=============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/1 Posted Author Kinfolk merit by race/subrace Tue Mar 28 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules kinfolk' has been updated to formally clarify which races/subraces are allowed to take the Kinfolk merit. If you were previously denied this merit, but your race/subrace is now on the allowed list, then please +xpreq. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/2 Posted Author Abyss Mysticism Sun Apr 09 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is now allowed. Bottom of '+rules blood magic' covers requirements and abilities. Existing Lasombra not already on an appropriate Path of Enlightenment would need to switch paths, which is intentionally difficult. See rules in back of main Vampire rulebook ('Switching from Humanity to a Path'), adapted as needed if you're currently on a different Path of Enlightenment. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/3 Posted Author Update on free lores Mon Jul 03 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules lores' has been updated to address two cases: 1) PCs who intentionally declined some/all of their free lores in chargen 2) PCs who convert to a different type post-chargen (e.g. ghouling) tl;dr: In both of these cases, the first dot of relevant Lore(s) is free of cost, time limit, or other restriction. Anyone who previously paid XP for the first dot of such a lore can +request an XP refund (but we're not going to pro-actively check every PC for that). ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/4 Posted Author +policy village idiot Mon Jul 03 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ tl;dr: Have you considered not being one? Similar to '+policy antagonists', this is an advisory document explaining that you /can/ play such a PC, but staff politely requests you bear some things in mind that are in everyone's interest, including yours. You are not playing in a vacuum; your actions affect other PCs, or at least run a reasonable risk of doing so, and they may reasonably want to fix the problem before it completely blows up. If you're playing a guy whose faults logically /should/ get him taken out inside of a week, don't be too surprised if they /do/ get him taken out inside of a week. 'Incompetence porn' (as this style of RP is sometimes described) is pretty common in the Paranoia RPG, but even there, different players have different play styles ranging from 'TRAITOR! *zap zap zap*' to premeditated frame jobs. Same goes around here, and we aim to resolve that by offering separate circles to travel in. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/5 Posted Author +policy cross sphere Mon Jul 03 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Similar to the previous bbpost. tl;dr: It's allowed, but it can get complicated, here are some common forms and some advice on what to think about beforehand. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/6 Posted Author '+rules blood magic' cleanup Thu Jul 06 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've updated '+rules blood magic' to break it into sections (one general and one per type) and list some useful basics and references. This shouldn't be anything new, just summarizing some stuff from canon or past practice. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/7 Posted Author Spirit Slaves Sun Jul 09 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I added '+rules spirit slave' to clarify and expand on the brief write-up in the Giovanni clanbook. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/8 Posted Author Home Base background Fri Jul 28 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ See '+rules home base'. This is just generalizing the mage Chantry background mechanic (because there's nothing about the concept that really /requires/ a mage to be involved), plus imposing a membership cap (sorry, no all-Cam or all-Gaian-Garou supergroups). Basically, what this does is let a group of PCs buy dots in the Home Base background, and every 2 dots of Home Base supports 1 dot of some other background which is then formally shared by that group of PCs. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/9 Posted Author Wanga Fri Aug 04 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is now allowed. '+rules wanga' covers requirements and abilities. Unlike most blood magic, wanga /can/ be learned by anyone, but it's more difficult. Forever. Exactly one (1) currently approved PC counts as 'declared belief during chargen', and they know who they are. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/10 Posted Author Brock removed Sat Aug 05 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Skipping the usual four-day delay because there's zero gray area: A while back, Brock sent a couple people unsolicited pages of 'Does <your PC> give head?'. Now if this was part of ongoing banter and the recipients were amused then it would be fine, however it absolutely wasn't and they complained. He got a 72-hour suspension, he acknowledged it and promised not to re-offend. Yesterday, he did re-offend, so out the door he goes. Anyone who wants to bring up his disappearance as an IC topic, please +request. I've given the Hidden Meadows crew first dibs since he was part of that group (at least on paper). ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/11 Posted Author Minimum banality Tue Sep 12 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules banality' has been adjusted to impose a hard minimum of 1 across the board. The only things that can have Banality 0 are chimera and residents of Arcadia, neither of which include PCs. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/12 Posted Author Influence endeavors/modifiers Tue Sep 12 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Because we've recently had some Influence-based PVP and attempted counter-action, we're expanding the Influence background to include the endeavors and modifiers from Dark Epics (a MET book for large games). I'll be creating a wiki page 'Influence' that summarizes everything in one place. This may also evolve a bit as we work out how to adapt things from a typical LARP schedule (monthly games with downtime actions in between) to continuous play. During this first month, we'll also allow retroactively attaching modifiers to previous Influence actions. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/13 Posted Author Horizon Realms Sun Oct 01 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ See '+rules horizon realms'. I've also updated '+rules maelstrom2' to be vaguer about how badly the Other Places are damaged these days, and '+rules nodes' to clarify that creating/expanding a node requires Prime 5 /and/ buying the background (we'd been doing that for a while but hadn't written it out). PRPs involving a one-off visit to a Horizon Realm are OK and don't require anyone to purchase anything (you can handwave going out of town and borrowing someone else's gateway), but staff would still appreciate being informed, particularly in case anyone ever wants to revisit that Realm later. Also, any magic cast during such a PRP needs to be limited to that PRP. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/14 Posted Author Delirium and mummies Sat Oct 07 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules the delirium' has been updated to add mummies to the immune list. Their omission was an oversight. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/15 Posted Author Reallocating Influence Thu Nov 16 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules influence' has been updated to allow abandoning existing Influence (no XP refund, limit 1/month/PC) in order to make room for another type. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/16 Posted Author Activating demon-enchanted items Wed Nov 22 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wiki page 'Creating Magical Items' has been corrected to match canon (the difference was an unintentional mistake on my part): If an item created using Lore of Forge 4 (Enchant Object) is activated multiple times in the same scene, each use requires a separate activation roll. (As usual, if you're attuned to the item, then you can still skip these rolls.) ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/17 Posted Author +rules stacking Fri Nov 24 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've been meaning to add this for ages, finally got around to it. Any oddball cases will be clarified if/when they come up in practice. ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/18 Posted Author Medium / Spirit Sight Sun Dec 03 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules medium' and '+rules spirit sight' have been added. This mostly just codifies existing practices, as apparently there were some occasional misunderstandings. * Medium lets you hear wraiths, but not see them. * Spirit Sight lets you see and hear fae/umbra/wraith stuff, but not touch or enter them. Immunity to the Mists is limited to seeing fae stuff in normalspace. (If you're Enchanted and brought into the Dreaming, the Mists still applies to that.) * Insisting that the level of distraction is crippling is wrong. Insisting that the level of distraction is trivial is also wrong. (Dual Perception helps a great deal, but you still need to ICly decide when to turn stuff on/off, and stuff is still distracting while turned on.) ============================================================================== =============================== Public Policy ================================ Message: 11/19 Posted Author Temp Banality, Nightmare Dice Sun Dec 03 WhoopingCrane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ '+rules banality' has been updated to explain when temporary Banality should be gained and lost. This is mostly just reiterating canon for convenience. All relevant PCs should have a new 'Temp Banality' pool on +sheet, initially zero. Average Banality by race/etc. has been moved to '+rules banality by race' ('+rules banality chart' also works). '+rules nightmare dice' has been added. This is also mostly just reiterating canon for convenience. All relevant PCs should have a new 'Nightmare Dice' pool on +sheet, initially zero. Insisting that a changeling needs to flee the moment a Banality 8+ PC shows up is wrong, especially if they're on the other side of the room and not particularly interacting. Insisting that your changeling is totally fine hanging out with a Banality 8+ PC for an entire scene is also wrong. (OOC oversights happen and are okay, but Banality perception is now also built into +glance. Insisting 'my PC is a masochist and gets off on the pain' is doublepluswrong.) ==============================================================================
