Blini
A type of Russian pancakes or crepes. They are usually thin and big, they may be served with sour cream, jam, honey, caviar or smokes salmon. Blini are often eaten folded or rolled with all sorts of fillings from sweet to savory.

Syrniki
Syrniki is a popular dish in Russian and Ukrainian cuisine. They are small pancakes made of cottage cheese, usually eaten for breakfast or as a dessert served with jam, sour cream. May be made plain, or with dried fruits for a sweeter taste.

Borscht
Borscht is a very popular soup in many East European countries. It has a distinctive reddish-purple color because of it's main ingredients with beetroot and tomatoes, and is filled with meats and hearty vegetables.

Shchi
A lightly sour and spicy soup made with cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes and tomatoes. Shchi is one of the staples of Russian cuisine known since the 9th century.

Chicken Kiev
Chicken Kiev is a popular dish of chicken breast rolled around butter and stuffed with grated cheese, mushrooms, herbs, egg yolk, then breaded and baked in oil.

Pelmeni
Pelmeni or meat dumplings are extremely popular in Russia, but historically this dish has Siberian origins. Filled with fish or meat, they're an ideal tasty food for cold climates.

Stroganoff
Stroganoff is a Russian dish very popular around the world. Small pieces of beef filet are sautéed in sour cream together with onions and mushrooms and served over pasta.

Vareniki
Varenniki are dumpling similar to pelmeni but they're stuffed with a choice of cheese, mashed potatoes, cabbage, meat, hard-boiled eggs or different fruits (cherry or plum).

Kvas
Kvas is a traditional beverage, quite refreshing in summer time, so-called Russian Coca-Cola. It is known as slightly fermented rye bread drink. It contains less than 1 % of alcohol, so even children are allowed to drink it.

Sbiten
Sbiten is a traditional Russian hot beverage, very much loved by Russians in winter time. Like mead, sbiten's main ingredient is honey mixed with water, spices and jam.

Mors
Mors is a popular Russian drink made of sweetened berry juice mixed with water. Most traditional mors is prepared on the basis of cranberries, but you can also taste mors made of blackcurrant, raspberry, sea-buckthorn, cowberry and other berries of the season.
