The Old Wine Factory in the north-east corner of the city has stood vacant for years and, if certain parties have anything to do with it, that's how it will stay. The building which once housed the old factory brewery, has been converted into, among other things, a flophouse for folks who either don't have, can't find, or shouldn't be living in what most people would consider 'real' houses.
The Haven, as it is a 'safe spot' away from the streets for the people that Wyck finds and befriends, is a home for all sorts of broken things that just don't fit into the conventional understandings of how the world should work. Considered deviant by many and 'eccentric' by a few, the place is a 'Haven' for free-thinking individuals who want to pursue their artistic, spiritual and even mechanical projects without the crushing weight of society trying to fit them into a mold. .
