George is hanging out on the beach roasting a fish and enjoying the morning.
Andy does something that NO ONE ever does, because he's either stupid, brave, or just really REALLY handy. Andy just sort of.. pops out of nowhere... like Bronwyn sometimes does. He stumbles when he lands, though, and there's a moment when he just.. lays there face first in the sand. About this same time, there's a shift of the waves out there in the water like something's PUSHED against it. Not huge. Not by any means. Might even go totally unnoticed. Andy picks himself up and makes little spitty noises as he wanders toward George.
George quriks an eyebrow at Andy as he walks over, chuckling "Well that's certainly a thing that just happened. How's it going?"
Andy is brushing sand off his shirt and shaking out his shorts as he wanders closer, still making spitty sounds. "Little shortcut I found. Probably stupid for me to use it. Some weird shit in there. There's an area where everything is upside down." He brushes off his hands and looks them over, then wipes his tongue off and then clears his throat, standing tall and straight and he takes a breath. "I am Andy Davis, Rited Lucky Bastard, Homid born Adren to the tribe of the Children of Gaia, mated to Lucie Davis of the Get of Fenris, father to Einar and Alicia, Beta of the Road Kill pack, under Opossum, Den Father for the Sept of the Enduring spirit. And I challenge you, George Andrews, rited 'Mocks-the-Dark', 'Trains-the-Weak', 'Kills-in-Silence', 'Render-of-Shadow' and 'Finder-of-Ways' for the right to be called Athro."
George grins and picks up a coffee cup from where it was hidden in the sand by him. Taking a sip before answering, clearly amused about something "Aight."
Andy looks ready for just about anything.. except that. He sort of deflates just a touch and then plunks down into the sand next to George. "Yeah? That's.. I was expecting something grand and .. like... yeah." He doesn't seem too disappointed though. Formal shit annoys him on a good day.
George grins broadly and passes Andy a mug "Considering I'd been running your test for ages now. I was starting to wonder what was taking you so long."
Andy just blinks slowly at George and then his head cocks rather wolfishly to the side. Burf?
George laughs and reaches out to turn his roasting fish over "Gee I wonder what would happen if we took an Adren and threw them into a socially complex big chair that had just had an Ahroun senior to them forced out of it. Could be dangerous and they would still need to do the job properly. Which can be dangerous all on its own on its best day. Now you've won her rank as well as her job."
Andy just stares for a long moment and then his brow SHOOTS upward and he isn't sure whether he should be mad at George or proud of himself or just.. remain confused. "You dick.." he says, but more just out of sheer surprise than any anger or ACTUALLY thinking George is a dick.
George chuckles and nods as he sips his coffee "Well I'm a Ragbash, so that's pretty much the same thing. And I'm pretty sure you've learned things from the experience."
"Lots of things. Like wash your hands after touching Annie, not ALL kin are right, sometimes, Garou are assholes, and everyone's vagina except for my mate's is stupid." But then more seriously, Andy says, "I have learned a lot. I've learned about balance and I've learned how to REALLY apologize. I've learned that sometimes there just isn't a right answer, and sometimes there is DEFINTELY an answer and you just have to look around for it a little harder - and delegate, delegate, deligate."
George nods at Andy and grins "Delegating is great. Its an especially important skill for Athros and Elders. We've got so much shit going on that we have to."
Andy nods. "Ain't that the fucking truth. So... that's it then? You'll accept my challenge and call it good and howl something appropriate?" He seems pretty fucking relieved about that. "I mean, no rush of course."
George nods and grins "That and find a new use for the stick I was going to poke you with if you hadn't shown up soon."
Andy snorts. "Give it to me. With all the new shit in town, I might need a poking stick, myself."
George offers over a piece of driftwood about a foot and a half long with one end sharpened that he'd started carving into a wooden stake "It was either this or find you a monster to throw a door at."
Andy snorts and he nods. "Aaaah, good times." He takes the stick and holds it up above his head. "Mocks-the-Dark-rhya. I shall wield this with the best of intentions and try very hard not to poke someone's eye out with it." Because that's when it stops being fun and games. "Unless they deserve it or I go mad with power."
George snickers and nods at Andy "As is proper. Speaking of people that need a good poke....how's the training pack thing going? Dre actually sort of seemed like he might be catching on in that lesson Dragomir and I taught."
Andy sighs quietly. "We haven't met in a week or so. Kira is just.. I KNOW she needs more practice, but I swear it's like teaching a turnip to dance."
George sighs and nods "They both need to work on their communication skills but yeah, Kira doesn't seem to be the best listener."
Andy shakes his head. "No, and she's entirely too.. fluffy isn't the word, but.. yeah, it is. I need to SHAKE her with something, but I'm not sure what. I need her to realize that we're warriors, not teenagers."
George nods at Andy "She reminds me of this girl I knew in highschool. Captain of the cheerleaders. Kira was raised in the Nation wasn't she?"
Andy nods. "Claims she was. Claims she had a pack too and they all died. I mean, that would just make me want to be BETTER."
