Hayden walks into the coffee shop and heads for the counter.
The evening is early - there's still a haze of light among the trees of the nearby campus. Wyck, the self-styled street witch, has had a successful day doing whatever it is that he does and enjoys some coffee while slumped on the big ugly couch.
Hayden gets to the counter and asks for a quad shot grasshopper latte.
Wyck glances up at the sound of a possible cajun accent - it's been awhile since he's heard the sounds of his old stompin ground. Assuming that he'd be able to catch the man's attention he calls to him to ask, "Hey der... you from N'awlins, ya?"
Hayden turns and nods "Yes sir I am. How did you figure?" He gets his drink and pays for it as he wanders towards Wyck.
Wyck explains, sitting up in the couch a little from his previously sprawled position. "I'm from Terebonne parish - a bit north of N'awlins. I picked up your accent. Don't have many of us around."
Hayden nods "Grew up in the quarter myself." He chuckles a little. "How did you come to be all the way out here?"
Wyck hrms and kicks out one leg to rest the other under his butt. "Long story - made my way from Lo'siana to Texas and from Texas up 'ere. Thankfully my winibago has been able to keep up with me. How about yourself?"
Hayden says, "Just thought it was a good time to get out of town and move along. I ended up here cause if I went any further west I'd just get wet."
Ari makes her way into the roasters, she pushes a stroller in front of her and she has one arm linked with Azoun's and the two are chatting excitedly as they make their way over to the counter. "I've just finished putting the last of the books on the shelves downstairs. I still have tables to move in and some couches too, but I have movers coming tomorrow to bring that stuff in." She pauses in her excited chatter to deliver their orders to the waiting barrista. Then she goes right back to chatting. "And then I think we'll be ready to open, assuming Gwydion and Aiden are ready as well."
Wyck shrugs absently at Hayden's explination. Everyone has their own reasons why they leave home - and why they end up in Prospect. Ari's arrival with the stroller draws his attention for a moment - but just long enough for him to take a sip of his coffee and let the conversation between himself and Hayden find a comfortable pause. "So what do you do then?" he asks the man he was speaking with.
Hayden says, "Not much, still looking for work. Got some money saved up so I can take my time. I can work hard and sing that's about it."
Hayden says, "If someone needs a freak for a freakshow I can do some of that too."
Azoun looks to his wife to be with a loving smile, "It is everything you thought it would be?" he seem quite happy with the joy in Ari's eyes. "I am just glad I could help you in any fashion that I can. I hope that Aiden and Gwydion are happy with the results as well. So is your life turning out the way you wanted it too?" He places a soft kiss on Ari's lips, then kisses Zoe on the top of the head and try to find something baby friendly on the menu, "You know auntie ellie would kill me if she knew that I was giving you something store bought, yes she would." He looks down at the child with utter love in his heart.
Ari giggles softly and grins. "Nooo. Auntie Ellie gives her... umm... shoot I can't remember what she calles them. I don't know." She says and shrugs. "Donut holes though." She grins and winks at Zoe. "Donut holes for celebration." She smiles and slips an arm around Az's waist. "It's turning out better than I could have ever dreamed." She says and smiles softly up at him. "Its wonderful, thank you." She whispers.
Wyck gives the man an appraising glance - as though he were silently evaluating what potential job he could be used for and then what jobs he knows of could use him. After a while he shrugs a bit - having failed to make any real connection and dismisses the idea. Then, after another sip of his coffee he tosses out the last-ditch of a job offer. "There's always Babylon..."
Wyck's copper-green eyes are distracted by the man who has arrived with the stroller and raises an eyebrow in question - and then turns his attention back to Hayden so that he doesn't appear to be a stalker or a creep.
Hayden nods "Where's that? Mostly I need some space to set up my suspension apparatus again. Not against physical labor either."
Azoun shrugs a bit, "Whatever my Queen and Princess desires shall be theirs." He finds them a chair and table, pull the chair out for Ari to have a seat, "How are you feeling by the way?" He takes a seat only after she does. A wraps around her tightly, "Have you gone to see Ellie about things yet?" He start to unbuckle Zoe and sit her on his lap to bounce on his knee.
