After several days, Charlene lets Brooke know how she did on her Challenge
IC Date December 12th, 2017
Players Brooke, Charlene
Location The Caern
Spheres Gaian Garou

With the moon creeping from Galliard to something a little smaller, Charlene, being the considerate sort who doesn't want to snap people's heads off - spent her time at the Caern, doing Caern things. Mostly telling stories, teaching archery to those who wanted to know how, and giving the Ahrouns a good opponent in fighting and wrestling. What really shocked some of them was, in the midst of a fight, how she'd shift forms to throw off holds and, once, even 'accidentally' shifted out of her top, allowing her to sweep the guy's legs out from under him while he was distracted.

Charlene is now sitting quietly in front of the fire, plucking at her guitar and sipping a bottle of water. Soon, home time and then, showers, food, and a comfortable bed.

Brooke spent time today out on patrol, and finished filling in her alpha of what happened. Before heading home, she decides to come sit in the Caern to listen to some stories, and perhaps continue sharing her own to those that have not already heard them. She smiles when she sees Charlene and waves to her as she looks for a place to sit. "Hello Charlene. Nice to see you."

Charlene is dressed, just to put that out there her guitar set aside when she sees someone approaching and, rising to her feet when she sees exactly who it is. "Hey there, Brooke. Heard y' went an' found a totem an' a few other things." She grins. "How'd it go?"

Brooke grins. "It was a great experience. I'm not sure my story did it justice for the thrill of that grand adventure. Solving the puzzle, searching the trails, finding clues, and then reaching our goals? Fantastic."

Charlene gestures for you to join her, sitting down herself at the fire, tossing in a log, sending up a swirl of sparks. "Well, let me ask you, then. What'd you think of the story you shared? It checked all the boxes - you found a story that no-one in the Caern knew. It was definitely related to Garou, and shed light on things." She gives a grin. "How often does all that stuff happen?"

Brooke giggles. "I really loved the story. It was personal, it did tick the boxes, but more important, I had a great time taking what I lived and composing it into what I hoped was entertaining for others to hear. I've had a great reaction from those I told it to. Especially my pack mates."

"And you've been sharing it, I take it?" Charlene asks with a grin, tipping back her water bottle and taking a drink. "Good....good." She's thoughtful for a moment and then looks to you, the Texan twang drifting away for a second or two. "I think, Brooke, Hushed-Blaze, Homid Galliard of the Glass Walkers, packed under Falcon, that you have succeeded in your challenge." She looks to you with a smile, reaching out to rest a hand on your shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "You are a Fostern."

Brooke smiles brightly, hardly containing her excitement. "Thank you, Charlene, Song of Vengeance, for this opportunity. I am truly honored." Her eyes even smile she is so thrilled.

"Be careful. You're not a Cliath anymore. You're expected to do good things. To be an example for those below you. Your honor is precious. Protect it with all that you are." Charlene gives your shoulder a squeeze. "Be careful, though....you may end up with a new name if you keep wise council as you did with the Owl spirit in your story." Yes, Charlene has heard the tale. A few times, in fact.

Brooke takes in a breath and nods. "Yes, I understand. My word is my bond, and my choices should reflect who I am becoming here. This Sept has taught me so much, and I am humbled to be a part of it. Now to have a chance to teach others is a step I'm actually looking forward to." She does ask, "Do they ever change rite names? If it say does not quite fit anymore?"

"When it doesn't fit anymore, yes." Charlene settles back into her seat, crossing her feet at the ankles, taking a sip of her water. "My name, I've had since I was a Cliath. Song-of-Vengeance. A very fury name. Eventually someone'll say 'hey, you should change that' or I'll do something worthy of changing it." She chuckles. "I was going to help Bronwyn give birth to her storms - might have earned the name Stormcatcher or Stormchaser if that'd happened, but the whole 'certain death as a storm emerges from the Wyld creature's legs' put a damper on that."

Brooke covers her mouth as she both gasps and laughs. "Are you the supernatural midwife around here then? That seems like quite a task to chose to be a part of."

"Hey, I'm a fury, we help out mothers. Bronwyn was a mother..more or less. Yeah, it wasn't the traditional sort of baby, but still...she might have needed some help, which is why I offered." Charlene smiles. "Would have been a hell of a story, too."

Brooke nods again and again. "I have only seen Bronwyn a few times, but I can certainly see where a great story could come from that. I do not know a lot about your tribe, but would certainly like to learn more. Especially this part about helping out mothers. That is such an important role."

"Ah, now that's opened a Pandora's box, hasn't it?" Charlene smiles from her seat, looking up at you from where she is. "If you want the histories, songs, and the like, we'd need about a week and a half just for me to get the basics down. I guess the best place to start that conversation is the simplest one - what do you know about the Black Furies?"

Brooke grins. "I'm a curious one. What I generally know is that they are almost all female, and are strong warriors. We did not have any at the Sept I was at before, and I only heard a few bits here and there as I was learning what I even was."

Charlene nods. "That's the long and the short of it, yes. We're a tribe of females and a few Metis males. Any boys that are happened to be born with the gift are loaned out to other tribes in exchange for their girls." She says this a little bluntly - after all, this was something set up long before her. "Lots of people look at us as man hating feminists, and there are a few of 'em, to be fair, but the vast majority of us are just giving women a hand up where they're bein' oppressed. I mean, hell, we've added four more notes to th' litany - "Suffer no abuse of Woman", "Keep the Wyld Places Pure", "Train the Weak, Protect the Helpless" and "Remember your parents." Stuff that sometimes gets forgotten."

Brooke listens and then says, "Those are important notes. The giving up of your male children. That has got to be a tough one. Even in an exchange. I cannot imagine." She then asks, "So do you all form your own packs, or do you join packs with other tribes? To give them that perspective?"

Good question. Charlene actually looks impressed at that, sitting up a little. "Some of column A, some of Column B, basically. There are fury-only packs, just like there are Get packs, Walker packs, Fang Packs, but the majority of us do tend to branch out into the rest of the world in order to share the wealth, as it were, so we can at least blunt the male-dominated world that's out there just a little."

Brooke nods. "That is good. My own pack is mostly female. Poor Drago gets to hear and see some things he did not expect. But he is a good leader and fair. He is my biggest supporter. There are some good men out there."
