In The Beginning
xxxxxWithin the darkest rainforests of Brazil, a spider was born unto a clutch. This spider possessed awareness, and amidst this awareness, it possessed a strong instict to survive. Survival meant to devour, and so devour he did. One after one, he hunted and canibalized his brothers and sisters, and with each one he grew larger and stronger, and more aware. Closer to the motherly voice that whispered to him. When he was large enough, he could hear the Mother clearly. She spoke to him and she charged him with his role. She carved a path for him to follow and set him upon it.

xxxxxHe was able to assume the shape of man, and walk among them. Even if it was not always a perfect thing. People go missing in South America all the time. His first encounter with a biology student on a field trip ended in his first taste of human blood. He was close enough in likeness for the spider to take his identity. Cain Moreno, an aspiring genetic engineer. Good enough. He could fulfill his role perfectly this way. And so, the Beast walks among us.
