They can spill my blood, but my voice will not be silenced.

Stereotypes
The Others

Mages

A varied group, full of varied ideals. They have the power to work wonders. Sometimes they even use that power wisely.
Vampire There are a handful of good ones out there, but not many.
Werewolf At their best, they're oversexed survivalists who can't take care of their own business. At their worst, they're authoritarian monsters.
Wraith We're our own memories of ourselves, persisting after death. Our passions are all that we have, but with those, we can do a great deal.
Changeling Their essence is life and hope, everything that we've lost. We belong in different worlds.
Demon Real angels aren't this whiny, conceited, or self-important.

Contacts
Horatio A complicated man, earnest and caring at one moment, and then things start coming out of his mouth that, frankly, terrify me.
Ferdinand He'll always be a brother to me.
Kenna She may never know how much she's done for me, but I won't forget the debt.
Cristobal Pants. Please. Seriously.
Dyson Our worlds are too far apart for us ever really to have been friends. It took him leaving for me to see that.
Alala I've fought spectres who terrified me less.
Madeline Kind. Gracious. Charming. ...And yet I can't shake the feeling that if I step wrong with her, I'm going to see a side of her that I don't want to see.
Zillah Too fragile a thing to exist in this ugly world.
Cherazart She really wasn't cut out for the life she's been plunged into. If she can't learn to adapt, it's going to end badly for her someday.
Clara I know of no kinder heart than hers.
Deil I have never seen anyone go so far out of his way to be prickly.
Typhanie She has no idea how lucky she is to have the luxury of being weak. She has no idea how much I envy her.
Eloise For some reason, I always feel like I'm on thin ice with her.
Simone I'm sorry about how things ended, but I draw the line at worshiping false idols. She's not what she thinks she is.
Segers There's a big difference between a nice guy and a nice person.
Gwydion I hope that he doesn't learn to love killing monsters so much that he crosses the line and becomes a monster, himself. I like him, but I hunt monsters, too.
Arec He has a gentle heart that's been broken and patched together too many times. It gives him a mix of strength and fragility that draws me.
Cross Once we were fellow hunters. Now we are so much more. I think I want to spend my life with you.
Klem Not at all what I expected.

RP Hooks
  • Wraiths and mediums of Prospect might know Leila by reputation; she's a Doomslayer who works in and around the city. Those who have trouble with spectres, Reapers, or other nasty elements might go to her for help, and she's been known to rescue the occasional lost traveler from the Tempest. (Noteriety background.)
  • Wraiths or mediums who have been in the city for a few years would know Gabriel, her mentor, and would recognize his sword in her possession.
  • Speaking of the sword, it's made of Stygian steel, which might draw the attention of those who understand how rare that is.
  • Computer types and current events junkies might have followed her blog when she was alive.
  • Those with the Haunted flaw who would like someone to give their haunting ghosts a piece of their mind might benefit from Leila's short temper, quick wit, and unwillingness to shut her mouth. She even has a big, bad sword to make the haunters listen.

Merits

  • Bright: For one of the dead, she is awfully full of life.
  • Clear Sighted: She has seen enough to know when she's being bullshitted -- even by magic.
  • Fearlessness: It's not that she's never afraid. It's just that next to the horrors she's seen in the Labyrinth, you're not that scary.

Fame
During the Green Revolution in Iran, a voice rose from the street, a feminist blogger who called herself 'A Persian Girl'. She wrote vividly about the life of a woman in Iran, of what she wanted for herself, and the daughters who'd come after her. Her writing inspired a generation, made her a media darling, and the Revolutionary Guard's public enemy #1.

'A Persian Girl' enlisted the aid of Anonymous to hide from her government for a time, but she was eventually forced to escape to the United States. It was there that agents from Iran killed her. The first look that the world saw of her face were cell phone videos recorded of her death. Her last words were 'Never stop fighting.'

The people who tried to silence her made her immortal. Banksy has paid tribute to her, and his stencil shows up on walls and tee-shirts wherever people struggle against tyranny. Her words have inspired those seeking freedom, and her death has driven a new wave of 'Perisian Girls' out of the shadows. It will be a long time before she is forgotten.
