A hunting we will go (part 2)
Boar hunting, part 2.
IC Date Early February.
IC Time Afternoon.
Players Bliss, Wren Smith, Zero.
Location Deep in the southern woods.

Aaand .. Action!

"There better be some big piggies in there. And berries!" Zero says as she tromps down the street. You finally caught up with her but she looks like she might rush off again at any moment. "Once we get the boar then we can make bacon and have it with betty pancakes. At least fifty of them!"

"Where will you set the pit up so we can cook the pig?" Wren asks when she catches up, just slightly out of breath. Maybe she did run a little just to catch up. "Did you bring something to put the berries in?" she asks Zee.

Bliss ran, that's for sure. Both women have legs longer than hers. She's a little breathless too, but all that time spent roving the streets on her board has paid off enough that she can handle it. Hopping to a stop, cheeks rosy, she tilts her head to the side to gaze at the forest. "No pockets this time."

"We can make a basket or something like that," Zero says impatiently. Don't bother her with details. There's mobile bacon nearby. She can taste it!" She starts forwards again but keeps to a slower pace so that she doesn't tucker the two of you out. Say what you will about sugar but it's a great energy source. She takes another one of the butter pecan cupcakes out of the box and starts to munch away.

Wren gives a little look to Bliss, her smirk starting to show before she looks after Zero and says, "Yeah, I'll get started on that." She moves along after her sister, peering down into her bag after a moment, and then she is tugging some little device out. She messes with it, and suddenly there's a distressed baby pig squeal coming from it. Piggie call!

Bliss -could- probably keep up with Zero, but she couldn't do so while carrying Wren. Not that Wren is heavy, mind you .. more that she's, you know, bigger than a dormouse. The little red-head looks around, squinting into the trees ahead like maybe she can see.. oh no. It's just the wind in the underbrush. The pig call startles her and she jumps a little. "Wha? Oh." That's all she says about it, turning to look at Wren thoughtfully while following after Zero.

"Piggy squeal!" Zero exclaims! "They're close by!" she shouts in a gleeful tone. Then she's off like a bloodhound on the trail of a fox. "DIE DIE DIE!" She yells as she rushes into the forest. Hopefully there aren't any hikers or people having a picnic nearby.

Wren is grinning to herself while following after Zero. She makes the sound again, and then pauses her step to listen. It's the right season for little piggies, and if there -are- boars around, hopefully they'd come out after the little piggies in distress. Maybe. Wren puts the device into the bag again and she takes out her phone so she can record Zee while following her through the woods.

Bliss' footsteps slow as they wander deeper into the woods, so she can stare up at the trees. Shaking her head, she blinks back to the ground and hurries to cover the few steps she's fallen behind. "I could maybe see if I could scout, yeah?" She grins, moving closer to Wren to watch her filming Zee curiously. Hunh. Who knew phones did that?

Zero stops, turns, wide-eyes when Bliss talks about scouting ahead. She knows what that means. Or hopes that she knows what that means! She quickly looks away and makes a non-commital, "Good thinking Sargeant." She continues to move forwards but slower. She can hear those piggies squealing now.

"Yeah, good idea," Wren says to Bliss, her tone mildly distracted. They may be there for the pigs, but Wren's there for other reasons. There's a stupid, half happy half sad smile on her face as she records Zero, following behind. You know.. in case pigs do show up and she can get proof of the other catching them.

Bliss halts in her tracks. "Okay," says she brightly, "Just don't forget my clothes, kay? And no videoing neither." And with that she turns her back on the pair for propriety's sake, then peels off her shirt. That done, her form begins to warp and stretch. Her bright hair darkens, turning a deep chestnut brown before sprouting out all over her form. Fingers meld together and arms elongate. Her legs shorten, the rest of her clothes pool on the ground. And then that odd brown almost fur weaves together into feathers so that the figure standing there is not of the familiar little red-head, but of a proud golden eagle. It walks awkwardly out of the clothes, cooing to them, then turns to stare at its companions with one yellow eye.

Zero doesn't look while her (just) friend starts to peel off her clothing but *does* quickly gather it up once Bliss has finished undressing. When she looks over again Bliss has turned into an eagle and for once Zero is speechless. Well, almost. "Shut up," she absently mentions to her chest.

