T

he legend of Caphriel and Harahel is one that has been lost in the pages of history. Few know of the Twin Eyes of the Firmament, and fewer believe they ever existed. Together, they worked to herald the Breath of Life into the world, intertwining the connections between men and women, earth and stars, plant and sun. God had created them to be one soul in two different forms, and so they were. They never questioned each other, they never needed to tell the other what need be done. They knew each other with the intimacy one knows himself. They knew everything.

N

o one expected it. Beyond that, no one even knew it was possible that the pair could choose different sides of the war. Caphriel was loyal to the Host, and Harahel was not. Or... That's what the legend stated. In truth, no one was quite sure. The Eyes of Firmament were first and foremost scouts. Spies. Shadows. They brokered in secrets and lived a life devoid of trust. In a way, even as they fought for different ends, all they had were each other.

W

hen the war was over, and the rebels banished... Michael ordered both Caphriel and Harahel to the Abyss. Harahel went willingly, but Caphriel? He pleaded his innocence. He begged for his life. He promised his loyalty, but none listened. It is said that Michael himself was the only one to show remorse. He alone offered him an apology, yet it was him who gave the final say. His words echoed, forever etched in time, "You are one in the same, Caphriel. When Harahel blinks, so shall you. The fate of both was sealed on the betrayal of one."
