Khaled is the lastborn son of two kinfolk, once situated at the Sept of the Howling Winds deep within Iran. His eldest brother was a victim of the Iraq-Iran War in the 80's. When his older sister, still only a cub, was slain along with the majority of the sept when the Howling Winds fell to the Wyrm, his parents elected to leave their homeland. They immigrated to the United States when Khaled was only two to join family in San Francisco and seek out their own version of the American Dream.
With a bloodline dating back to the tribe's Mesopotamian origins, the boy was raised pretty sheltered and kept close and protected - from attending private schools for the children of Garou and kin to only being seen by 'in the family' doctors. Life was going good until 9/11 when things went very much south for him and his immediate family. Thankfully the sept was around to protect them, but that didn't stop the day to day from being rough. It was one such interaction between Khaled and some rude tourists at the pier that triggered the boy's First Change - and the alarming realization that he did not trigger the Delirium. The cover up was costly and expensive.
Since then, he's been fairly low key in the Nation despite his breeding and skills. He's seemed content to stay out of the limelight, deflecting the inevitable pressures put on him to succeed with humor or sullen acceptance when that fails to diffuse the situation. Word has it he was sent to Prospect on assignment from his Athro mentor, to help extend the hand of friendship between the Western Eye and the Enduring Spirit. It just may not be the only reason he was sent.

Ethnicity- The US is pretty divided on the collective opinion of 'Muslims'. While it's true his family played the role to fit into their homeland without detection, they're hardly believers in anyone save Gaia. How understanding are most Californians? Especially when the man's Rage leaks out that 'suspicious character' vibe.
San Francisco Shifters- He was raised and lived around San Francisco and the shifter population centered at the Sept of the Western Eye. The major west coast caern is a hub of activity both domestic and international. Always a good place to have bumped into someone.
Artisan- While Galliards tend to be known for song, Khaled is an artist of a different lean. He sells his works online, from sculpture of flora and fauna to paintings and sketches of nature, wildlife, and the landscapes around him - all at very reasonable prices. And he's amazingly good. Word has it some galleries have contacted him about his stuff but he's never responded. Availability is limited and he doesn't often have anything available for sale and no apparent set timeline.