Wren bites the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling. She stops recording while Bliss changes, and as she looks to the girl she says, "Wow.. Okay, um.." She blinks a few times and looks away. The bag is opened and she offers to hold on to the clothing.

Golden Eagle screeches in response, cry not nearly as majestic at that of its bald headed cousin. Unfurling its wings (look! each one is almost as long as Bliss was tall!) the raptor launches itself into the air. Feet tucked up beneath it, the bird moves in large lazy circles, gaining altitude and weaving among tree limbs easily. For now, it seems content to spin in slowly widening circles while remaining in the area.

Zero tracks GE as the bird takes flight and soars on the thermals overhead. She's got the widest grin on her face right now. "I'm gonna learn how to do that," she tells Wren while passing over Bliss' clothing. "She's got great superpowers, yeah? Don't try to stuff her."

Wren's smile fades just slightly as she watches the way Zee's grows, but soon she looks away and up, watching after Bliss. She pauses her step and stands perfectly still, watching the bird fly while listening to Zero. Smirk. "I won't stuff her.. She wants to know which way you want her to go, Zee. What are your orders? Tell her."

Rather than wait patiently on a branch, the eagle continues its circling, coasting now. Adjusting to the sudden amazingly sharp vision doesn't take long, and enjoying the feel of wind under her wings takes even less. Ghostly silent, the large raptor ignores all the little yummy things hiding in bushes like mice, rabbits, and foxes. None of these are what they hunt today, so they'll all get another night, at least, to live.

Zero keeps on watching the Bliss bird! She cups her hands over her mouth and yells: "Find the pork!" She's a very effective leader.

"Hey! Wait up!" Zero yells as she runs after the bird in the sky. It flies faster than she can keep up with but she's long-legged and determined to catch up. "Come on Wren-Wren!" she calls back.

Wren is running after Zero soon enough, but there are a few things working against her. She's carrying that bag, Zee's hyped up on sugar and Wren's boobs are too bouncy. Wren tries holding them down as she runs, and she tries to keep up as best she can.

It's not a clearing, not really, but it's pretty close to one. The eagle, easy to loose track of flying silently in the woods, is perched right there, on a rocky outcropping, shifting from one foot to the other. Rocks are not good places to rest, for the record. They are hard and flat and talons don't sink into them for support. Fluffing up, it coos to Zero, eyes sharp and watchful.

A sudden breeze sweeps through the forest, rustling trees and bushes and sending old leaves floating to the ground.

Once Wren spies the eagle she slows to a walk, taking her time in getting over to the two. Her free hand lightly rubs over her ass once. She pants softly as she stops by Bliss and Zee, and she looks to the bird. "Find anything?"

Golden Eagle shifts its head in quick, halting movements. It chips and coos, explaining as best it can. <<Slowpokes. Tracks for rabbit, fox, men, wolves and bigger then wolves. No boar. Found berry patch.>> Then it shifts to preen, digging under its right wing.

Zero points. "There's Freebird!" she indicates, continuing to grin. She can't help it. Someone turning into a bird is completely and utterly cool to her. She flaps her hands a couple of times as though testing out the possibility of her own capability to fly. She looks like a cartoon chicken when she does so. And of course she doesn't miss Wren's butt rubbing. She looks over at her sister and asks, "You got worms or something?"

"No," Wren quickly says with a smirk. "Was going into the basement and I slipped, hit my ass on the last few steps as I slid down. It hurts still." Just a little, but running and using those muscles.. ouch. She looks to the bird and back to Zee, saying, "She saw tracks for rabbits, wolves, people and foxes. Others bigger than wolves, but no boar tracks. She found a berry patch, though."

Golden Eagle freezes, lowing her wing again. Head twisting round, it spies something small and little dart away and squelches the urge to chase it. Instead, it hops down from the rock to walk .. waddle slowly across the ground, eyeing Zero and her flap-flaps. Its talons curve into the earth with each step, leaving evidence of its passing. Twisting to turn one eye on Wren, it calls to her. <<Should have said so earlier. Could have helped.>>

"Berries!" Zero exclaims, sounding as though she might be hungry again. Three more butter pecan cup-cakes have mysteriously vanished from the dozen that Zero picked up earlier (ignore the crumbs on her face!). And... hey! She looks between the two of you. "How come you can understand Eagle-Eye G.I. Joe?" she demands of Wren.

