Following on the trail of [[Plot:Life and Death|Life and Death]], Floyd - now a Risen, begins to hunt for something stranger. Going to the Coroner's Office he meets [[Kinsey]], Prospect County Medical Examiner and Medium. They discuss the dead bodies found on the Tamerlane and Floyd relays info he has received from several sources. He realizes that the Risen who were aboard the Tamerlane were neither Aztec nor cult members, casting a shadow over the events of the Tamerlane.

At the Murder of Crows nightclub, during an Open Mic night, Floyd was tracking spectres when he was surrounded by the shadow-eaten, led by The Bullet Man - an assassin for hire. After informing Floyd that the "Masters" have contracted his obliviation, Floyd fled the Murder of Crows to to get jumped by Shades. An unlikely passerby, Adeline, helped Floyd escape the sniper crosshairs of the Bullet Man.
