hand to touch briefly at his elbow when that shift of weight is noticed. "If we clear out the dead brush and undergrowth around the places we want to protect so that the fire need not go there, cannot jump there, she has promised to take no issue with that. It was... sort of the best we could get out of her. She's fairly..." There's not a great word for it. "...intense."

George glances aside at Cash's reaction and moves right past that, not giving a fuck what the too pretty to be human kinfolk might have a problem with "I will alert the other elders, and the fianna in particular. Do you know where this creature can be found?"

Yeah, too pretty to be human - That's an accurate assessment, but at least in this he /does/ know what he's talking about. "She comes and goes as she sees fit," Cash says, "And I know those she ought to, in theory, answer to. I must say, however, as both a Fianna kinfolk and one of the Fae, I do not believe this is a problem that the Fianna's tie to my people can solve. She is similar but different to the bonds that the Fianna have and maintain. But it was important that you all be warned and able to take steps to prevent damage to holy places and homes." It's then that he glances to Phillipe. "Empire of Flames, yes." Confirmation, but not explanation.

George nods and takes a deep breath "Summer is the season of fire and it needs no encouragement from whatever this Fire fae is. There will likely be extra preperations made to remove additional threats."

Though the question seems to be addressed to him, Phillipe takes no umbrage at Cash being the one to offer answers again. It's an answer he knows not many of the Changing Breeds would like, but when Cash is finished speaking there is no hedging from Phillipe, no softening. He simply nods once in the kinfolk's direction and then turns to George. "I've seen firsthand the effectiveness Cash displays in handling several kinds of bad situations and he is certainly more than competent in dealing with his own people. The fae side of the concern is and will be handled as best it possibly can, and I will take on the responsibility of communicating back to you what needs to be." It is not explicit - he is neither Garou nor does he particularly /like/ this method - but there is little doubt that this is Phillipe placing himself in the slot of 'responsibility' for Cash on the Nation's legal end of things. "What additional threats concern you?"

"Her nature means that her inclination is toward the natural rhythms of the forest and its fires." Cash says, "I don't believe she intends to encourage it in any way, simply to discourage humans from fighting the flames in what she feels is human hubris. It's not a vendetta against human, or other, homes in the woods. I did clarify at least that much with her. I doubt anyone will attack you, if that is the concern you carry." There's a small smile to Phillipe then and he nods, "If my attempts to solve or lessen the problem with my people fail, you all will be the first to know, but with Midsummer fast approaching, I did not want to give you so little time for preperations if I do fail. Contingency plans are how you stay alive."

George seems to accept Phillipe's positioning for the moment or at least not caring enough to say something "Opportunists. While we are devoting resources to dealing with the natural threat of a wildfire and possible exposure to mundane fire fighting efforts there will be those that seek to take advantage of our preoccupation." Then he turns to Cash "That's utter nonsense, this is a tended wood. She is not one of Gaia's elementals, I can say with confidence that her judgement will be rejected in every particular. This is already an attack on us and we will defend our home. From her or whoever seeks to take advantage of her making the situation worse. And stopping the mortal efforts to fight the fire sure as Fuck counts as making the situation worse than it has to be. If she's seen anywhere in the woods, fire or no she'll probably be destroyed."

Phillipe reaches up to rub at the skin under one eye, shifting his weight from one foot to the other and glancing at the people around them for a moment of thought. "There is time to clear the underbrush and ward the various sept structures against flame. I don't think violence will ultimately be necessary - but perhaps I am an optimist." He shrugs. "If you would like assistance in the process of clearing and fire-proofing, I will be glad to send some of my people to help."

George nods at Phillipe "I have to get word to the other Elders so we can get things moving." And then George is gone almost fast enough to make the air pop. gets a woosh at the very least.