To Bliss, Wren says, "No, it's okay. It doesn't hurt that bad anyway. Just a little bruised, but I'll survive." Her cheeks turn a smidge pink and she smiles, quickly looking away and to Zero. Her shoulders lift and she shrugs, saying, "I dunno. Just can. She called us slowpokes." She grins. "Berries now?" she asks Zero. "Want me to carry the cupcakes?"

<<South. East.>> The raptor supplies helpfully, even turning to face that direction. South first, then east. East from here is Not Pleasant. Launching itself skyward again, the bird goes back to its big circling overhead. Why walk when you can fly? Walking is so much slower, after all, and not nearly as gratifying. You're attached, chained to the ground with each step. Airborn, well, you're not.

"Your bewbs make you top-heavy," Zero tells Wren, convinced now more than ever that artificially-enhanced chesties are just asking for trouble. She considers Wren's offer. "Okay," she agrees, passing the box over to her sister. "You can have one," she indicates in a tone that lets Wren know that she knows *exactly* how many cupcakes are left. She looks back up at the bird and watches as it takes flight again.

The bag is slung over her shoulder and she takes the box of cupcakes, getting one out so she can break the bottom off and add it to the top, squishing it down to make a cupcake sandwich. "South and then east," Wren says as she begins to walk in the direction B told them to go.

Golden Eagle leads them ahead, then doubles back, making sure they don't get left behind this time. Still looking for boar but finding nothing but the preciously mentioned tracks, it enjoys the feel of the wind rushing against it. Gliding, dipping, soaring, the raptor wheels through the air, cutting through it with large downward strokes of its long wings.

Yeah, flight. That's the way to go. Zero keeps an eye on the Eagle while she rushes forwards then has to stop for Wren to catch up. Anyone looking at her can tell that she'd like nothing more than to be up in the sky right now, soaring next to Bliss bird!

Golden Eagle can't make that happen, sadly. The powers Bliss has to affect others don't include morphing them into animals. It'd be all kinds of fun to have someone to fly around with and explore the landscape. Still, these endless fly-away-birdy-come-back-birdy motions are fun too .. not that the bird really gives any indication of it. It continues to lead around the misty swampy darkness to the east, further and further south until it spies a waterfall in the distance ahead. Then it wheels in a gently curving arc, turning eastward into deeper underbrush. It's not much further ahead, but because of the increased density of the forest, the raptor takes shorter trips away from the pair following it, not wanting to inadvertently loose them so far from the city.

Zero is an excellent navigator! A virtual human compass! She knows where she's going. "Hey! Where did Super Eagle No-Name go?" she asks Wren. Wren??? Le sigh. Zero makes a mental note to start work right away on comlink shirts like they have on post original Star Trek! Something that translates Eagle talk.

Golden Eagle isn't wearing a shirt, remember? Even if Bliss didn't take it off first, it wouldn't fit her well at all. A collar might work though. Maybe. One that somehow managed to adapt to her ability to be so many different sizes. Or maybe it would just limit the size she could take? Wren's gone? No way. She's right back there. The eagle can see her, but then it has the advantage of a bird's eye view. It'll swoop down, keeping her on the right track as well. Eventually the oaks around them get taller and taller .. so tall that you'd have to really crane your neck back to see the tops. Old growth trees, or second growth, perhaps. Mist lingers here, floating down from that swampy marshland to the north. Bliss has led them right around it, skirting it as best she can. Takes way longer than flying over it, but .. they'd get lost maybe, and it's not a comforting place.

Details. Why does everyone bother Zero with details? And she's not focused on a topless Bliss. At all. But yeah, a collar. Bliss likes to wear collars anyways so. "Shut up," she mentions to her chest again. "Fog of War!" Zero declares. "Fan out!" Right now it's just her though. Where is that Wren anyways. She better not have gotten lost with Zero's cupcakes if she knows what's good for her.

Well Wren has better catch up. She has B's clothes! Oh, yeah, and the cupcakes. Hopefully she's not breaking them into little bitty bits and leaving a trail of crumbs behind her. That doesn't work so well. Ask Hansel. Soaring down, the raptor perches on a large root, raised out of the ground, and chirp-whistles to Zero.

