Overview of Andrew
Local boy, grew up Prospect, school through graduate level/terminal degree in Psychology. Love of outdoors and adventure, joined those clubs in school along with eco-friendly/save the climate sort of things. A bit of a goof, comes off as not taking things seriously, but would be glad to elucidate upon the benefits of things like serotonin, dopamine, and those good chemicals for the mind/body.
How do you know him?
Some RP hooks
- Adventure - Mostly outdoors, but up for anything new and exciting. Rock climbing, hiking, camping, its his job these days and he still loves it. A swim in the ocean, kayak adventure, wind boards, parasailing, you name it he'll try it. Putt-putt, go-karts, bowling, something indoors, count him in too!
- Therapy - Maybe he was your clinical psychologist, he helps run a program that originated to prevent youth recidivism through woodland therapy that has grown to be all around adventure therapy. This includes group sessions out at the non-profit Empowered Adventures for those in need of that spiritual (not necessarily 'religious' at all) experience with nature. He will run week+ long camps for youth coming out of detention centers to help prevent recursion into things like gang life and such. Likewise, sessions for folks just in need of that release, individuals and couples alike. Be it more adventurous or just a retreat like experience in some quiet outdoor place.
- Need a Job - Maybe become part of Empowered Adventures.
Adventure Therapy
Under the non-profit Empowered Adventures, Andrew is the primary psychologist for adventure therapy of the organization. They have a small ranch that includes a barn converted to rooms for guests, and bunks for the youth during stay-over camps, a small pond even, a few good acres of hiking terrain in the old hills and valleys in the regions east of the city (El Cajon Mountain Trailhead, Crestridge Ecological Reserve as some inspiration).
