Faqirah sits alone in the garden of roses. Her face is cold and a stony expression dulls her eyes. She looks up as you approach and affects a brief smile which seems more like a wince. She stands. "Mr. McBride. It has been some time. How is Father Cross and the woman Apple?"
Gwydion shrugs at Faqirah as he approaches "I haven't seen either in quite some time actually, I've been busy running around cleaning up messes. I bet you can guess why I wanted to speak with you."
Faqirah nods and gestures to the bench opposite hers where they can speak in relative privacy. Of course there are bike patrols here but they dont incessantly ride through the rose garden. Seen but not heard. She speaks. "Indeed I can but why don´t you tell me."
Gwydion it also helps that Gwydion is a known quantity to the local law enforcement community so they tend to give him his space. Gwydion sits across from Faqirah and speaks with grim professionalism "Eden and Spotted Horse threw down and slaughtered over a dozen civilians including a mother and child driving by that had nothing to do with whatever argument they'd had with eachother."
Faqirah sigh heavily. "A child? That I didn´t know. One is un custody and the other at large. I did attempt to scrub the cameras. Was that unsuccesful or did you use some other means?"
Gwydion shakes his head "I used some of the other means I have available. Given that all went down only a block from Father Cross' shelter I imagine he's not going to be pleased either, you had an agreement with him about things like this didn't you? I don't see how Eden is coming out of this with all her bits intact. Which one of them do you have already?"
Faqirah nods. "Its Eden I have in custody. But it is yet to be determined who is at fault. She will go nowhere until justice is done. I must recover the other party as I only have one side of the story...hers."
Gwydion nods slowly as he considers "If nessecary I could provide a replay of what happened but I think what each of them will say happened could also be telling. If I find Spotted Horse first would you like me to contain him for you?"
Faqirah nods. "I would." She looks out at the night. "I want to ask you a favor."
Gwydion nods and gestures for Faqirah to go ahead, he'll give her a hearing at least.
Faqirah says, "Spot is a dear friend of mine. He has just returned from a war with the lupines. He is of Malkavian blood if you are familiar. If he submits to my punishment, my intent is to inflict such agony upon them as they will wish I had killed them. I shall dominate them to come to me should they ever get the urge to act so foolishly again. If anything of this sort ever happens again...I will kill them both...myself. Although I would prefer to just hand you Eden as you believe her to be the guilty party and be done with it, that is not honorable. I highly suspect that Spot is at fault. I remember my agreement with Cross." She shakes her head. "I leave his homeless around the shelter alone and he stays out of the jihad. Were homeless killed?""
Gwydion shrugs "I didn't know the details of the agreement and I haven't done traces on all the victims. As far as my observations went Eden approached Spot. Spot asked her to go away and leave him alone. She didn't, he took a swing. As they kept fighting Eden assumed her war form and that was all before she frenzied. That puts the fault pretty directly on Eden, even if Spot used a Discipline to make her frenzy. That'd be reckless endangerment or maybe manslaughter for him. But really, Eden's testimony in her own defense would have to be pretty damn compellin to keep her head attached to her shoulders."
Faqirah says, "If what you say is true then....she will die. And you neednt dirty your blades."
Faqirah says, "It is against the Code of Milan to attack another Sabbat outside the rite of monomacy."
Gwydion nods at Faqirah and shrugs "He might have thrown the first punch but she rather clearly was the agressor. I was already inclined to cut Spotted Horse a little slack and your vouchin for him counts for somethin." Pausing for a moment "Can we set up an easier way for me to get in touch with you? Even if its just a dead drop you check every once and a while. Unless Eden works for that for you. I got no problem with those people. They're very tidy."
Faqirah hands you a business card for Habib´s Cleaning Service. "Ask to speak to The Maid directly," she says. They may be able to get ahold of me if I havent crushed whatever current go phone Im using at the time. Sorry.... My life is not much for disclosure. Im sure you understand." She frowns. "I shall be so angry if she came back to confess and lie at the same time."
Gwydion nods and takes the card, looking it over briefly before tucking it into one of the many pockets of his coat "I certianly understand. This will work well enough for contact even if they just take a message that I need you to call me when you get a new phone. Did you want me to make a DVD or something with the footage of the incident?"
Faqirah nods. "I certainly would. How did you get it. I could not recover anything and the camera I found at the site was a fake.
Faqirah nods. "I would appreciate that more than you know." She stands. "Is this something we can accomplish now?"
Gwydion shrugs "A scrying spell. The past is much easier to divine than the future. The tricky part is going to be imprinting the result on a media you can play back without using my kind of magic."
Gwydion shakes his head "I'm going to need to go back to my workshop and tinker a bit, I've got a couple of ideas though. Just need to putter a bit to make it work."
Faqirah nods. "I cant imagine why you would wish to make one sabbat innocent other than the truth. If you can make the tape....make it. I will say it is from the fake camera in the bar. Easy enough. Im trusting your integrity Mr. McBryde. I hope you realize that means something."
Gwydion nods "That will work just fine and for the observation of what happened outside? One of my safe houses is a block the other side of the bar from Saint Benedict's. I can angle it to look like it came from the security camera on my front porch."
Faqirah nods. "I assume you have some work to do then? I will be sure not to replace my phone until I hear from you. I replace them frequently, some rituals of the tremere and some technology of the police has a way of tracking phones. Its tiresome."
Faqirah says, "No offense"
Gwydion nods and chuckles a little bit "None taken. One way or antoher I'll probably have something for you in a couple of days. I can always leave a message at the cleaners if you need to replace your phone sooner."
Faqirah nods. "Thankyou for the respect Mr McBryde. Im sure we shall get to the bottom of this atrocity."
The next night...
Faqirah waits in the rose garden, standing this time. Running a few fingers through the cool water of the fountain before you approach. She looks up with a stone cast to her countenance. "Mr McBryde. Your swiftness in obtaining the evidence is appreciated. I have both of them in custody and I expect to pass sentence tonight."
Gwydion approaches with small square mailing envelope in one hand that he offers out over to Faqirah "The preperation of the disc was an interesting project and no trouble at all. Making a hologram of my memory of what the original scry showed me for a digital videocamera to film worked easily."
Faqirah just shakes her head. The applications of true magick and even thaumaturgy elude the warrior caste Assamite. "Im sure I still wouldn´t understand if I asked you to explain it. In any case, the Sword of Caine is greatful to you for all of this." She takes the envelope and looks in briefly. "My regards to your master."
Gwydion had tucked the jewel case with the dvd in it into one of those bubble wrap lined mailing envelopes for transport. He nods back to Faqirah "Glad we could work stuff out between us like professionals. Be seein you."
Faqirah nods. "Walk safely under the night." And with that she is done. There has never been much need for drawn out speeches between them.
And the night after that
<Phone> (Text from Faqirah) It is finished.
<Phone> (Text to Faqirah) I appreciate you letting me know.
<Phone> (Text from Faqirah) As do I. Your respect is not forgotten.
