Once, I spoke and the stars kindled. Once, I spoke and undying flames obeyed.
I am Arel, the Duke of Sunset, and I am finally FREE once more.
I WILL speak to fire and stars again.

Stereotypes
Caine's progeny? They think they own the night, but call up a little fire and suddenly you're the new boss.
I "stink of the Wyrm?" You just smell bad in general, dog-breath.
Strutting around with stolen power like god-kings of the universe. Maybe they will be, unless we have something to say about it.
Were you there at the Beginning? I don't remember, but I don't think so. Will you be there at the End?
We made the right choice. We did.
I went to war for you, and then to the Abyss. We'll have our Paradise again and spit in God's face together, some day, but is it all that surprising if I expect just a tiny bit back from you?

I remember what it was like to love God.
You did it because that's what you were.
He had made us to love, had made us in love, to bring light to the void, since He Himself could not touch His Creation.
And as good and faithful servants, we loved; we, the First House, were his Voice. I remember that love, though the hows and whys of Creation are hazy and faint now...clouded by this meatbag. More than the love, I remember betrayal. His betrayal. How could He do that to us? Tell us to love, and then watch those we loved suffer in ignorance?
Lucifer was right. I was sure of it, and like my brothers and sisters I was ready to put the whole of my existence at risk to bring enlightenment to the sorry apes we tended, to lift them up so they could finally understand the beauty of Creation...and, honestly, so that we would no longer be alone with God, I think. He was a terrible conversationalist.
I served with honor during the War. I did not indulge in the ugly lusts of some of the lesser Houses, and even my superiors among the Namaru made my soul sick sometimes. Yet I killed, and sometimes...I delighted in the killing. I was worshiped, and delighted in worship. And in the end, the last battles...I did things. Things I dream of still. I earned my place in Hell.
And I'd do it all again.
