2019-01-26 Patrol

Predawn, almost 5am and the forest is still. They've been out not long, "Patrol, no one likes the dawn patrol, and then hit the beach," Sigryd suggested, dangling a bikini top before stuffing it in a backpack. They'd gone west, and a bit north, angling to where normal humans are more likely to be, and the corruption they knowingly or unknowingly bring with them.

Theron grins, "Beach? I know a pool of water the river from the sept runs into in the forest...skinny dipping." he teases her lightly as he straps his sword to his back. Its clasped handle down actually, much easier to draw, gravity helps.

A sudden breeze sweeps through the forest, rustling trees and bushes and sending old leaves floating to the ground.

Sigryd changed to the direwolf shape as they left the kin house for the deeper woods. She licked his face, rather sloppily, grinning a wolfish grin at him then headed for the trails to the west. Not far off the ocean can be heard, the dull roar of the surf. A few lights, artificial ones, glimmer in the trees, and there's a little sound of music ahead.

Theron keeps up at a light jog, he will always be slower than her but his stamina is impressive and he manages to keep up rather well. A smile on his lips, patrolling...as if he were farou.

Dapplegrim doesn't go fast, a slow dog trot sometimes, easy enough for a human to jog along with, or if there's a scent or sound, she slows to a walk. Now with lights and sound ahead she slows to a walk and then a stop. An ear flick, a glance at Theron. <<Shouldn't be anyone here. Sneak in for a look?>>
Theron nods, "Slowly." he whispers to her as he ducks down a bit to try and creep forward in the darkness of pre-dawn

A sudden breeze sweeps through the forest, rustling trees and bushes and sending old leaves floating to the ground.

Dapplegrim moves forward not quite silently...but just the natural sounds of the woods. A rustle of pine needles, a brush against leaves, no more sound than the light breeze would make. She gives Theron an impatient look at the noise he makes, an ear flicking in mild annoyance. But they get close without being seen. There's four men, a dozen or so medium size boxes, and waht looks like a chemistry set up. One man is slowly meandering around, ostensibly keeping watch. The other three seem to be tending the stuff they're pulling out of the boxes and using it to feed the chemical process they have going.

Not being a chemist himself, Theron looks to Sigryd and shrugs a moment. Wondering what she thinks, wishing they could read each others thoughts. "Badguys?" he mouths

Dapplegrim nods a yes. A low growl, barely audible: <Wyrm. Not sure which one. And in any case they trespass. ANd whatever they do> she points at the chemistry gear with her nose, <why here? Must be illegal or they would be in town in a proper factory.>
Theron smiles, "Stay hidden, lets see what happens. Save me if Im about to die." he then stands up and starts walking towards the men, "Hello...." a hand lightly unclasping the sword and wrapping around the handle but not drawing it yet. "Im super lost..." he fakes confusion and looks at the chemisty items, "Oh wow whats that?" ...Bonehead

Dapplegrim gives him a startled look but then he's moving. She flattens. The four men freeze and turn to stare at Theron. The one just walking around recovers first. "Dude," he laughs. California surfer accent, and appearance...youngish, blonde, tanned. Armed. He has a pistol tucked in his pants it's obvious now that he's walking toward Theron. The others go back to wht they're doing. "Have a smoke?" H e holds out a stubby pipe with a glass bowl.

Theron shakes his head, eyes glance to the gun. He doesnt answer the surfer dude but says, "Holy shit is that a real gun?" playing stupid as he watches. "Wait a minute...is this some sort of illegal activity?" he keeps walking closer but not too close, he just needs to be in sword range.

Surfer dude spots the sword...his reaction though isn't to draw the gun, he breathes...and fumes pour out of his mouth fogging the area. The guys working the chemical gear just keep doing what they're doing....

Dapplegrim rushes in, to claw at the surfer before he can get his gun out. Her attack is rushed though, and does little damage, just tearing at the guy's skin. That's enoguh though...noxious pus flies from the small split in the skin THeron's sword made and the bigger tears Dapplegrim's claws made. None lands on Theron or Dapplegrim, but where it lands on the ground it smokes and sizzles, and reeks.

The gun comes out and the surfer takes a shot at Theron, but the bullet spangs off his armor. The other three men take up crowbars, and rush into the fray to pound on the huge wolf and on Theron, but the swings are weak and the crowbars glance off Theron's armor and Dapplegrim's fur and hide. Dapplegrim roars her fury and attacks again, and again and again, swiping at the gun wielding surfer with her claws. Blood flies, and pus....

As the crowbar glances off the kinfolk's armor, he spins absorbing it and comes back around to the armed gunman with a vicious back hand strike that buries dip into the ribs and out the otherside. He snarls out as he claims the first victim to Dainsleif. The sword drew blood, its enchantment reinforced.

The last of the three others falls in a spray of blood and gore, clawed, sworded... Dapplegrim shakes herself and looks around at the mess. Her eyes are still glowing gold and teeth bared, still wound from the fight.

The thrill of battle, Theron breathes heavy for a moment. Adrenaline going he finally turns to his mate. His voice a rumble, "Are you ok?" he asks.

Dapplegrim shakes again and nods a yes. <Now we clean this mess up.> she doesn't seem happy about that. Dapplegrim starts to shift, back to homid, a slow process after the fight.

Theron nods, "Burn the bodies?" he asks of her, letting the garou take charge of the cleanup like any good kinfolk. He does however begin to drag the bodies together in a pile.

Sigryd nods, not ready to talk yet. she watches a moment, then grabs one to drag over to the pyre. After a few minutes she finds her voice. "We'll need to cleanse this too," she says, a bit hoarse. "Can you get the fire going while I do that?"

Theron nods, "Yeah..." he watches Sigryd carefully a moment. Then he goes about preparing the fire. Getting some nearby wood and items necessary to create a sufficient pyre. Sigryd starts the rite of cleansing...going off into the woods a little ways to find some clean fir branches to burn. Back, she starts to walk a counter clockwise circle around the site, chanting softly, slowly getting her composure back, helped in fact by the ritual.

The flames sufficient, Theron backs off and watches his wife and mate. Gaze on her with lingering concern at her quiet need for composure. His heart still thumping, the thrill of combat, the fool perhaps, or perhaps just a Get born under the full moon.