Ari grabs the food and drinks as she moves over to sit with Az. She settles into her chair and puts the food and drinks on the table while Az deals with their daughter. "Not yet, no. I figured I would give it a few days first. I'll set up an appointment with her soon though, I promise."
Wyck peers curiously at Hayden, "Suspension apparatus? What the hell does that mean?" The 'cute' couple are given another side-glance but only as the infant is produced. He turns his attention back to the man to add a bit of explination about a club in town, "Babylon - it's sort of like a floating rave. Moves around every week or so. Pays good money for bartenders, hosts, and stuff. All depends on what you want to do."
Hayden nods "Ever see someone with hooks through their skin hanging from something?"
Azoun smiles softly as Zoe is just snuggle by her 'Papa' as he sit there, He looks up from the little girl for a moment, "I just want to make sure you have everything you need." Az is just taking to this fatherhood role like a fish to water. "Do you need anything else for the business.. Oh, I got something that I will be working on that I want you to keep with you at the shop, it is a gift from me to you. but I will talk with you later about it." He would honestly love to take a sip of his coffee if it wasn't for the child that is attempting to consume his hands with drool.
Ari snickers softly as Zoe gnaws on Azoun's fingers. She actually has a little tooth just almost about to make it to the surface! It can be felt through the soft skin of her gums as she gnaws making her little happy growly sounds. Ari snickers and reaches out, grabbing Az's coffee and blowing on it carefully to try to cool it down a bit. "Mmm alright." She accepts easily and once she has his coffee cooled enough, she leans over, holding it out and helping him take a sip of it. Its the whole mommy thing. This sort of thing comes natural and she's not even realizing she's doing it.
Wyck nods seemingly understanding the concept the man had mentioned, "Yeah - out in South Dakota at one of the Lakota Sun Dances - but you look awful pale there white-boy to be doing that," he takes a sip and then finishes the statement with a tone similar to annoyance, "...but whatta I know." With a second, appraising glance, he looks the man up and down and then adds, "Unless you're a good bartender - I'd suggest that you stear clear of Babylon. They'd probably break a guy like you."
Hayden chuckles "Break me I don't think so. I am a lot harder to break than you know." He sips his coffee.
Azoun laughs as Ari as she is so instinctively motherly. "You are the most wonderful woman ever." He winces as some of that sharp tooth does sink into the finger. He looks down at the little girl, "And you are the world's greatest daughter, even if you are going to chew my hands apart." he does it in the cutest little voice he can muster, which is still rather manly regardless of intent.
Zoe kicks her feet excitedly and falls back against Azoun's chest. She lets go of his hand and reaches up for his face, giggling and opening and closing her mouth as she makes monster sounds at him, clearly threatening to eat his face off for such a rude comment! Ari grins slightly and her cheeks flush a bit. "Pft. I'm no different than any other woman. You're just whipped that's all." It's light and teasing that comment, but there's affection there too.
Wyck finishes his coffee and stands from the couch to shoulder his satchel in a slow, lazy motion. It's clear that he's been sprawled out on the couch here for quite sometime by the lethargic stretch that suddenly creeps up his spine from deep in his toes all the way up to his fingertips. Pushing himself up onto his toes he tries to reach for the ceiling in an attempt to relieve the stretch-attack, his shirt rising above his shorts enough to reveal a flat, tanned stomach. "Well bud - good luck..." he offers Hayden while walking over to return his now empty coffee cup to the counter. I've got to head out."
Hayden nods and smiles "Have fun stormin the castle. Hope to see you again soon." He waves.
Azoun lifts Zoe up and allow her to give him BABY KISSES, which is mostly drooling on his face, a lot. "I would like to disagree with that.. but I can't." He hands the kiddo off to Mama for just a moment in order to clean off the spit, "Your lucky I am head over heels in love with you both." he laughs softly.
Ari grins faintly and nods her head as she takes her daughter back once daddy has been fully slobbered upon. She grins and snuggles the little girl, giving little kisses across her forehead. "Why? You'd gripe about babyspit otherwise?" She asks, grinning teasingly.
Wyck waves absently to Hayden and makes for the door to leave.
