UPDATED GUIDELINES

As of 7/2/23

• All xpnoms MUST be Group noms.

• Because we have been having duplicate noms lately, in order to keep it straight, staff requests that it be worked out beforehand among the players involved, who is going to nom. The log of the scene AND THE DATE OF THE SCENE must be included. If log and date are not included, the nom will not be processed.

• If your PC is at XP cap when a scene happened, you will not get any XP from it, even if it is submitted after that person's cap ends. (i.e. you have a scene on the 21st, but you are at cap until the 24th, even if you submit the XP/nom on the 25th, the person at cap will get nothing.) Please do not save up logs to nom later. Staff is instituting a 2 week time limit for noms unless specifically approved by staff for that time limit to be extended (It would have to be extenuating circumstances). After the two weeks, scenes are no longer eligible for noms.

+xp/nom <recipient>/<type(s)>=<explanation>

The below is copied out of the books, with 'sessions' replaced with scenes, a few terms replaced by players, PCs, etc, and more mush friendly terminology. Check your own splatbook, they are all worded a little differently. (The werewolf book, for example, gives a much stronger requirement of heroism)

• Please provide specifics! This doesn't have to be an essay - one or two sentences or representative poses are okay - but just "they were interesting" is not enough explanation.

• For plot scenes where one PC acted as storyteller, use the Storyteller type. They will receive an award equal to the largest award given to any participant (minimum 1).
  • If you nominate someone for this category, then nominate them for just this category; any others will be ignored.

• Returning nominations (if they submit one for you, then you submit one for them) is encouraged but not required. If it doesn't happen, then the submitter may still be awarded XP at staff discretion.

• +xp/nom is intended for good RP. Simply posing leaning against the wall for several hours, should not get you a +xp/nom. We approve those, if they're well-written, but +xp/nom is supposed to be a reward for good RP, not for participation. If everyone in the scene is good RP, then by all means, nom them, but just posing in doesn't get you XP. That's what +vote is for.

• ALMOST ALWAYS, we will approve ACTING and CONCEPT together. So if you think someone did a good job in the scene, +xp/nom them for both, rather than just ACTING. Some say "Well, I don't know what their concept is!" Well, if they're RPing, that's probably part of their concept. Give them 2 xp for their good rp instead of 1. If they showed heroism or they learned something, then maybe they can get three or four XP instead of just that one!

One Point - Learning:

Ask the player what the character learned in the course of the scene. If you agree with it, the player gets one XP point.

One Point - Heroism:

On rare occasions PCs can truly behave as heroes, risking all to let friends or even strangers escape from certain death. If a character acts heroically and manages to survive, he should be rewarded. Some players might try to take advantage of the idea. Don't let them. Stupidity and suicidal behavior should not be mistaken for heroism.

One Point - Acting:

This award goes to the player who demonstrated exceptional roleplaying. If the player acted appropriately and his character entertained, award a point. Usually this award only goes to the player who roleplayed the best during that scene, but feel free to reward multiple sterling performances at once.

One Point - Concept:

Award this point if the player did a very good job acting out her character's concept. Doing so could have been bad or good for the player, but you are the final arbiter as to whether the player earns the point.

Per story

One Point - Success:

If the characters achieved all or at least some of their goals, they should get a point for advancing their agendas and carrying out their tasks successfully.

One point - Danger:

If the story was particularly harrowing and the characters were forced to stay on their toes constantly, they may learn quicker just by surviving.

One Point - Wisdom:

If a player came up with a brilliant plan that saved the day mid-story, adapted to circumstances, adjusted for a new or clever use of the character's capabilities, or just plain rocked, give a bonus point to that character for sudden insight. This is not applicable if a player just answered a simple trivia question correctly. It is applicable if they solved a riddle to get through the door, or taught an important skill to another pc. If you are unsure, ask.

Group guidelines

When submitting XP nominations for a group of people, please follow these guidelines to make things easier for staff:

• Let everyone know you're doing it. (This cuts down on duplicates.)

• Anyone in the group (either the storyteller or a participant) can do the whole thing on a single job.

• Follow these guidelines:
  • Give some sort of title even if it is just the location and date of scene.
  • Put a link to a log of the scene (Our Wiki, Pastebin.com, Google Drive, or something similar)
  • Give a summary of the scene/PRP. Include notes about what PCs Learned, Wisdom given, Success, etc, whatever awards you are submitting for beyond Acting/Concept. Acting/Concept is the standard award that does not need qualifications.
  • List of all participants, and what awards they get. (Leave only a space between names, no commas)
    • Listing yourself is allowed in the group nom.

Example:

Acting/Concept = Emily Joe Fred Xavier

Learning = Emily Fred

Wisdom = Xavier

Storyteller = Javier

• Note: When you submit the xp/nom, submit it with only one name in the request command. Such as "+xp/nom Emily/Acting Concept=" For a full example:
