Always intended to be a rarity, this obviously-popular combination of the Mage and Werewolf spheres has historically lead to more inter-sphere conflicts than any other single concept and has perhaps the highest body count of on-screen PVP kills in City of Hope history, and has thus been disallowed for the foreseeable future. Shifters do not generally do "divided loyalties" well, and Mages are always viewed as a threat to what Gaians hold sacred.

Important notes

  • We no longer allow Nephandi at character generation. If your character is going to fall, you have to do it IC. You can still be a quite horrible person and not be actual evil incarnate.
  • New Technocracy Apps are currently closed as of July 2024. Staff will consider in the future reopening.

Set Fullname, Date of Birth (we do not use age, as time is real time), Concept (a few words), Nature, and Demeanor

Choose Tradition, Essence, Resonance

  • Faction should be Traditions or None
    • If Tradition is Order of Hermes, also set Degree and House
  • Tradition mages may also set Type (e.g. Reality Hacker)

Set +note for Paradigm

  • If someone ICly asked you how you perform magick, and you answered honestly and reasonably completely, what would you say?
  • What is at least one thing that your Paradigm doesn't allow you to do?
  • Guide to the Traditions pages 58-65 has suggestions

Set +note for Foci

  • Your +note should separate by sphere what foci are used.
  • The same focus can be used for more than one sphere.
  • This +note should be updated and reapproved later by staff if/when you learn new spheres, or as IC RP dictates post approval.
  • Having only one focus for all spheres will generally be rejected at staff discretion, unless you have the Phylactery flaw.

Spheres:

  • Tradition mages should allocate at least one of the six dots to their Tradition's specialty sphere.
  • Hollow Ones and Orphans still get a total of 6 dots baseline. (MtA 90: "Some Orphans, especially Hollow Ones, have no specialty sphere." Emphasis added.)
  • List of specialty spheres by Tradition / Convention

Backgrounds:

Select Resonance Trait(s)

  • Essence = Dynamic: at least one Resonance Trait should be of type Dynamic
  • Essence = Pattern: at least one Resonance Trait should be of type Static
  • Essence = Primordial: at least one Resonance Trait should be of type Entropic
  • Essence = Questing: Resonance Trait(s) can be any of the above types
  • Your Resonance Trait should not literally be "Dynamic", it should be a more specific adjective whose type is Dynamic (or whatever) - see above link for examples