Zero whistles back but has no clue what the Eagle is telling her. "You gotta teach me your bird language. I only speak Dwarven and Klingon," she indicates before launching into a series of highly gutteral (and obscene-sounding) words. She gesticulates with her right arm (also obscene), then grins. "You're not on fire today. You can do regular birds as well. You're amazing!" she calls as she continues to catch up to you. Despite all of her rushing around she seems to have an infinite amount of energy.

Golden Eagle turns towards the tallest of trees here, base obscured by prickly blackberry bushes. Zero's whistling means nothing to it. Actually, despite her outwards appearance, Bliss can't speak bird either. But, it comes with the territory, sort of like wings and talons and super-Clark-Kent-see-for-miles vision. Fluffing up its feathers, the eagle roosts, watching Zero with those odd, animal eyes betraying more intelligence than they should.

Berries! Zero er... zeroes in on them. *launch!* Omnomnomnomnom. Soon she's sitting in the middle of the clearing patting her belly and letting out some overly-loud belches... in case, you now, Wren's nearby.

Time Passes

Bliss comes back, after what seems like ages, dressed. Maybe she got sidetracked .. or lost? No. Sidetracked. She couldn't help it though. So much to see and .. yeah. Okay, so anyway, she's back, padding through the forest with light steps. Still, she's not the most stealthy of people, and the crunch of leaves and twigs underfoot announces her arrival before she rounds a tree and into view. Smiling brightly, she encounters a scene very different than when she left. Confusion flickers across her features, followed by concern. "Er .. is everything okay?" she wonders, not quite hurrying, but approaching with more urgency in her step.

Zero sinks in against Wren then pushes herself away when she hears Bliss asking how things are. She pushes up her glasses, quickly wipes at her eyes, then resets her glasses against her face again. "No, not everything," she replies to Bliss. "Economic troubles at home. War in the middle East. Korea's building nukes," she expands. She sniffs. "It's so cool how you can turn into a bird," she tells Bliss.

Wren hears the sound and releases her grip on Zee, pulling her arms back so the girl can retreat as needed. She takes a little scoot back and she turns, offering Bliss a small smile before she looks to Zero again. "Yeah.. That's pretty cool," she agrees, a little on the quiet side.

"-Good- with your landings? You kidding me?" Wren asks. "You're fucking -amazing- at them.. Sometimes.. I wish I could do that. You do some pretty cool stuff, Zee," she says as she looks to her sister. "You'll fly in no time. I know it. Anyone who can kick a shark's ass and yank his teeth out is the badest fucker around, for sure. Heck, I'm surprised you don't spend all day signing autographs for people," she notes as she flops back onto the grass, hands beneath her head as she stares upward. "I think you're the coolest person in the world."

"Hmm. Well it's totally true that you're the coolest person in the world, I still gotta say that landings -are- a bit tricky. I mean, I wouldn't want anyone to try to fly out of my tower that couldn't land, er, perfectly, yeah? That could be kinda really dangerous. And .. messy." Bliss shakes her head at those thoughts, avoiding them. "Anyway, that's something to work up to maybe. Er, I'd teach you how to fly, but it's not really that complicated once you have wings. You just sorta .. flap them, yeah? I mean, even baby birds can do it, and they're not super smart. Yeah."

Zero reaches down her top and pulls out the necklace she always wears, the one with the shark's tooth attached to it, after Wren starts talking about how badass Zero is for yanking shark's teeth out of sharks. She pulls it out and looks at the tooth. Zero glances over at Wren, back at her tooth. She's about to make a comment when Bliss mentions that she's the coolest person in the world as well. "I don't go splat," she promises. "I go BAM!" she indicates, with a little bit of her typical vigor. She grins a bit and tucks the shark's tooth away again.

"You do.." Wren agrees, starting to relax now and grin even more. Her eyes return to the sky and she stares at the clouds, watching them lazily drift along. "Zee's the coolest badass in town.. Probably in the world. Bet all the haters wanna be her." She grins even more, a lazy thing.

Bliss nods brightly. "Kind of wish I had been there to see it, yeah? I mean, not that I want to see you do that again .. er .. not near the water anyways. Of course, it's probably not as cool to kick a shark that's floundering around on the land in his teeth. Hmm. Too bad we never found that boar. You could have totally kicked his teeth in. And then you could have another tooth necklace."

Zero blinks. The boar! "DIE PIGGY DIE DIE!" she yells, then runs into the forest with upraised fists!

Cut! That's a wrap.
